@ozwally It was developed by Arika, who made all three Endless Ocean games. I'm guessing they didn't want to spend effort and resources fleshing out the game to the same level as the 2nd Endless Ocean, in order to test the waters (pun Nintended). They will probably either update it by adding things like an aquarium to beef up the game, or deem it a failure due to the current reception and only roll out these timed event updates instead.
@BANJO Endless Ocean 2 is really impressive and I'm sure will become your favourite. Just keep in mind that if you prefer the open areas of the first, 2 becomes a lot less linear later on. Also, upgrade your diver's oxygen a lot before you get close to the end of the story, or you'll regret it like I did lol
1998 for all the amazing games which released that year, some of which stand as the best game of their franchise, like Ocarina of Time and the original Banjo Kazooie
2006 for the build up to and launch of the Wii because there had never been anything like it and it was extremely exciting for 12-13 year old me.
2017 as the Switch was a huge comeback for Nintendo after the Wii U and had a fantastic line up of games month after month (which never let up to this day)
@UltimateOtaku91 True but those series have had them for a long time now. If Endless Ocean had always had limited time events there would be content in the first two games that would be impossible to play by normal means today, as will be the case with Luminous in the future. At least the first two will always be complete experiences, even for newcomers in 2024.
I love the first two Endless Ocean games to this day and I'm hoping this lives up to them. I would love it if Nintendo gave Arika permission to sneak a Splatoon reference in somewhere lol
Mario, Sonic and Pikachu should be the top three, simple as that.
Here in the UK a lot of people have terrible taste in games (Fifa and Call of Duty are nearly always at the top of the sales charts) and Playstation is the top brand because of it's "lad culture" vibe and unfortunately, most people think Nintendo is childish and in the same ball park as Dora the Explorer, or Pepper Pig. It seems that will never change sadly.
@SteveDaSteve In my experience the official Triforce Heroes servers stopped being able to find me other players to quest with by mid-2016...I can't see unofficial servers being very active for that reason haha
Completely forgot this Splatfest was happening even though I picked a team. I'm sure nintendolife usually gives a reminder beforehand which usually helps lol I'll have to try out fizzbang bombs next time.
Just two sentences into the article and there is already an inaccuracy. Giratina was introduced in 2006's Pearl and Diamond, not Platinum. Also why does nintendolife have to bring up Joe Merrick in what feels like every article. Anyone looking at the sales of the third versions of each gen could see that they sell less. It's not like Joe brought that fact to light for the world.
Nergigante is only on the list because of the popularity of World and Zinogre is very cool, but far from the best monster in the series.
The fact that Lagiacrus made it on at all is the most impressive aspect of the list, because of how it's only made appearances in Nintendo-exclusive games (apart from spin offs) and they released a long time ago. Good going, old timer!
How many more years will it be where developers continue to get this wrong? Just follow the guidelines laid out by Nintendo if you don't want to disappoint and annoy fans in the first place. The Sonic Mania and Human Resource Machine icons never even got a fix and look terrible!
@Savage_Joe Yeah, but before launch they wouldn't tell journalists that ArtePiazza were the devs and told them to find out in the credits of the game. The trailers just stated "Nintendo/Square Enix" at the end.
His works made my years spent in the playground at primary school so much cooler and more fun. RIP Akira Toriyama, your impact on the world cannot be understated.
I hope it comes to the west because I loved this series. It made great use of the features of the 3DS and had a very well realised world.
In the other Denpa Men games you could deactivate the camera feature and it would display a digital blue background instead. So I assume this game will be like that and will use the gyro in the controller if you aren't playing in handheld mode.
@Not_Soos The game you're thinking of is called Crush 3D. I remember it not running so well in 3D lol
@Truegamer79 They aren't too challenging but they most definitely have goals. Filling in the encyclopedia and a huge post-game goal in Endless Ocean 2 come to mind and make them 100+ hour games each.
It was great considering it was only 23 minutes long. There are six games I want to buy and Endless Ocean Luminous existing is a dream come true in the same way that Another Code Recollection was.
@Mgalens Yeah exactly that. I'm really glad I downloaded Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon and the Blade of Light in time, even though I have a physical copy of Shadow Dragon on DS from when I was younger and will probs always play that version lol Glad Nintendo stopped with those times releases in general. What a horrendous way of trying to get people to buy them
@demacho I was under the assumption that you pay for the right to access them like Netflix. I'm sure the console checks if you have Switch Online before entering into the app, so once they discontinue that service they should become inaccessible
Even if it did release here the servers for Switch Online will only last so long in the future before they end and you lose the game and your save file, so just buy a bootleg copy off eBay.
9/10 It does what it sets out to do flawlessly and is very polished. I love the battles against DK and how you can cut corners with the level design if you're clever with Mario's back-flip and trip jumps. The new music for the Slippery Slope stages sound really nice too, almost like long-lost Grant Kirkhope themes. Also, pretty sure it uses HD rumble and it adds a lot imo
I don't understand the love for Shiver. Her design is kinda boring and has a lack of flair compared to the styles of Frye, or Big Man. I think her popularity comes down to weebs, simps and national pride from Japanese players lol
Don't spend years guessing what the new console is and when it will release. Enjoy what you have now instead. The Switch is a huge success and has a massive, amazing library of games. People are so ready to leave it in the dust, not realising how good we have it, or they aren't willing to go back through it's library and buy anything that isn't brand new.
In the end, the same people who spend 80% of a Nintendo console's lifecycle looking at what comes next end up being the ones who complain that the next gen isn't powerful enough, when they should know it's all about gameplay over graphics with Nintendo.
I don't understand the emphasis on the younger target audience in this review. Every main Mario game since New Super Mario Bros Wii has only had high difficulty in special worlds and the rest is an enjoyable breeze.
The main campaign in Splatoon 3 was the best of the four we've experienced so far, so they have an uphill battle to top that. I'm really hoping Inkopolis Square becomes a 3rd hub in the game that can be accessed by train after completing Side Order. Oh, and I'm definitely going to main that Replica Octobrush when I've unlocked it.
If the next season Jun-Aug is the last update, I really hope they give us Urchin Underpass and Saltspray Rig! I would rather have them both than a new stage
@OctolingKing13 I'm not sure exactly what you mean but if they sold out for you they're back in stock on the My Nintendo Store in the UK and have been for a few weeks
@Narrator1 True and there were so many others. Samus in her Metroid Prime armour, Fury Bowser, Ghirahim, the Wind Fish from Link's Awakening, Ashley Mizuki Robbins, loads of Fire Emblem Engage designs, Oatchi and the ice/ghost Pikmin and so on...
I have a strong feeling that this will be the final amiibo. There are no others on the horizon atm and ending it with the final Smash Bros character after they originally began with wave 1 of Smash Bros amiibo would be fitting.
Personally, I think there are so many missed opportunities for amiibo designs that they could still make, but I guess the toys to life fad ended ages ago with other brands and they might want to create exclusive content in a different way with the Switch U.
I was about to buy Sonic Generations on Xbox 360 so this announcement came just in time! Loved Sonic Adventure 2 and Shadow the Hedgehog, so I'm really happy with this

Re: Review: Endless Ocean: Luminous (Switch) - A Meditative Marine Milieu, But Incredibly Shallow
@jojobar The last month that the 3DS was supported by 1st party releases was Jan 2019, whereas Samus Returns came out in 2017.

Re: Random: Sakurai Talks About "The Most Incredible Year For The Game Industry"
For me there are three years which come to mind
1998 for all the amazing games which released that year, some of which stand as the best game of their franchise, like Ocarina of Time and the original Banjo Kazooie
2006 for the build up to and launch of the Wii because there had never been anything like it and it was extremely exciting for 12-13 year old me.

Re: Best Pokémon Spin-Off Games Of All Time
I think the best spin offs are:
Pokemon Stadium
Pokemon Stadium 2
Pokemon Colosseum
Pokemon XD: Gale of Darkness
Pokemon Pinball
Pokemon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire
Pokemon Dash and Pokemon Channel are highly underrated and I'm tired of the way the fanbase treats those games.
Lastly, New Pokemon Snap is easily the best looking game in the series so far, in terms of graphics.
