Waiting for Zelda Wii U...

Re: Best Xenoblade Chronicles Games Of All Time

@Ralizah My problem with 3's plot is that from the very first cutscene where time freezes and you see another world colliding with Noah's, we as players who've experienced 1 and 2 know exactly what has happened and have to wait until Nia's explanation in chapter 8 for the characters to play catch up. That harmed the story-telling for me as did the way Z was written. He and Mobious are supposed to be the embodiment of everyone in Origin's sorrow, but he instead has a range of emotions, yet becomes more thinly written as the game goes on.

There was also less visual variety as the main cast are all a similar age and humanoid looking, as well as most of the settlements being army camps which looked too similar to each other.

All these things dampened the experience slightly and weakened the overall story, though Future Redeemed did a lot of heavy lifting to bring the game close to 1 and 2 in quality, even if it was held together by copious amounts of fan service.

I still love 3 almost as much the other two games, but my playthrough was definitely a bumpy ride and chapter 5 didn't change that. I would argue that Prison Island, facing Egil+the aftermath of that and the entire finale of XC1 & awakening in Morytha and exploring the body of Torna and climbing the World Tree in XC2 and the climax of Torna the Golden Country had much bigger and better moments in quick succession. The end of Future Redeemed was better too.

Honestly, the only reason chapter 5 seems really good in XC3 is because it's the first time in the game that the story really gets cooking and becomes unpredictable for the player, rather than just the characters. There are countless chapters in the other games which match, or surpass it in quality, because they reach similar highs (and without the need for such lengthy cutscenes).

Re: Poll: What Switch Game Could You Not Live Without?

@FishyS I understand where you're coming from, but the "Switch version was made for Switch" using code that was ported from the Wii U version in spring 2016. That original version of the game had been in development for many years at that point. It's the same reason I would consider the Wii and Wii U versions of Twilight Princess ports.

Re: Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4 Has Been Butchered For The Switch Remake

If true this would be disastrous as the career mode of 4 was it's defining aspect and the gateway to the future of the series. 4 is one of the most beloved games for the freedom it gave players and removing that would be like if a Super Mario 64 remaster transformed that game into a 2D, Super Mario World-like experience. Yeah, it would still be good, but would ignore the evolution 64 took for the series

Re: Round Up: The First Impressions Of Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds 'Closed Network Test' Are In

@Luffymcduck @N00BiSH

The below numbers are why MK8D is the "Smash Bros. Ultimate of kart racers"

CTR NF
Characters: 56
Franchises represented in character select: 2
Amount of tracks: 39
Franchises represented by tracks: 2

MKD8
characters: 54
Franchises represented in character select: 5
Amount of tracks: 96
Franchises represented by tracks: 7

(If there are any more franchises covered by CTR let me know, but I can only see Crash and Spyro representation)

CTR NF is a good game overall. I got 20 hours out of it completing the story mode and unlocking all the characters, but I was done with it after that. Some Crash fans will argue its better because it's harder to learn the controls, but the way you can only grind online for currency to buy things and the lengthy time it takes to do so without paying for microtransactions left a bad taste for me. It made playing the game any time other than when the weekend currency bonus was active not worth it. I can't respect a game with microtransactions.

Re: Can You Name These Zelda: Majora's Mask Masks?

LXP8

I got 23/24 because the Troupe Leader's Mask one stumped me. I forgot they changed it's name to that in the 3DS version :/ I completed the other questions really quickly too, since Majora is my second favourite game and I've been playing it since 2000.

Re: Random: Hideki Kamiya Would Rather You Not Play Okami On The Wii

LXP8

I guess since he didn't make Okamiden he won't want fans playing that either, or acknowledge it in Okami 2?

The Wii version had better brush controls and none of the weird graphical errors that were in the HD version, but everything else about HD is better. Also, kinda random but in the Wii version, the sky box in Shinshu field was blue instead of white and looked much nicer.

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's N64 Library With Namco Classic 'Ridge Racer 64'

This was one of the hardest games of my childhood. I only had two cars left to reach 100% completion, but they wouldn't go down easy. The course was set at night and the blurry, grainy graphics mixed with the motion blur and insane speeds made it seem impossible. The car 'Screamin' Eagle' which was the most difficult challenge in the game would always end up a whole lap ahead. I still have my save file but can't defeat them to this day...;(
