Waiting for Zelda Wii U...

Re: Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom New Art And Screenshots Revealed By Nintendo

LXP8

@VoidofLight I didn't mean it takes over him completely, more that it's a representation of the evil in his heart that hasn't grown strong yet. Personally, I believe Demise's final words indicate the reason for Ganondorf's never ending evil. He says "I will rise again" and "An incarnation of my hatred...", not to mention how Ganondorf physically ends up resembling Demise in many ways. In the Japanese version he says that his own hatred and his tribe of demons will curse Zelda's descendants and future heroes forever. Given that Ganondorf had already returned to destroy Hyrule in so many Zelda games by 2011, it's clear that Nintendo was laying the origins of that aspect of the series.

I didn't see the bearded Gerudo in the trailer, so gonna check that out again. Hopefully it's not just a Hylian disguised as a Gerudo male like in BotW lol

Re: Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom New Art And Screenshots Revealed By Nintendo

@VoidofLight Yeah I know that but you just said "Male gerudo" in your first comment, so of course I'm gonna count the only character in the series we know for sure is that. I like to consider Groose the other male Gerudo based on his personality & physical traits, but I guess the tribe hadn't formed at that point in Hyrule's history.

Maybe those purple cracks opening all over Hyrule in Echoes of Wisdom could be time gates. I'm guessing the young male-looking Gerudo in the screenshot could be child Ganondorf who travelled through one to exist at the same time as his older self. Perhaps the evil intentions of Demise that live within him haven't awoken yet and he's a good-hearted child who wants to help the kingdom stop his future self.

Re: Review: World Of Goo 2 (Switch) - A Superb Sequel With A Few Sticking Points

LXP8

I bought it and agree completely with the review. I'm on world 2 and the game is as fantastic as the original and much more difficult, but the controls are a pain. I'm having to use the left joycon so I have access to the screenshot button, which isn't helping either lol

If Nintendo gave the option for us to buy a sensor bar for Switch, Joy Cons would then work more precisely than a Wii remote. Instead, the constant need to recalibrate has slightly marred games like this, Skyward Sword HD and Super Mario Galaxy in my experience.

Re: Braid: Anniversary Edition Sales Have Been "Utterly Terrible", Says Creator

LXP8

@rjejr Yeah as someone who has been following the game since it's announcement, the marketing for World of Goo 2 has been horrible. The was a trailer in a Direct quite a while ago and then nothing until almost a week before release. Not to mention that there's no eshop page in the UK, so no opportunity for people to wishlist it :/

Re: Random: The New Denpa Men Is Getting Roasted For Its Translation Issues

LXP8

As a fan of the series since the original, I'm disappointed :/

  • The translation has obviously been AI generated and this is the 2nd time this year that AI has blemished a game I've looked forward to for many years (Endless Ocean Luminous being the other)
  • The gyro aiming when catching Denpa Men is broken and I had to disable it.
  • The free to play aspect of the game feels seedy when the original trilogy cost less than £10 each and provided 30+ hours of content per game.
  • The need to be constantly connected to the internet is terrible and the way it frequently has to spend a moment connecting takes me out of the experience. Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't it also mean that one day the game will be shut down, like the Japan-only smart phone Denpa Men game? Why would I want to spend money on a game like that?
  • The original trilogy looked superb for downloadable 3DS titles. This looks like they took all the assets from the smart phone version (which itself was created from 3DS assets), blew them up on the big screen and made it HD.
  • The scale of the world and available activities was always growing with each new game in the original trilogy. This game feels like it's stuck somewhere between Denpa Men 1 and 2.
  • There are timed events, with missable exclusive items, meaning in future the game will be impossible to 100% when replayed.

Thanks for trying to bring back the series Genius Sonority, but I will just stick to the original Trilogy and your Gamecube/Wii Pokémon games.

Re: Ex Chibi-Robo Devs Announce Spiritual Successor 'koROBO'

LXP8

Very happy about this. The graphics look nice to me. I do prefer Chibi-Robo's character design, but maybe I'll grow to like this guy too. It would be cool if the time of day changed in real-time. I want to chill on a window ledge and watch it become sunset lol

Re: Japanese Charts: Luigi's Mansion 2 HD Vacuums Up The Competition In Its Debut Week

LXP8

For me the cost of the game was worth it, due to the updated textures/models/lighting, more comfortable and improved control scheme because of the second analogue stick and ergonomically shaped controller, ability to play on the big screen, screenshot/video functionality, and so on...The only feature of the 3DS version I will miss is the 3D effect.

I already liked the game on 3DS but this raised it to being nearly as good as 1 and 3 for me. I'm happy to have the series be more consistent in quality now.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom Box Art Has Been Revealed

LXP8

@Yalloo Personally, I think the amount of purple used in-game and on the box art is to help emphasise to customers that this is a game where you play as Zelda, since her classic outfits almost always use that colour. It's similar to how the Princess Peach Showtime box art had those pink ribbons on it.

Re: The Legend Of Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom Box Art Has Been Revealed

LXP8

In Link's Awakening this art style was supposed to represent a dream world, with a more realistic anime art style being used for reality. Therefore, I personally hope there's a good reason it's being reused for this game.

Oh and correct me if I'm wrong, but including Breath of the Wild's map, this is the only other brand new version of Hyrule we've had in a mainline Zelda game since Skyward Sword released in 2011!

Re: 'Yooka-Replaylee' Brings Back Playtonic's Love Letter To Banjo In Remastered Form

LXP8

@somnambulance Exactly, I've been waiting for years to get Tooka Laylee, not the first game again. After all the problems the original had and the fact that Nintendo players are in the same console gen, this should definitely be free.

Oh and I remember when they opened the Yooka Laylee kickstarter for a Wii U version which they then cancelled and blocked anyone in the Playtonic forums who inquired about it!!

Re: Marvelous Provides Development Update On New Story Of Seasons Game

LXP8

@Pillowpants True, it's definitely one of the most popular genres these days. Though, I think we can give SoS a pass for adding to that, since they've always released this many games per gen and it's the original farming sim series. If any farming game series deserves to continue, it's this one

Re: Marvelous Provides Development Update On New Story Of Seasons Game

LXP8

I'm really excited for this game, it's easily the prettiest looking game in the franchise yet and the focus on weather and time of day effects is exciting. If SoS: FoMT and SoS: A Wonderful Life are anything to go by, this will be another really strong experience (I haven't got round to Pioneers yet)

Re: Nintendo's Profit During The Switch Generation Is Absolutely Wild

LXP8

With the below games still on the horizon and a Direct coming next month, the future is looking bright for Switch. People saying there is a drought this year really need to broaden their horizons beyond just the biggest franchises.

Paper Mario the Thousand Year Door
Luigi's Mansion 2 HD
Ace Combat 7
World of Goo 2
The Plucky Squire
Sonic x Shadow Generations
Fantasy Life i: The Girl Who Steals Time
Professor Layton and the New World of Steam
Decapolice
Shin Chan: Shiro of Coal Town
Pokemon Legends: Z-A
Metroid Prime 4
