Well, Baldurs Gate 3 now has 96 on Metacritic as expected but I guess they just wanted the clicks

@sunspotty The quality of Splatoon amiibo over the years has been all over the place, but all other franchises have only improved. The difference in quality between my Shulk and Pyra/Mythra amiibos is insane

I preferred the format of one new map and a returning one as I'm very nostalgic for Splatoon 1 and 2

@EaglyPurahfan Yeah hopefully Pikmin 4 will receive DLC. Although it may not be due to it's success as Pikmin 3 on Wii U also had DLC packs.

I reached the credits in mid-July with 85.6% completion. I knew I'd done a lot but I was still surprised it was such a high number

@Jiggies I totally agree with you and I would also add Banjo Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts to that list. It seems like people dislike games which change things too much from the original template and go into them with hate, or never even give them a chance in the first place

@Cashews Exactly. Literally every list on this site about any franchise suffers from recency bias (whether staff or reader voted) except maybe Pokemon lol

Genuinely surprised and relieved that Splatoon 1's online is coming back. I'll definitely go on it tomorrow since there should be a fair few returning players and it's been years since I played some matches on good old Salt Spray Rig :')

@Anti-Matter It's all the positive aspects of the game which you didn't list that make it such a beloved and very unique entry in the series. There's a reason the creator of Harvest Moon looks back most fondly on A Wonderful life.

@Andee I originally played Seasons first and kept doing so for years, but tried Ages first last time and it's just as fun that way.

Saying that I would recommend starting with Seasons first as it's overall the easier game, so it makes more sense that way round. Hope you enjoy them!

Still got my original copies from when I was a child for the Gameboy color and the 3DS versions, but it will be nice to play them in HD

My favourite games in the series and my favourite gen overall. You just can't beat that summer vibe they have and all the improvements they brought to the formula blew me away. Not to mention the amazing soundtrack and legendaries which looked incredible!

Yeah I ordered these from the Nintendo store and they arrived on 21st along with Pikmin 4. Both amiibo look incredible, up there with some of the best like the BOTW Guardian, Skyward Sword Zelda, Magnamalo and Malzeno. When I placed them next to Shulk it was clear as day how far they've come with improving the paint work and details in the faces

They should be arriving in my post any time now 😁

@ALinkttPresent I mean yeah, I agree with all your points, but I think they're a given at this point. I just wanted to say how Breath of the Wild is too padded out with lesser content compared to Ocarina

Breath of the Wild is Ocarina of Time but with all the most exciting and important parts spaced much further apart, using a a ton of lesser content like reward/combat shrines and korok seeds to fill those 100's of hours worth of padding

@RodSD64 I 100% agree. It felt like they expanded the universe of Pikmin nicely with 3 by introducing Koppai and the Plasm Wraith being a potential recurring enemy and it would be a shame to wipe all that away just to attract a new audience

@JohnnyMind It's because all of Olimar's logs in the demo suggest he's never met Pikmin before or seen an Onion and is naming and describing his first experiences with those things

@PipeGuy64Bit Alph had no reason to like Louie after he stole their food so his comment about how he'll will be fine on his own could be his way of showing he has no love for Louie. My guess is Olimar requested they go back for him because even though Louie has caused him a lot of trouble, they're still work partners and he's been through a lot with him + the boss wouldn't be too happy if he returned without Louie a second time.

As for the Pikmin running towards the crash landing, they run into the grass and the camera pans up before the ship hits the planet so you don't see the moment they're startled by the impact and run away.

Edit: never mind just seen that they altered the timing of the crash landing cutscene in the Switch version. It's not that big a deal to me as it's just a few seconds difference in timing but I can understand how some fans might be annoyed that the events now play out slightly differently

I still might buy these one day but I'm aware of how expensive 3 is on the market and that 4 never even hit western shores :/

The spectacle of the scene was fantastic but emotionally I didn't feel much. The king of all Master Sword moments is still Ocarina of Time with it's perfectly executed Ganondorf twist, time travelling seven years, becoming adult Link for the first time, shift into a more serious tone, incredible music etc.

I guess the Shiekah and Skyview Towers aren't based on the towers in Far Cry after all...right?

I've always liked white pikmin the most because they felt rarer and more special than the rest. Also, their appearance suited the caves they came from really well and just looked cool with the red eyes.

Surprised they're the least voted of the main Pikmin types and that no one else has mentioned them in the comments yet

I'm really disappointed that the plot is a reboot of the series (unless some really wild things happen in the story with Olimar to change that). Also as someone who's played since the first game, I wish they kept the world of the game more realistic and abandoned, instead of having well-kept looking scenery in the background. I'm hoping the darker tone the games usually hide is still present and that it's not all so cute and clean looking, but it does seem they're aiming for a wider audience this time. I'm sure the full game will still be really fun though

I would argue that Nintendo is the dominant player when it comes to console exclusives

Whenever I tried to convince my friends to play Pikmin I'd tell them how cool it was to see them carrying Duracell batteries and Haribo packets. I'm kinda intrigued to see what those items look like in this remake but yeah, a part of the games identity has probably been lost a little by their absence

Surprised I don't have these considering how many issues of that mag I picked up back in the day

Very excited for this so hoping for a physical release of it here in the UK. Hope it's more popular than their last game

To me the best animation currently comes from Studio Chizu and even though their work gets high critical praise and awards, they don't have enough mainstream impact compared to the animation American studios put out

@Deviant-Dork The combined total for Wii U and Switch sales of Mario Kart 8 is 62.25 mil copies. I said the Switch version had sold almost 60 mil as it's at 53.79 mil copies

Skyrim is on every modern platform imaginable and yet MarioKart 8 Deluxe has sold almost 60 mil on Switch alone

I received the Malzeno amiibo from Japan today so this is very fitting news for me I had a really tough time taking down Amatsumagatsuchi in Sunbreak, comparable to the struggle of defeating Valstrax in Generations Ultimate, so I hope I can clear this one final challenge!
