Re: Team Ghost Is Victorious In Splatoon 3's 'Splatoween' Splatfest

LXP8

@SoIDecidedTo That's really impressive man! I've partaken in a lot, but missed many too. Wish I'd joined the final Splatfest in Splatoon 2 where Pearl and Marina had exclusive outfits 😑 I've been with the series since the beginning as well and put 700 hours into the original and over 1000 into the series in total. Maybe we've battled a few times in the past without knowing haha Splatoon is life so I'd say you made the right choice 😂

Re: Team Ghost Is Victorious In Splatoon 3's 'Splatoween' Splatfest

LXP8

I usually pick Frye since she has the best design and almost always gets the best Splatfest theme. Saying that, I went with Big Man this time because ghosts seem like they would make the friendliest companion. Glad I reached splatfest ruler so I'll get the maximum payout 😁

@Croctopus At the end of the day Splatfest is just a silly, fun feature in the game and not something to be treated with such importance. You shouldn't gloat about Shiver's past success in comments, or feel bad for losing this one. I think if you hate what some people are posting and you're saying they're whiney, maybe it's better to be less invested in the results and enjoy other parts of the game instead 🤷‍♂️

Re: Review: Dave The Diver - One Of The Best Games In A Year Of Greats

LXP8

My predictions for this year's Game Awards:

GOTY
Baldur's Gate 3 (They'll want to keep it's surprise success story going with this award. It'll be the perfect story for the media and in turn give the Game Awards more coverage)

GOTY nominations
Tears of the Kingdom (BotW won in 2017, so they won't choose TotK to avoid making themselves look predictable)
Mario Wonder
Spiderman 2
Final Fantasy 16

Pikmin 4 (the real GOTY 2023) will win best strategy game, or best family game to tick a box, but won't be nominated for GOTY as it isn't deep, serious, story-based "oscar bait", or as well known and beloved as Mario.

Re: Talking Point: What's The Most Difficult Mainline Mario Game?

LXP8

@Nool The impossible pack is the hardest set of standard Mario stages and it's a real shame they're no longer available from the eShop as of this year. You had to beat all three as regular Mario (with no power ups hidden anywhere) and if you died at any point, you go back to the beginning of level 1. The obstacles & strict timer were brutal. I think it's harder to complete than any single challenge in NSMBU, but probably in the same ballpark as going for gold medals in the latter's hardest challenges.

'Don't. Touch. Anything' still gives me nightmares. I think I only reached bronze because I was just happy to have made it to the end lol You have true dedication and I hope you manage gold.

I had a lot of difficulty with Champion's Road on Wii U, as I was too lazy to go get power ups from a different level each time I failed. So I ended up completing it as regular Mario which was tough. On Switch I completed it with all 5 characters, so either I got better, or the tweaked character speed and added air dive move helped haha

Luigi U had that horrendous fire bar level in the special world where you need to keep regular Mario to be able to ground pound for a star coin right at the end and I refuse to ever complete that level again 😂

Re: Round Table: Let's Talk Mario Wonder - Surprises, Badges, Difficulty, New Characters

LXP8

I've reached world 6 and done all but two of the special world levels. Nothing in this game comes close to the difficulty of NSMB2's hardest dlc levels, or the challenge stages from NSMBU, such as the "don't touch any coins" ones. I'm totally fine with that since there are more brand new mechanics in this game, so they've played it safe with the difficulty in the same way they did with Super Mario Odyssey.

Also, the drum sound when doing a ground pound originated in NSMB DS

Re: Feature: What Video Game Consultants Actually Do, And Why ‘Kit & Krysta’ Are Doing It

LXP8

@samuelvictor It's really insightful to hear your knowledge on the way the film industry works and how it compares to the gaming industry too. I love a well put together film trailer and they can definitely be more entertaining than the film itself on occasion. I think there's an art to how they're made and people who edit and compose for trailers don't get enough credit. On another note, it's really cool that you're in Rogue One. I've watched my bluray of that film countless times and was lucky enough to see Gareth Edwards on Stage at Star Wars Celebration 2016

Re: Random: Masahiro Sakurai Showcases His Rare Gaming Collectibles

Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The Nintendo Direct, Then?

LXP8

I think the Switch will continue for a few more years without a successor, as it was only last year that the President of Nintendo said the console was around the half way point of it's life. Everyone is complaining about how weak it's specs are now but Nintendo has always been about the gameplay and artstyle over graphics and the console is still really popular.

One somewhat lesser direct doesn't mean the console is winding down to me, as they've always had consistently strong and weak showings. It's more down to how many bigger games they have nearing completion whenever a Direct is put out.

Re: Another Code: Recollection Remakes Two Cult Classics On Switch in January 2024

LXP8

@RainbowGazelle The new features I noticed were voice acting, redesigned environments, new puzzles and likely reworked puzzles too since they relied so heavily on DS/Wii control gimmicks, clothing redesigns and camera perspective/control changes. I hope they wrap up a storyline that was left dangling in Another Code R, so there may be extra story too.

Re: Another Code: Recollection Remakes Two Cult Classics On Switch in January 2024

LXP8

For me, this was the best announcement of the day. I'm not sure who's developing it but I'm just happy because I never thought this would happen after Cing's closure. They look great so far and I'm glad both games are included with voice acting too!

I just hope there's a physical version so I can display it with the original Another Code games and that they add closure for a certain character's storyline in the 2nd game.

Re: Best Nintendo Switch RPGs

LXP8

As expected, Blue Reflection: Second Light isn't on the list, even though it deserves to be and scored highly on this very site

Re: TOTK Director Is Extremely Vague On Game's Placement In Zelda Timeline

LXP8

@OldManHermit Tears of the Kingdom's Ganondorf is the third in the timeline. There was the one from OOT who was resurrected many times. However there was also a second Ganondorf born in the adult timeline in Four Swords Adventures, after the original Ganondorf died in Twilight Princess.

I'm one of less than 1 mil players who bought Four Swords Adventures when it released, so I don't blame you for thinking Ganondorf is just one guy

Re: Nintendo Looks To Be Updating Its Smash Bros. amiibo Packaging

LXP8

@Spider-Kev Even when the Zelda amiibo got a restock post TotK release, the new Link amiibo wasn't restocked. That one has been getting scalped since it sold out in May so you might have quite a wait on yours hands. I'm starting to feel more appreciative than ever that I managed to get Pyra and Mythra myself

Re: Round Up: The Previews Are In For Super Mario Bros. Wonder

LXP8

I think the backgrounds in Kirby's 2D games on Switch look more impressive but the game still looks really great visually. I'm disappointed that you can't interact with other players in co-op though as it's that help, or harm gameplay that made it so hectic and fun

Re: Pokémon Fans Beg TPC For Pokémon Pinball Revival As Sequel Turns 20

LXP8

@EarthboundBenjy That happened to me too but I could never figure out the reason why. If it was the Gameboy Player that caused it, that would be a strange reason since it was supposed to enhance the game haha I have a good eye for cartridge legitimacy and mine definitely is, so I don't think that's the cause
