Re: The Live-Action Zelda Movie Is Coming To Netflix

JohnnyMind

As long as it's actually after its cinema run, physical and digital purchasable releases then I don't mind it at all (in fact, even more people will most certainly watch it thanks to this) - anyway, looking forward to seeing/hearing more about the Zelda movie and then watching it, hopefully in cinema... although for now I'm more excited about the new Mario movie also considering that we're getting closer and closer to it!

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition?

JohnnyMind

First and foremost, let me reiterate once more the fact proven by the modding scene that 60fps would require the code of the game to be completely reworked to avoid issues when it comes to the animations etc.
Then, there's the matter of the 3.0 update coming out practically at the same time - Nintendo could've easily made that part of the Switch 2 Edition upgrade to make it beefier and considering the work of their developers also on that and so cost, yet they didn't...
Last but not least even though that's my personal opinion, it makes more sense to me to rate the Switch 2 Edition together with the rest of the game than on its own anyway so considering that the game is straight up improved thanks to it and all previous updates now I'd say 10 - Outstanding with little reservations compared to when the game originally came out (so looking forward to replaying New Horizons myself whenever its time comes for my channel)!

Re: Hi-Fi Rush Has Been Rated For The Switch... Again

JohnnyMind

This time it should be for real since I seriously doubt (and also really hope that won't be the case) that Krafton will ditch Tango Gameworks like Microsoft did anytime soon if ever - looking forward to the official announcement and finally playing Hi-Fi Rush myself whenever it comes out!

Re: Mystery Product Code Sparks Rumours Of A New Switch 2 Model

JohnnyMind

Seemed to remember that the original Switch models had similar codes between each other in addition to it making sense, but glad to have confirmation of that - with the new model most likely out of the way considering that first and foremost, how long it took them to release new models for Switch etc. I'm quite curious about what this might end up being, looking forward to its official announcement whenever it happens (unless plans change of course, even when it's not just a rumor there's always that possibility although I have my fingers crossed that won't be the case)!

Re: Review: Dynasty Warriors: Origins (Switch 2) - A Super-Solid Port Of Fantastic Reboot

JohnnyMind

Thanks for the review, was already interested in this game to finally play a Dynasty Warriors myself - seemed like a great starting point considering the "Origins" in the title -, but even more so after reading this so I'm absolutely playing it when I can (glad there's a toggle between locked 30fps and unlocked so everyone can choose their preferred option, we'll see which one ends up being for me also depending on me playing in docked and/or handheld)!

Re: Opinion: I'm Happy amiibo Survived The Console Jump, But These Unlocks Are Getting Silly

JohnnyMind

... The bike skins are exactly the kind of stuff à la TOTK Paraglider Fabrics etc. and yet this article itself complains about them not to mention all the complaints in general about them, not surprising that such amiibo unlockables are less and less common nowadays and once more it's a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation for Nintendo - personally, even as someone who has most amiibo I prefer them simply unlocking stuff earlier à la Diva Dress in Bananza so that everyone has access to that even without them (and honestly they've always been figures to me first and foremost anyway)!

Re: Preview: Raising My Daddy Rank At A London Gyoza Bar

JohnnyMind

@Warioware Thanks for telling me but yeah, I'll most likely enjoy it anyway (and I should play it regardless to get the full picture other than for the game itself) - so glad Yakuza games are finally also on Switch 1 and 2 so others and I finally can play them!

Re: Zombies Return In Resident Evil Requiem, But Now They're More Terrifying Than Ever

JohnnyMind

Watched the showcase before reading the article (nice that Nakanishi-san himself talked about the game during the former) - while there are some aspects that I don't particularly care for like the splatter etc. overall I'm getting more and more interested in giving Resident Evil in general and Requiem in particular a try when I can although most likely I'll start with 4 on Switch also considering that I've finally got it thanks to the latest Capcom sale!

Re: Donkey Kong Bananza Has Been Nominated For Even More Awards

JohnnyMind

Love to hear it, good luck to all the nominated games (looking forward to seeing the results and as already mentioned here I'm also glad to see awards happening after the end of the year and these categories for a change) - I've finally finished Bananza myself and absolutely loved it, looking forward to playing more of it as part of my gaming schedule between the postgame and DLC!

Re: Preview: Raising My Daddy Rank At A London Gyoza Bar

JohnnyMind

Thanks for the preview and glad you got to play this in advance at this event, Jim - I've only recently started playing Yakuza thanks to 0 coming also to Switch 2, but I'm already in love with the mix of serious and silly, the side content etc. in this series so I'm definitely looking forward to playing Kiwami 3 in general including these modes in particular (not anytime soon since I have the abovementioned to finish and then Kiwami 1 and 2 to play before it, but still)!

Re: Video: Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Side-By-Side Graphics Comparison (Switch 2 & Switch)

JohnnyMind

And of course there are some still complaining about the lack of 60fps while ignoring the fact that the code of the game would have to be completely reworked to get that while avoiding unintentional behavior (modding has proven what happens if you force 60fps in this game) - not to mention of course that 30fps will undoubtedly be more stable even on busier islands...
Leaving that aside, even on PC with a lower resolution I can see the difference so it will be great on my 1440p portable monitor which I use to play Switch 2 docked and thanks to the system in general of course the loading times are quite improved, too - was looking forward to it regardless, but thanks to this it will be even more a pleasure replaying New Horizons whenever its time comes for my channel!

Re: Review: Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition - A Cheap Upgrade, But Lacking Substance

JohnnyMind

Personally, I'll gladly take these additions to make New Horizons even better than it already was on Switch 2 and especially for such a low price - in my opinion it's nice that they kept only these features as part of the paid upgrade while including everything else in the free update (I can't help but feel that it's a damned if you do and damned if you don't situation though, if they had included more in the former from the latter people would've most likely complained about Nintendo locking such contents behind a paywall even for those on Switch)!

Re: Japanese Charts: Nintendo's Dominance Continues As Switch 2 Flies Past 4 Million Units Sold

JohnnyMind

Again, even beyond the Japanese charts reminder of how much Switch 2 sold globally in comparison to Switch and some other Nintendo systems and PS5 during the same timeframe, i.e. their respective first 6 months (and it's far from not selling even when keeping the comparison strictly to the weekly hardware comparisons, shoutout to VGChartz for all that) - doomers and those straight up profiting from the negativity won't listen regardless, but I hope everyone else will look at the actual data...

Re: Japanese Charts: Nintendo's Dominance Continues As Switch 2 Flies Past 4 Million Units Sold

JohnnyMind

Curious to see if there will be an increase next week for New Horizons and to what extent, honestly considering how much it has already sold it's selling well even as is.
Anyway, love to see Mario Kart World in 1st and selling that much, Momotaro Dentetsu in 2nd and 3rd, Legends Z-A in 4th and 5th and both actually selling even more than Mario Kart when combining the sales of their two versions (especially Momotaro, over 110k), Air Riders in 6th (surpassing Bananza as others have already mentioned), Bananza in 7th, Jamboree in 8th, New Horizons in 9th and of course Switch 2 on top of the hardware charts selling like crazy as usual!

Re: Animal Crossing: New Horizons Update 3.0.0 Patch Notes - Switch 2 And Switch New Content, Features And More

JohnnyMind

Glad to hear about even more additions thanks to the addendum to Nintendo Life's review and now also comments here - looking forward to all this myself whenever I replay New Horizons (not only I don't have the time for it now as usual, but also considering the matter of one island per system I'll most likely do so exclusively for my channel at some point)!

Re: Random: Feeling Blue? This 91-Year-Old Zelda Fan Will Make Your Day

JohnnyMind

First and foremost absolutely lovely person in general (although let's be honest, even more so for me and most likely others here because she really loves games and Zelda in particular) and incredible collection - wish her the best going forward and so glad she can now replay her older consoles and games thanks to everything being organized!

Re: "He Is Amazing" - Mario Voice Actor Kevin Afghani Heaps Praise On Charles Martinet

JohnnyMind

Not surprised Kevin said this but still, love to see it and Charles absolutely deserves all the respect (would be great though if people were at the very least politer towards the former as well regardless of their thoughts on him as Mario's voice, personally I think he's overall pretty good) - that said, let's not forget all Mario's VAs outside of the games, here's a list for those curious!

Re: Nintendo, Sony And Xbox Update "Safer Gaming" Principles

JohnnyMind

How I wish they actually let players and in the case of minors parents "control gaming experiences" by just leaving it up to them also through parental controls etc. instead of banning games that were rated without issues - when it comes to Nintendo nowadays due to Nintendo of America (after a decade or so of censoring the contents of several Nintendo games, it's an American issue in general) and so unfortunately more often than not also Nintendo of Europe and of course back in the day, Sony in the recent past although ironically I've heard the situation has improved for now while I have no idea how the situation has ever been on Xbox...
Considering that I'm skeptical about this being for the best but still, I have my fingers crossed that it will exclusively be about actual safety and not further censorship!

Re: Nintendo Music's Latest Update Adds Mario & Luigi Switch Soundtrack, Includes 94 Songs

JohnnyMind

@Markatron84 Glad to hear you've just finished Brothership and even more so that you enjoyed it so much - absolutely agree with you, would be even better if those aspects were improved (less so the writing for me although it could be also due to differences in localization since I played it in Italian, curious to see how it is in Japanese when I eventually replay it for my channel), but overall it's a great game as is and the same goes for its soundtrack!

Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Year In Review 2025 - Our Most Played Games

JohnnyMind

Really appreciate seeing the stats and comments about the Year In Review of Nintendo Life's team - including newcomer Mai, nice! I'll post mine here, too (of course had already done so in the previous article).

Here's my Year In Review for my personal account:

  • 55 Games for 766 Hours;
  • 1st Brothership (52), 2nd Engage (47), 3rd Tactica (46);
  • Genres: Action (34%), RPG (29%), Adventure (17%), Strategy (10%), Platformers (6%), Party (4%);
  • played the most in May (72 hours);
  • chose Guardians of Azuma as my favorite!

Here's the one for the account I use on my YouTube channel (so starting from the end of June):

  • 21 Games for 164 Hours;
  • 1st Famicom (57), 2nd Nintendo 64 (40), 3rd Game Boy Advance (20);
  • Genres: Racing (34%), Party (30%), Action (18%), Board Games (9%), Golf (6%), Basketball (3%);
  • played the most in October (32 hours);
  • chose CrossWorlds as my favorite!

Re: Level-5 CEO Says He's Already Started Work On The Next Inazuma Eleven Game

JohnnyMind

@Ogbert I can see where you're coming from, but I'd say it simply depends on the company - especially when relatively small although not necessarily as proven by Level-5 themselves (another example that immediately comes to mind of a company where the CEO is also involved in the development of their games and even more so in that case is Too Kyo Games).

Re: More Switch Games Have Received Switch 2 Compatibility Updates

JohnnyMind

Lol "Cats on Duty" - anyway, good to hear that these games have been fixed (in particular Brilliant Diamond in my case for when I'll replay it for my channel at some point and by the way, overall still enjoyed it despite the downsides already mentioned here) and that the issue in Return to Dream Land Deluxe has been identified so it will eventually be fixed, too!

Re: Hazelight Founder Josef Fares On EA: "Let's Be Honest, There's Not A Publisher In The World That Hasn't F****d Up"

JohnnyMind

I can see where he's coming from and it is something worth keeping in mind to not fall into black-and-white thinking, but at the same time as already mentioned here it's a matter of how much a publisher (and gaming company in general) does that and its consequences including the solutions they employ - I'm sorry, but between a company like Nintendo that avoided layoffs even when they were genuinely struggling during the Wii U era and others including EA that went for those and even more so repeatedly I have no doubts about which one is worse!

Re: "I Don't See AI Taking Over" - Split Fiction Director Josef Fares On The Rise Of AI

JohnnyMind

I have serious doubts generative AI will go away anytime soon if ever - I keep on seeing people mentioning the "bubble bursting", but as @Milk_ pointed out last time the topic came up this could be another internet situation in which a handful of companies end up controlling it -, but it "taking over" is absolutely not an inevitability, it's a matter of how companies might use it... which is why personally I'd rather focus first and foremost on games and even more so their creators not being negatively affected by it (unfortunately for some the latter seems to be only a rhetoric because they certainly don't hesitate doing that themselves if it's for the sake of their crusade against genAI as a whole, just look at the backlash against Larian here on Nintendo Life and elsewhere due to using it just for reference and despite them actually being hiring more concept artists and so not replacing actual concept art and artists with AI at all)!

Re: Nintendo's Investors Are Reportedly "Spooked" As Stock Slides

JohnnyMind

Even more ridiculous the point about discounts as there have been hardware ones in the US/EU during the holidays (I've seen with my own eyes both Switch 2 on its own and the bundle discounted on Italian Amazon while people here on Nintendo Life mentioned those in several other regions), not to mention again that Switch 2 has so far been selling more than both Switch and PS5 during the same timeframe according to VGChartz's comparisons based on the data etc. - yet another example of why you should focus on the actual situation and not hypotheticals...
