Nice that they fixed all these issues and pretty cool that they did so by implementing a fan translation in the case of the Simplified Chinese update - hope those playing Silksong will further enjoy it thanks to this (I'll eventually give it a try myself anyway, but how I wish I didn't have to worry about potentially not being able to finish the game like it unfortunately has already happened to others here)!
Wish Miyamoto-san the best until Mario's 50th anniversary and beyond first and foremost as a fellow human being, but of course also as a big Nintendo fan - looking forward to the games, movies etc. he (and obviously also everyone else involved in them) has been and will work on regardless of his role and thanks for everything so far!
@krogp Yes, both wireless and wired - for example, 8BitDo's Retro Receiver and Brook's Wingman Converter SNES respectively according to this (haven't tried either myself, hopefully someone else here on Nintendo Life can share their personal experience with these and/or other adapters).
Yep, finally got one myself when someone mentioned this in a comment here on Nintendo Life, should arrive this week - looking forward to playing SNES games with it (mostly for my channel) and hope all my fellow Europeans interested in getting it will be able to do so thanks to this restock!
Luckily I had no issues with the Switch games I played so far so apart from the ones mentioned by others here on Nintendo Life (Nier to make the most notable example and also considering that I'd like to eventually play it myself and preferably on Switch 2 as much as I still have my Switch, technically Klonoa although I have it physically so I should be fine anyway etc.) none in particular come to mind and as luckily already mentioned if backward compatibility didn't work this way you wouldn't get games with performance issues running better as is either so overall I'm glad it works this way instead of how it used to on previous Nintendo systems.
Anyway, nice that they made this to make it easier to search for specific games - fingers crossed most if not all of the games still with issues will be fixed although again, it's not exclusively up to Nintendo but also their creators!
Didn't know about several of those instances of the 'Akira Slide' so thanks for including that video - anyway, great article and honestly I'm not surprised that Samus also does it now that she has a bike but still, it's a fun detail so personally I welcome it!
Definitely getting the new colors next time I play Street Fighter 6 as part of my gaming schedule - pretty cool also the part of the crossover for City of the Wolves (absolutely including the trailer here), too bad that the game isn't available on Switch 2... hopefully yet!
Personally I'll play with the Japanese voices of course but still, nice to see the full list of the English VAs and even more so their excitement in the linked posts (some I haven't checked in detail to avoid potential spoilers) - anyway, so looking forward to starting Age of Imprisonment as soon as my copy arrives!
Voting for Europe as it has more characters than Japan and it's nice to see both the original artwork and the in-game sprites (the Japanese one having just the artwork is perfectly fine as well, though) - the less said about North America in every sense the better...
I should finally go back and at least finish the Crash games already on Switch (haven't even started It's About Time unlike the other ones) but still, yes please to a new game in general - fingers crossed Crash finally comes back for good!
Didn't realize this was a timed Xbox exclusive last time we saw it, even happier that it's now coming also to Switch - will eventually give it a try myself for sure (in addition to the gameplay which seems interesting in general and potentially fun for me, like others here I absolutely love the artstyle)!
Interesting that it's a new in-house engine, pretty cool - sounds like it will be convenient for creators at Bandai Namco and I'm so glad for them (by the way, pretty funny choices for the emoji in the photo to hide the faces)!
I've never heard of GUN beyond its name so thanks for the article in this occasion (speaking of, happy 20th anniversary) - I'll consider giving it a try myself at some point... but I should finally play Red Dead Redemption first and foremost also considering that I already have it on Switch!
Ah, glad that it's just free until that date and then you have to pay for it, was worried that it wouldn't be available anymore at first - anyway, pretty cool and one more reason for me to get Civilization VII sooner rather than later if I can (and then play it when I have the time for it as usual)!
@OpheliaDynamight First and foremost thank you, but it's worth mentioning that on the flip side it takes me a long time to even just finish games (I bet that when I finally start Bravely Default myself it will take me longer than you) - both approaches have their positives and negatives, in my case I can't help doing it this way as there are way too many games that interest me!
Maybe there will be a difference in resolution, but based on this comparison the updated Switch version is clearly the same as the Switch 2 one when it comes to textures and geometry (and so now it's evident why the former has online matching with itself and the latter, but not the unpatched Switch version) - considering that I'm even happier that I've preordered a Switch physical copy and regardless, so looking forward to finally playing Sparking Zero when that arrives!
@OmnitronVariant Again, both Digital Foundry after testing it - at this point I've watched at least the verdict part of the video and I quote, "despite some rough edges in image quality and pop-in [...] with a high enemy count and effects, pushing Switch 2 beyond what was possible before" and so on - and players in practice as seen in this very comment section, reviews etc. say otherwise, you do you...
Tonight I'll most likely see my friends, we'll play some board and/or video games (no D&D for sure as one of us won't be there). Maybe before that and tomorrow for sure I'll continue with my schedule of alternating between:
Fitness Boxing (didn't play it; 3 did 3 Box-and-Bond for Lin - FotNS did Battle Mode);
Ring Fit Adventure (didn't play it; 7 Worlds completed and 4 finished);
Tears of the Kingdom (continued going around to find the remaining Voice Memories, found all those on the Surface - also found some Koroks; all Towers, Tears, Tablets, Lightroots, Shrines, Temples, Sidequests, Caves, 165 Voice Memories and 181 Koroks);
GameCenter CX (completed the 5th game; first GameCenter CX, 6 Games of the second one completed, second GameCenter CX and 3 Games finished);
Freedom Planet 2 (did 1 stage as Carol; Story as Lilac - 21/63 Badges);
Jamboree (continued getting the remaining Minigame achievements - also got a photo; all Mini Stars, 93/116 Achievements, 26/30 Photos);
Brothership (finished the "final" area... except that there's actually more; all Reefs, Islets and Sidequests, 20 Islands, 1145 Lumenade, 24 Challenges);
Dragon Quest III (went around the new region; 14 Dungeons, 82 Mini Medals);
Persona 5 Tactica (did 2 missions; all Quests, 3/4 Kingdoms, 48/52 Missions, 29/30 Hideout Conversations);
Xenoblade Chronicles X (did an affinity mission and so unlocked the pets and a lot of Heart-to-Hearts - also did a couple of basic missions; 5/?? Chapters, 13/?? Affinity, 23/?? Normal, 36/?? Basic Missions and 27/?? Heart-to-Hearts - Mira 16,88% - 69/204 Story, 29/315 Combat and 49/222 World Achievements);
Guardians of Azuma (finished exploring the new area for now and so advanced the story - also did a bonding quest; 75/?? Main, 28/?? Bonding Quests - 50/?? Bestiary - 5/45 PescaPedia - 14/36 Quests, 2/6 Battles, 1/16 Bonds, 5/8 Everyday Life and 5/7 Kamiwaza Seals);
Fantasy Life i (finished Chapter 5 and started Chapter 6 - also did some Life quests and personal requests; 5 Chapters - Lives 14 Apprentice Rank - 34 Personal Requests - 35/128 Monsters, 36/130 Resources, 6/49 Strangelings, 6/50 Characters);
Mario Kart World (did a Grand Prix; 14 ? Panels, 30 P Switches and 10 Peach Medallions in Free Roam - 96 Characters, 33 Vehicles and 224 Stickers);
Soul Calibur II (did the currently available stages and so unlocked the final one of Sub-Chapter 3 in Weapon Master; Arcade as 1 character - Weapon Master finished, 2 Chapters and 1 Sub-Chapter completed);
Street Fighter 6 (started doing the currently available sidequests in World Tour; World Tour 7 Chapters and 10 Sidequests);
@OmnitronVariant It's a hybrid system and way, way cheaper than anything else like it on the market for the features it has so yes, I do blame people for having excessive expectations - again, Digital Foundry themselves (according to this article of course) say that "these resolution targets are generally pretty good considering the effects-heavy gameplay" and that the frame rate "sticks to 60fps for the most part", not to mention the experience in practice of those here who have played this game... it's a matter of priorities and I'm sorry, but if people are so bothered despite all the abovementioned they could and should get another system instead!
Looks great but yeah, I doubt I'll get it myself not only considering the starting price, but also that it will most likely sell out pretty quickly - anyway, happy for those able to get it!
By the way, dancers have been part of the series ever since Mystery of the Emblem (here's Phina's page where you can see her official artwork) - just like literal catgirls last time, this is nothing new for the series...
Of course would've preferred this being better from the get-go but still, better late than never and even more so considering how quickly they're fixing it (less so on Switch, but as mentioned also in this very article it's in good part if not exclusively due to the "certification timelines") - looking forward to finally giving Plants vs. Zombies a try myself when I can and so after several of these updates, too!
I can see where Inafune-san is coming from, but at the same time I'd say it's something that has always been going on in the gaming industry to some extent as ironically proven by Mega Man games back in the day (no matter if nowadays it's one of those IPs Capcom should bring back and not just with compilations), the various genres that were especially popular at certain moments and so on - even more than the reliance on certain IPs and/or genres I'd say the biggest issue when it comes to gaming companies nowadays is focusing mostly if not exclusively on big games when they could and should make also smaller and/or experimental games as already mentioned here to avoid putting all their eggs in one basket... like overall Nintendo have been doing as pointed out also by the article and that's exactly one of the reasons why they're in a better position compared to others!
@PolitiClank Please, let's stop comparing way, way bigger development teams (along with everyone else working on other aspects of these games such as marketing etc.) to "a small indie games team" according to Team Cherry's own site if not even individual developers - what's feasible for the latter isn't for the former and I'd rather not see even more lay-offs in the gaming industry than unfortunately there already are!
Weird that the third trailer is missing but anyway, nice to see an English version for at least these two (of course in my case I've already watched the original Japanese ones) - so glad Victory Road is finally coming out, looking forward to playing it myself when I can!
Happy 20th birthday Nintendo Life - wish you as many years and more (and as long as you keep on being overall good just like you've been I'm definitely sticking around and also supporting you)!
Looking forward to checking out the list whenever it's ready (unfortunately can't vote myself for some reason and no, I'm not changing settings in my browser just for that)!
@HammerGalladeBro I know, but as you mentioned yourself DKL2 and DKL3 are overall closer to their respective DKC so I ended up including them - funnily enough even if you don't want to count those then there's the literal Donkey Kong Country on Game Boy Color which I forgot to mention in my previous comment (and also the Game Boy Advance ones, but those along with so many other rereleases came after Yamauchi-san resigned... and so when Iwata-san was president, further proving that it has always been a thing no matter the president)!
Quite appreciate that there are several amiibo which can unlock each villager, it will increase the chances of people already having or at the very least finding them - again, doubt I'll replay New Horizons anytime soon even after the update myself (most likely it will happen when I inevitably replay it for my channel also considering that you can't have more than an island per system), but when I do I'm absolutely getting these villagers!
@Flashlink99 Fingers crossed for an Age of Calamity update!
As for Animal Crossing, it could still be 30fps due to some technical limitation - my guess would be because of the online as if I recall correctly based on the wording in the trailer you can still connect with people who have the Switch version (of course not up to 12 players since that's exclusive to the Switch 2 Edition, but still) and it could cause problems or at the very least look jarring if the two versions ran differently or maybe they simply wanted to guarantee stability even on particularly busy islands, who knows.
Even Digital Foundry themselves (according to the article, sorry but I don't have the time for the video now and honestly not particularly interested in it myself anyway) state that "these resolution targets are generally pretty good considering the effects-heavy gameplay" and yet you know for sure that people will complain about them anyway - it has already started in this very comment section... personally, I'm glad to hear that it's great in practice according to those here who have played it both in general and for myself as it will most likely be the same for me then when I finally start it as soon as my copy arrives!
@Don Even back then there were a lot of Nintendo rereleases - Super Mario All-Stars, several Satellaview games, Link's Awakening DX, Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, the Donkey Kong Land series, the Super Mario Advance series, Animal Crossing and so on (here is a list including those and more)...
I can definitely see that being the case based on what I know about Yamauchi-san (and of course considering that this is coming from Miyamoto-san who worked with him) - anyway, so glad that Switch 2 is already so successful and this is just the beginning!
Not watching this since I'm waiting to play it myself by taking part in the test on stream this Sunday and potentially also the following one (and then of course the full release as soon as my copy arrives) - that said, nice for those interested in watching it and happy that Alex got to play Air Riders thanks to this occasion!
Will be even more interesting for me since I know Japanese but still, pretty cool in general - downloading it immediately (also in case it gets taken down, but I sure hope that won't happen)!
Imagine if people constantly claimed that what YOU worked on - even more so since it's what you're getting paid for - should be free... Leaving that aside, glad to hear that Age of Imprisonment is getting such updates and as long as it's feasible for their creators (which should be the case, otherwise you'd most likely have to pay for them) that they're free, looking forward to seeing what their contents will be!
Will try to get all these at some point (the wood block amiibo set comes first though), again both for my niece first and foremost and of course also as collectibles for me - regardless, these are all so cute, happy for others also going for them!
Man, you can't even genuinely be happy for others when something doesn't interest you personally these days (while apparently calling what others enjoy "crap" etc. is fine)...
Leaving that aside, love to see that they're releasing these also individually for those interested in that - as for me, I'll try to get the full set for my niece first and foremost but let's be honest, also as a collectible for me!
Curious that this is a separate app as others have already mentioned but still, so cute - absolutely downloading it as soon as it comes out (to give it a try myself for now, but this and the previous Mario one will be great for my niece when she's old enough for them)!
Love to hear it in general and also personally since it's perfect for me (my portable monitor for docked is 1440 as that was the max to have also 120fps when I got it) - again, looking forward to playing the festival on stream this Sunday anyway, but I'm excited to play CrossWorlds even more so when this upgrade comes out and onward!
Mario Kart World has already sold 9.57 million copies and so has a 92% attach rate while Bananza 3.49 million units which is incredible for a Donkey Kong game and impressive in general so I wouldn't say this isn’t what fans want in the system's first year no matter how much some complain about them on the internet (and of course we can't make a full comparison with Switch's first year since there are more games to come, when it comes to first parties potentially even beyond the recently released Age of Imprisonment and upcoming Air Riders, Mario Tennis Fever, Yoshi and the Mysterious Book other than of course Switch 2 Editions)... Leaving that aside, couldn't agree more about third-party support and yes, it's already a dream come true for me as well and yet it's just the beginning - so looking forward to seeing what other games will come to Switch 2, both first-parties and third-parties!
Yep, Dragon Quest is just that big in Japan but still, love to see it! Also happy to see Legends Z-A in 4th and 6th, Mario Kart World in 5th, Xillia in 7th and 8th, Bananza in 8th, Earthion in 10th (wish all those after Mario Kart sold better though, especially Xillia and Earthion considering it's their debut) and of course Switch 2 on top of the hardware charts and selling that much, followed by Switch!
So glad the Switch 2 version is finally coming and that there will be an upgrade (we already knew about that, but it's still worth emphasizing it since it's unfortunately the exception instead of the rule for games by Sega) - looking forward to playing the game this Sunday in occasion of the Kasuga Ichiban festival anyway, but even more so after this comes out!
Wouldn't have the time for it now (and I should play World of Assassination first and foremost also considering that I already have it) anyway, but I'm waiting to see/hear the differences with the Switch 2 version, if it will be a completely separate release etc. - regardless, hope those going for Absolution will enjoy it!
Not convinced about A Link to the Past getting a remake either (doesn't mean I wouldn't take one if it ever happened, though) and honestly any kind of rerelease of Chrono Trigger on Switch 1 and/or 2 would be welcome - the former you can already play on those systems in both its original SNES version and GBA one, the latter is completely missing... and the same reasoning applies to other games in this list!
Preordered Age of Imprisonment physically from my usual retailer here in Italy, will eventually get Biped 2 for sure, maybe also Goodnight Universe and that should be it unless I missed something and excluding potential additions (both have happened before and even recently - by the way, thanks to those commenting in these articles as your games might end up piquing my interest, too)!
I seriously doubt it as well and honestly more than another IP surpassing Mario Kart's sales I'd like to see other IPs (not just Nintendo ones even though of course this is about those specifically) selling more in general - luckily we've already seen that happen on Switch, fingers crossed that it will continue on Switch 2!
Checked out the Tips & Tricks section for now, great suggestions (there were some of the ones about aspects specific to Age of Imprisonment that I didn't know about while it was nice to review the rest of them) - will be back for the rest if I ever need it!
Pretty cool, looking forward to my copy of this even more than I already was - not playing it anytime soon though since I'm currently playing Yakuza 0 and after that I still have Kiwami 1 and 2 to play before this!
Yeah, doubt this will end well both in terms of the results and the employees (doesn't have to, but only with human supervision and potential intervention and unfortunately I'm not confident at all that they'll do it that way) - again, I've heard of legitimate usages of genAI even in real life and not just when it comes to videogames, but those negatively affecting the former and even more so the latter aspects are not that... and by the way, those who last time called out Square Enix about going against others using genAI just due to infringing their copyright while wanting to use it themselves in potentially way, way worse manners were spot-on!

Re: Nintendo Launches Switch 2 Backwards Compatibility Search Page
Luckily I had no issues with the Switch games I played so far so apart from the ones mentioned by others here on Nintendo Life (Nier to make the most notable example and also considering that I'd like to eventually play it myself and preferably on Switch 2 as much as I still have my Switch, technically Klonoa although I have it physically so I should be fine anyway etc.) none in particular come to mind and as luckily already mentioned if backward compatibility didn't work this way you wouldn't get games with performance issues running better as is either so overall I'm glad it works this way instead of how it used to on previous Nintendo systems.

Re: Hiroshi Yamauchi Might Feel Envious Of Switch 2's Success, Says Miyamoto
@Don Even back then there were a lot of Nintendo rereleases - Super Mario All-Stars, several Satellaview games, Link's Awakening DX, Super Mario Bros. Deluxe, the Donkey Kong Land series, the Super Mario Advance series, Animal Crossing and so on (here is a list including those and more)...
Re: Hiroshi Yamauchi Might Feel Envious Of Switch 2's Success, Says Miyamoto
I can definitely see that being the case based on what I know about Yamauchi-san (and of course considering that this is coming from Miyamoto-san who worked with him) - anyway, so glad that Switch 2 is already so successful and this is just the beginning!
Re: Video: We've Played More Kirby Air Riders, So Here, Have Some Gameplay
Not watching this since I'm waiting to play it myself by taking part in the test on stream this Sunday and potentially also the following one (and then of course the full release as soon as my copy arrives) - that said, nice for those interested in watching it and happy that Alex got to play Air Riders thanks to this occasion!
Re: Random: A Rare Nintendo Company Guide From 2000 Has Been Uploaded Online
Will be even more interesting for me since I know Japanese but still, pretty cool in general - downloading it immediately (also in case it gets taken down, but I sure hope that won't happen)!
Re: Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment Already Has Free Updates Planned
Imagine if people constantly claimed that what YOU worked on - even more so since it's what you're getting paid for - should be free...
Leaving that aside, glad to hear that Age of Imprisonment is getting such updates and as long as it's feasible for their creators (which should be the case, otherwise you'd most likely have to pay for them) that they're free, looking forward to seeing what their contents will be!
Re: Gallery: Nintendo Updates Its 'My Mario' Product Line With Multiple New Yoshi Items, Here's A Look
@Tibob I'm not so sure that will happen, but I'd absolutely love to see Woolly World finally come also to Switch sooner rather than later!
Re: Gallery: Nintendo Updates Its 'My Mario' Product Line With Multiple New Yoshi Items, Here's A Look
Will try to get all these at some point (the wood block amiibo set comes first though), again both for my niece first and foremost and of course also as collectibles for me - regardless, these are all so cute, happy for others also going for them!
Re: Nintendo Reveals Three More Super Mario Wood Block amiibo Sets
Man, you can't even genuinely be happy for others when something doesn't interest you personally these days (while apparently calling what others enjoy "crap" etc. is fine)...
Leaving that aside, love to see that they're releasing these also individually for those interested in that - as for me, I'll try to get the full set for my niece first and foremost but let's be honest, also as a collectible for me!
Re: Nintendo Announces 'My Mario' Yoshi App For Switch And Mobile Devices
Curious that this is a separate app as others have already mentioned but still, so cute - absolutely downloading it as soon as it comes out (to give it a try myself for now, but this and the previous Mario one will be great for my niece when she's old enough for them)!
Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Performance And Resolution Revealed
Re: Opinion: Third-Party Support For Switch 2 Is Already A Dream Come True
Re: Japanese Charts: Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake Shoves Pokémon Off The Podium
Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Gets Faster On Switch 2 Next Month
So glad the Switch 2 version is finally coming and that there will be an upgrade (we already knew about that, but it's still worth emphasizing it since it's unfortunately the exception instead of the rule for games by Sega) - looking forward to playing the game this Sunday in occasion of the Kasuga Ichiban festival anyway, but even more so after this comes out!
Re: Hitman: Absolution Shoots Onto Switch 1 Next Week
Wouldn't have the time for it now (and I should play World of Assassination first and foremost also considering that I already have it) anyway, but I'm waiting to see/hear the differences with the Switch 2 version, if it will be a completely separate release etc. - regardless, hope those going for Absolution will enjoy it!
Re: Zelda: A Link To The Past And Chrono Trigger Are "Ripe For Remakes", Says Analytics Firm
Re: Nintendo Download: 6th November (North America)
Preordered Age of Imprisonment physically from my usual retailer here in Italy, will eventually get Biped 2 for sure, maybe also Goodnight Universe and that should be it unless I missed something and excluding potential additions (both have happened before and even recently - by the way, thanks to those commenting in these articles as your games might end up piquing my interest, too)!
Re: Shigeru Miyamoto Isn't Convinced Another IP Will Surpass Mario Kart's Sales
I seriously doubt it as well and honestly more than another IP surpassing Mario Kart's sales I'd like to see other IPs (not just Nintendo ones even though of course this is about those specifically) selling more in general - luckily we've already seen that happen on Switch, fingers crossed that it will continue on Switch 2!
Re: Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment: Walkthrough Guide, Tips & Tricks
Checked out the Tips & Tricks section for now, great suggestions (there were some of the ones about aspects specific to Age of Imprisonment that I didn't know about while it was nice to review the rest of them) - will be back for the rest if I ever need it!
Re: Yakuza Kiwami 3 & Dark Ties Details Emerge Ahead Of February Launch
Pretty cool, looking forward to my copy of this even more than I already was - not playing it anytime soon though since I'm currently playing Yakuza 0 and after that I still have Kiwami 1 and 2 to play before this!
Re: Square Enix Aims To Automate 70% Of QA With Generative AI By 2027
Yeah, doubt this will end well both in terms of the results and the employees (doesn't have to, but only with human supervision and potential intervention and unfortunately I'm not confident at all that they'll do it that way) - again, I've heard of legitimate usages of genAI even in real life and not just when it comes to videogames, but those negatively affecting the former and even more so the latter aspects are not that... and by the way, those who last time called out Square Enix about going against others using genAI just due to infringing their copyright while wanting to use it themselves in potentially way, way worse manners were spot-on!
