Re: Preview: Despite Low Expectations, Pokémon Pokopia Had Me Grinning From Ear To Ear

JohnnyMind

And this is exactly why others and I seriously doubt Pokopia is going to "flop" regardless of some people's opinions (or let's be honest, hopes due to those) on the game itself, its distribution method and/or the Pokémon series in general: combining Pokémon with the gameplay of all those games mentioned in this very article is a recipe for success...
Personally, the games themselves and even more so their creators are what matters the most to me, the former seems to be great also based on this and so I really hope, other than being pretty sure that will be the case, it will sell well for the sake of the latter - anyway, glad to hear Ollie enjoyed it and so looking forward to playing it myself when I can!

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Mario Tennis Fever For Switch 2?

JohnnyMind

By the way and yet again, instead of obsessing over starting prices people could and should simply look/wait for discounts (they eventually happen in several region including both the US and even more so the UK and in some even day one), just look at Deku Deals and I'm glad it has already been said by others this time - the misinformation about that has to stop...

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Mario Tennis Fever For Switch 2?

JohnnyMind

Technically I've already pre-ordered it discounted, but we'll see if my current preorder ends up being delayed or not (if it does and excessively so I'll cancel it and get the game elsewhere) - anyway, getting it for sure and so looking forward to playing Fever myself, again even when it comes to the single player there seems to be more compared to console Mario Tennis and only beaten by the RPG modes of the handheld ones... glad I'm not the only one pointing that out this time!

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Mario Tennis Fever

JohnnyMind

Practically any (online) competitive game develops its own metagame which favors some aspects over other ones while still being perfectly fine...
Leaving my perplexity about that review aside, glad to hear most enjoyed Fever and that it has a lot of contents (less so when it comes to the single player but again and now also considering these additional reviews, it seems that it still has more than other console Mario Tennis and it's only beaten in that department by the RPG adventures of handheld ones) - looking forward to playing it myself when I can even more than I already was!

Re: Review: Mario Tennis Fever (Switch 2) - Slim For Singles, But An Addictive Core Gives It Online Legs

JohnnyMind

Thanks for the review, as much as I would've preferred more single player I'm glad to hear that the core gameplay, multiplayer, amount of contents at launch etc. are great (and honestly based on this even the former still seems to offer more than previous console Mario Tennis, I've played all games in this series except for the Virtual Boy one and only the handheld ones really focused on the single player) - so looking forward to playing it myself when I can!

Re: If You Like Paper Mario's Newest Entry, This Nintendo Music Update Is For You

JohnnyMind

Regardless of opinions on the game itself (although I'd say it was overall at least great and even more importantly most enjoyed it despite certain aspects), its soundtrack is absolutely fantastic, so glad it's now also on Nintendo Music - by the way, looking forward to the next Paper Mario game, would be great if it were a mix of the best elements of past ones along with new ones (would also gladly take more rereleases of past ones)!

Re: Video: Monster Hunter Stories 3 Trial Demo Side-By-Side Graphics Comparison (Switch 2, Xbox Series S, PS5)

JohnnyMind

Should always wait to see how the full release is, but in this case even more so as apparently the Switch 2 version was playable at events and ran better there so the demo could be an even older build than that - regardless, I'm so looking forward to this game (not sure when I'll even just start it though considering I have the previous Stories to play first and foremost)!

Re: Rayman Really Is Back, According To The Series Creator

JohnnyMind

Looking forward to actually seeing this game whenever they're ready to announce it and then most likely playing it myself when it comes out - not sure if I'll start with this or another Rayman game already on Switch, but I'm excited to properly play this series instead of having barely done so (one or two GBA games on emulator and Legends at a friend's house)!

Re: Pokémon's Super Bowl Commercial Was Probably Expensive, Unsurprisingly

JohnnyMind

Spoke too soon, now there's an article about this also on Nintendo Life (at least now that it has been updated it's done in a much more tasteful way than elsewhere, but still) - again, here is a discussion mentioning facts disproving the narrative based on the most certainly incomplete leaked Z-A budget for those interested in more than sensationalism, so glad others in this comment section have already countered that, too...

Re: Mario Tennis Fever's Opening Movie Is As Cinematic As They Come

JohnnyMind

Nice to finally see the opening movie fully instead of just parts of it like when the game was announced - so looking forward to playing Fever myself (will wait to see if my current preorder arrives not long after the official release date, if it doesn't then I'll cancel it and get the game elsewhere)!

Re: UK Charts: Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined Starts Strong, But It's Not Enough To Reach The Top

JohnnyMind

Considering these are the UK charts and that above it are just the usual EA Sports FC, Mario Kart World and Nioh 3 which is another new release I'm so glad to see Dragon Quest VII in 4th and selling the most on Switch 1 and 2 when combining their sales and the latter almost on its own!
Also personally happy to see the abovementioned Mario Kart World in 2nd, New Horizons in 5th, Legends Z-A in 6th, 8 Deluxe in 9th, Bananza still in 10th, the Galaxy bundle in 12th, Switch Sports in 13th, Jamboree in 14th, Wilds in 15th, Armored Core VI in 17th, Wonder and The Witcher III still in 18th and 19th, Prime 4 in 22nd etc.!

Re: Jigglypuff Is Joined By Up-And-Comer Lady Gaga In Pokémon's Super Bowl Ad

JohnnyMind

By the way yeah, as I also mentioned last time the topic came up the older mainline games and especially the original ones are infamous for glitches and bugs (and that's despite being way smaller and so less complex than the newer ones) and yet people keep on fixating exclusively on the latest ones - in addition and as much as Scarlet & Violet could and should've been better from the start, how I wish "of extremely poor or unreliable quality" games were actually like them as even nowadays way too many games are much worse when they launch and/or take longer to be fixed if that ever happens in the first place...

Re: Talking Point: Age Of Imprisonment Could Inspire Next Zelda Game, Say Devs, But What Does That Mean?

JohnnyMind

Great article and yep, I'd also say that the narrative might be what Aonuma-san was referring to, but there are also other aspects potentially implied along with or instead of that, here are some of them:

  • related to the narrative they might go for more than one protagonist (most likely Link and Zelda, but there are other possibilities), each one doing their own thing and then brought together at the very least in the end game;
  • the "living, breathing Hyrule Castle Town" as mentioned also in the article so more focus on such locations and/or the people of Hyrule;
  • the technical aspects which are overall quite impressive.

Considering all that and honestly regardless - I love practically all Zelda games, both older and newer ones, for different reasons - I'm so looking forward to the next Zelda game whenever they're ready to announce it and then eventually release it... and in the meantime the Zelda movie for sure and hopefully game rereleases etc. in occasion of the 40th anniversary of the series and/or the movie!

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - Super Bomberman 2 (SNES)

JohnnyMind

While I appreciate the additional bombs and explosion in the North American/European box art I'm voting for Japan has it has multiple Bombermen and so shows that there's also multiplayer - quite an important aspect when it comes to Bomberman games (that said, I'm looking forward to the single player first and foremost whenever I finally play it thanks to the new collection)!

Re: Pokémon Pokopia Switch 2 New Pre-Order Bonus Revealed (US)

JohnnyMind

Nice preorder bonus, happy for those in the US going for it - so looking forward to playing Pokopia myself (and like luckily it has already been mentioned here most likely it won't ever be a flop, combining Pokémon with the Dragon Quest Builders and Animal Crossing gameplay is a recipe for success regardless of some people's personal opinions on Pokémon, GKC etc.)!

Re: Round Up: The Previews Are In For Virtual Boy - Nintendo Classics

JohnnyMind

Yeah, anyone who's ever gone beyond the issues that can arise due to the headset depending on how you use it knows that there are some quality games on Virtual Boy - so glad Nintendo are finally rereleasing them, looking forward to finally playing them myself (still wonder if you'll be able to play them docked although most likely you'd get two screens and then have to hide one, we'll see)!

Re: Tales Of Arise - Switch 2 Performance And Resolution Revealed

JohnnyMind

Not surprised based on what I've seen and heard of this game before and now including luckily at least some comments here that know how it runs on other systems and unsurprisingly so considering its battles as you can see also in the trailer - regardless, glad that Arise is coming also to Switch 2 for those interested in it (me included although I'm not sure when I'll play it depending on not only me finding the time for it, but also which Tales of I'll start with, haven't properly played any of them yet)!

Re: Square Enix Is Making Changes To Its New HD-2D Game Based On Demo Feedback

JohnnyMind

Don't remember if it was mentioned in the international version of the Partner Showcase, but I know for sure it was in the Japanese one - anyway, glad they made these adjustments based on the feedback so that the game can be even better (kudos to Square Enix for releasing yet again a demo for this purpose), so looking forward to playing it myself when I can!

Re: Feature: "We Were Quite Nervous" - Star Trek: Voyager - Across The Unknown Dev Talks Returning Actors, Music & Fan Feedback

JohnnyMind

Great interview, quite interesting learning more about this game's development, structure and so on - looking forward to seeing/hearing more about it, but most likely I'll eventually give it a try myself as I'm interested in it and even more so after reading this (and that's despite having barely watched Star Trek myself, hope fans of the series in general and Voyager in particular will enjoy it, too)!

Re: Nintendo Showcases Every Switch And Switch 2 Partner Direct Game In New Infographic

JohnnyMind

Some keep on saying that it's "ports, ports" despite being disproven by this very infographic since more than a third and close to half of these games are day-and-date releases as already pointed out and even listed by others here and also last time in the related article, a couple of them even being exclusives - one thing is not being personally interested in them (which is fair, but I wonder what appeals to those people then as there's quite the variety of games here), another is claiming something that isn't true at all...

Re: Nintendo Download: 6th February (North America)

JohnnyMind

Already got the Hollow Knight Switch 2 Edition, will eventually get Dragon Quest VII and the Super Bomberman Collection for sure, most likely also Lovish (didn't know about that, thanks to those mentioning it in the comments), Cool Boarders - voting for the games up to here -, Card-en-Ciel and Ninja Gaiden II (definitely interested in it, but less of a priority considering it's also on NSO) and that should be it!

Re: Video: Pragmata Demo Side-By-Side Graphics Comparison (Switch 2, Xbox Series S, PS5)

JohnnyMind

Looking forward to seeing myself how the Switch 2 version (and of course the game itself which is what matters the most to me) is when I play it for my channel tomorrow - that said, also based on this it sounds like yet another overall great port, kudos to Capcom in this particular case and all the other companies porting their games to Switch 2 so that more can enjoy them first and foremost and even more so when the results are like this!

Re: Hamster's 'Console Archives' Starting Lineup Revealed, Includes More Than 10 Titles

JohnnyMind

By the way, reminder once more that NSO isn't your typical games as a service because not only the apps, but also their games get downloaded on your system and then they simply check if you have an active subscription so if it ever gets discontinued (not anytime soon considering the Switch 2 gen has just started) then it should still be accessible at least through modding unlike cloud games etc. - repeating that since even recently I've seen claims of the contrary, if I recall correctly when it comes to NSO Virtual Boy...

Re: Hamster's 'Console Archives' Starting Lineup Revealed, Includes More Than 10 Titles

JohnnyMind

Yep, some of these like UFO for example were also in the Japanese version of the Partner Showcase (saw them last night when I watched that for my channel) - anyway, nice starting lineup exactly because of its variety and inclusion of unexpected games, I'll definitely get at least some if not all of these myself... at some point also considering their prices, as much as these games being rereleased officially is what matters first and foremost and so personally I'm fine with that this is exactly why NSO replaced Virtual Console!
