Re: Nintendo Music's Latest Update Adds Mario & Luigi Switch Soundtrack, Includes 94 Songs

JohnnyMind

@Markatron84 The earlier ones were definitely shorter although they also had fakeout ending points, the later ones starting with Dream Team are more or less as long (less so Paper Jam based on what I've heard as funnily enough I've never played it either, but still) - couldn't agree more, I overall love Mario & Luigi games for the same reasons you mentioned etc., absolutely including Brothership!

Re: Nintendo Music's Latest Update Adds Mario & Luigi Switch Soundtrack, Includes 94 Songs

JohnnyMind

@Markatron84 You're getting pretty close, there's a last round of revisiting certain previous island and then you'll get access to the final area of the game - I can see where you're coming from (it's worth mentioning that it's typical of Mario & Luigi games in general and especially later ones), but I'm glad to hear that you've still been enjoying the game overall despite that!

Re: Capcom Announces Resident Evil Showcase, Teases Brand New Gameplay And News For Requiem

JohnnyMind

Doubt I'll watch it live considering it will be relatively late here in Italy, maybe the next day but of course at the very least the articles about it here on Nintendo Life - regardless, glad that this is happening for those interested in Requiem (the more I've seen and heard about it the more potentially me included although I'll most likely stick to my plan of playing 4 first and foremost when I have the time)!

Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds - Switch 2 Physical Edition Arrives This March

JohnnyMind

Happy that the Switch 2 physical version has a release date for those interested in it - personally, I'm glad I got a Switch copy and then the upgrade as soon as it came out (also considering the discount on the former day one thanks to my usual retailer here in Italy and the latter by Sega themselves for a week after its release other than of course getting to play it earlier that way and for my channel)!

Re: Nintendo Music's Latest Update Adds Mario & Luigi Switch Soundtrack, Includes 94 Songs

JohnnyMind

As much as I love the previous Mario & Luigi soundtracks, not only adding this to Nintendo Music makes the most sense since it's the Switch one (and apart from it only Superstar Saga is on the system currently), but I'd also say that both this game in general and even more so its soundtrack are at the very least underrated as already mentioned here - anyway, glad to see the updates to Nintendo Music continuing and looking forward to seeing what other soundtracks come to it going forward!

Re: Inazuma Eleven: Victory Road's Second Major Free Update Kicks Off This Month

JohnnyMind

Love to hear that Victory Road has already sold that much first and foremost, but of course also that the second major free update is coming and so soon - happy for those already playing the game and looking forward to doing so myself when I can (and if still available then which seems like it will be the case of course I'll redeem the gift code, too)!

Re: Site News: Please Welcome Mai, The Newest Member Of Our YouTube Team

JohnnyMind

Congratulations Mai, welcome to the Nintendo Life team in general and in particular the video crew - hope we'll see also articles, second opinions etc. by you here on the site from time to time just like Zion and Felix before (I'll most certainly watch at least some videos including you at some point as much as I barely watch the NL YouTube channel nowadays, but still)!

Re: UK Charts: Here's Hoping Animal Crossing Spices Things Up This Week

JohnnyMind

Yeah, the top 3 is exactly the same as last week and there are little changes to the top 10 in general.
Anyway, personally happy to see Mario Kart World still in 2nd, Clair Obscur still in 3rd, Legends Z-A in 5th, 8 Deluxe funnily in 8th, New Horizons in 11th (fingers crossed it will be even higher next time), Bananza in 12th, Switch Sports in 13th, Jamboree in 14th, the Galaxy bundle in 15th, Elden Ring in 19th, Skywalker Saga in 20th etc.!

Re: Nintendo's President Remains Coy On Potential Prices Increases

JohnnyMind

@Pillowpants In general and this is a great example of that, Furukawa-san commented on the current memory prices not having "immediate impact on [Nintendo's] financial performance" considering their actual situation (of course he won't tell the public exactly why, but an educated guess as already mentioned here is that it's due to previous orders and/or agreements), not straight up hypotheticals - as usual I wish that people and even more so journalists etc. didn't jump the gun, but again when profits are involved...

Re: Persona's 30th Anniversary Website Teases "The Next Chapter For The Series"

JohnnyMind

Of course we'll just have to wait and see, but if there's a good time to at the very least reveal Persona 6 it's the 30th anniversary of the series so I wouldn't be surprised if this were confirmed - in the meantime, fingers crossed 4 Revival gets confirmed also for Switch 2 sooner rather than later (and having finally finished Persona 5 and all the spin-offs on Switch I've started 3 Reload personally)!

Re: Nintendo's President Remains Coy On Potential Prices Increases

JohnnyMind

Moving on to what Furukawa-san actually commented on, other than them "working on both established franchises and completely new content" as expected love to hear that Nintendo want to further expand their work in the movie space and potentially venture into anime at some point, too - looking forward to the former (starting with the upcoming movies, especially the new Mario one considering it's closer and also my preference for animation although I'm curious about the Zelda one as well) and hopefully also the latter in the future!

Re: Nintendo's President Remains Coy On Potential Prices Increases

JohnnyMind

How I wish more avoided commenting on hypotheticals and causing needless panic, but of course there are those profiting from doing exactly that...
What we can comment on is what Nintendo have done so far, they've always tried their best to avoid price increases and especially on the console itself (just look at what they did relatively recently in the US due to the tariffs, everything but Switch 2 and games ended up costing more than at the start) - as for price decreases, those have already happened for both the system and games including Nintendo ones if to a lesser extent and will keep on doing so through discounts in several regions, exactly like it used to on Switch (and yet some keep on acting as if that weren't the case and even when it happens in their own home turf, look at this recent Nintendo Life forum topic for example)!

Re: Super Mario Bros. Wonder - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup In Bellabel Park Has Been Rated

JohnnyMind

As usual glad when games get rated and so they're proceeding - as for this one in particular, looking forward to seeing/hearing more about it first and foremost (wonder if as part of a full Direct most likely in February or as an individual video dropped at some point) as they teased by slightly showing it and also explicitly mentioned that they have more to announce about its contents other than of course the precise release date!
Speaking of, why are there way too many people here still ignoring (hopefully just because they genuinely don't know and not intentionally) that there's more to this than just the multiplayer?

Re: Opinion: Metroid Prime 4 Does This One Thing Better Than Any Other Nintendo Game

JohnnyMind

So glad to hear that Prime 4 has in-game remapping and multiple schemes depending on the situation for those who straight up need them first and foremost and also those who'd just like them (still feel that credit should be given where credit is due, while not the absolute best for the reasons mentioned in the article remapping at the system level ensures that practically any game's controls can be remapped) - fingers crossed we'll see such options in more and more Nintendo games going forward but I'm sorry, I'm definitely not as pessimistic because in general we have already seen more accessibility in Nintendo games, please let's not discount the colorblind straight up options and even just associating shapes to stuff distinguished by colors in several Nintendo games at this point, the motion-sickness settings in Air Riders and so on!

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - Mario Power Tennis (GameCube)

JohnnyMind

As I was kind of in a hurry because lunch was ready I forgot to mention Delfino Plaza in the background of the European/North American box art which is also notable when it comes to the peculiarities of this compared to other Mario Tennis titles - unsurprisingly so as it was typical to see elements from Sunshine in Mario games on GameCube in particular and to a lesser extent also later, but still (and it's also great for me personally as a big fan of Sunshine, especially in its locations, characters, music and so on)!

Re: Tales Of Berseria Remastered - Switch Performance And Resolution Detailed

JohnnyMind

Fingers crossed there aren't compatibility issues with Switch 2 (and even better if the frame rate is further stable on it, how I wish it got a Switch 2 Edition though) - regardless, so glad that Berseria is coming also to Switch, looking forward to playing it maybe even as my first proper Tales (only barely played Dawn of the New World back in the day)... although I already have all the games in this series available on Switch, it's exclusively a matter of deciding which one to start with and finding the time for them!

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - Mario Power Tennis (GameCube)

JohnnyMind

Europe/North America for me without a doubt, not only it has more characters, but also the partially titular Power Shots which are one of the peculiarities of this game compared to other Mario Tennis titles - by the way since it came up last time, the reason why box arts showing the contents of games is so important to me is that many if not most don't look at the back of game boxes before buying them (at some retailers you straight up can't do so due to how they display them) while everyone will look at the front... of course box arts that can do so while being aesthetically pleasing etc. are even better, but I'd say facilitating customers making informed purchases is what matters the most!

Re: Opinion: The Nintendo Console Nobody Wanted To Review Returns Soon, And I'm Here For It, Again

JohnnyMind

First and foremost thanks for the article Nathan, always appreciate hearing about your experiences as a game journalist back in the day - as for why Nintendo are rereleasing Virtual Boy games now I think it's mostly due to NSO, there's practically nothing to lose and only to gain by putting them on the service unlike selling them as Virtual Console titles and so on... and also because even something like Virtual Boy is part of Nintendo's history and no matter if it was a misstep at the time, it was their first attempt at 3D which later led to the 3DS just like the Wii U led to the Switch etc.!

Re: Review: Fire Emblem: Path Of Radiance (GameCube) - Aged & Easier Than You're Used To, But Still A Winner

JohnnyMind

Thanks for the review, so looking forward to finally playing Path of Radiance myself especially considering its story now that it's on NSO and so in a much more convenient way - that said, most likely I'll finish SoulCalibur II first and foremost and then I'll play the remaining GameCube games that I've never played according to their length so Wario World and Chibi-Robo before this (F-Zero GX I'm keeping for last also considering its difficulty while I played Wind Waker and Strikers back in the day, will replay the former in Japanese for my channel eventually while the latter I've already done so)!

Re: Rumours Of "Surprise" Witcher 3 Expansion Intensify

JohnnyMind

Would be pretty cool to get such an expansion in general and even more so since it would be a great opportunity to release a Switch 2 Edition as already mentioned by the article - looking forward to seeing if the former ends up being confirmed (again, even assuming that what everyone heard is true plans can change) and in that case if the latter happens, too!

Re: PSA: Switch Game Vouchers Won't Be Sold After January 2026

JohnnyMind

Yeah, expected Nintendo to stop selling the vouchers this year (my guess was by the end of the fiscal year and so March 31) - unlike Gold Points I've never used these myself as I always went for the physical versions also considering the same if not bigger discounts I got on those thanks to my usual retailer here in Italy, but I feel for those who wanted to get them digitally... fingers crossed we'll eventually see similar programs on Switch 2, could be since the ones on Switch didn't start as soon as the console came out!

Re: Larian "Would Have Loved" Baldur's Gate 3 On Switch 2, Will "Certainly Consider" Divinity

JohnnyMind

Unfortunate to hear that it isn't happening at the very least anytime soon if at all most likely due to licensing, would've loved to see Baldur's Gate 3 on Switch 2 - not interested in the new Divinity at all personally for the reasons already mentioned here (heck, there are horror games less disturbing and so that I'm more likely to play than what has been shown in its trailer and also in Original Sin 2 as I discovered due to discussions about that), but I surely hope it will come also to Switch 2 for those interested in it!

Re: Disappointed In The Switch 2's Joy-Con Colours? Dbrand Has You Covered

JohnnyMind

@Notsoavid Yeah, then even more so I wouldn't be surprised if not only there were wrinkles like in past products (sad to hear that was the case for you), but also some parts obstructed the space between the Joy-Cons and the system and so made the connection less stable to at least an extent - as mentioned I wasn't interested in these myself in the first place but still, thanks for telling me!

Re: Nintendo Accused Of Using AI Images In New 'My Mario' Marketing

JohnnyMind

Nothing new, some people are so obsessed with (gen)AI that they're seeing it even where it isn't used at all...
Personally, I'd rather focus on how it's used and avoid it negatively affecting games and even more so their creators - ironically some here and elsewhere clearly don't hesitate contributing themselves to workers losing their jobs for the sake of their crusade against AI as a whole, you can see it with your own eyes in the comment section of the first related article!

Re: Disappointed In The Switch 2's Joy-Con Colours? Dbrand Has You Covered

JohnnyMind

@Olliemar28 Ah, thanks for telling me, didn't expect such a product so I didn't realize that at first despite "skin" being already mentioned in the article - even happier for those interested in these then (since Dbrand's products are apparently quality ones the only issue I could see happening is them being even just slightly bigger than they should and so causing problems when attaching the Joy-Cons to the console, fingers crossed that won't be the case)!

Re: Disappointed In The Switch 2's Joy-Con Colours? Dbrand Has You Covered

JohnnyMind

More interested in the function than the aesthetic and I bet that these will be missing several features that the official Joy-Con 2 have (not only that's usually the case, but also considering the big price difference) - that said, glad these exist for those interested in them!

... Misunderstood what this product is as you can see below, but the gist of my original comment still stands personally (not going out of my way for a purely aesthetic change, even more so since I overall like Joy-Con 2 as they are similar to others here) and also considering the potential issue I mentioned - again, fingers crossed that won't be the case for those interested in this, but I'm definitely not risking myself!

Re: Poll: Will You Be Getting The New Joy-Con 2 Set?

JohnnyMind

Voting for maybe in the first poll since I'm interested for sure, but I'm not getting additional Joy-Cons for now and by the time I need them there might be other colors (or straight up special editions as long as I don't have to buy another system for them) that interest me even more - that said, I'd say this set is great, happy for those going for it!

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch 2's GameCube Library With Another Game

JohnnyMind

Lol at choosing that as the ending for the trailer - anyway, so glad Path of Radiance is now on NSO, looking forward to finally playing it myself and in a way more convenient way thanks to that when I can (have to finish SoulCalibur II first and foremost, but most likely I'll stick to my plan of playing them according to their lengths so Wario World, Chibi-Robo, Path of Radiance and last but not least F-Zero GX also considering its difficulty, good thing I've already played at least Wind Waker and Strikers back in the day)!

Re: Mario Tennis Fever Officially Reveals amiibo Functionality And Every amiibo Supported

JohnnyMind

Even better when amiibo just unlock stuff in advance like the abovementioned Xenoblade 3, the DK & Pauline one in Bananza etc., but cosmetics like these are perfectly fine as well in my opinion and I'm saying that as someone who does have all of these ones in particular and most amiibo in general (now that I think about it, wonder if you straight up unlock these or they only temporarily replace the ball, hope it's the former) - anyway, so looking forward to Fever whenever my copy arrives!

Re: Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP - Switch 2 Edition Locks In New Release Date, Includes Paid Upgrade (Japan)

JohnnyMind

Glad the release date is now confirmed for Japan (doubt it will come much later elsewhere, but we'll see), I'll most likely get the upgrade since I already have a physical Switch copy although it's great that there's also a Switch 2 fully physical release - anyway, looking forward to giving this a try even more than I already was thanks to this version when I have the time for it!
