Both openings are great in general and personally nostalgic (especially FireRed for me as it's the game I had as a kid, my older sister had LeafGreen while we shared Blue when it comes to the originals) - so looking forward to replaying FireRed, but this time in Japanese for my channel!
@Raccoonius By the way, I've just seen your first comment here - happy birthday and I hope you enjoy the games you ordered (I've only played Link's Awakening DX among those, but I absolutely love it and I wish it will be the same for you, too)!
@Raccoonius Ha ha indeed and I can't help it, so many games I'm interested in playing and/or replaying (the latter especially if I've never finished or completed them before) - that said, playing a single or few games at a time is also perfectly fine and has the advantage of letting you play them faster!
@PinderSchloss It's worth mentioning that I have specific slots each day, in the morning when I wake up dedicated to the games I use to exercise, after dinner and before sleeping for the rest (and of course also the schedule of my YouTube channel, those curious about it can find the link in my profile here on Nintendo Life), and I play them for only around 1 or at most 2 hours each, that certainly helps to avoid it being exhausting - anyway, thank you and it's the perfect way for me as much as I appreciate the benefits of playing one or few games at a time as abovementioned!
you can pay as little as around €10 per year for NSO including the Expansion Pack by sharing a family subscription with friends and/or acquaintances (some here on Nintendo Life are doing it together with other users);
NSO is different compared to other games as a service in the sense that you download the apps and their games on your system and they simply check if you have an active subscription so whenever it gets discontinued - not anytime soon considering that the Switch 2 gen has just started and I wouldn't be surprised if it continued also after - modding should come to the rescue by removing that check and so making them accessible even then.
Had no doubt that would be the case, but official confirmation is appreciated - fingers crossed they'll consider such releases at least for the remaining mainline Pokémon games at some point (also to avoid all the issues like save states etc. already mentioned here) and of course keep on putting the spin-offs on NSO!
Tonight I'm not seeing my friends so I'll just continue with my schedule of alternating between:
Fitness Boxing (3, did the daily workout once; 3 did 4 Box-and-Bond for Lin - FotNS did Battle Mode);
Ring Fit Adventure (did 1 level of World 14; 9 Worlds completed and 4 finished);
GameCenter CX (continued the 8th game; first GameCenter CX and 7 Games of the second one completed, second GameCenter CX 2 Games finished);
Freedom Planet 2 (did 1 stage as Milla; Story as Lilac and Carol - 25/63 Badges);
Dragon Quest III (finished the 19th dungeon, went around the new castle and previous locations; game finished, 19 Dungeons, 106 Mini Medals);
Legends Arceus (continued going around to catch all Pokémon; 26/27 Missions and 87/122 Requests completed - Pokédex 234 Seen, 223 Caught and 132 Max Research Level);
Xenoblade Chronicles X (did several normal mission and some basic ones - also got some Heart-to-Hearts; 6/?? Chapters, 21/?? Affinity, 54/?? Normal, 52/?? Basic Missions and 45/?? Heart-to-Hearts - Mira 25.30% - 91/204 Story, 39/315 Combat and 68/222 World Achievements);
Guardians of Azuma (finished the Underworld - also did some bonding quests; 112/?? Main, 98/?? Bonding Quests - 83/?? Bestiary - 16/45 PescaPedia - 22/36 Quests, 4/6 Battles, 2/16 Bonds, 6/8 Everyday Life and 6/7 Kamiwaza Seals);
Fantasy Life i (finally advanced the story, got a Strangeling - also did several Life quests and 2 requests; 5 Chapters - Lives 6 Expert and 8 Adept Rank - 55 Personal Requests - 73/148 Monsters, 69/138 Resources, 18/49 Strangelings, 18/50 Characters);
Mario Kart World (did a Grand Prix and slightly continued Free Roam; Mirror Three Stars 5 Grand Prix - 16 ? Panels, 36 P Switches and 10 Peach Medallions in Free Roam - 102 Characters, 40 Vehicles and 276 Stickers);
Soul Calibur II (completed Chapter 10 in Weapon Master; Arcade as 1 character - Weapon Master finished, 9 Chapters and 3 Sub-Chapters completed);
Street Fighter 6 (did a sidequest and so unlocked a new master in World Tour; World Tour 9 Chapters and 22 Sidequests);
Yakuza 0 (continued the business - also did a substory and a couple of minigames; 10 Chapters - 29.14% Completion, 23/79 Adventure, 37/84 Battle, 30/99 Business, 8/27 Substories, 11/85 Minigames);
Bananza (completed Sublayers 100, 101 and 102; game finished, 1 layer completed - 541/777 Banandium Gems, 523/696 Fossils, 104/117 Discs);
Pac-Man World 2 (completed 2 mazes, 1 level and so World 6; game finished, 6 Worlds, 25 Levels and 13 Mazes completed);
Age of Imprisonment (did 7 aside quests - also did many quests; 3 Chapters, 14 Battles, 48 Aside Quests and 106 Quests);
Persona 3 Reload (still 4/22, Tartarus up to 22F included);
Trails in the Sky 1st (went around Rolent and started the currently available requests; Junior Bracer Rank 9 21/30, 4/?? Requests - Rewards 16/??, Achievements 2/43 - Standard Menu 1/28);
on YouTube CrossWorlds (did two Grand Prix offline and took part in the Super Monkey Ball festival online);
Mario Advance 2 (completed World 2, 3 and started World 4; World 4 /43)!
Yep, have seen my Fire Red Japanese copy pop up this morning (also saved money by getting that, €15,60 for a ¥2000 card on Playasia) - so looking forward to playing it as soon as I finish Super Mario Advance 2 on my channel!
Nice predictions, looking forward to seeing what they'll show during this Presents (voting for Pokopia trailer, gen 10 teaser and TCG Pocket in the poll as my bets also to cover most of the categories) - already expected it to be bigger than usual considering that it's for the 30th anniversary, but even more so now that they've announced FireRed & LeafGreen before it!
Got the upgrade immediately and so tried it last night when I played Xenoblade Chronicles X as part of my gaming schedule, as much as I was enjoying it even before I'll absolutely take such an upgrade to further improve it (and gladly pay to support those who worked on this specifically and the creators of the game in general) - fingers crossed we'll get Switch 2 Editions for the other games in this series, too!
In addition to the usual reasons, I'm again going for one of the distinctive features of this gen, in particular Ultra Beasts and when it comes to those I can't not choose Nihilego first and foremost considering its major role!
Thanks for the review, looking forward to giving the Virtual Boy games starting with Wario Land a try myself (went for the cardboard version also considering that I don't know how I'll see it being partially stereoblind myself) - regardless, so glad even this system got an official rerelease and even more so since 2 unreleased games will finally come out due to it!
Can see where you're coming from, but I'd say this is more on the adorable side - regardless, happy for those interested in it (not particularly me included assuming it comes to Italy in the first place)!
@Judal27 Don't think there were additional requirements (i.e. other than of course having at least a regular NSO subscription and enough Platinum Points, but that applies to all icons) for these when they were available the first time.
Should've already got them all if they're exclusively repeats (sometimes there are additions) but I'll check - anyway, glad these are back for those interested who missed them!
Nice that they've now revealed the contents of this update and it's coming so soon - happy for those playing Victory Road (and of course looking forward to doing so myself when I can)!
@Kiz3000 Don't know if the map with Zapdos is completely gone or not, but for sure there are other maps with different Pokémon in the middle of the map (Rayquaza for example).
This I'm somewhat less surprised they announced before the Presents - anyway, great way to celebrate the 30th anniversary and happy for those playing Unite (including my older sister, looking forward to hearing about them from her)!
Yet another reason for me to get this (I'm keeping an eye on the price of the physical version here in Italy) - looking forward to playing it myself when I can even more than I already was!
Always nice to see soundtracks coming to Nintendo Music in occasion of game (re)releases and even more so in this case considering that the FireRed and LeafGreen OST is great!
Unfortunate that online play isn't supported while the rest is as expected, luckily including Home support for those interested in that - fingers crossed they'll eventually rerelease more mainline Pokémon games at least like this (and also more spin-offs on NSO and speaking of, looking forward to Colosseum and XD whenever they come out)!
If it were available also on Japanese Amazon etc. I'd actually consider it as I have to get at least one of these games in Japanese for my channel (and I can't get them exclusively on the eShop anyway due to its limitations, at the very least I'll have to get an eShop card somewhere on the internet and then use that on the eShop) - anyway, happy for those in Japan going for this although how I wish it came out elsewhere, too!
Makes sense that this year it's exactly on the 27th for the 30th anniversary (other times like last year if I recall correctly it happened on the 26th etc.) - so looking forward to it and even more so now that they've announced FireRed And LeafGreen before the presentation for some reason, can't wait to see what else they have in store!
Hilarious that they got revealed like this, so they are rereleases à la Virtual Console for better or worse, i.e. you can get them à la carte for those who wanted that (which also makes sense to solve all the potential problems like save states etc.) but the prices are pretty high for a single version in a single language - personally, this is exactly why I'm so glad most Nintendo etc. games are on NSO first and foremost instead of exclusively standalone releases like this or Console Archives and I wonder if some will change their opinion on NSO due to this...
That said, I'm happy at least some older mainline Pokémon games are finally coming to Switch regardless and looking forward to seeing whatever else they announce for the anniversary in the upcoming Pokémon Presents!
Glad they fixed all these issues (luckily haven't encountered any of them myself) - absolutely still playing and loving Fantasy Life i, looking forward to the next major update whenever it comes!
Nice to see a Paldea expansion as the next one for Pocket - absolutely looking forward to it (and even more so after seeing some of the cards included, first and foremost Maushold full art which is adorable)!
60fps will be the big one for me considering I'm playing this exclusively in handheld now (unless I start playing it also docked which I doubt I'll see that in person whenever I replay it for my channel) - anyway, thanks for the comparison and fingers crossed the other Xenoblade Chronicles games get Switch 2 Editions, too!
If the datamines are legit then it's only a matter of plans not changing - fingers crossed everything goes well and so Wilds eventually comes also to Switch 2 for those interested in it (not me included as mainline Monster Hunter isn't for me, but still)!
Mowbray is still hired and gave his permission for this, seems like a sensible use to me - personally, I'd rather focus on going against misuses that negatively affect games and even more so their creators (and I refuse to hurt myself the latter by skipping games for such a reason, if I were interested in EA FC in the first place I'd still get it for sure)... Leaving that aside, I also read the original article and couldn't agree more that it's really interesting and worth reading, so much to it beyond this including work on past games like Actua Soccer etc.!
Thanks for the review, not sure if I'll ever play this myself considering what's mentioned here (potentially the horror, but maybe even more so the difficulty of the platforming if it proved more frustrating than satisfying to me) - regardless, glad it's now also on Switch for those interested in it!
Love to see Kiwami 3 debuting on top, 5th and 6th, Mario Tennis Fever in 2nd and both selling that much - especially the former of course even just considering the PS5 version and even more so when combining the sales! Also personally happy to see Dragon Quest VII in 3rd, 4th and 7th, Nioh 3 in 8th (wish it sold more, but being exclusively on PS5 for now certainly doesn't help), Mario Kart World in 9th, New Horizons in 10th and of course Switch 2 still on top of the hardware charts and with such sales!
Have never heard of this before, interesting - glad it's now also on Switch for those who'd like to give it a try (potentially me included despite it technically being a horror game as it seems more tense than anything and so I should be fine)!
Love to hear it and of course being a Switch 2 Edition there's an upgrade for those who already have it (and with the same price as the New Horizons one which makes sense considering the similar features) - getting it immediately and looking forward to it tonight, funnily enough it's exactly the day in which I usually play Xenoblade Chronicles X as part of my gaming schedule... fingers crossed that the other games in this series eventually get Switch 2 Editions, too!
Along with the usual reasons of me liking the Pokémon itself, its appearances no matter if in the games, anime, manga etc., I have to go for one with a Mega considering that's the distinctive feature of gen 6 so in the end I'm choosing Diancie - in addition to all that, I quite like that it's related to Carbink, too!
Even happier that Omega Force got on board then for the sake of the development and so developers of Pokopia for sure and most likely based on what we've seen and heard of it players, too - so looking forward to playing it myself (on my own as part of my gaming schedule, occasionally with my sister and her boyfriend and eventually also for my channel) and before that Nintendo Life's review!
Being a digital-only title as far as I know I would've waited for a discount anyway - that said, still interested in giving this at least a try and see it for myself (even more so considering what those here who have played it mentioned and I second those asking for a review by Nintendo Life if possible)!
Seems like a good choice to me as well (for all the reasons already mentioned by others here starting with her experience and ability) but regardless, happy for her - I really should finally watch the Sonic movies myself sooner rather than later!
Good to hear all these issues have been fixed - happy for those playing New Horizons and looking forward to replaying it myself whenever its time for my channel comes!
Glad that this now got such improvements/fixes, downloading it myself as soon as it becomes available on the European eShop - looking forward to properly playing Stardew Valley when I can even more than I was considering this Switch 2 Edition (most likely at this point I'll wait also for the 1.7 update before doing so)!
Glad someone else here mentioned that how old a game is doesn't matter when it comes to how it runs on newer systems, it depends on how it was made and so its CPU, GPU etc. requirements, the strengths and weaknesses of those systems and so on, that was my main point when this came out - for this very reason now (better late than never even though it should've been available from the start) we got a performance option aiming for 60fps, not while keeping all the visual improvements the Switch 2 upgrade had when it came out and that people mostly if not completely disregarded...
Anyway, thanks for the comparison, based on this I'll most likely go for performance whenever I finally play Skyrim myself!
Unfortunate that the new mode is a limited-time one (not that it particularly interests me personally, but still) while great all stages selectable in the Versus mode on Switch 2 etc. - anyway, looking forward to playing more Sparking Zero when I can!
Most likely I'll just stick to playing GameCube NSO docked (and so in my case using my old controllers with the adapter) but still, nice that there's now such an option for handheld and the other grip looks great, too - so glad these got funded and happy for those going for either!
Definitely interested in the game itself, not sure if I'll play it this way and/or with traditional controls - regardless, glad camera support is finally available also on Switch 2 for those interested in it!
Had to give it some thought, but in the end I'm going for Victini - along with the usual, major reasons of me liking the Pokémon in itself, its appearances in games, anime, manga etc., it's also pretty funny that it's the first Pokémon of the Unova Pokédex (or to be precise #000 and #0494 in the National one so between Arceus and Snivy) despite being a mythical!
Now I see why it's called Dezaemon, it's from デザイン dezain, the Japanese pronunciation of design - even more interested in giving this at least a try at some point then (most likely I'll go for Dezaemon Plus first and foremost though whenever that comes out)!
Thanks for the review, hopefully there will also be guides online to ease people into this game - anyway, hope those going for it will enjoy it (potentially me included, but certainly not anytime soon also considering tha I should give the main Blazblue games a try first and foremost)!
Would've been great if the performance option had been available from the start but still, better late than never - will wait to see the differences between these options in practice (inclined to go for performance based on what has already been mentioned about it here in the comments), but considering this most certainly I'll eventually get the Anniversary Edition and so Switch 2 upgrade myself!
@Lanmanna People are free to do what they want with their own money as long as it's nothing illegal, if there's something you shouldn't do first and foremost is arguing against others about a fundamental principle like that.
That said, you also didn't pay enough attention to what I actually said, I'll get the physical version mentioned in this very article and coming out on 26th June 2026 and I hope that the issues will be fixed by then so I'm far from doing what you're accusing me of - in fact, hadn't it been for the physical coming out way later I would've still waited to see how the situation evolves before getting this (other than of course for the inevitable discount on it being a Ubisoft game)...
Love to see yet another game getting Thai support for those who need or even just interested in it - the fix to that Black Hinox bug is obviously welcome, too (glad at least that is explicitly mentioned unlike whatever else they changed among the other "several issues")!

Re: Video: Skyrim Switch 2 Update 1.2 - Side-By-Side Comparison (Visual Vs Performance Mode)
Re: Bandai Namco Unleashes A New Dragon Ball: Sparking! ZERO Update For Switch And Switch 2
Unfortunate that the new mode is a limited-time one (not that it particularly interests me personally, but still) while great all stages selectable in the Versus mode on Switch 2 etc. - anyway, looking forward to playing more Sparking Zero when I can!
Re: This Switch 2 Grip Might Be The Ultimate Way To Play GameCube Games In Handheld
Most likely I'll just stick to playing GameCube NSO docked (and so in my case using my old controllers with the adapter) but still, nice that there's now such an option for handheld and the other grip looks great, too - so glad these got funded and happy for those going for either!
Re: Heartwarming 2025 Gem 'Goodnight Universe' Finally Gets Switch 2 Camera Support
Definitely interested in the game itself, not sure if I'll play it this way and/or with traditional controls - regardless, glad camera support is finally available also on Switch 2 for those interested in it!
Re: Poll: What's Your Favourite Gen 5 Pokémon?
Had to give it some thought, but in the end I'm going for Victini - along with the usual, major reasons of me liking the Pokémon in itself, its appearances in games, anime, manga etc., it's also pretty funny that it's the first Pokémon of the Unova Pokédex (or to be precise #000 and #0494 in the National one so between Arceus and Snivy) despite being a mythical!
Re: Hamster's Next 'Console Archives' Game Is Coming Later This Week
Now I see why it's called Dezaemon, it's from デザイン dezain, the Japanese pronunciation of design - even more interested in giving this at least a try at some point then (most likely I'll go for Dezaemon Plus first and foremost though whenever that comes out)!
Re: Review: BlazBlue Entropy Effect X (Switch) - A Remarkably Over-Ambitious Roguelike That Goes Deep
Thanks for the review, hopefully there will also be guides online to ease people into this game - anyway, hope those going for it will enjoy it (potentially me included, but certainly not anytime soon also considering tha I should give the main Blazblue games a try first and foremost)!
Re: Bethesda Releases Skyrim Update 1.2 For Switch 2, Includes "60Hz Mode" And Much More
Would've been great if the performance option had been available from the start but still, better late than never - will wait to see the differences between these options in practice (inclined to go for performance based on what has already been mentioned about it here in the comments), but considering this most certainly I'll eventually get the Anniversary Edition and so Switch 2 upgrade myself!
Re: Rayman: 30th Anniversary Edition Is Getting A Physical Switch Release
Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom And Breath Of The Wild Updates Now Live, Here Are The Full Patch Notes
Love to see yet another game getting Thai support for those who need or even just interested in it - the fix to that Black Hinox bug is obviously welcome, too (glad at least that is explicitly mentioned unlike whatever else they changed among the other "several issues")!
