Re: Capcom Spotlight Announced For This Week, Here's A Teaser Trailer

JohnnyMind

Most likely I'll just check out any news about this the next day here on Nintendo Life since I think it's at 11 PM here in Italy (or even watch the presentation but yeah, after) - regardless, looking forward to seeing what announcements they have for their games also on Switch 2... i.e. already so many as Capcom have been on fire when it comes to supporting the console, both in terms of quantity and quality!

Re: Sega Says Sonic Racing And Shinobi Sales Have "Fallen Short" Of Expectations

JohnnyMind

Unfortunate to hear, fingers crossed they'll sell more going forward (in the case of Shinobi the upcoming Switch 2 version should help and speaking of, CrossWorlds not getting one at launch definitely didn't) - have heard overall great things about both games and in the case of CrossWorlds I've already played it myself as well, considering that even more so I'm wishing the best to both!

Re: Kingdom Hearts Collection Switch 2 Local Box Art Reportedly Updated

JohnnyMind

Yeah, not sure why they didn't use the original art (which by the way is apparently an artwork by Nomura-san) when they already had it and even put it on the Japanese cover as already mentioned last time - regardless, getting a physical copy of this as soon as I can... in fact, I've just checked and now Italian Amazon has it so I'm immediately preordering it!

Re: UK Charts: The Adventures Of Elliot Makes An Impressive Debut, But Can't Trouble The Podium

JohnnyMind

Considering the games both above and below close to it I'm glad to see Elliot debut in 6th!
Also personally happy to see First Light on top, Living the Dream in 3rd, Cyberpunk in 4th, Lego Batman in 7th, Pokopia in 8th, World in 10th, Requiem in 11th, Legends Z-A in 13th, The Witcher III back to the charts in 14th and 21st, Bananza still in 16th, New Horizons in 17th, 8 Deluxe in 18th, the Galaxy bundle in 19th, Wonder in 20th etc.!

Re: ICYMI: Nintendo Releases An Awesome Movie-Inspired Star Fox Poster

JohnnyMind

As already mentioned, pretty cool poster - looking forward to the review here on Nintendo Life and then starting the game myself as soon as my copy arrives (despite all the games I'm currently playing I should be able to squeeze it in my schedule)... and fingers crossed the Galaxy Movie first and now the remake will finally bring Star Fox back for good and so we'll get a completely new game after this!

Re: Aardman's Pokémon Series Looks Cracking In New Poster

JohnnyMind

Ha ha Sirfetch'd looking smug while being about to fall off a cliff - this poster looks great and I'm so looking forward to this series whenever it comes out next year (not only Pokémon animations are practically always great, but also it's so cool that they're collaborating with Aardman)!

Re: Feature: In The Zone - Our Favourite Sonic The Hedgehog Levels, Music & Memories

JohnnyMind

Considering the abovementioned I'm not sure which levels I'd say are my favorite, I need to play more of them first while funnily enough when it comes to the music I have the opposite problem - having heard it also outside of the games I have too many possible choices (and even just between the tracks already mentioned by others here I just can't select one or few, they're all so good in their own, distinct ways)!

Re: Feature: In The Zone - Our Favourite Sonic The Hedgehog Levels, Music & Memories

JohnnyMind

I have a weird personal history with the Sonic series because as a kid I had the Gems Collection and Heroes on the GameCube (unfortunately missed the Adventure games and the Mega Collection) and played a lot of those although I haven't finished the game with all the teams in the latter, then I played a lot of the GBA games on emulator and played them a good amount, but didn't finish them since I got distracted by other games and so on - luckily more recently I have fully played games like Superstars (not to mention the Olympic spin-offs) and several games being on Switch 1 and/or 2 means that I have the means to eventually play and finish those... but how I wish Sega brought also older games, as mentioned also in the article it's absurd that the Adventure games are still missing and even more so since they could put those, the GBA ones etc. at least on NSO!

Re: Mailbox: Big-Screen Slippy, First-Party LEs, Wario/Waluigi Fanfic - Nintendo Life Letters

JohnnyMind

Here are my comments about the main letters as usual:

  • couldn't agree more although it's worth keeping in mind that more often than not it's just a loud minority that's complaining (speaking of the Direct, look at the results of the poll here on Nintendo Life compared to the comments, 6,979 votes with 52% voting for great or better and 66% including also the votes for good) - that said again, I do feel for those who personally didn't enjoy this Direct or whatever else, but they lose me as soon as they pretend that it was objectively bad and/or be rude about it which is not the same as constructive criticism;
  • sad to hear about what happened to you, but I'm glad you had Digital Devil Saga to bring you enjoyement throughout it - that's one of the many reasons why I absolutely love videogames (not sure what is the longest it has taken me to finish a game in that sense, I either start and finish them or straight up stop playing them and restart them later);
  • funnily enough Spring is perfect for Kirby also considering Spring Breeze from Super Star - that said, personally I just play games whenever their time for them comes, i.e. as soon as they come out when possible or when there's a free spot in my personal/YouTube gaming schedule (and even as a kid I just played whatever I got from my parents at the time so still related to release dates etc.);
  • yeah, while I can see where game creators are coming from (especially in the case of big games like BotW and TotK) I absolutely prefer it when the postgame is after the ending - for example, as much as I love Paper Mario 64 that's one aspect I 100% prefer in TTYD;
  • again, let's not forget that both Fox's inclusion in the Galaxy movie and even more so remaking Star Fox 64 are most certainly for the sake of getting more interested in the series, if that works then we'll get completely new games etc. - even leaving that aside, if "these things were and are incredibly cool and fun" for you then you already have your answer, jokes aside there's no need to overthink things;
  • yeah, don't see much of a change either as also proven by Fortune's Weave - most Nintendo series simply don't get limited editions while others regularly do (it would be cool if we got more, but at the same time I'm glad I can spend that money to get more games instead);
  • nothing to say about the final letter other than it being pretty funny in more than one sense!

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Sonic The Hedgehog 35th Anniversary Switch Showdown

JohnnyMind

Sonic Origins Plus for me, it shows all the fundamental Sonic characters present in the classic games obviously but also modern ones and also a ring which is a fundamental element of Sonic games (the Mega Drive/Genesis callback mentioned in the article and reversible cover as said here in the comments are really nice bonuses, too) - that said, I would've gone for CrossWorlds had at least Amy if not also Metal Sonic been there as it would've shown all those elements plus some modern characters and background elements!

Re: Opinion: 30 Years On, I've Finally Come Around On The N64 Pad

JohnnyMind

As a kid I had NES, SNES, even a Master System thanks to my older siblings and also played games on PC, but the first home console my parents got also for me was the N64 and I've always loved it and yes, overall including its pad - apart from some confusion at first in the games that use the D-Pad instead of the Analog Stick I immediately felt how good it is in its own way for the games made for it, an obvious example being the Z Button which is at the bottom being used for Mario's actions closest to the ground similar to the default downward digging button placement in Bananza!

Re: Switch Online's June Game Trial Kicks Off With EA Sports FC 26

JohnnyMind

Would be great if eFootball Kick-Off also got a Game Trial so that people had the chance to try that out (even more so considering all the great things I've heard about it, in fact if I ever want to play a football game of this kind again I'm going for that) - that said, hope those taking part in this will have fun!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (20th June)

JohnnyMind

Oops, forgot to remove CrossWorlds, didn't play that last Sunday (actually didn't stream anything due to my home internet being broken, luckily it got fixed on Wednesday in time for the next stream as I was busy on Monday anyway) so ignore it - as usual I'll play it again on stream in occasion of the next Festival!

Re: Dispatch's Free 'HR Violations Pack' DLC Removes Some Censorship On Switch

JohnnyMind

@cedarhyped ... All this time I've been literally pointing out the facts beyond AdHoc's statements that show why this and other games got censored and THEN BASED ON THOSE what AdHoc have said makes sense:

  • several other games got censored if not straight up banned in America and Europe exclusively on Nintendo platforms in recent years and their creators also said that it was due to Nintendo's guidelines;
  • Nintendo themselves in occasion of Dispatch's censorship said that games on its platforms have to get rated by independent organizations and meet their guidelines - the former clearly isn't the issue in the case of all the games that got ratings and came out on other platforms (not to mention even on Nintendo ones in Japan and heck, there are several Corpse Party games for example that used to be released also outside of Japan as you can see even just by searching them here on Nintendo Life) so it has to be the latter.

This is exactly what I meant by not seeing the forest for the trees, people here are so fixated on AdHoc's mistakes of releasing a single build (fixed by this very DLC, notice that it's not available in Japan due to regional censorship requirements so in practice now there's that build and the DLC one), their PR blunders etc. that they're completely disregarding Nintendo's censorship of games in America and Europe in general!

Re: Dispatch's Free 'HR Violations Pack' DLC Removes Some Censorship On Switch

JohnnyMind

@cedarhyped The answer to that question is quoted in this very article: "Approaching launch and running out of time and resources, we were surprised to learn that our game would require some level of censoring in all regions, not just the few we were already planning for. In a difficult spot, we decided to use a single Switch build that complied with Nintendo’s strictest regional rating."
So it went like this according to them:

  • they were planning for censoring in few regions (so most likely two builds like on other platforms, a censored one for Japan etc. and a toggleable one elsewhere);
  • they were surprised to learn that the game would require some level of censoring (due to Nintendo's guidelines and also considering Witcher 3 and Cyberpunk not requiring it);
  • they decided to release only the single censored build which complied to the strictest regional rating because they were approaching launch and running out of time and resources;
  • after working on it and getting Nintendo's approval, they released this DLC which is straight up not available in Japan, still fully censors the game in Korea etc. while in America etc. partially removes the censorship.

And again, even leaving all that aside it's a fact that several other games got censored if not straight up cancelled exclusively on Nintendo systems and Nintendo themselves in response to this specifically said "Nintendo requires all games on its platforms to receive ratings from independent organizations and to meet our established content and platform guidelines" - you're not only disregarding what AdHoc is saying, but also what objectively happened to other games and Nintendo's own words...

Re: Dispatch's Free 'HR Violations Pack' DLC Removes Some Censorship On Switch

JohnnyMind

@squiddu-real Personally, I'm not boycotting Nintendo, but I'll keep on calling them out in the hope that this censorship that negatively affects games and their creators will happen less and less instead of more and more - another recent example is Corpse Party Tetralogy Pack and again, Nintendo themselves said "Nintendo requires all games on its platforms to receive ratings from independent organizations and to meet our established content and platform guidelines" in response to Dispatch's censorship (as for why nobody mentions the specifics, I wouldn't be surprised if there were NDAs involved or something along those lines)...

Re: Dispatch's Free 'HR Violations Pack' DLC Removes Some Censorship On Switch

JohnnyMind

@squiddu-real I've already shared a link of several games cancelled on Switch, but here you are again - games being censored and so people skipping them like in Dispatch's case and even more so when they are straight up are cancelled in America and Europe on Nintendo platforms objectively means less sales (and let's not forget the current situation of the gaming industry, so many studios shutting down and layoffs)...

Re: Dispatch's Free 'HR Violations Pack' DLC Removes Some Censorship On Switch

JohnnyMind

@squiddu-real I've not been denying AdHoc's mistakes at all, it's just that I feel that people aren't seeing the forest for the trees: not only in this specific case, but in general games and their creators are getting harmed by Nintendo's censorship - the latter in particular (not a fan of the former either, but it's secondary in comparison) is exactly why I'm so against it, we're talking about the livelihoods of fellow human beings...

Re: Shinobi: Art Of Vengeance Is Getting A Switch 2 Release This September

JohnnyMind

@ItsTime Yep, as much as I prefer fully physical when feasible to also save storage etc. that's the reason why I'll gladly take even Game-Key Cards over exclusively digital (so also code-in-box)... not to mention the worst of the worst that are games-as-a-service including cloud versions - so glad more and more games that got released exclusively that way on Switch are getting native Switch 2 ports, especially the Kingdom Hearts games for me!

Re: This Blue Prince Physical Collection Might Help You Crack Some Of Its Toughest Puzzles

JohnnyMind

Pretty cool that Blue Prince is getting a physical release and even more so considering those extras, happy for those going for it - most likely not me included since I already have the game digitally and I'd rather not pay even more than the starting price due to shipping costs (speaking of, look at another game that costs $29.99 digitally and $49.99 fully physically so $20 more, most likely the retail version without the "Exclusive O-Sleeve" will still cost at least $10 more although we'll see when that becomes available)!

Re: Nintendo Music Adds Switch 2 Hyrule Warriors Soundtrack In Latest Update

JohnnyMind

@BTB20 If you're mentioning that because I said "don't remember if it has particular enhancements on Switch 2" I was wondering in comparison to playing it on Switch - regardless of why you told me instead of @garfreek that yes, of course that's the case compared to the 3DS version and that's one of the reasons why I said it's "absolutely worth it", thanks for explicitly saying it for those who don't know (about the more content, I surely hope people can figure themselves that it looks much better)!

Re: Shinobi: Art Of Vengeance Is Getting A Switch 2 Release This September

JohnnyMind

Usual reminder that (first I'll mention the straight up facts and then by separating with a - the logical conclusion based on those):

  • people have been complaining about the starting prices of fully physical games, especially Nintendo's, ever since the start of the Switch 2 gen - that certainly didn't encourage companies whose games already cost $60/70 etc. to make them cost more by releasing them fully physically;
  • fully physical games on Switch 2 mostly cost $10/20 etc. more than digitally - of course it's more feasible for games that have a lower starting price to add that without risking not selling enough of their physical copies!

Re: Shinobi: Art Of Vengeance Is Getting A Switch 2 Release This September

JohnnyMind

I'll stick to my Japanese Switch physical copy, but the more options the better (even more so considering that the Switch "physical" release here in Europe is a code-in-box, doesn't even have the benefits Game-Key Card still have and by the way @ItsTime not only that, but also freely sharing it and it not being tied to a single account) - would be great if there were an upgrade but yeah, considering it's by Sega unfortunately that most likely won't be the case...

Re: Nintendo Music Adds Switch 2 Hyrule Warriors Soundtrack In Latest Update

JohnnyMind

@garfreek I'd also say that the game is worth it if you like the lore, not to mention the gameplay being better than ever - I'd recommend going for Age of Imprisonment first since you've never played it, but the Switch version of the original Hyrule Warriors is absolutely worth it as well and even more so considering that you loved the 3DS one (don't remember if it has particular enhancements on Switch 2, but it's a legendary game regardless)!

Re: Nintendo Music Adds Switch 2 Hyrule Warriors Soundtrack In Latest Update

JohnnyMind

Seems like they've been waiting for a year after the Switch 2 launch to really start releasing the full soundtracks of its exclusives, first World and now this (we only got Air Riders before) - anyway, love to see Age of Imprisonment coming to Nintendo Music and even more so since it's an overall great soundtrack as others have already said here!

Re: Japanese Charts: Tomodachi Life Finally Slips From The Top Spot

JohnnyMind

Not surprised to see Tomodachi Life in second when a new Powerful Pro Baseball comes out - as can be seen here that series is quite popular in Japan (as is baseball in general, in fact it's the most popular sport there)!
Anyway, personally happy to see those in 1st and 2nd, eFootball Kick-Off in 3rd, Pokopia in 4th, Astro Bot in 5th, World in 6th, Yoshi in 7th, Rebirth in 8th, Victory Road debuting in 9th - wish it sold more, but of course I guess many got it digitally since it was available only that way until now (funnily enough my copy should be among these since I've preordered it on Japanese Amazon) - and of course Switch 2 still on top of the hardware charts and selling way more than other systems despite the decrease... and by the way, if it more or less sells the same next week it will have sold more than 100k units in a month anyway!

Re: Hands On: Astroneer Turns Co-Op Extraction Adventure, But Is 'Starseeker' Worth Playing In Early Access?

JohnnyMind

I should give the original Astroneer a try first and foremost (and even more so considering that it makes more sense to play that solo), but I'm glad to hear this new game is fun even as is although of course I hope they'll continue to address bugs so that most won't be there whenever it leaves early access - hope others going for it now and/or later will enjoy it, too!

Re: Nintendo Download: 18th June (North America)

JohnnyMind

Waiting for my physical copy of Elliot to arrive, eventually getting Devil May Cry 5 and The Drifter for sure, most likely Wanderstop (and Dark Scrolls, but I voted in the poll before seeing it) as well, maybe also Observer - by the way, the Arcade and even more so Console Archives are always a maybe at some point for me as I need to see/hear more about them first unless I already know them!

Re: Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition Switch 2 Update Adds "TressFX"

JohnnyMind

@HighFlyingBird You might be referring to this update specifically while I was talking about the game in general, here is the Nintendo Life page of the Switch version - also there you can find also the link to the official US page and I quote from that, "The Definitive Edition of the critically acclaimed action-adventure, now available on Nintendo Switch™ & Nintendo Switch™ 2!" (if you aren't talking about this update specifically then you might be confusing this game with the second one of the trilogy shadowdropped at the Direct, Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration as that one is indeed only on Switch 2).
