Re: Guilty Gear Strive Team Provides Update About "Future" Of Nintendo Switch Edition

JR150

Yup glad I didn't buy into the hype and chose to wait instead. The lack of crossplay was bad enough but then the insane delays of the DLC were were even worse. Now it sounds like they're already giving up on it. Kinda wish they had waited for the Switch 2 instead since it runs Street Fighter 6 with both crossplay and rollback well enough. Without that, there's zero reason to buy a fighting game especially on Switch which doesn't tend to have healthy player counts for fighters that aren't Smash.

I'll gladly wait for the inevitable Switch 2 edition of Strive with all the DLC and crossplay included at launch instead thanks.

@nessisonett
A rather mid mobile game does not represent FE's reputation as a whole. Three Houses has mass critical acclaim for its characters and Engage has the same for its gameplay. The announcement of Fortune's Weave was among the most anticipated for many.

This is like saying Mario has a bad reputation because Mario Kart Tour wasn't received well. No. Just no.

I honestly thought it would be impossible to top Mario Kart 8's visuals and while you can still make an argument for that game, Mario Kart World is downright gorgeous and the entire open world is full of neat details. My favorite one is Daisy's Palace near Shy Guy Bazaar.

It also really puts into perspective just how low quality the Booster Course Pass tracks for 8 Deluxe were (looking at you Toad Circuit and pretty much every IRL Tour track). It was clearly a thrown-together DLC pack while World was in development. I really hope Nintendo takes time with DLC tracks for World so the game's quality remains consistent.

Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds New Free Characters Update, Coming Soon

JR150

Tangle and Whisper are more exciting for me than any of the paid season pass characters. This is the first time that comic-book characters have ever been playable in a proper Sonic game on console so this is huge for the future of the series especially if they're included in new mainline games after this. Hats off to Sega for giving the people what they want.

Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Gets Faster On Switch 2 Next Month

December 4th. What's cool is that if you already own the Switch 1 edition, the Switch 2 edition upgrade will be half off until December 10th which means day 1 Switch 2 players will have only paid 65 for this game instead of 70 like other consoles/PC. And on top of that, buying the Switch 2 edition upgrade before December 17th grants us the Werehog DLC pack.

Sega is finally doing right by their players for once. Great moves.

Re: Sonic Team's Boss Wants To Put More Sonic Characters In The Spotlight

JR150

I hope Amy especially gets a big push because Sega has a real problem with not giving their female characters the same spotlight as their male counterparts. Amy has always been the leading lady of the Sonic franchise yet for a while she was characterized only as an obssessive fangirl and only recently does she feel like a decent character. Not only that but other female characters like Cream, Blaze, and Wave don't get nearly as much publicity or care from Sega. That's why I'm glad the IDW comics introduced so many neat new female characters like Tangle, Whisper, Surge, and Lanolin. It needs a better balance.

So I really want Sonic Movie 4 to do well not just to help Amy shine but to also convince Sega that their female characters are just as important. I really hope they let her have a super form in the movie too since Origins and Superstars confirmed she can access it. She should be seen as an equal to Sonic and Shadow--not a sidekick damsel in distress. Plenty of girls love Sonic and should be able to see themselves reflected in this franchise.

Re: Japanese Charts: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Can't Compete With Mario Kart World

JR150

Japan simply doesn't like Sonic. Izuka himself even admitted that he's fully aware that Sonic is more popular outside of Japan than inside. That's why they're adding characters like Hatsune Miku, Joker from Persona 5, and Ichiban from Yakuza to help get Japanese audiences interested.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to have worked. Japan has spoken and Mario (Kart) seems to be the preferred choice. It's a shame because I like Crossworlds and find it on par with MKW but Sonic simply has less appeal. When it comes to animal mascot games, Pokémon pretty much has Sonic beat on that front too.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds

JR150

It's about time. All these years of hit-or-miss games and Sega has finally managed to make a decent Sonic game and fun Kart racer. I've played Riders 1, Zero Gravity, All Stars Racing, and Transformed. The Riders games always felt way better to me while the Sonic kart-racers felt like they were simply copying Mario Kart and lacked any real identity of their own.

But with the CrossWorlds demo, I finally feel the same joy I felt with Riders all those years ago. Between the ring portal system, gadgets, and return of Extreme Gear from Riders, this game actually feels like it stands on its own two feet for the most part (some of the items still feel like clones of MK. Green boxing gloves that bounce off walls while red ones home in on someone? Where have I seen that before...). But things like the Rival dialogue and character interactions make this game feel alive with characters who've never interacted before finally getting the chance such as Jet and Cream or Shadow and Blaze.

I don't just feel like I'm playing Mario Kart with Sonic characters slapped on--it feels like its own unique game and serves as the perfect companion game to Mario Kart World. Between these and Kirby Air Riders, this is probably the best time to be a kart-racing fan.

Granted, it's still very pricey and I don't like the DLC roster being non-Sonic characters with no voices but I can at least ignore those and pay only 60 for this game on Switch instead of the 70 it costs elsewhere.

Re: Reminder: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds 'Open Network Test' For Switch Is Now Live

JR150

Been playing so far and it's decent but the price and content/quality have me concerned.

CrossWorlds is 70 bucks at base and you only get 26 characters at launch and 24 tracks. Compare this to Mario Kart World which is 80 dollars yes but you get 50 characters, 30 tracks, and a fully traversable open world with lots of single player missions and collectibles to find. Even worse, the deluxe edition is 90 dollars and still doesn't offer as much content as MK World.

The gameplay itself is good but a lot of elements feel MK inspired (which isn't a bad thing of course) but I think both games can coexist since they have their pros and cons.

I'm also just not a big fan of the post-launch roster pandering to Nick characters. It's a Sonic game and I want more Sonic characters.
