Yup glad I didn't buy into the hype and chose to wait instead. The lack of crossplay was bad enough but then the insane delays of the DLC were were even worse. Now it sounds like they're already giving up on it. Kinda wish they had waited for the Switch 2 instead since it runs Street Fighter 6 with both crossplay and rollback well enough. Without that, there's zero reason to buy a fighting game especially on Switch which doesn't tend to have healthy player counts for fighters that aren't Smash.
I'll gladly wait for the inevitable Switch 2 edition of Strive with all the DLC and crossplay included at launch instead thanks.
SF6 is crazy. Besides SF4 on 3DS, Virtual Console ports, and the 30th Anniversary Collection this is the first "new" mainline Street Fighter game on a Nintendo console since ALPHA 2 on SNES.
@nessisonett A rather mid mobile game does not represent FE's reputation as a whole. Three Houses has mass critical acclaim for its characters and Engage has the same for its gameplay. The announcement of Fortune's Weave was among the most anticipated for many.
This is like saying Mario has a bad reputation because Mario Kart Tour wasn't received well. No. Just no.
I honestly thought it would be impossible to top Mario Kart 8's visuals and while you can still make an argument for that game, Mario Kart World is downright gorgeous and the entire open world is full of neat details. My favorite one is Daisy's Palace near Shy Guy Bazaar.
It also really puts into perspective just how low quality the Booster Course Pass tracks for 8 Deluxe were (looking at you Toad Circuit and pretty much every IRL Tour track). It was clearly a thrown-together DLC pack while World was in development. I really hope Nintendo takes time with DLC tracks for World so the game's quality remains consistent.
Nothing that really catches my attention honestly. Mega Man finally getting a new game after nearly a decade since 11 is cool though.
Personally just waiting on more Switch 2 exclusives. Fire Emblem Fortune's Weave cannot come fast enough and I'm itching for the next 3D Mario, Xenoblade Chronicles, and hopefully a new Kid Icarus title.
Glad to see Sega learn their lesson. Nobody liked it when they didn't offer a Switch 2 upgrade for Shadow Generations so they clearly learned and walked back on that with this game, even offering us a discount and bonuses for upgrading immediately.
Tangle and Whisper are more exciting for me than any of the paid season pass characters. This is the first time that comic-book characters have ever been playable in a proper Sonic game on console so this is huge for the future of the series especially if they're included in new mainline games after this. Hats off to Sega for giving the people what they want.
December 4th. What's cool is that if you already own the Switch 1 edition, the Switch 2 edition upgrade will be half off until December 10th which means day 1 Switch 2 players will have only paid 65 for this game instead of 70 like other consoles/PC. And on top of that, buying the Switch 2 edition upgrade before December 17th grants us the Werehog DLC pack.
Sega is finally doing right by their players for once. Great moves.
@sketchturner Seriously. Between all of these Tales Of remasters and the Pac-Man World remakes, you'd think Namco would have signed off on Tekken ports/remasters for modern platforms by now especially since we have Soul Calibur 2 on the Switch 2's Gamecube online app as well as Kazuya in Smash. What gives?
I hope Amy especially gets a big push because Sega has a real problem with not giving their female characters the same spotlight as their male counterparts. Amy has always been the leading lady of the Sonic franchise yet for a while she was characterized only as an obssessive fangirl and only recently does she feel like a decent character. Not only that but other female characters like Cream, Blaze, and Wave don't get nearly as much publicity or care from Sega. That's why I'm glad the IDW comics introduced so many neat new female characters like Tangle, Whisper, Surge, and Lanolin. It needs a better balance.
So I really want Sonic Movie 4 to do well not just to help Amy shine but to also convince Sega that their female characters are just as important. I really hope they let her have a super form in the movie too since Origins and Superstars confirmed she can access it. She should be seen as an equal to Sonic and Shadow--not a sidekick damsel in distress. Plenty of girls love Sonic and should be able to see themselves reflected in this franchise.
@Greenspark Colors Ultimate and Superstars weren't received as well as Shadow Generations or Frontiers to my understanding. Sonic as a whole is still inconsistent.
Not interested in Minecraft. Shame they didn't actually dig deep because there's plenty of Sonic characters that could have been great in this game lie Mighty, Honey, Marine, Elise, Sticks, Chip, Zeena, and Infinite.
I want Sonic characters in my Sonic game but that's just me.
While I do want the Olympics to return, I would also prefer a full on RPG. If Mario can make a great one with the Rabbids of all things, I have no doubt a Sonic RPG crossover could be great as well.
I just really want Sage and Bowser Junior to interact and get to know each other in an official piece of media. I feel like they'd be great friends.
I genuinely prefer MKW's roster because it celebrates Mario's cast and eras with a bunch of skins for the major characters and minor enemies from across the series.
SRCW is boring crossover slop that feels like chasing the Fortnite trend instead of celebrating Sonic and I hate it.
Japan simply doesn't like Sonic. Izuka himself even admitted that he's fully aware that Sonic is more popular outside of Japan than inside. That's why they're adding characters like Hatsune Miku, Joker from Persona 5, and Ichiban from Yakuza to help get Japanese audiences interested.
It's about time. All these years of hit-or-miss games and Sega has finally managed to make a decent Sonic game and fun Kart racer. I've played Riders 1, Zero Gravity, All Stars Racing, and Transformed. The Riders games always felt way better to me while the Sonic kart-racers felt like they were simply copying Mario Kart and lacked any real identity of their own.
But with the CrossWorlds demo, I finally feel the same joy I felt with Riders all those years ago. Between the ring portal system, gadgets, and return of Extreme Gear from Riders, this game actually feels like it stands on its own two feet for the most part (some of the items still feel like clones of MK. Green boxing gloves that bounce off walls while red ones home in on someone? Where have I seen that before...). But things like the Rival dialogue and character interactions make this game feel alive with characters who've never interacted before finally getting the chance such as Jet and Cream or Shadow and Blaze.
I don't just feel like I'm playing Mario Kart with Sonic characters slapped on--it feels like its own unique game and serves as the perfect companion game to Mario Kart World. Between these and Kirby Air Riders, this is probably the best time to be a kart-racing fan.
Granted, it's still very pricey and I don't like the DLC roster being non-Sonic characters with no voices but I can at least ignore those and pay only 60 for this game on Switch instead of the 70 it costs elsewhere.
@Roibeard64 It's kinda why Yoshi and Wario are considered separate from Mario characters in Smash. While they are tied to Mario in terms of origin, they pretty much have their own sister franchises now like Donkey Kong Country.
So it seems Nintendo is fully intent on considering Mario Run a mainline "Super Mario" game whether we like it or not.
Thus, Run is actually the first 2D Mario in which Daisy and Yoshi (as a standalone character) are playable. Wonder is the first console game to feature them playable but Run was still first in general.
Been playing so far and it's decent but the price and content/quality have me concerned.
CrossWorlds is 70 bucks at base and you only get 26 characters at launch and 24 tracks. Compare this to Mario Kart World which is 80 dollars yes but you get 50 characters, 30 tracks, and a fully traversable open world with lots of single player missions and collectibles to find. Even worse, the deluxe edition is 90 dollars and still doesn't offer as much content as MK World.
The gameplay itself is good but a lot of elements feel MK inspired (which isn't a bad thing of course) but I think both games can coexist since they have their pros and cons.
I'm also just not a big fan of the post-launch roster pandering to Nick characters. It's a Sonic game and I want more Sonic characters.
Lame excuse. Why even bother? At this point I'd rather they include more actual Sonic characters like Chaos, Tikal, Black Doom, Marine, Sticks, Infinite and even Elise instead.
Expecting us to pay 90 bucks for half of a roster with no voices is ridiculous. And people gave Mario Kart World shade for being 80? At least every character has a voice there. Shame on Sega honestly.
@Oldstalk Ngl I'm not a fan of the roster choices or the price. 90 bucks for a Sonic game for DLC that doesn't even have Sonic characters is disappointing.
I would genuinely take Mephiles, Infinite, and even Elise--yes, that Elise from 06--over all these crossovers I don't care about. I want Sonic characters in my Sonic game.

Re: Opinion: Not Enough People Are Talking About This Early GOTY Contender
It's a very slow game and needs more tactical combat segments but is very good.
@UltimateOtaku91
Agreed but I imagine they probably couldn't afford to do more than Switch and PC for launch. Hopefully it comes to other consoles later.
Re: Monolith Soft Signs Off For The Year, Thanks Fans for Support And Promises To Continue To Work Hard

Fair enough but I'm not taking anything as fact until Nintendo announces it themselves.

I'll believe it when I see it. I don't take leaks seriously.
Re: Monolith Soft Signs Off For The Year, Thanks Fans for Support And Promises To Continue To Work Hard

There is no "fantasy IP". That was just some stock artwork for recruitment for what was likely Xenoblade 3.

Capcom came out swinging and did a great job.

Re: The Game Awards GOTY For 2025 Is Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
Honestly if it wasn't for the lame DLC being full of silent props of characters, Sonic CrossWorlds might have been good.
Mario Kart World isn't perfect but it's leagues better in terms of presentation and polish. Deserved win.
Re: Super Mario Galaxy Movie Gets A New Teaser Trailer At The Game Awards

It has to be intentional. While it is a traditional Muay Thai knee strike, only Falcon has ever done that as far as Nintendo games go.

Re: Katsuhiro Harada Announces Departure From Bandai Namco

Really hoping Nintendo can get him to make a Pokken 2 or even a Soul Calibur game with Fire Emblem characters.

Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Team Open To More DLC: "Tell Us What You Want"
@Samalik
Based Neptunia fan. She and Nepgear are basically Sonic and Tails too when you think about it.
I'd also be happy with Freedom Planet characters since that game was a Sonic fangame at first. Lilac and Carol would look cool here.
Re: Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds Team Open To More DLC: "Tell Us What You Want"
Add more Sonic characters. I don't mind the Sega crossovers but the bland, lifeless DLC from Nick properties is a hard no from me.
I would genuinely prefer Princess Elise from Sonic 06 over any of those Nick characters. I'm here for Sonic characters--not them.

Unfortunately it doesn't seem to have worked. Japan has spoken and Mario (Kart) seems to be the preferred choice. It's a shame because I like Crossworlds and find it on par with MKW but Sonic simply has less appeal. When it comes to animal mascot games, Pokémon pretty much has Sonic beat on that front too.
