It's funny when much less profitable games like Fire Emblem and Persona feature full voice acting. Pokemon makes way more money and should be able to have this.
And for those that say, "Well I don't mind it being silent." Good for you. Then you can just mute the voices if they ever do add them. But that doesn't mean the rest of us should have to play through a JRPG in 2022 in absolute silence.
Don't really care about Nier personally and would honestly prefer the Astral Chain twins myself since it's a Nintendo Switch exclusive. Loved that game and its style with the dual-action combat.
No shade towards the people that like Nier though.
@VideoGameEnjoyer
Never played BOTW so I can't really grasp that comparison. My GOTY for 2017 was Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
But if you say so. I liked how challenging Tokyo Mirage Sessions and SMT V were. But P5 having a lack of challenge is already a bit disappointing for me.
I also hate Joker's guts but that's mainly due to Smash Ultimate making him an annoying punk of a character that I hate playing against lol.
@VideoGameEnjoyer
Really is a shame, but that's just how it goes with updated re-releases nowadays. The original versions are impossible to play without the original hardware.
At some point, I'm still gonna pick up P5 on Switch since it's my sole gaming platform. I just wanna see what all the fuss is about and why everyone loves this game so much. I'm looking to see if it's worth the praise that everyone has been throwing at it ever since I found out about Joker through Smash.
Hopefully it lives up to expectations, but I'm not getting my hopes up too high.
@Jhena It's the polar opposite in every way. Where P5 holds your hand and is easy to breeze through, SMT V kicks you in your shins and spits on you, daring you to get back up.
SMT in general is much more gameplay-driven than its story-driven younger brother Persona. So if you don't like long stretches of pure combat in between minimal cutscenes, this might not be the game for you.
@Slowdive Yeah I'll look into SMT III for sure. Just hoping we can get newer harder games like SMT V in the future. I don't want everything watered down.
@Ralizah Shame that's the only other Atlus JRPG coming to Switch thus far. Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE was stupidly difficult due to your allies being able to be combo'd by Sessions from the enemy so I was prepared for SMT V's difficulty.
I don't have a 3DS unfortunately. I'm mainly picking up Persona 5 to see if it's worth all the hype people give it.
Can't wait for SMT VI. SMT V is one of my favorite games on Switch due to how amazingly heart-pounding its turn-based combat is. Might pick up SMT III in the future too.
Until then, I guess I can give Persona 5 a try on Switch but knowing it's not as challenging is a bit of a letdown.
@Ryu_Niiyama
Pyra and Mythra are considered two separate characters in one DLC pack. Fighter 79 and Fighter 80 respectively.
Female Byleth is an alt skin and they're not doing those. It's also why there's no School Joker, the other 3 Hero's, and no Shirtless Sephiroth or Suited Kazuya Amiibo. These aren't separate characters. They're skins.
Even if they don't make a new console game with them, I hope they put these characters in another Nintendo game such ad Zelda or Fire Emblem to preserve them.
@Vil Xenoblade only has three games on Switch and Fire Emblem only has two--four if you count the Warriors spin-offs.
Meanwhile for Mario alone there's...
Super Mario Odyssey Super Mario Maker 2 Super Mario Party Mario Party Superstars Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Mario Tennis Aces Mario Golf Super Rush New Super Mario Bros U Deluxe Super Mario 3D All Stars Paper Mario: The Origami King
I get it if you don't like Fire Emblem, but please don't act as if there aren't plenty of other games to play on Switch. No one's forcing you to buy FE games.
@KBuckley27 I had given up but now that it's actually coming, I feel drained of what excitement I did have. The fact that it's apparently easier than TMS#FE and SMT V doesn't help either.
@HeadPirate I think the main difference is that Splatoon and Pokemon (especially Pokemon) are multi-million dollar franchises that people expect way more from because they should logically have the money to do more with their games.
Disgaea and Nippon Ichi Software are way smaller by comparison so expecting them to match up to the same standard just isn't going to happen. Disgaea 6 was probably going to be the last Disgaea game but it luckily sold well enough for a 7th game to be made. This franchise doesn't sell millions of copies like those other two do.
I'm honestly glad they did this. Even if they added Ike and Roy, it wouldn't have magically made FEW a great game. It still suffered from a lack of weapon variety (too many sword users and the only non-mounted lance user was DLC) and a general lack of substance. It was just a slew of random FE characters in a boring world with uninteresting protagonists. Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE is a more fun and interesting Fire Emblem spin-off than FEW1 honestly.
Three Hopes is infinitely better than FEW1 because not only is there variety in everyone's moves, but everyone has unique abilities that sets them apart from each other. (I.e. Annette and Hapi are both mages but the former has a unique attack buff ability while the latter can activate explosive magical charges that she can place on the battlefield). Not to mention the story is way better because it takes the great writing of 3H and adapts it into a spin-off title into yet another set of 3 story paths. While I still prefer true tactical FE combat, this game is a perfect distraction to hold us over until he next mainline FE game.
It's not a comment section on a Xenoblade game if people aren't arguing and immaturely attacking each other about "outrageous" design elements in a FANTASY (i.e. not meant to be realistic) game instead of things that actually matter like the gameplay and plot. It's one thing if you don't like it, but insisting on everything/everyone being akin to real life in games that are meant to help escape real life is just ridiculous.🙄
@TheJGG Rest assured, I believe recording is done at anywhere from six months to a year in advance, so at the very least, we'll be able to enjoy his final performance as Ferdinand in this game.
@UltimateOtaku91 Just surpassed 9 million total downloads too. Sure that's not indicative of concurrent players, but loads and loads of people are trying it out constantly.
Lame. I'd rather unlock everything myself through challenge. Unlocking Junior, Diddy, and Petey in Charged was super fun because of how hard it was to beat them and satisfying to unlock them afterwards.
@Patendo
It has nothing to do with Smash. So far, the game appears to have less characters than Strikers Charged. A Wii game from 15 years ago.
Not only is Daisy missing, but so is Bowser Jr, Diddy Kong, and Petey Piranha. As well as sidekick mob characters like Koopa Troopas, Shy Guys, and Boos. In fact, the only new character to the series is Rosalina. One new character.
I'm not saying the game will be terrible, I'm merely calling it like I see it. The game's character selection is a step down from the previous game in the series from what we've seen so far. Unless there's unlockable characters, then it's going to be worse. We shouldn't have to wait for months to play as our favorite characters.
I really hope they don't add her in an update months later. There's no conceivable reason why we should have to wait extra time to play as our favorite characters. So I hope she's just unlockable in game.
@Clyde_Radcliffe
No? She acts nothing like Peach and has a completely different personality--she's loud, crass, and in your face. If anything, Rosalina is just Peach in a blue dress because those two act practically the same--calm, quiet, and reserved. Whether you like Daisy or not, she's a Mario spin-off regular and removing her would be like removing Amy from a Sonic game. If Waluigi was missing, the internet would have a collective meltdown just like when he was missing from Mario Kart 7 and Smash Ultimate. The double standards are ridiculous. Everyone should be able to play as their favorite characters. Period.
Nope. Don't care anymore. When they put Joker in Smash I thought Persona ports would happen, when they put P5 Strikers on Switch, I thought it would happen because it's literally a direct continuation of P5's story, and when they put out surveys last year and the year before, I thought it would happen.
Instead, we get P4 Arena which is another direct sequel to a game that isn't available on Switch (P4).
With the Switch being the only system I have, I've simply lost all interest in Persona and I haven't even played it. They've done a poor job of getting Switch owners invested in the series, and there's too many other games coming out that have my interest (Mario Strikers Battle League, FE Warriors Three Hopes, Xenoblade 3, and possibly Splatoon 3 as well), so I simply don't have time to worry about games like Persona and whether or not they'll come to Switch. I loved SMT V, but this is just tiring at this point.
@smithpa01 The reason why it got delayed was so that the devs could release it when they turn on crossplay between Switch/Xbox/PS4/PC. If anything, it's only gonna get more players once it finally hits Switch.

As a person who spent 700+ hours in Splatoon 2 (but eventually got bored of it), this is nice to know since the Tri-Slosher was my favorite. But so far, I'm not really all that excited yet since what we've been shown so far is more of the same. Here's hoping they show off some new modes and gameplay mechanics soon.
@Snatcher @VoidofLight

@Arkay
>"This game wasn't serious enough"
>"I didn't play past the first few hours"
That's the problem. You didn't play past the first few hours and are judging the entire game based on that alone. I recommend at least watching the cutscenes on Youtube because XC2 gets very dark--darker than XC1 at some points as the story goes on. You can't judge the whole story off of the opening alone.
As I said, Nia and Jin have really dark and troubled backgrounds but you wouldn't know that since you didn't play past a certain point. The game is plenty serious.
@Arkay 2 had loads of death, betrayal, and the consumption of human organs. Jin's backstory was really tragic as was Nia's. That wasn't serious enough for you?
@Airzeh
Heck, even racing through the Sahara or somewhere like the pyramids in Egypt would be great. Given the amount of desert courses in the series, I'm kind of shocked they don't have a Cairo map that takes us through the city and into the pyramids right next to it.
Though to be fair, aren't Asian people considered "POC"? (Which are the primary people who work at Nintendo--a Japanese company.)
@Tao
I like the mechanic because you have to prioritize what characters like to eat, leading to a wide variety of food choices you'll be picking from since every character has their own likes and dislikes. The dialogue when they sit down to eat often helps add to their characterization especially if you put together two characters with special dialogue.

The dialogue when they sit down to eat often helps add to their characterization especially if you put together two characters with special dialogue.
So yes. It's more than just pressing two buttons.
