Seems like for now the NS2 games from third-parties look and play great. So that's awesome news.

It feels like Tomba has been talked about for ages, for some reason.

Japan is Switch 2 land. Legends ZA is more fun, gameplay-wise, than Scarlet. And I actually liked Scarlet a lot.

@Wakkawipeout I mean more from a narrative standpoint than software (early NS2 blows early 3DS out of the water, there). 3DS sales dropped considerably faster than NS2 but partly because the discourse surrounding the console was bad. I wasn't quite clear on that in my initial post. And, as I also noted, NS2 did sell quite well in the holiday still even based on this report that is admittedly faulty.

@Metazoxan I agree. I recently have been playing off and on for the post-game content and keep forgetting how fun the game is. It's excellent!

@breach187 it is, but this time around there actually are good games soon after launch. It's more on the narrative side where there are similarities, to be more specific.

Dring's report suggests Switch 2 sold 1.1M in the US alone in December and we're comparing Nov-Dec 2017 to Nov-Dec 2025 so to say they were "slow" (with no headline context) is an interesting take. This is especially interesting because sales have increased month over month in the last few months. And, as others said, Dring admits he doesn't really have the data. While I'm sure sales were not as good as Nintendo would hope for the console in this specific moment, I feel like some analysts are jumping the gun on this news.

In any case, Nintendo needs to figure out how to improve the general narrative of the console. It's feeling like early 3DS (as I predicted would happen). It's selling well, but enthusiasts are outraged about it and that is starting to catch up with them. Of course...at that time there wasn't a looming price INCREASE on consoles. And, tbf, Switch 2 has much more going for it in terms of software but it's relying on third-parties to sell it (like 3DS). But NS2 still has more first-party software than 3DS did.

So yeah, 2026 Nintendo has a lot to do to fix the situation with the general online negativity surrounding what I feel is an awesome system. I'm happy with the console and its library, fwiw. There is a lot to love about it.

I have a feeling they are doing this to maintain fewer SKUs. Nintendo is trying to save money in the most random ways right now, so of course this will be wonky.

The colors are pretty decent, but nothing to write home about with the design.

I hope both happen and make it to the NS2 because that would be my ideal way of playing them.

Also hoping Oblivion makes its way there. With Skyrim coming randomly to NS2 in December, it seems possible.

I doubt Capcom would have put something out they felt wasn't good for what it is. Sure, it won't look nearly as good as it would on my Series X but I also can't take my Series X anywhere. Well, not easily, anyway...

@metaphysician true, Capcom does a decent amount of demos but of the third-parties that actually supports Nintendo they are among the best.

I'm going to take a shot every time NL inserts something is on GKC even when the information is not relevant to the article.

Gotta hand it to SE, they are generous with their demos.

I got the last key and I have appreciated the appearance of the federation troopers a lot. Part of me has wanted that since Echoes, so their inclusion is more a realization of that than anything else. Myles has been decent. The hate is unwarranted, imo.

TPC/GF are really into anniversaries, contrary to Nintendo, so I can believe we will hear about the next gen ("gen 10") Pokémon game.

RE9 and DQ VII, along with ACNH NS2 edition are some of the games I'm looking forward to this month.

I don't think anyone will quite match Reggie, but I'd love to be proven wrong.

Pikmin could benefit a lot from mouse controls, so a NS2 version could be interesting.

Tbh, I haven't beaten 2-4 so getting NS2 upgrades would entice me to buy them all (again, in the case of 2 and 3). I had a good time with 2 but got to the part where the game makes you think it's over then you find out it isn't. That was sort of deflating to me, at the time. 3 was great, but I just never got around to beating it on Wii U. As for 4, I haven't bought it yet...

I know the opinion is unpopular on Xbox sites, but exclusives sell consoles. Without them, they become a lot less interesting.

Switch 2 has gotten great support from Capcom and SE so let's hope they give us some new games and upgrades of NS1 games in addition to the remakes.

I got it, but I have only played a few minutes of it.

Pokémon is usually a best seller, but taking second place with only a few months to chart is crazy work.

Playing the FF VII remake demo made me feel a little better about turning away from the older formula and into action. FF XV was fine, but something about VII Remake just seems better.

In terms of variety, Switch 2 is up there. Switch ekes ahead with BotW. Wii was also great, but I'd still put NS2 a hair above that. Wii U is also better than most remember.

Metroid Prime 4, some Forza Horizon 4 (I didn't buy any new Xbox games) and Pokémon Legends ZA.

I also bought Hogwarts Legacy (did the upgrade trick and yes, while I don't like Ms. Rowling, she apparently got nothing for HL) and Mega Man 11.

Edit: misspoke, I bought Titanfall 2 on Xbox! That counts. Lol

I'd say they are suggesting a new game will be announced soon, but that can't be what this is about. They post EOY social media messages every year.

I will refrain from feeling anything until this is officially announced, but what an interesting lead up...

Decent numbers, Switch 2 has been selling software at a healthy rate, by the looks of it. And that's really where Nintendo makes its money.

I need way too many NS1 games and while Air Riders was fun, I plan on buying that some time next year along with some of the NS1 games I still haven't bought. Depending on the reviews, I will get the new Mario Tennis at launch.

Those are decent numbers for the series, I'm sure SE is happy with them because they aren't huge budget games.

Having said that, a Switch 2 update for the first two games would be splendiferous.

GameStop confirmed it via social media. Nintendo already told us this would happen, anyway.

But yes, I bought two of these bundles. One for me and the other for my wife.

Donkey Kong Bananza is my current NS2 GOTY, even though I had a fun time with Legends ZA, it's not a more enjoyable experience than DKB for me.

MKW won't win GOTY because it's a racing game but I love it. For Switch 1, it's gotta be XCX:DE. What an upgrade from the already awesome original.

@metaphysician of course Nintendo doesn't manufacture anything, but I just meant maybe now that manufacturer thinks it's worth selling smaller carts (larger is admittedly less likely). Obviously there is speculation on my part, here.

Idc if it's 30 FPS, that demo was incredible handheld and docked.

Tbh, GKC seem like a temporary solution until Nintendo can work out bigger (or smaller, as was the case until now) cartridge sizes.

I had a good time with Starfield. Not enough to double dip, I rarely do that anymore, but I'd recommend it.

Well, seems like Japanese gamers can't get enough of Switch 2. I was told everyone was done with the console!

I don't own a single 3rd party game that was built for Switch 2 ( my wife won't let me buy many games) but where the heck is Tony Hawk 3+4 HD? I thought people generally liked the NS2 version.

Either way, I need to play Cyberpunk 2077. Everyone raves about it.

I haven't bought the first game, but plan on it as the NS2 version is apparently solid.

Cool, based on an interview he did with Bobby Lee it feels like he will basically never think the game is complete. Still, the NS2 update will be nice and I can get back into the game after pausing my farm.

I may be imagining things, but the NS2 version seems to play a little smoother than the NS1 version and looks slightly nicer.

Macroeconomic conditions are generally bad in the US. We'll see a rebound whenever the economy ever actually recovers.

And of course, there is the elephant in the room that NS1 and NS2 combined were about 10% below NS1 for November last year and NS2 sold less than NS1's first November. There are a few reasons for this (including bundle prices, overall price of the console, etc), but let's not ignore that Switch 2 sold less than its predecessor a year ago.

I don't want to jump to any conclusions with literally 1 month of data suggesting the numbers aren't as good as they could be but we could be looking at a 3DS situation. And of course, sales were up month over month. It's hard to say anything without hindsight because this is the first month since it launched that Switch 2 didn't sell the best in the US. NS1 was not in the lead for one month in its first year due to stock. Switch 2 is more because a competitor (who swears that they aren't competing but acts like they do) lowered the price of its console by a considerable amount of money for part of the month. We know how 3DS turned out in the long run, so...meh.

Already downloaded. I'll give it a shot probably this weekend when I have time, but footage of this port is promising.

I don't think I got the "best" ending for the original, so a Switch 2 update may be enough for me to replay it.

Perhaps BG3 on Switch 2 is possible, then
