Re: Poll: What Did You Think Of The Nintendo Direct, Then?

FoxyDude

The Direct was pretty heavy in remakes/remasters, which I don't see as a bad thing. It likely means they're putting their efforts into other new stuff down the line, so potentially new software for whatever the new hardware is. My guess is we'll start hearing some official news about what's next for Nintendo hardware sometime next year.

In the meantime, I'm gonna enjoy reliving some of my favorite games made again on the Switch. I'm so hype for both Super Mario RPG and Paper Mario!

Re: Mario Vs. Donkey Kong Brings Some Platform Puzzling To Switch Next February

FoxyDude

Typically when you're getting more remakes than new games on a console, it means its getting towards the end of the life cycle for that system. Makes sense, easier to remake old stuff and put it on Switch and focus your efforts for new software on the new platform coming later.

I'm still gonna enjoy these remakes while I wait for whatever next system Nintendo has in waiting

Re: Round Up: The First Impressions Of Pokémon Scarlet & Violet - The Teal Mask Are In

FoxyDude

I'm still working my way through the DLC (got distracted trying to shiny hunt for a Vulpix) and overall I'm enjoying it but the continued framerate issues make it hard to recommend to anyone else.

To further clarify, I don't mind about the model issues or pop-in. What really makes the DLC a slog (literally) are the constant framerate issues. Just moving around the open grassy fields is enough to make the game chug to a snails pace.

Re: Paldean Pokémon Will Start Appearing In Pokémon GO Next Week

FoxyDude

Can we talk about how lazy that trailer is? They just took walk animations for the Pokémon and superimposed them over low-quality images of real-life settings. I know Pokémon is getting lazy with their games but it's funny to see them be lazy with their advertisements too.
(before you correct me, yes I'm aware the trailer is moreso from Niantic than TPCI)

Re: Super Mario Bros. Wonder Nintendo Direct Announced For August 31st

FoxyDude

I wonder if this single-game focused Direct means we won't be getting a General Direct next month. Also curious as to why they feel the need for a whole direct for this game. Don't get me wrong, I'm excited for the game already and felt the initial trailer was enough to get me into it. I had expected a new trailer for it with a general Direct, but not an entire Direct just for Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

Re: Charles Martinet Will No Longer Be The Voice Of Mario

FoxyDude

I was a little worried at first thinking it might have been an announcement that he had passed. While I'm relieved to hear he's ok, this is definitely the end of an era.

It will be interesting to see who else takes the reign for so many of his iconic voices

Re: Poll: What Do You Think Of Raging Bolt In Pokémon Scarlet & Violet?

FoxyDude

Iron Crown is literally just Cobalion but metal (which is an improvement from the base design IMO). I like that they went with something different for Raging Bolt, kind of like how they did with Walking Wake. At least with Raging Bolt that mane is reminiscent of storm clouds so I think it works. People just jump to assume anything with a long neck is a giraffe and get mad for some reason.

Re: Pokémon Presents August 2023: Every Announcement, Full Livestream

FoxyDude

I went in with tempered expectations and I'm glad I did because outside of the NSO games and the DLC, this was a pretty underwhelming presentation.

This absolutely didn't need to be 35 minutes long. They could have easily condensed it down to like 20 minutes and still got all of the information out without all the padding.
