Great timing! The Switch version is currently 50% off in the US, which makes the upcoming Switch 2 upgrade even more enticing.
Somehow, I ended up getting a free digital copy of RDR2 on the Xbox, but never played it because I didn't play the first one. The stars seem to be aligning to finally get the first one, and knock the 2nd one out of my backlog.
I finally beat Star Wars Outlaws during the week! I still have a ton of side content to explore, but after pouring in 60-70 hours into it, I feel like I can break from it for now. I really enjoyed this on the Switch 2, which means I'm in the market for a new Switch 2 game! Trying to wait for the holiday season to see if Cyberpunk goes on sale, or any other games I have on my wishlist.
In the meantime, I started Paper Mario TTYD, wish I never played previously. Actually, its my first Paper Mario game. Ive been enjoying it so far, and could be primer for my eventual playthrough of Xenoblade Chronicles X.
No ROG Ally X games at the moment that have hooked me. Played a little bit of Kingdom Hearts, but there seems to be some game issues specific to the ROG, so I bounced off of that, and I played a little Quantum Break, which I enjoyed a bit more, but I didn't feel in the mood for a game like that right now.
I hope they continue with this series. Its a trilogy after all! The demo convinced me its worth a playthrough, even though I beat the classic version on PC.
Wow, what a great time to be a Nintendo fan. Im dating myself a little bit, but I submitted an envelope to Nintendo as well... a Chrono Trigger themed one with Frog. It might have even been around the time you were there!
I remember the sword from the art piece wouldnt fit on the actual front of the envelope, so my piece continued onto the envelope flap to seal.
I probably wouldn't have remembered any of this without the article. Cheers!
I want to get into Hyrule Warriors, I just wish the prior games cost a little less so that I can determine whether id like it or not. Im definitely in for Metroid Prime 4 though!
I may be in for Assassins Creed Shadows too if the port runs well enough. Reviews will have influence over my decision for sure.
Let's see... 40+ hours in on Star Wars Outlaws on Switch 2 and still going strong. The number of side missions I've unlocked and haven't completed yet is probably close to 50, so this weekend might be a good time to chip away at those.
I finished Outer Worlds on the ROG Ally X during the week, and now I'm playing Mafia - Definitive Edition. A lot of PC games are gifted between Amazon Prime and Epic Games Store, and this was one of them (along with 2 and 3).
I have mixed feelings about this. Happy for the updates, dont get me wrong here, but not bumping the fps to 60 feels a little out of touch to me, but the general audience wont likely be bothered by it. On the other hand, it could be why the Switch 2 upgrade doesn't cost the same as others.
If they try to release a second fps upgrade, I think people will riot. 😂
Watched this during today's Xbox Indie showcase and they ended the show with a fairly awesome deep dive. Definitely looks like something ill be into when it releases. 😁
I dont know if im being pessimistic, but I just dont see a new 3D Mario game coming for several more years, unless a new internal development team is working on it.
They've got the Mario Galaxy movie coming, and they just released the Galaxy games, and im sure for the 40th anniversary celebrations, we'll get plenty of Switch 2 editions of their other games.
I really hope im wrong though. Nintendo is very hard to predict, and my logic based theories tend not to stick with them, haha.
Working two jobs this week didn't leave much time to progress in the games I was playing last weekend, so it's still Star Wars Outlaws on the Switch 2 and Outer Worlds on the ROG Ally X. I'm really enjoying both games. At this point, I think I've reached 30 hours in Outlaws and about 25 in Outer Worlds.
Since Ubisoft released a new patch for Outlaws earlier this week, I have not experienced any game crashes
What a nice surprise. If its a well put together version on the Switch 2, id highly consider purchasing it. Amazon Prime just gave away the PC versions of Fallout 3 and New Vegas for free too.
Im sure if I show the second direct to my 5 year old, she's going to want it for Xmas. She already asked for 'all Pokemon games' and 'Kirby' (referring to Forgotten Land).
I have to admit, the game seems very feature rich, chaotic, and fun to play. Its still not for me, but I can definitely see its appeal!
I was a little disappointed in the variety of DX pack that I went back to older sets to try my luck. Now that I have all the diamond cards across all expansions minus DX, im ready for the next one!
@roy130390 - My thoughts exactly. Im trying to be cautiously optimistic, but an official announcement this close to release always gives me bad vibes. I immediately assume they are hiding something.
Thankfully, the trailer above does seem to function about as good as Outlaws does on the Switch 2, which is promising.
I really hope Ubisoft goes back and gives us the other Assassin Creed games, like Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla too.
Probably for the best. Games of this status shouldn't be rushed to simply have it on the Switch 2. It seems to be a very capable system if Cyberpunk and Star Wars Outlaws can run quite well on it.
As much as ive been enjoying Star Wars Outlaws, it has crashed four times on me so far, all while transitioning from one area to another, either via fast travel or on foot. Thankfully, auto saves have kept lost progress non existent.
Hopefully the stability updates address this. Still a fantastic game regardless.
How can there be another 60 minutes of content after the previous Direct on this?! What will be left for us to discover for ourselves when it comes out?
I probably won't be getting this, but ill still watch the Direct.
I was completely on board to get this for the Switch 2 after sinking a few hours into the demo, but then I also played it on the ROG Ally X, which plays at 60 fps, is Xbox Play Anywhere compatible, and was just recently on sale for $27.99. Pretty easy decision on this game.
In contrast, Star Wars Outlaws played like garbage on the ROG Ally X, but plays rather nicely on the Switch 2 after 18 hours in it.
I'll largely be too busy for any meaningful game time this weekend, but I picked up Star Wars Outlaws on the Switch 2 and I am amazed at how well it looks and plays. I put in about 10 hours so far. Just an overall rock solid performing play.
Also still making my way through Outer Worlds on the ROG Ally X.
I have both the Switch 2 and the ROG Ally X. As a largely handheld gamer, I like the idea of having two machines on the go that basically can play every game on the market between them.
At its price, I dont think it has mass market appeal though. Only time will tell how things play out.
Im a little all over the map this weekend. Resumed a playthrough of Planet of Lana and started one on Outer Worlds on the ROG Ally X, while DK Bananza is still being slowly worked through on the Switch 2.
Been itching to pick up Galaxy 1 & 2 + Star Wars Outlaws this weekend too. Yeah, SW Outlaws is a Game Key Card, but i anticipate selling it after im done, and I can't do that with a digital copy.
I finished up GTA San Andreas last night on the ROG Ally X, which means I have successfully completed all three games of the Definitive Edition. I'm working my way up through the series leading up to GTA 6, so I'll probably start IV in a week or so.
My time with Donkey Kong Bananza is also coming to a close, and I'm hoping this weekend is the one where I roll credits. While I have been enjoying it a lot, I am also looking forward to playing something else.
I've been also dabbling in the Persona 3 Reload demo on Switch 2. I've played it both on handheld and docked, and whatever performance issues that are people are complaining about seem unwarranted, at least in my opinion. I guess if I really focus on it, I guess the framerate might stutter a little, but no where near enough to call it a shoddy port in my eyes.
As for what's next... my backlog is quite large, so I'll have to look through the library and see what could be a good fit.
I learned about 'performance issues' and the demo of this game at roughly the same time. Seeing that issues have been somewhat exaggerated for other titles, I downloaded to try it myself.
Perhaps it is because im playing it handheld or im not far enough into it, but I just dont see the issue that people are complaining about there.
Maybe people enjoy complaining on the internet more than just trying to disconnect from life and play video games?
@Dang_69 - Thanks for the feedback on the games! Im definitely not in the market for Lexar cards, it was more a heads up that 1 TB cards are nearly available. I had a bad experience with them during my wildlife photography days where I lost several hundred quality shots when the card corrupted. Never again, haha.
The 512 GB card was SanDisk, as is all my other various memory cards.
@Nintendo4Sonic - The 512 GB ones, yes. Popped into a Best Buy (I live in the US), and when I couldn't find them anywhere, I asked and they had them in the back.
I dont know about availability of 1 TB express cards yet, but I know at least one store in New York City has an 'end of October' timeline for Lexar ones.
I am absolutely getting a copy of this... especially now that I got a 512 GB SD Express card. I just dont know if its my next purchase... im torn on this, Guardians of Azuma, Fantasy Life I & Cyberpunk.
I have interest in a few of these... Galaxy 2, Pokémon ZA & DQ1&2. Im playing the Persona 3 Switch 2 demo (handheld) and ive been enjoying it so far, despite never clicking with the series. Who knows, maybe this will finally be the time!
Playing the original only a year ago, I figured I wouldn't need/want to play it again. I messed around with the demo though and thought it might be worth playing again this way. It felt like it was done very well.
And yes... the story can reeeeeeallly drag at times.
Im trying to finish a bunch of games I've started so that I can get a new batch of games into my rotation. The games include Bananza, GTA San Andreas & Expedition 33.
I might take a look at the shops this weekend to finally get a MicroSD Express card too so that I can expand my Switch 2 library.

Had a good time with the demo, but the combination of performance and price has this comfortably sitting in my watchlist. If they can improve it through updates and it gets a decent price drop, im in.
I just rewatched the movie with my daughter (see asked to watch it again) and the joy that it brings her makes me so happy. Sure, its not the best movie... but its not for me, its for the next generation of fans and she loves it.
@Suketoudara - Whatever the default setting was. I was never good at these types of games, but I've been broadening my gaming a little bit. It never occurred to me to try and change the difficulty, haha.
I just remember how jarring it was when I got to the first legit boss and got smoked multiple times, haha. The game never really explained the mechanics very well, and I ended mashing buttons a little too much, which only makes things worse. By about halfway through the game and a few crucial upgrades, I finally found a good cadence to finish it. There were still a few frustrating bosses throughout, but the overall experience made want to continue the series... I just need some time between them. 🤣
If the game runs at 60 fps and has great combat (sounds like it for the Switch 2), I'm definitely interested regardless of the opinions on the visuals.
I played the first Kiwami game on another platform earlier in the year. I mostly enjoyed it, but my goodness, some of the boss fights were frustratingly annoying. Usually, that alone is enough for me to quickly drop a title, but I was enjoying it enough where I wanted to see the story through. That has made me hesitate in getting kiwami 2 because I definitely dont want to be that frustrated again (particularly now where life has been unforgiving as of late).
In the end, im happy that the series is finally on Nintendo consoles. This is a great series overall.
@Willo567 - Nice to see you proving my point, I appreciate it. I reiterate... a December release date, a time when most big releases dont occur, has me concerned. Of course there are exceptions as you pointed out, but thats far from the norm.
To be honest, the latest video did give me pause largely because it wasn't what I expected to see. I dont know if that'll be a good or bad thing, but i am concerned. Coupled with a December release date, a time when most big releases dont occur... yeah, definitely concerned.
I mean, thats how the original game ended too. I won't go into the details, but the original game was part of a trilogy, so I would expect the remakes to follow that.
Between what i like and what I know my daughter likes, there are easily a dozen titles I'd be happy with getting. Probably none on day one,but that's mostly because the holidays are a whirlwind with no free time as a parent, haha.
