Seems like a fairly fun romp! I’ll have to wishlist it for now. Perhaps if it had more combatants in it I’d be quicker to jump on a purchase. Maybe DLC in the future with additional fights?
I cashed in a ton of Microsoft rewards points to buy eShop credit. With current sales and interests, I picked up Sea of Stars, Chained Echoes, Lost in Random, Carrion & the Bioshock Trilogy. A nice selection of RPGs and adventure types for an upcoming vacation. I’m still chipping my way through Lego Star Wars, which seems to be the title I needed to recover from ‘100 hr RPG/adventure’ burnout. A nice no-pressure collectathon. 🙂
I feel like I grew out of 2D Mario games a long time ago, but I am genuinely intrigued with the look, variety, and replayability of Wonder. Well done, Nintendo. Might need to pick this up.
Really hope this runs decently. I played through the first one on Switch and that ran just fine, but didn’t play 2. I started a playthrough of 3 on Xbox but could never put the time in to progress. Maybe the switch version can change that.
I’m sort of in a weird place where nothing is holding my attention. I’ve dropped playing TotK, Crosscode, and now Lego Star Wars. Maybe I need to find something short and cozy to build myself back up. I was think a Short Hike might be the place to look first.
Looks right up my alley. I like the grittier and over the top art style. I hope there’s a decent # of unique opponents included. The ones included in the video seem to suggest it. Lots of promise, so to the wishlist to keep an eye on how it reviews.
If they were able to get RDR running this well on the Switch, I have higher hopes (with the right developer) that GTA IV could also run quite well too. Given the install base of the Switch, it seems more of when than if it happens.
I just wish the DLC was not part of the package to reduce the base price. There’s a good chance I’ll only play through the story (never played it & don’t care for multiplayer), so it’ll have to wait until a sale.
Despite the higher than expected price and the lack of multiplayer, I really want this to run well. I will absolutely pick it up if it does… when it goes on sale around the holidays. 😋
Doesn’t look too bad by comparison, but reviews will help clarify if this is another cash grab like GTA Trilogy. I pray it’s a solid port though, success will only lead to more games on Nintendo consoles. 🙂
I never got around to playing through RDR, so I’m definitely interested in getting it for Switch. I’ll probably wait for the inevitable holiday sale, but the review is key here. Rockstar showed incredibly bad judgement by allowing GTA Trilogy to be released in the state it was, and I’ll never trust them again because of it.
Is it just me, or does it worry anyone else that a game as big as RDR is being dropped in a weeks time? Sure, you could argue Metroid Prime was shadow dropped and that was amazing, but after the disaster that was the GTA trilogy, I’d definitely wait for reviews before blindly buying.
Have to take a break from my mindless wandering in TotK, haha. A while back I picked up Dying Light on switch for $7.50 during an e-shop sale, so I started that last night. Really digging it!
I’m not opposed to this version of Zelda going forward, especially since there’s so much to do. I’ve never played a Zelda game as long as I did with BotW, so I feel like I get my moneys worth. I doubt we’ll get a third game on the Switch, but it’s not unreasonable to see some meaty DLC of puzzles/trials/side quests in the future. Even if the Switch successor is this version of Zelda with better graphics, draw distance, etc, I’m here for it.
Barely scratched the surface of TotK, so I’ll continue chipping away at that. Since it’s released, life has been so crazy that by the time I get to play at the end of the day, I’m nodding off from exhaustion. Perhaps the 3 day weekend will grant me more time.
I finished Fenyx Immortal Rising a day before TotK arrived but was only able to play for about an hour. I was just too tired to stay up super late. Will be doing a lot of traveling this weekend, so it may be a while before I can really dive in.
Waiting for it to be delivered today (it better get here soon)! I’ll probably just pick a direction and just explore. Same approach w/ BotW. No real sense of urgency to beat it, I just want maximum enjoyment out of it.
Can we all agree that a new console is an inevitability, and Nintendo will announce it when it’s ready? Maybe I’m alone in this opinion, but I’m thoroughly enjoying the Switch and the content that is coming out. The only thing I want out of a new console is the ability to play and keep playing my physical/digital purchases from the Switch era should I dip into next-Gen.
I’ve been enjoying Immortals Fenyx Rising for the last week, which has been scratching that BotW itch I picked up since the TotK trailer. Only a few more weeks until TotK is here!
FF VI was my first (in NA it was labeled FFIII at the time). We had a Japanese friend when we were younger who had a Japanese version of the game, and while I didn’t understand a lick of it, it looked mighty impressive. I eventually remember finding it at the local Sears when they sold video games for $69.99 and picked it up. I’ve played through it multiple times since.
I didn’t see it on this list so it might be part of another sale, but CrossCode was $11.99 on the NA shop too. I’ve had that in my wishlist for what felt like ages.
@iBashar141 - Came here to ask the same thing. I wanted to get this originally, but the initial Switch reviews made me hesitate. Are the performance issues noticeable enough to take away from the essence of the game?
Never played the original, but based off what I saw from todays trailer of the sequel and remaster, it seems right up my alley. To the wishlist… where it will likely reside until next year with my current backlog of purchased titles. 😋
The official website made reference to ‘dank caves’, so it seems like the sky islands aren’t the only new areas. I wonder just how much underground exploration there is. One month until we find out!
I can’t wait. I’ll probably pre-order this game this week. I think the last time I pre-ordered anything was… the Wii console? The hype I have for this can’t be put into words.
When I finally pick this back up on the Switch (put in over 100 hours initially, all handheld), it sounds like there’s enough content to keep me busy for dozens more hours. I love it. Hopefully crashes/texture load-in issues have been minimized a bit since the last time I played.
I see both sides of this. The game likely never intended to have remote raids, but the pandemic changed that. As things roll back on that, the game is rolling back those features added during that time. Honestly, I thought that was going to be the plan all along. As someone who occasionally plays, it’s unfortunate for players who enjoyed it. I don’t blame them for resisting the rollback.
All of the reviews are irrelevant to me personally. My daughter is 3 and it’ll be her first movie in a theater. No critic review is going to effect that moment. 🙂
Not much here for me personally, but a pretty strong line up nonetheless! The only game I might be interested in isn’t listed here and it has an April 25th release date - Afterimage. If the Switch version runs well, I’m probably in for that. Love me some metroidvania style games.
With the way technology is nowadays, you just simply don’t need an in-person convention to play upcoming games now. They can easily do a video presentation to the masses, release demos to the public on their respective platforms, and likely save a bunch of money in the process. E3 was a product of its time, but like many technologies, it is outdated and replaced.
It’s unfortunate, I have fond E3 memories of years past of learning of the latest crop of games from all developers in a short period of time, but the Nintendo Directs, State of Play and Microsoft’s Developer Directs of the world bridge the gap now.
It blows my mind that I was able to walk into a store a few months ago, purchase a new physical copy of Collection of Mana years after release, but a far more well known franchise in Final Fantasy is a limited pre-order from the publishers website. I’ve been on that waiting list since day one and no notification emails have been received. Really wanted a physical copy for this one, but not well enough to be taken advantage of by scalpers.
Stardew Valley for who knows how much longer. Such a nice relaxing game to decompress to at the end of a stressful work day. Been trying to convince myself to play more Persona 5, but hasn’t worked so far. 😋
@MarioBrickLayer - I got through what I assume was most of the first stage, but it just wasn’t holding my attention at that moment of time, unlike Tunic where I was thoroughly enjoying it and I suddenly lost interest. I blame my excitement for TotK. 😂
I definitely intend to try Nier again down the road, but with backlog games like Metroid Prime, Persona 5 & Xenoblade 3 all waiting for a playthrough, it might be a while.
This has been a tough go this week. Fell out of Tunic, couldn’t get into Nier, Persona 5 didn’t hold my attention (I expect to go back to it), making it slim pickings this weekend. For some reason, Stardew Valley, a genre I’ve never enjoyed, has been my jam as of late. I just don’t know what it is, I can’t put it down!
Finished playing through Okami on Thursday, so I’m finally getting around to starting Persona 5. Too early to tell if it’s going to hook me (new to the franchise), but I’ve got a good feeling about it.
If they aren’t making a brand new Mario game, then a switch bundle with movie tickets + Odyssey seems like the obvious second choice. I’d love some type of DLC for Odyssey, even if it’s just movie skins.
I can’t believe just how much I enjoyed the demo. As someone who has literally only played two FF games (VI & VII, and VII was just completed last weekend), I still found this incredibly enjoyable. I had played previous versions either. The game is going on the wishlist, but may get purchased sooner rather than later.
Tried to start Nier Automata last night, but I just didn’t connect with it in the way that I hoped. I’ll probably revisit it in the future instead. Will continue through Tunic mostly and maybe dabble in Borderlands Collection again. I downloaded the Theatrhythm demo too, and despite not playing many FF games, I enjoyed it immensely.
Only played the demo of the first one, and in that time, so many other RPGs have accumulated in my backlog. Definitely felt like it'd be a good romp then, and since II is more of the same, it sounds like this will be a good romp too! To the wishlist!
All Mario, Wario and DK games are a must. Not sure why they skipped the sequential order of these, it feels like a missed opportunity to watch how games evolved during that era, especially for people who didn’t grow up in this generation of games.
And also, Solar Striker! I’m so glad it was on the list… I had completely forgotten about that game, but I had it when I was a kid. Definitely a fun one!
It feels like I’m going to wrap up FFVII probably later today, so maybe I’ll work my way through Tunic next before switching to a longer RPG. Would love to dive into Metroid Prime right away, but I want to knock out some of these longer games on the backlog before TotK comes out.
