In all the holiday shopping ive been doing, I've consistently found Switch 2 in stock here in the US. It did make me wonder if sales fell off a cliff or if Nintendo might be keeping up with demand, so perhaps its the first?
Glad to see this coming to Switch 2! I had just added the game to my wishlist on PC to play on the ROG Ally X too. I feel like this kind of game is just made for bite sized game sessions on a handheld device.
Im definitely going to give this a download when I get home from work. If things work out well, ill have both Metroid Prime 4 and Red Dead Redemption completed by the time it releases.
With Ubisofts handling of current Switch 2 games, im rather optimistic they could put together a playable and enjoyable version on the system. Whether it sells well or not on the console, well, thats a whole other thing.
I've been playing Diablo 2 Resurrected, The Plucky Squire, and Metroid Prime 4. Im stuck at the end of Act II in Diablo because the boss is brutal so I might end up dropping it if I can't figure it out this weekend. At least I have a large backlog to go back to!
I was wondering when the next expansion was coming. My daughter and I are still missing about 20 cards from the most current set (mostly 3 & 4* cards), and i doubt we'll get them all by then.
Still she loves when new sets comes out and shes not a completionist like I am... yet, haha.
Tonic Trouble is not a game that has crossed my space since it came out! Never played it personally during the N64 era, but id be down to check that out on NSO
I was fine with the frame rate at 30, but input lag means ill wait until things get patched. I might still download the anniversary upgrade for the OG Switch if its on sale to try for myself. If it isn't to my liking, ill uninstall to keep space free for other things (looking at you, FFVII)
Im kind of holding off on this to see if we get a 60 fps update. I played the demo on the Xbox Series X and my daughter loved watching it, and the game was interesting enough to keep an eye on it. My preference to buy would be the Switch 2.
Very unfortunate to hear. Knowing my play style, it feels like i'd be one of those people getting the repeated crashes.
Much like Outlaws, ill wait a bit for a few patches to see what they address, then maybe dive in. If it doesnt get fixed quickly, I still haven't played Assassins Creed Valhalla, which I already have on PC. Could give that a play first.
Its definitely Donkey Kong Bananza for me for Switch consoles. I'd listen to an argument for Mario Kart World, and maybe even Cyberpunk 2077 has a case too, but DKB 100% in my opinion deserves it.
Polished off quite a few games from the backlog this week! Finished Dave the Diver, Super Mario 3D World + Bowsers Fury, and Katana Zero.
The hope was that I'd have Metroid Prime 4 by now, but I still haven't had a chance to pick up a copy yet. I might have a chance today, but we'll see. If I don't get it, I'll have to dive back into the backlog. I've been itching to start Blaster Master 3, so that's a possibility too.
Perhaps we'll hear more in an early 2026 direct. I would be very surprised that Nintendo has any reveals at the Game Awards, so I would count that theory out right away.
I love my Switch 2, but my goodness, the screen is completely covered in superficial scratches and one fairly notable dig that draws my eyes to it with bright colors displayed. I can only assume its happening from removing the console from the dock.
I treat my consoles immaculately, so im pretty bummed it looks like this already. I have no other handheld screen that looks this weathered, and that dates back to my GBA. My Switch OLED, which I got day 1, could be passed off as brand new still.
My advice? Get a screen protector, no matter how great you take care of your system.
I really thought the lower priced PS5 region locked console would make things more interesting and competitive, but that appears to be short lived.
Im also surprised at the Pokémon ZA split between Switch/Switch 2 sales. Given the bigger install base on the original Switch, I thought it would be further apart then it was.
11 year old me would have loved to pretend play around with the arm cannon pillow. Mid 40s me looks at it and thinks i would get better sleep since I sleep on my arm. 🤣
Sounds to me like we have a rather playable experience on the Switch 2, which is great news. I have it in my wishlist. Looking forward to getting it in the future!
I've had this on the wishlist for quite some time! I keep putting it off because of my bloated backlog, but ive beaten quite a few games over the last few months. Perhaps now is the time!
I'll probably watch what I can before I ultimately fall asleep. It seems to be more popular to hate on these events, but I geniunely look forward to them. Watching new game reveals and trailers, even if they arent for me, makes me feel like a kid again. Add in some awards to honor the years best games is a nice way to wrap up the year too.
I recently played through the first one (got the PC version for free through either Epic of Amazon Prime) and found it entertaining for as long as it lasted. I'll definitely work my way up to this one too if the price is right.
I haven't played Dispatch, but I was looking at getting it for the ROG Ally X. I definitely think their top 5 have the right games for 2025, but placement could be argued. Personally, I would put DKB at number 2 over Hades 2.
Busy review week for the Switch, huh? Thank you for the review NL! I still haven't gotten around to playing any games in the Octopath series yet, but each release makes me more interesting in playing.
The time commitment is definitely a factor, as one poster mentioned. Its hard as a middle aged dad to commit to lengthy games nowadays. I sometimes play at night after the kiddo is in bed, but a 100 hr game would take over a month to complete... and thats if its the only thing I played!
Since I have no need for multiplayer, sounds like a 10/10 for me! Between the video comparison and the review on NL, im all in on a purchase. Unfortunately, all the $25 physical additions sold out, so ill have to wait for the next sale.
After playing the demo multiple times, this feels like itll easily pass the 500k mark over time with the right marketing and word of mouth. Hopefully theyll be able to release it soon.
Awesome! I had some doubts leading up to the release, but im so happy to hear its a banger. Guess i know what im picking up this week! Thank you for the review!
@clianvXAi - I would recommend checking out videos online of handheld play in the meantime. I've watched a few for Assassins Creed Shadows in handheld mode and at the moment, ive seen nothing that would deter me personally from getting this down the road.
Ive also never played the beefier version on Xbox or PS5, so i tend to be more impressed with the Switch 2 version than someone who may have experienced it elsewhere first.
Seems like it plays well enough, and im glad they delayed it to polish the game further. Im more curious how it will play in handheld mode.
Even if its a fine port, this game probably isnt for me. The genre just isnt my cup of tea. Speaking of delays, I wonder how Borderlands 4 is coming along...
@bixente - No doubt there will be patches. Ubisoft did great with Star Wars Outlaws (bought and completed it on Switch 2), but it was not without issues. I experienced crashes and graphical glitches a plenty, even after the most recent patches, but it never took away too much to me personally.
Even if thats as good as Assassins Creed Shadows gets to, id be perfectly fine with that.
I play mostly handheld, so the unstable framerate while playing undocked comment has me a little concerned. Other than that, it seems Ubisoft is putting in good effort to their Switch 2 games.
It probably won't deter me in the end. I played Starfield on the Rog Ally X, which delivered a mostly 30 fps experience, and it occasionally dropped into the 20s too. I sunk 100+ hours into regardless... although I learned about Frame Gen midway through, which boosted fps a bit.
Perhaps if Metroid Prime 4 wasnt around the corner, I would have picked this one up this month.
As a fan, I would love to see Switch 2 editions for the Xenoblade series, but I can't see myself playing any of these again due to the time commitment to the series. The trilogy alone took me near 300 hours, and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
I've been putting some time into Dave the Diver Nintendo Switch 2 edition. I played the original on the Switch, but fell off it at the time. Feels like im getting really close to the end!
After that, ill return to the Plucky Squire, which my daughter really loves to watch.
Hardware deals arent needed given how new and in demand it is, but since a lot of releases are ports, I think thats where you'll find some good stuff. Star Wars Outlaws at $30 is a steal, and thats from someone who put in 60-70 hours into the Switch 2 version.
I understand Game Key Cards arent everyones cup of tea and will be a deal breaker for some.
Still holding out hope for a Cyberpunk physical deal on Black Friday!
I finished Paper Mario TTYD earlier in the week, chipping away at the forever backlog even more. This weekend im juggling two more games Ive never played, Mario 3D Land + Bowsers Fury, and the Plucky Squire. Looking forward to diving in.
Nothing for me this week from the above list of games. Given the sales that just started for the holidays... I did buy the physical edition of the Final Fantasy I-IV collection for $39.99 for the Switch, and I cashed in my Microsoft Points for DQIII HD2D (Play Anywhere title, so can play on Xbox and ROG Ally X). Retro RPGs for the win!
While I would personally want to see Donkey Kong Bananza win (most fun ive had playing a game in a long time), I think Expedition 33 has it locked up. I really hope a Switch 2 version is in the works so that more people can experience it.

Re: Surprise! 'Skyrim Anniversary Edition' Lands On Switch 2 Today
Sweet! I dont have the Anniversary Pack yet, but ive seen it does go on sale from time to time. Perhaps if it drops to $9.99 again ill bite.
Kind of a bummer that its not 60 fps, but that's not a deal breaker for me.
Re: Assassin's Creed Shadows Update To Resolve Switch 2 Crashes And Stability Issues

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Metroid Prime 4: Beyond?

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's NES And Game Boy Library With Four More Titles
Solid drop in my opinion. Never could beat Battletoads on the NES, but did beat the Game Boy and SNES games.
Kid Icarus... I remember playing that on long car rides going on vacation as a kid.
Great times!
