Re: Talking Point: As A Nintendo Fan, Do You Really Need To Play The Virtual Boy?

Divide_and_Wander

I had the system along with Mario Tennis, Wario, Galactic Pinball, Red Alarm and Vertical Force. At the time it was pretty cool, but I doubt they hold up. Bought the system in a Toys R Us bargain bin for $30 when I was younger. Sold it awhile back, and since I kept everything… boxes, instructions, even the flyers to subscribe to Nintendo Power, I got a lot more $ than what I paid. The jury is still out if it was worth all the eye strain and headaches. 😂

Re: Poll: How Often Do You Trade-In Your Switch Games?

Divide_and_Wander

I’ve been moving towards digital more and more, but usually if I buy a physical game, beat it, and it collects dust for a certain period of time, I’ll offload it eventually. I’ll typically put it on eBay where I often make my money back or more. MUCH more than trade-ins at GameStop.

I'm about 20 hours in to Xenoblade Chronicles 3, and it'll probably be the only game I play all weekend on the Switch. So good!

As for the Xbox Series X, I'm still trying to find something to sink my hooks into. I started a playthrough of the first Hellblade in anticipation of the sequel. I'm not sure I'll see it through, and if that's the case, Planet of Lana seems like my next choice.

Re: Talking Point: Our 2024 Nintendo Gaming Predictions

Predictions:

  • Metroid Prime 2&3 shadow drop when firm Metroid Prime 4 release date is revealed, similar to Pikmin 4. Best case scenario would be 2&3 release in 2024, but 4 likely misses this year.
  • We’ll get both Wind Waker / Twilight Princess in 2024. There was no way we were getting those in the same year as TotK. Possible twist, NSO adds GameCube games with Switch 2 reveal, where only one will be released in 2024.
  • I think we’ll get another N64 Rare game on NSO, probably Banjo Tooie.
  • Switch 2 reveal, backwards compatability with current eShop games. I have this funny feeling that physical Switch games won’t be compatible with new hardware. That seems like a very Nintendo thing to do. 😋

I’m still on the mend from a fairly significant bout of Covid, but on the plus side, the down time has allowed more game time. Finished Arcade Paradise on the Switch a few days ago, and now I’m playing Islets. It’s a lovely little metroidvania that didn’t immediately hook me right away, but I stuck with it and now I’m thoroughly enjoying. I’ll probably finish it off this weekend, and I think I’ll be ready for a much longer experience. Xenoblade 3 is my top choice. 🙂

Re: We’ve Played Batman: Arkham Knight On Switch - Here’s 17 Minutes Of Gameplay

Perhaps I’m in the minority, but this looks like it plays quite well for the switch. I never got around to any of the Batman games when they were released, so this feels like a treat. I’ve already completed Witcher & Assassin Creed in portable mode, and this seems to be right on par with them.

I’ll still wait for the NL review, but at first glance, this feels like a solid 7 or 8 in a genre of game I enjoy.

I keep finding myself spending time in the Castlevania Advance collection, so it’ll be that and more Tales of Vesperia this weekend. I’m getting a little frustrated during boss battles in Tales. The lack of direction creates lots of defeats and replaying sections that wears on me, but I admit it could also just be that I’m not very good at it.

Next weekend should be real interesting though. I’ve already ordered Atari 50 for the Switch and an Xbox series X w/ Diablo IV & Starfield, and with Nintendo digital sales in the US I believe starting Monday, I’ll be swimming in a pile of newness. 😋

Re: Hands On: Super Mario RPG Is The Most Faithful Remake We've Ever Played

Divide_and_Wander

This was such an awesome game when I got it back when it released on the SNES. I’ve gone back and beaten it a few times, so it seems like an inevitability that I’ll pick this up at some point. The switch re-invigorated my love for RPGs, so I still have quite a few to get through before going back to this. Great to hear it retains the charm from the original.

Re: Atari Acquires Retro Specialist Digital Eclipse

Divide_and_Wander

Atari 50 is literally the next title I plan to pick up. Bite sized gaming, especially from the classics I grew up with (yup, I'm old ), will always be hard to pass by.

In regards to the acquisition, I'm glad they still have the freedom to go outside the Atari library, and I can't wait to see what they're able to put together in the coming years.

I'd love a re-release of Activision Anthology with the Digital Eclipse touch.

I haven’t decided what to start next… feeling a little bit of gaming burnout and hesitant to start a new 50+ hour game. Finished Sea of Stars, Carrion and Assassins Creed Rogue on Switch recently. I’ve been messing around in the Castlevania Advance Collection (even though I’ve beaten them all previously) while I figured out what I’ll dip into next.
