Re: Retailer EB Games' New Retro Service Offers Some Unsurprisingly Rough Trade-In Prices

Divide_and_Wander

It boils down to one root question: do you want the money now or do you want it later? You wont get what the game is worth at any trade in location, because that company wants to make money too. I turned to eBay after a while because I got more for my retro games, but i did have to package and mail out orders, plus wait for people to actually buy them.

I ended up getting multiple times more, but put more work in and it took longer to get it all sold. If I didnt want to put the work in (Looking at my Xbox games that aren't selling), ill just bring them in so i can get my $10 for 20 games. 😋

Re: Talking Point: Will Metroid Prime 4 Get A Switch 2 Release?

Divide_and_Wander

I think the best of both worlds would be to release it on Switch 1 with 'enhanced features on Switch 2'. From there, they could show the difference between the two (im thinking mouse controls, for starters), and it doesnt alienate the existing userbase.

As stated in the article, Metroid isnt the system seller that Link and Mario are, so why not position it as something the entire Switch userbase can enjoy?

On the Switch, im taking advantage of the 14 day free NSO trial to show our 5 year old the games that I grew up with. Also hoping to wrap on Lets Go Pikachu with her too. 7 badges down one to go!

Elsewhere, ill probably finish up my Hogwarts Legacy playthrough this weekend on the ROG Ally X, and I'm not sure what ill dive into next.

Re: Opinion: My Daughter Made Me Realise That Mario Wonder's Difficulty Options Need Work

Divide_and_Wander

My daughter just turned 5 last month, but we suffered a similar experience in Wonder prior to that. She also wanted to play as 'one of the girls' which made it a little more difficult.

She ultimately lost interest in Wonder, but Lets Go Pikachu has been her jam as a support character. She gets to do all the fun stuff, while i help the story move along. Its also allowed her to get more comfortable with a controller, which could have us go back to Wonder after we beat the game.

She's also played Mario Kart with a wheel accessory, and accessibility is tops for that.

Re: Talking Point: Did All The Switch 2 Leaks 'Damage' Nintendo Or The Console's Reveal?

Divide_and_Wander

I definitely think it hurt a little bit, particularly the potential for the joy con to be used as a mouse. At this point, if leakers can get that much out of a company like Nintendo, this is likely the norm now.

Ironically, we still dont know much at all. I think with all of those control schemes, Nintendo is going to have something up their sleeve that can still be surprising.

Re: Talking Point: Is The Switch 2 Going To Be Too Big?

Divide_and_Wander

As someone whose been using the ROG Ally X over the last few months... a beefier Switch model would be welcomed. Its all about comfort though. If its uncomfortable for long play sessions handheld (how i basically play everything nowadays), what was the point of making it bigger? Perhaps its internals required it to be bigger? Nintendo... please respond! 😋

Re: Genki Claims The 'Switch 2' Joy-Con Can Be Removed By 'Brute Force'

Divide_and_Wander

I really hope Nintendo does the actual reveal very soon. I have a feeling it wont be made until after their next financial report though which is likely to be early February.

Genki, in a way, is destroying the mystique of the next system reveal by Nintendo. While much of the info isn't necessarily a surprise, if some of the feature speculation ends up not being true, it could lead to disappointment by those who follow gaming news.

Re: Reaction: The Game Awards Left Us With One Big Question: Will Any Of This Run On Switch 2?

Divide_and_Wander

I actually really enjoyed the show. There was a nice variety of genres shown along with stuff that is likely years away. With this being a transition year for Nintendo, I'm not surprised by their lack of awards.

If I had to offer criticism, I felt it was entirely too long. I also can't help but be disappointed, although expected, that Silksong wasn't shown yet again. Hopefully it's part of what Nintendo is cooking up for next year (launch title?).

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (9th November)

Divide_and_Wander

I've been on almost exclusively on the ROG Ally X, playing through games I've picked up for free PC Games between Amazon Gaming and Epic Games over the last few weeks.

Some of those games were also available on Switch, including The Gap and The Spirit and the Mouse, both of which were entertaining in their own ways.

I'm also playing the original Witcher game on the ROG Ally X, and while a keyboard and mouse is preferred, I have it mapped to the gamepad to make it somewhat playable. Despite it's age (2008 release), I am finding enjoyment out of it, just from a historical perspective. Fun times!

Re: Review: Mario & Luigi: Brothership (Switch) - Easily The Best Mario & Luigi RPG Yet

Divide_and_Wander

I listened to one of the latest NVC recently where Logan (the author of the IGN review) alluded that he was disappointed in the game, so I'm not entirely surprised by his final score. He does praise the battles though, which both his and the NL review state.

If the score is so concerning from another site, maybe read the entire review to determine if his gripes will impact your enjoyment of the game or not. For me personally, it won't.
