As a ROG Ally X owner, the current grip feel is nice, but i could understand a more controller like feel may be more pleasing, despite its look.

The cost is what I'm interested in seeing. I can't imagine this thing being cheaper than $1k. Im also interested in compatability. If this thing is a dedicated PC, that means console versions won't work with it, nor will Xbox 360 purchases.

It'll also be interesting to see what the UI looks like and if they can make the historically non user friendly PC experience more appealing.

Personally, I use Dekudeals for Switch and GG for PC and Xbox. I like seeing comparisons across all retailers/storefronts for the best price. No matter how much Nintendo improves the eShop, my preference will likely remain unchanged.

I just finished Dungeons of Hinterburg (would love to see this on the Switch 2) and Doom on the Xbox Series X earlier this week, so I randomly selected a backlog game.

I randomly selected Gestalt: Steam & Cinder for the PC (playing on a ROG Ally X). Nice little metroidvania so far that I was surprised wasn't on the Nintendo Switch, although it did just release last year. Seems like a perfect fit.

On the Nintendo side of things, I've been playing more of the classics as of late like Zelda II on the NES. Nothing like a bit of nostalgia while recovering from illness!

I'd probably buy some... but it'll be on a case to case basis.

No way will I trade my Switch OLED. I wore down the joysticks so much they probably wouldn't accept it anyway. >D

I got a pre order through in the US (New York) this morning through Walmart!

Check those retailer websites this weekend! Didn't get the Mario Kart bundle, but that's okay. I prefer my Nintendo first party games as physical releases

No luck at any of the major retailers in the US. I had tabs upon tabs open for each SKU across each site, and even then i couldnt get one. I managed to get a MKW bundle in my Gamestop cart, but by the time i got through check out it was sold out.

Ill keep refreshing it in hopes to complete it, but I'm fairly certain my chance has passed. Its all on the Nintendo invitation now.

Not going to lose any sleep over it though. My Spring allergies, on the other hand, will definitely make me lose some sleep. 🤧 😋

@Burning_Spear - Was on refreshing since 10 am with nothing more than a coming soon button. At around 10:59, the site went down. I tried my best, but to no avail... it quickly switched to not available

Well, no luck on Gamestop online... within 2 minutes it was already reading not available for both console SKUs.

@Danondorf - Ironically, on the Switch OLED release day... i literally walked into a Target without a pre order and got one. Hoping good fortune smiles on me again if i cant get a pre order.

The nearest Gamestop from my job is nearly an hour away, so the earliest i could physicslly go to one is 6 pm. I'll call then to confirm, but id wager they'll all be gobbled up by then.

Bummer. Woke up this morning to no available pre-orders in the US (at least, through Best Buy and Walmart). Definitely not desperate enough to pay more on eBay. I think Gamestop is starting their pre-orders later this morning, so there's a chance I could get one then.

I have a Switch and ROG Ally X. I love my Nintendo IP, especially now that i have a kid. For virtually everything else, i use the ROG. Perhaps that will change when the Switch 2 comes out. Seems it has the capability to play a lot of the third party games on equal footing, perhaps even better. Only time will tell!

Looked nice, but felt it went a little longer than it needed to. It probably could have had a bigger impact if the video was a little tighter, around the 1:45-2:00 minute length.

Still, props to the creator on it as it looks superb!

Lets me be clear though, if Nintendo were to do something like this, id definitely be on board.

I ended up getting Mario RPG (physical) for $19.99 at Gamestop, so I'm making my way through that. My daughter really likes watching me play this one too.

Welcome Tour kind of reminds me of Atari 50 a little bit... gives some insight on its history while sprinkling in games of that era, like a museum of sorts.

I personally think it's interesting, but I definitely want to know more about it before I would get it. Between this software and the Nintendo Museum, I feel like we are in an unprecedented time in Nintendo history where they actually share info they never would have.

Coming from someone who lived through all the Nintendo console releases, my favorites were N64 for Mario 64 and the SNES for Super Mario World.

Switch 2 makes a case for best launch lineup overall though with something for all ages. Despite many ports, many of them are coming to Nintendo for the first time.

Im hoping free roam has some story mode elementd along with collectibles to find like a traditional Nintendo 3d platformer. Maybe boss battles in some capacity too?

For those up in arms about the price, maybe we'll see justification for the pricing if theres tons more on the way. If not, well, i guess i can help light some torches or something. 😂

@Oracles_fanboi - So you're saying Nintendo should undervalue something because not everyone will be able to buy it? I found their hardware price to be right in line with what it can do. I may not like it either, but it is far from unreasonable.

At the end of the day, this is a luxury item. If you really want it, make it happen. There are more ways to monitize things now then when i grew up. This is coming from someone without a college degree who has and does work multiple jobs to support his family. Occassionally, i can buy something nice for myself with that hard work and man, it feels good when it happens.

Sorry if thats hard to hear, but I stopped complaining about not being able to buy things a long time ago. If there was something I really wanted, i worked hard for it. If i didnt want to work hard for it, i guess i didnt want it that much to begin with.

Scalpers gonna scalp anything they think they can turn a profit on. Gaming is an easy target because most people want the latest and greatest as soon as possible and are willing to pay for it.

Still waiting on Nintendo's US pre-order plans...

Hopefully those of us living in the US will know sooner rather than later what to expect, and hopefully it doesnt mean a price hike to adjust for tariffs.

If it increases price, ill just re-evaluate buying it at a later date.

Im totally fine with that price to update. I never finished TotK, so i know what im doing when i get my hands on a Switch 2. 😁

As much as I want one, im not desperate for it and can wait it out if need be. Both my PC and Switch backlogs will keep me busy in the meantime.

Perhaps its because im getting older, but i just cant put a lot of energy into being mad about these things anymore. 🤷‍♂️

Im super interested in Free Roam.

I don't know if anyone else did this, but in Mario Kart 64, my brother and I used to use the hop button to climb up mountains or the princess's castle to find ways to fall through the course. For some reason, Free Roam in MKW reminds me of those days. 😋

@-wc- I know it was largely because Nintendo manufactured the cartridges and it left little profit left for 3rd parties, so they were priced higher so there were higher profits for 3rd parties.

At the end of the day though, costs are the reason, and they are arguably higher now then they have ever been. The higher pricing is not a surprise to me at all.

As im literally balancing my checkbook during this conversation, i just noticed Netflix raised my subscription cost this month. 🤣

People might not remember that at the tail end of the SNES / start of the N64 era, games were $70-$80, at least here in the US. I distinctly remember games like Chrono Trigger and Mario RPG on the SNES being there, and Turok and NBA Hangtime on the N64.

When you have nearly every industry raising their prices, why wouldnt the gaming industry follow, especially with all the news of layoffs and studio closures?

The only thing that surprised me about the price was Nintendo hit the $80 mark first during this period of time. I think this was going to be an inevitability regardless. Dont be surprised when GTA 6 is $80+.

I think it'll be an interesting little piece of interactive software, all things considered. However, it would seem that much of this interesting facts about the hardware, will likely be provided on a website.

If not, youtube will likely have plenty of videos for those unwilling to pay.

I may be in the minority, but it sounds like something i would enjoy, much like a book on a subject i like. Because of the tech demos/minigame aspects, my 5 year old would probably enjoy those. That alone is worth the price of admission.

I like the idea of this... but if definitely feels like it should come with the console.

As a ROG Ally X owner, i cant imagine increasing battery, memory, etc will help its already hefty price tag. With the X $799.99, this thing will cost too much to breakthrough to a mainstream audience. Still, Im eager to see what its all about.

Really looking forward to the Direct and what Nintendo is cooking up. Not much longer now!

Metroid Prime and Dragon Quest are definites on my list... and Pokemon so long as my daughter is still into it. 😋

Definitely want this one. Im getting DQ III any day now, so I'll be ready for this one by the time it comes out!

Overall, I'd rate it as average. MP4 and DQI&II were really all that interested me. It's still nice to see OG support though.

My daughter will be thrilled with the new pack when i get home from work. Hopefully the luck of the draw will be in our favor. 🙂

My predictions are pretty mild... I'm only looking for the rest of the Metroid Prime games, Twilight Princess and Wind Waker, Hi Fi Rush, Halo, Gears of War, Silksong, and Astrobot on the Switch.

This sounds like a terrible idea if you want third parties to support your system. Making them wait until months after launch isnt exactly a friendly gesture...

...if the rumor is even true, that is.

Im at the point where im too burned out to care until I can physically purchase it.

Between a rumored Switch Direct this week, the Switch 2 one next week, and a rumored June release date (which may or may not coincide with Xbox's summer showcase), im hoping... but im not counting on anything. 😋

Definitely skeptical at this point in time, but i'd certainly welcome it too. Nothing wrong with more games, especially since they should be backwards compatible with Switch 2.

Would be cool for select Switch games to get some Switch 2 enhancements. We'll find out soon enough!

I listen to Brian Shea's All Things Nintendo podcast, and I hope he talks about what this is all about on the next show. While I hadnt subscribed to GI in ages, i was gutted to hear about the sudden closure, especially listening to that podcast in particular. Excited to hear what the future holds!

Was hoping for a small discount on Dragon Quest III, but i guess its still too early. Theatrhythm is calling me though. Loved the demo and never got around to buying it.

Definitely a game to hold me over until the Switch 2 launch... and perhaps even past that. Very tempted to get it on day 1, but also thinking of waiting until the direct in April to see if the Switch 2 offers any enhancements to Switch 1 games.
