That kinda makes sense. If Nintendo is full of “geniuses”, maybe a lot of them are like “absent minded professors”, really smart, create incredible stuff… and completely fail to recognise the blindingly obvious.
And Nintendo are masters of missing the blindingly obvious.
I understand the reasoning behind making live service games from a financial standpoint. They can be a great source of money. As much as we hate them.
But what these higher ups don’t realise is that live service games require commitment. We can manage a couple of the ones we like, but there is no way we can keep up with every game if they were all live service. One or two may make money, sure, but there’s gonna be a bunch that will die out because not enough people can make the time to play them!
Even if the internet liked live service, we simply can’t keep up. It’s hard enough keeping up with one! It feels less fun and more like work in some cases…
TLDR, even if people liked live service, putting all your eggs in one basket is incredibly stupid
My guess for its release date would be July. Pikmin 4 was revealed at the September direct and was released the following july. Both TTYD and pikmin 4 were the “big ticket” announcements of their respective directs, so i could see them both having similar release windows. Admittedly, not the most foolproof of reasonings, but considering the release schedule, it could fit
Well, this is going to be interesting… i don’t like the activision execs, but they do have some franchises I love… My hope is that the acquisition will improve the horrendous working conditions that we have heard about over the last few years. It hurts when a franchise you love is stuck under one of the most disgusting companies, so hopefully things will improve
If they are so determined to keep this pace up, can they at least get more people working on these things? They are the most successful multimedia franchise in the world, they can afford some extra staff!
I don’t go for the shooty bang bang games (which admittedly eliminates about 52% of the market), but I can understand why fans of the series would be sceptical
I just played the pikmin 4 demo. Have to admit, I was rather impressed. It’s now on my “games I actually want to buy” list.
I did play the pikmin 3 demo and while I liked it, it wasn’t enough to convince me this is something I want to invest in. So cudo’s to the devs for making a demo that has caught my attention, otherwise this would have remained on the “I’ll kinda keep my eye on it” pile
Uh huh. Sorry EA, I’m not gonna take your word for it when you say a game is running great. The only way I’ll be convinced is when it gets into people’s hands.
This is great and all, but I wouldn’t object if they started doing ports/remasters of their early 3d offerings too. I would love to play games like Toy Story racer and A bugs life on modern hardware

@AmplifyMJ which game are you referring to? (Asking as a non UK guy who has no clue)
Re: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Drops Out Of US "Top 20" Games Chart For First Time
Well, they must be running out of people to sell it to at this rate
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 18th)
I’ve been plowing through Mario rpg, having a lovely time…
Not sure how high it ranks on my list of favourite Mario rpgs, but I’m still very much enjoying it

Re: Nintendo Is Most-Nominated Publisher At The Game Awards 2023
I wonder what kind of music a game has to have in order to be nominated for best music?
There are plenty of games with phenomenal soundtracks that don’t even get a look in…
Re: UK Charts: Mario Wonder Takes Bronze As Call Of Duty Makes Its Mark
Hold on, EA FC 24 is on the list twice!
Are there two different versions that count as seperate entries?
Re: UK Charts: Mario Wonder Takes Bronze As Call Of Duty Makes Its Mark
It is interesting that sales of COD are down by a quarter, and it still takes top spot.
I wonder if that makes it a success or not, sales wise?
I guess it will depend on if it continues to sell or not.
Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Wins Nintendo GOTY At Golden Joystick Awards 2023
Wow, I haven’t played any of these, and can still say I’ve played some jolly good stuff this year
Re: Super Mario RPG Switch Leaked Online Ahead Of Next Week's Release
On the bright side, unless there are surprise changes, spoilers shouldn’t be too much of an idea

Re: Sega's First Super Game Making Steady Progress, Still Targeting 2026 Release
Do sega have the ability to pull something like this off? Historically they’ve been too ambitious for their own good… will that trend repeat?
Time will tell
Re: Newly Discovered Nintendo Filing Shows Off "Dual-Screen, Detachable Device"
This is one of the only ways I could see Nintendo running ds and Wii U VC in the future.
Maybe not for a switch 2, but maybe the system after it?

Re: Nintendo Expands Its Switch Online N64 Library With Another Game This Week
I wonder how much it costs to port old games like this and fit them online interactivity?

Re: Random: Some Switch Fans Want A Super Mario Bros. Wonder eShop Demo
I guess the fact that some people are grumbling indicates how much they actually want to play it, so there must be a fair level of interest.
I wonder if the same reaction would happen if say… I dunno, a less anticipated title got an in store only demo?
Re: Random: Some Switch Fans Want A Super Mario Bros. Wonder eShop Demo
It would be nice to have access to a demo near me, but, the games out in just over a week, I’ll survive without throwing a tantrum
Re: Round Up: The Previews Are In For WarioWare: Move It!
Looking forward to it, it would have to be a major mess up for me to not enjoy it

Ah yes, the version of football that predominantly actually requires use of feet

We shall have to see where this goes

It’s definitely on my day 1 purchase list…
Not sure if I’ll preorder it or not yet…. Maybe someone will make a steel book… I like those.
Re: Pokémon GO's Pokédex Is Now Bigger Than Any Mainline Entry
I mean, it’s a big dex, but they have been expanding it since 2016…

@Solomon_Rambling are you self employed?
Re: Random: Super Mario Bros. Wonder's Director Is Also Happy Daisy Is Playable
@HammerGalladeBro unlikely, they did say in the direct all the characters will play the same (excluding the easy mode ones like yoshi and nabbit)
Re: Pokémon Fans Beg TPC For Pokémon Pinball Revival As Sequel Turns 20
I’d much rather beg they give the devs an extra year to develop their flagship games instead of being forced to an unreasonable three year cycle.
Or give them a much bigger dev team.

Well, nothing to see here until proven otherwise

I would say it would have been too much for one reason…
Sakuri needed the break.

What do they mean by “reboot?”
Re: Microsoft Given All-Clear In The US To Acquire Activision Blizzard
I don’t really care about the Xbox owning activision stuff.
I just care about getting rid of the guys in charge of activision right now. If this deal is what is needed to do it, go right ahead
