Whilst I do believe remasters do deserve financial compensation, these things do take work after all… from the initial trailer, I’m not seeing what about this game deserves such a price tag. I think this will be something I pick up on discount.

I mean, at least Luigi’s mansion 2 has an online mode, those things can be tricky to get working. I’m not sure that makes it quite worth the price, considering Metroid prime was quite a bit cheaper, but at least it’s something.

It’s an odd topic, remasters. No one seems entirely sure how much they should actually cost.

@Lizuka that… would be an interesting choice… unusual too, ILCA are more associated with the Pokémon company rather than Nintendo proper.

There are some theories that next level might be developing the new Mario and Luigi game. No idea if that’s true or not, but if it is, that would explain why they wouldn’t be handling this port

Wow, that’s a weird stat… a multi platform game selling 100% on one console… I assume it must be either a 99.999% rounded up or the switch version had a big discount

I mean, as much as I would love paper Mario to dominate the sales charts, realistically that’s not likely to happen

I really don’t see how ANYONE benefits from this. Even Nintendo, what benefit do they get from this? Are they planning on releasing a sheet music book? That is literally the only way I can see them benefitting.

I wonder who at Nintendo is behind this? Are they aware of how counterintuitive this practice is?

Retro: a system no longer being manufactured by the manufacturer (in its original lifespan, a re-release years later doesn’t count)

Very smart move on their part, it enables them to work on what they want without some brainless executive deciding to shut them down on a whim.

It has to be a case by case basis.

Ttyd isn’t just the original game with increased textures. It’s been rebuilt, almost completely. The developers took about as much time to make it as they did making the origami king (a four year gap between entries), so many of the assets have been redone in that modern paper style. And so much new music.

People worked hard on it.

(If a new game appears within, say the next two years, then I will rescind this comment, because if that was the case, well, then this didn’t take as much work after all)

But a game like, say DK Tropical Freeze, where it’s just the original game with a new character and mild tweaks, well, that doesn’t warrant quite as high a price tag.

(Admittedly, they probably didn’t get the revenue they deserved the first time the game came out)

I took this survey, I am so, so paranoid that I ticked the right boxes. Because a big reason paper Mario had that big shift was because of survey results that I can only assume the developers took the complete wrong way.

So I hope I ticked the right stuff, if I missed one out, maybe they’ll think “right, better get rid of that part”

I wonder if this means there’s been a supply issue, like a delay in shipment to these stores? Like, if these preorders are being posted to customers, maybe they won’t get the units in time to ship them to customers, but they will get them in time to stock on shelves?

However, if this issue is more widespread than Walmart and Amazon, say… it happens everywhere, then I’d assume Nintendo are doing it deliberately.

Game companies have been doing a lot of shady stuff, but I’d still like to hope that things like this are incompetence rather than malicious. Of course, if it is a scummy move, I will be rightfully unhappy about it

@pneumaticgnosis well, yes, twitter is gross. We had a terrorist incident here in Australia, where someone was stabbed and the footage was shared to twitter, and despite the government asking to take it down (because why would you keep that kind of thing up?!) twitter has been refusing.

I wouldn’t expect endless ocean to be a big seller, I recon it’s a pretty niche title.

Certainly better than 5/10, but it just isn’t going to appeal to everyone.

I would assume Nintendo don’t think it’s gonna be particularly large, the fact that so many people didn’t even realise it was a Nintendo title at all because of it being in a partner showcase probably means there ain’t much hype around it.

So, with low sales expectations in mind, I hope it meets them!

I recon Nintendo decided to announce this direct so far in advance (by direct announcement standards) because they probably realised “our investors are gonna start panicking because we have nothing with an actual release date beyond June”.

Investors have been know to panic at the drop of a hat made out of lighter than air gas, meaning it didnt actually drop in the first place
