It's Nintendo Download time, North America, and this week certainly brings decent variety and some much anticipated games. There are two exclusives across Wii U and 3DS that stand out, along with some other downloads and Virtual Console entries on both current systems. Let's get to it.
Did you miss the European Download Update details this week? Hey, don't worry, they're right here.
Wii U eShop
Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails (Dakko Dakko, $9.99) — This Wii U exclusive has suffered a couple of delays, but now arrives with its blend of rail-based shooting action. In a sense it's a strategic bullet hell title, as you manoeuvre through environments to find and rescue trapped cats; you're encouraged to primarily focus on the GamePad screen, while tips and a TV-style presentation are on the TV — they can be switched if you desire. In our view it's a fun game that isn't quite top tier, though it still earned a recommendation in our Scram Kitty and his Buddy on Rails review.
Color Zen (Cypronia, $3.99) — This aims to provide a relaxing puzzle experience, in which headphones and presumably a comfortable chair are encouraged. With a promised 460 levels and a minimalist but potentially interesting concept, this could be worth a look; we'll chill out and bring you a review soon.
Wii U Virtual Console
Adventures of Lolo (HAL Laboratory, $4.99) — After last week's return of the Game Boy Advance, it's back to the NES for you Wii U owners. In this 8-bit title you tackle a number of tricky puzzle rooms to collect hearts and reach a treasure chest. We enjoyed it way back in the day in our Wii Virtual Console review, and will now take another look.
Wii U Retail Download
Wii Party U (Nintendo, $TBC) — Your eyes don't deceive you, Wii Party U is coming to the Wii U eShop on 16th May, but without — surprisingly — the Wii Remote and stand of the retail version. What a scam! In any case, this is probably to cater for the upcoming Mario Kart 8 free game promotion. Here's our Wii Party U review in case you are curious to find out more.
3DS eShop
Moon Chronicles: Episode 1 (Renegade Kid, $8.99) — Called "One Small Step", this is the first episode of four that'll recreate DS title Moon on the 3DS, while it also seizes the crown as the first full-on FPS on the portable. This first part is the largest of the four, and overall we enjoyed the experience enough to give it a solid recommendation in our Moon Chronicles: Episode 1 review.
ARC STYLE: Baseball 3D (Arc System Works, $4.99) — This series of titles continues with one of the most popular sports in North America and Japan, with local multiplayer and modes including tournaments and exhibition matches. It promises a "full-scale Baseball game", so we'll step up to the plate with a review.
Candy Match 3 (Bigben Interactive, $7.99) — Apparently also a retail release in Europe, this seems to be download-only in North America. As the name makes clear this one's all about matching items, which can be fun; it's not exactly a genre short of options, but we'll see how this one stacks up in a review.
3DS Virtual Console
Mega Man IV (Capcom, $2.99) — Mega May continues, hopefully continuing the happy vibes we had from Mega Man III. This is still the Game Boy series, and this time Dr. Wily is using mind control to take over the world, the scamp. We'll jump in and let you know what we think soon.
3DS eShop Temporary Discounts
Note — the press release suggests more games from these two publishers will also be reduced, without providing further details.
Code of Princess (Atlus, $14.99 from 19th May to 2nd June, normally $29.99)
Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked (Atlus, $14.99 from 19th May to 2nd June, normally $29.99)
Smash Bowling 3D (Big John Games, $TBC, discounted from $4.99 until 5th June)
Big Bass Arcade: No Limit (Big John Games, $TBC, discounted from $6.99 until 5th June)
DSiWare
Deep Sea Creatures (Collavier Corporation, 500 Nintendo Points) — DSiWare lives on the darkest depths of the sea, it seems, as this title appears to involve exploring these depths for fish and keeping some in your own tank. You'll be responsible for feeding the various breeds and keeping them happy; we'll take the bait and net a review for you.
Those are the options this time around, North America. Let us know what you're planning to pick up in the poll and comments below.

I choose Mega Man IV but if I could vote a second time, it would be for Scram Kitty.
OMG LOLO! Sorry, that one excites me because I wasn't really expecting that. Think I might go for it.
Definitely Scram Kitty for me. Been wanting that for a long while now.
Also, WII PARTY U ON THE eSHOP?! Took you long enough, Nintendo!
If ARC STYLE: Baseball 3D (3DS eShop) can just be above average, I'm picking that up. God 3DS needs a worthwhile baseball game.
In no way shape or form is Scram Kitty a bullet hell. It has nothing in common with any of the bullet hell games.
Yeah totes! Adventures of Lolo is a random VC release! XD
I'm getting Mega Man IV.
I'll go with Mega Man IV although I won't be downloading it now. When my 3DS gets back from repairs, I'll probably download III and IV (and of course V and Xtreme 2 when they release). I would be interested in Moon Chronicles, but...episodes...
Hey, one thing I didn't get from NL's review of Moon Chronicles, but I think I've read before, is Moon Chronicles Episode 1 basically the entire original game?
No, Scram Kitty is no Danmaku (bullet curtain/hell). But it DOES look super fun ^_^
Scram Kitty, Moon Chronicles and probably at least one of the discounted Atlus games for me. Probabky won't get all of thise this week, but will get em all eventually.
I was told by the Big John Games tech support that they had a patch for Coaster Creator that they were going to submit to Nintendo to fix the glitch where people move out of the coaster cars, and with all the Big John Games discounts, I'm hoping that patch will release today.
Lolo was my jam. I'm on that.
To anyone who might be ready to complain about this week's lack of VC games on Wii U; if you've never played Adventures of Lolo, look up a video of it and decide for yourself if it might be worth your time. If it is, by all means download it, I promise it's worth it!
Super lame offerings,that is all..
Bah!
Pretty sure i'd get Code of Princess and Shin Megami Tensei: Devil Survivor Overclocked for 15€ each if that offer ever came to Europe.
Just waiting for MK8.....
@LeasTwanteD Same here considering SMT: DSO is still €45 when I see it in stores. I just waiting for Renegade Kid to have a release date for Moon when it is released in europe.
Poor VC. How the mighty have fallen! Hopefully E3 will inject new life into you!
Well, nothing for me this week, but I hope this means we'll eventually get Adventures of Lolo 3. I waited for so long for them to release it on the Wii VC and they never did . . .
Scram Kitty (finally), (probably) baseball, and (maybe) Lolo--Moon will be purchased if/when the four eps are bundled for $15 or less.
Pretty nice week for me. Scram Kitty, Moon Chronicles, and I'm eyeing that SMT discount for sure.
Color Zen and Arc Style baseball look interesting too, will probably snatch them up eventually.
Based of the last couple weeks it seems as though Nintendo is content with Failing. Wouldn't you think if Nintendo was doing so bad they would release games that people would want to buy? 25 percent said nothing this week. I don't get it. Most of these games they release are equal to Andriod games. 10 dollars for Scream Kitty. Nintendo confuses me.
I know my family wants me to download WiiParty U with my MK8, but I can't see not getting the stand or 'mote with it. WINDWAKER HD???
Finally! I know the name of Adventures of Lolo! I remember borrowing that from a friend back in the day but could not recall the name to save my life! Not a bad game from my recollection.
Picking up scram kitty without a doubt, in spite of my embarrassingly large backlog!
Getting Scram Kitty. Man, only have $8 left in my eshop account! Oh well, need to get Adventures of Lolo too.
Oh yay, no Wii U demos. Again.
Having 12 demos is a joke.
where's mario kart snes for the vc?!
@Giygas_95 yup it's the whole first game
@WhiteTrashGuy Wii Party U is okay, but better as a $10 mini-game collection thrown in with a WiiMote Plus and stand, much like Wii Party and Wii Play was when they released. I have it and Wind Waker HD, and Wind Waker is the better of the two.
As for this week, nothing for me that released new but possibly will be picking up NES Remix 2 or Child of Light after payday.
Wow, both Scram Kitty and Moon this week. Getting the former today, the latter later. Never played Lolo either.
EDIT: I may get Color Zen as well. Looks unique.
Megaman IV for me today
"Wii Party U (Nintendo, $TBC)"
No wiimote means the game should cost $ 10.
If it will be $ 39 (or even higher!), I swear I'll never download anything from them anymore.
@biglittlejake scram kitty is an independent game. The publishers choose the price. Did ya ever think a chunk of that 25 percent could just be broke or waiting for mario kart
@andreoni79 man you guys hahaha the only reason it is up is for the mario kart promotion. Jeez are you realy going to get mad over wii party u? Hahahaha
@faint I may look into it then...I kind of hope the other episodes will be like add-on packs to the first game because I'd rather not have multiple Moon Chronicle games on my system. That's one reason I don't care for episodes.
@faint So they will remove it after the promo? BTW, I can't care less for that game, I'm just scared and bored by their insane policy about digital games!
Code of Princess for $15 is pretty damn tempting, but I'm strapped for cash so I'll have to pass.
I just bought a 3DS earlier this week. This was one of the worst decisions I have ever made...
...because now I'm going to be taking advantage of all these deals and discounts left and right! Code of Princess and SMT for $15 each? I can't afford NOT to take those offers! Mega Man IV for $3? Why not? CRAP, WHERE DOES IT END?
I'm bad enough at snapping deals up on the Wii U, but now that I've added the DS and 3DS into the mix, where the heck will I find time to play all these games?!!?
I'm most likely going to grab Moon Chronicles.
I'll get MMIV, probably tomorrow because today I need to study for my last final of the semester.
Which I should be doing right now instead of posting on NintendoLife.
I'm content for this week but I do wonder how much the Wii Party U will cost out of curiosity.
i'm getting code of princess and devil survivor overclocked next week at that price.
Nothing for me. Still waiting for Mario Kart 8
Getting scram kitty. Might get Lolo but i have 2 and 3 on my Nes.
Didn't realise you guys still don't have Wii Party U on the eShop. Australia's had it up since launch. Bad news is that it's full price over here ($80!) Big rip off but yeah it's obviously for the Mario Kart 8 promotion.
Dang, was hoping to see more GBA virtual console... Fire Emblem just came out on the Japanese Wii U and I've been waiting to play it again(the saving broke on my GBA cartridge...)
To anyone that downloadas Moon Chronicles, can you post the number of blocks required to download the game to the 3DS? I've only got about 1850 open blocks on my sd card. I'll be getting the game tomorrow as i have no money in the bank. Have to wait till pay day. Bummer!
Dear Nintendo,
April proved to us that the Wii U VC doesn't have to suck.
May reminds us that it still sucks most of the time.
So... thanks?
Me
I have played Scram Kitty for a couple of levels now (from the EU eShop). It's an absolutely unique game, and the controllers feels very very good, but it's HARD (but it's never unfair)! Tropical Freeze seems like a very easy game all of a sudden.
@biglittlejake: Scram Kitty is absolutely worth the price (if you like challenges).
scram kitty, meow !!!
Quite a few downloads for me this week. gets credit card out of wallet Scram kitty, colors, arcstyle, moon chronicles, lolo and overclocked. Maybe another depending on what the other Atlus games are. credit card laughs evil laugh I will pay it off by the end of the month this time! Also I might start getting the portable vc May mega man releases, well the good ones anyway.
I'll be checking out the reviews, & looking into the Scram Kitty game(though I don't have a WU yet, edit: I look into review for WU games for when I do get the console.), & Mega Man IV(although I probably will just get V sometime later, as that is the only completely new MM story for the GB meta series). For right now, however, I am patiently waiting, & saving my eShop funds for Shantae & The Pirates' Curse. So, this is another week I'm getting nothing. Gotta prioritize what games ya want!
Wow! ANY Shin Megami Tensei game for $15 is a steal! (Code of Princess is probably worth that at most though, heh).
I am obscenely intrigued by that baseball game. I don't play baseball, nor have I really played video baseball, but those ARC STYLE games have a certain broken, mediocre charm sometimes.
Busy week. Moon. Kitty and Princess FTW !!
I won't be downloading anything until 30 May by the looks of it. =)
Downloading Moon Chronicles now!
Where is Bubble Bobble for the 3ds?
Megaman and the original Lolo be still my heart.
I'm getting Wii Party U for free, but I was curious to see how many DDP points I'll get from it. I do hope a low price will compensate for a lack of a Wii Remote Plus and GamePad stand, but I also want to earn a good amount of DDP points. I'm already getting 2 codes for buying MK8, but getting a third from Wii Party U would also be nice.
So how much is Wii Party U at retail, anyway?
@Stratostar
How many blocks were required for Moon Chronicles download?
All about scram kitty this week.
Still surprised that nintendolife gave the game the lowest score of all reviews for the game so far.
@XCWarrior Yeah, I hope so too. Gonna wait on some reviews first though.
@Gustoff 1390 blocks
@Gustoff
It was 1390 blocks but remember the other episodes might be similar in size so if you like it enough to get the rest you will probably need a bigger SD card
@Stratostar
@SetupDisk
Thanks a bunch. Yeah, i know eventually i need a bigger sd card. may get one next time around. I need to look for a good sale. Missed a good one a couple weeks ago for a 32gb for $8.99. Oh well, there will be more i'm sure.
@biglittlejake The price for Scram Kitty seems alright considering what the game seems to offer but I could see how one may disagree.
Either way, the game is not made by Nintendo and Nintendo does not control/regulate the price of third party games. If you feel the price is unfair, that would be something to take up with Dakko Dakko.
@andreoni79
What would be the point of not buying ANYTHING digital from them anymore? Wouldn't it make a lot more sense to just not buy that game digital from them?
Great week. Think I'll get both Scram Kitty and Moon.
Great deal on Code of Princess.
Mega Man IV and Scram Kitty! Great week for old school arcade-style action!
Hmmmmm Should I get Code of Princess?
Mega Man IV for me!
Poor Lolo is dragging behind. You kids know NOTHING ABOUT FUN.
Having played the original release of Moon on DS, and now put about an hour into Chronicles, my only complaint with the new version would be the cut scenes. The cut scenes are not 3D and do not look to have been improved upon from the original. That being said, the graphics during actual gameplay are a huge boost and look fantastic. The trailers do not do it justice. I always liked the Metroid Prime Hunters style touch screen FPS controls, but the cpp works great in this game as well, so theres options there. really looking forward to playing through this one again!
Probably Mega Man.. otherwise, the e-wallet is safe...
Moon Chonicles
@WhiteTrashGuy Same here. My boys want Party but they're getting Windwaker or Pikmin 3.
Anyone know the price of Party?
Arc baseball for me. I hope the outfield is better than the youtube video showed. Every ball dropped would not be good unless its a build a team up kinda thing
@jools congrats from the survey it looks like people are excited to get Moon. Hope it does great for you
Moon and Scram Kitty!
I'll get Moon first then Scram Kitty they atleast got good reviews
I haven't got over clocked yet. I'm all about it.
Nice games this week. Moon is my #1 choice but I also want to grab Scram Kitty and Mega Man later. Nice little ATLUS sale on 3DS, CoP is a really fun brawler, worth the sale price imo.
I might get Devil Survivor for that price.
Make mine Mega Man
I was planning on buying a retail copy of Wii Party U, but then I just get a huge kick in the face when I saw that it's sold out at the EB Games I go to(Or atleast new copies). So I might get myself Wii Party U from the free promotion of Mario Kart 8.
Devil survivor or Persona 1,2.3 for the vita Would of grab you at 10 bucks Devil but for 15 i would rather have the 3 persona games
Just downloaded Scram Kitty. I am most impressed. Dat jump mechanic....
Just looked at the Eshop video for the baseball and what does it show? Balls being dropped by the outfielders bonks head I hope there is a way to change that! @nintendolife if you review this game please check on the outfielders for us and see if you can tweak them to catch the ball. It looks like they drop to many out there in no-mans land lol.
I want to get Arc Baseball but will hold on for a review due to dropped balls in the outfield.
@sleepinglion
thanks for the letter.
we have decided to slow down progress just because of it.
have a nice day!
-ogo79
head virtual console guy
Natta. All the games listed there that I care about (Devil Survivor), I own already. The other choices (except maybe Code of Princess) are lame.
I'll end up buying Moon Chronicles once all the episodes of season one have been released, but besides that there is nothing for me this week.
@MarceloKamui the last snes vc game was released on jan 30th! It's disgusting! And yet still no n64 or genesis games!!! Terrible!!
Lolo is a lot of fun, but it's a bit of the easy side. Lolo 2 is much harder. I haven't played Lolo 3. The odd thing is that the JP Famicom counterparts of Lolo 2 and 3 have completely different levels. The first NES Lolo doesn't have a counterpart with the same graphics, but a couple of the Eggerland games for Famicom and FDS share the same levels. The Famicom game (the title translates to something like Revival of the Labyrinth) and first FDS game actually have a maze like structure with multiple paths to choose from after completing a puzzle.
Yess. Im soo getting code of princess.
Really was hoping to see Super Mario Kart come out before MK8 hits stores. Wanted to start psyching myself up on the tracks...
@slidecage Yeah. I'm going to get Persona 1 & 2 off of PSN. 3 and 4 were absolutely amazing, beyond words actually. I hope the first two are just as good.
@ogo79 HA! I love it =D
@KoiTenchi I just can't understand how someone can still agree with their policy about digital. They ask more and give us less, and it's ok for most of the gamers.
For example I use to play Wii Party when my sister's kids visit me with their copy of the game. Now I'd like to download Wii Party U for € 10/15, but obviously Nintendo prefers to (not) sell it at full price...
@Excep7iona
Just keep your expectations in check lol
They are really good, but also dated. Especially P1. I had fun with them, but P1 is more like old Shin Megami Tensei. If you ever played Strange Journey on DS, or Soul Hackers on 3DS, think along those lines. P2 is sort of the middle step between that old first person dungeon crawl style and P3/P4 style. I like them a lot, so if you aren't sure about the older style maybe skip P1 and get the two P2 games (you can get the PSP version of the first part and the PS1 version of the second part).
Anyone else notice that these Atlus sales haven't shown up in the shop? At that price, I was ready to impulse buy Code of Princess. But it's still $30.
@jariw I just recently bought a Wii U. I used to have PS3 and Vita. I just got sick of playing games with swearing and suggestive humor. When I had those I always wanted to play Nintendo. I sold my Vita and PS3 and bought a Wii U and 2DS. I just wish they would release more of their games that made them famous like Mario, Kirby, Yoshi, Zelda. I mean really they only are putting NES. SNES or GBA classic games on the Eshop. Where's all the GC games they promised or N64 games? It doesn't make sense they hold off on releasing game 2-3 years away. Usually when someone is failing they try to fix it. But can anyone honestly say it looks like Nintendo is trying?
@biglittlejake Just buy them on the Virtual Console in Wii mode. It has tons of N64 games.
I picked up Arc Baseball. Its a pretty much straight laced game of baseball. I like it. The players are very well animated and the batting is nice and simple. Graphics are just OK. Quickie review I give it a 7. It plays nice and fast and is easy to pick up and play
Something about Moon Chronicles seems wierd to me, what guarantee does anyone have that they'll make the DLC packs? What if 'funding runs out'? I'm not giving them $9.00 until they release all the content. :/
