Re: Review: The Legend Of Zelda: The Wind Waker (GameCube) - A Timeless Treasure

I know WW is much loved, but I just couldn’t gel with it… at least compared to earlier titles. I would say for me, pre switch it’s probably #5.

It’s a great game still, but against some stiff competition. If I had embraced the game cube era and played at release, my nostalgia points might have been higher.

Essentially the seafaring needed to be streamlined and if they had expanded the undersea world I would have given this a 10/10.

But when you head into that last dungeon I remember thinking just how freaking amazing that point in the game was. One of the most epic bits in the series.

Finally got my hands on it. The transfer of switch 1 is ongoing. My box came with a Mario kart world download code that also took some time to install. The process was very straight forward. Mario Kart World is a bit samey, but my kids love it and I’m hoping it will grow on me. The 24 player is definitely more chaotic.

@N00BiSH I very much appreciate this simpsons deep cut reference. I suspect GameCube will be much like ‘the turkey’s a little dry’

I’m conflicted about GameCube. Wind waker and TP would be great, but as others have said, a HD remake is preferred. Which leaves just fzero gx, but honestly I’d rather play fast rmx.

GameCube probably needs some of the classics I missed like rogue squadron or metal gear twin snakes etc.

I will get the pass though for BotW, TotK and Kirby.

Re: Rumour: A Nintendo Direct May Drop Around The Switch 2's Launch

It kind of makes sense. We’ve had wave one of games. If they drop it in the days before, it might keep demand up when stock is low to build hype and exclusivity.

Also there may be same absolute bangers to drop. Weren’t people talking about a morrowind remaster, doom dark ages could be a chance, etc etc.

I hope (and suspect) my kids will love game chat. They would love to see their friends whilst playing and no doubt they wouldn’t care about choppiness of game performance. I think game chat will be a hit with the kids but it will be a pity for the dedicated gamers.

Re: Feature: The Long & Rainbow Road To 'Mario Kart World', From SNES To Switch 2

Sadly I never got into SMK. In the SNES era, F-Zero got me first and when I tried SMK later on I just didn’t like it.

Mario Kart 64 will probably forever be my favourite racer though because nostalgia and it was just an era where you played local multiplayer which is probably the most fun way to share a game

Also whilst I realise the rainbow road bit in the title is a play on a common phrase, I came in here thinking was going to get a glimpse of Mario kart world rainbow road

For me frogger and quake and goldeneye were pretty neck and neck. Quake was amazing with a loyal following but the original doom was probably that bit more influential in that space. And frogger probably also had some more influential games at that time.

Goldeneye blew me away at the time it dropped in ?1997. I remember thinking that it was like controlling a movie (please don’t laugh at me - it was the 90s!). I basically bought my n64 for goldeneye (and then Zelda dropped).
