Re: Opinion: I'm Celebrating Super Mario Bros.' 40th Anniversary By Finally Finishing It

timp29

I haven’t played through it for probably 30-35 years. No judgement from me. There are far better versions of Mario.

SMBs historical value is far greater than its playthrough value in this day and age(to me). Especially with 3D Mario’s etc. also as I’ve gotten older and more time poor this is not a game I would choose to go back to.

It’s strange having kids that would be my age when I played Mario but they mostly have little interest and lack the skill to play this. I think I would have been 9 / 1989-1990 when I first encountered Mario. Game designers have provided far more options and platformers don’t appeal to my kids anyway

Re: Super Mario Galaxy 1 + 2 Prices Are Live, And It's Sticker Shock Time

Doesn’t surprise me. Nintendo has long had the cynical strategy of selling the same game multiple times.

I’m glad they’re not forcing you to buy both. But I’ll be super annoyed if the Mario Galaxy 1 is hugely improved.

I would love for Nintendo to include NES / SNES without a paid subscription. It would be a nice offering for their customers.

Re: Metroid Prime 4 Rating Spotted On Nintendo's Website

lol at this redacted thread!

A bit off topic, but were there sources that said prime 2 and 3 had been ready for ages? Or am I imagining it. It may have been that TP and WW had HD versions waiting.

Anyway would love some more prime games before beyond

Re: Revived Publisher Acclaim Is Teasing Something For Next Week

I remember acclaim back in the day. Can’t remember their games though…. Time for some google-fu

I spent a lot of time on the wizards & warriors trilogy - looking back time has not been kind and I think rare probably had their fingers in it. And Bart v space mutants I played a bit but wasn’t the best game on the NES.

I’ll be surprised if this generates much excitement

Re: Feature: 32 Games We're Dying To See On Switch 2

I would love to play shadow of the colossus - so bring that back like portal. Otherwise I’m very into doom right now, plays pretty good on switch 2, so give me an impossible dark ages port. And I’ll take Indiana Jones just because I’m an 80s/90s kid at heart

Re: Review: Drag x Drive (Switch 2) - A Real Baller With Friends, But Is There Enough To Do?

I imagine pushing a wheelchair builds some real wrist strength. So those of us not in wheelchairs with fragile wrists just have to accept the developers bringing that realism of wheelchair based sport through the discomfort of sideways joycons.

I writing this in jest of course.

This is not very PC but in terms of wheelchair based video games, but I always imagined a Stephen Hawking Pro-Wheelchair game in the vein of tony hawk. It would have been ridiculously funny and because it was Stephen Hawking the physicist maybe you could chuck in a teleport ability because clearly this would not have been a game to take seriously.

Re: Best Nintendo Switch 2 Third-Party TV Docks

timp29

Switch 1 the plug in the base of my dock broke from toddlers constantly pulling the console in and out.

Bought a 3rd party ‘dock’ that resembled the talacone and had no issues. If the dock fan provides no cooling to the switch as others have pointed out, then replicating a plug/cable and HDMI output seems a reasonable option.

I will look into this for the second tv

Re: Review: DOOM (Switch)

timp29

I tried to play this back in early switch 1 days. Partly as a homage to the original which I played to death back in the 90s. The loading times sucked, I struggled with the playstyle that needed constant aggression and didn’t come back to it until switch 2.

Now that I’ve figured out the playstyle that works, wow I love this game. Just bought doom eternal when I’m only halfway through doom 2016 and fingers crossed dark ages lands on switch 2.

This is a very enjoyable game I have to say, but for those who played the original there is a learning curve and you cannot play cautiously.
