Honestly… I’m very dubious about how well it will translate to film, and given the passion for Zelda, anything other than a 9/10 or 10/10 will leave fans non-plussed, so I see this as a massive gamble by Nintendo.
Probably not. My switch is on its last legs and the usb-c connector doesn’t reliably work for charging or screen projection. So I’m just trying to limp through to switch 2.
Pretty happy I got 8 years or whatever out of my OG switch, but everything drifts now 🤣
Had a read of some of the comments. They need a hybrid model. Subscribe and get some NSO access and then this gets you discounted VC purchases. Might help drive sales of both and hopefully each could subsidise the others prices
If NSO dies, so does an established library. They’ve come to far to rejink it now.
That being said the NSO layout just doesn’t work for me, I find it so hard to go through. It should be like the streaming services when you hover over a game cover, a written description and a second window with game play footage also displays
I only ever played the 3ds version. It was such a unique departure from the Zelda formula at the time. I can’t think of too many games that have followed a time loop pattern since. It’s basically Groundhog Day and the classic Nintendo doing wacky things.
While I appreciate the game, I’m not as wildly passionate about it as others.
Moderation of socials seems to be too hard looking at recent trends on twitter/x and Facebook. Given that Nintendo has a large audience of children if they sell 100million of these things they will be setting themselves up for a lot of work. Better to avoid it
Staff are an expense and they’re also people. So glad I don’t have a business where I have to balance the jobs of the many against the jobs of the few.
Also switch is almost within 3 million of reaching DS. God I hope it gets there. 160 mil probs not going to make it, but I would be very interested to see what they say PS2s figures are if things got close
Nintendo learned their lesson from the WiiU debarkle. Also the industry seems less cut throat. WiiU the vibe I got was everyone was more than happy to celebrate Nintendo’s failure, now everyone seems to have Nintendo’s back (kind of). But in all honesty, criticising for switch -> switch 2?? Those that are complaining are complaining that Nintendo isn’t wacky enough???
We do need a Metroid prime 4 trailer and release date. They will want to spruik it before April with a Metroid themed switch 1 to try crack the sales of DS at least
@Milk_ thanks for some insight into valve’s operation. I’ve got no problem with the steam deck, would happily own one but I would probably never have time to play it Clearly valve has done a lot right, but I’m a little surprised they got their sales figures wrong. Whether you have a lot or a few employees, that’s people who depend on you. It’s worth having accurate figures so you can pay them etc
Such a classic business move. We are responsible for millions of dollars in transactions and employ lots of people whose families depend on us but we can’t accurately track our income generation.
People on the other sites may think this article has been blatantly pro Nintendo, and there is a clear correction statement that this was based on valve’s original figures. Much like PlayStation 2, what business can’t keep track of their sales figures? I’d be embarrassed to be valve.
The reveal was super vague. Really just showed a new form factor. Didn’t even demonstrate the new features particularly well. Hints at mouse functionality but if it wasn’t for suggestive leaks, it was hardly obvious.
In terms of defining the switch generation (which is the article header)…
Definitely Doom/Witcher 3 in terms of amazing, bordering on impossible, ports.
Definitely Animal Crossing for pandemic gaming.
I think TotK / BotW in terms of peak Nintendo in this generation (which makes me lean to TotK over BotW).
Remasters probably deserve a mention, in which case Metroid prime or Links awakening.
Maybe a worthwhile mention would be breaking down of barriers between Microsoft / Sony / Nintendo which would for my mind be best summed up with Portal, or perhaps goldeneye.
Mario Kart 8 is probably the game of the generation. It’s sold from beginning to end.
And sure pick an indie title or two to best represent that area.
Otherwise I’m out. Can’t think of many other themes that define the switch generation uniquely.
Great discussion generating article though. How do people think switch will be remembered??
So many leaks. Nintendo must be happy for this kind of publicity… and it’s starting to work I think. Maybe Nintendo figures that since the hardware is fairly similar, underground leaks is enough and they are banking on most people being more interested in release games - which will be the focus of their reveal.
Most of these titles should have a bit of a following. I think switch will surpass the DS. And fingers crossed for PS2. I can’t believe there is still life in the console

Mid gen crisis… I’ll be playing my oled switch in a convertible with an escort after joining the gym and getting hair implants.

As switch 2 approaches, hoping for some more info to slowly drip feed us

That quote mentions 3D Mario and Metroid prime 4 which is interesting but not surprising

Solid animation. That’s an amazing fan effort.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Ninja Gaiden III: The Ancient Ship Of Doom (NES)
Early days but pretty lopsided love for NA art at this point. Also the NA ninja is just more badass

NO TRADE INS!! We must get switch to outsell ps2
Re: Activision Teases Tony Hawk's Return In A New Update

And after GameStop pays $50 for the trade they will sell it used for $20k (assuming same business model as eb games in Australia)

Re: Nintendo Taking "All Possible Measures" To Combat Switch 2 Scalpers
The scalper model depends on stock shortage so they can inflate prices. I guess they themselves can drive shortages if they buy enough.
Nintendo can either i) make a buttload of stock or ii) have a purchase system that limits this to 1 item per person (but this is hardly fool proof)
People have already covered these options and option iii) find scalper and kick in balls is too difficult and smells like assault

Re: PSA: 'Nintendo Switch 2 Experience' Invites Are Now Being Sent Out
Probably half the tickets are for press and influencers to be honest. Us plebs probably don’t add much to nintendo’s plans for world domination.
Re: PSA: 'Nintendo Switch 2 Experience' Invites Are Now Being Sent Out
Got rejected from Melbourne, Australia. Who am I kidding I’ll still buy a switch 2 day 1. Would have been nice to take my kids though.

I think there was a ton of lost opportunity here
