I really did not like the snes Mario kart, but then had like the author describes, Mario kart 64 battles with beers etc. So basically 64 was my jam for years. Although now, it’s not aged that well!

Some of the glitchy short cuts were outrageous. But at the end of the day, chuck the game out, it was probably the beers and friends bit that was really so memorable 🤣

One reviewer really favourable and one reviewer now visiting the physiotherapist for life!

I was always so disappointed (spoiler) about the end game undersea stuff. It felt like an opportunity for more dungeons etc. WW could have been the best in the series (my opinion only) if they had more content at that point. Felt like a real missed opportunity

I think it’s like asking us to pay extra for instructions. I do think nintendo has completely missed an opportunity here.

Doom was great and its historical contribution to gaming was immense. But I played this to death like 20 years ago. Hats off to the people keen for this. But I don’t really get it.

I’ll reserve judgement until I play it. I had pretty decent Mario kart fatigue after 7 on the 3ds then 8 on the Wii u before a rehash on the switch. My kids were mental for Mario kart though.

I hope it gets me back into the franchise!

The expansion pass is good fun but hardly necessary for the full experience. I wouldn’t say people are missing out on a significant portion of the experience if they go without. Actually I find the expansion pass brutally hard 🤣 for some it may detract.

Also the only comparison we needed was someone carrying a ps5 and flatscreen tv.

The switch 2 is what it is. It isn’t really comparable to any one system because it’s a weird unicorn that is 2 systems in a way.

Its cost is partly governed by parts and manufacturing and shipping and taxes. And then the nebulous stuff of profits, supply, demand etc. Annoyingly this is on the tail of post covid economic recovery with a world leader experimenting with tariffs who is having an unpredictable impact on financial and currency markets.

Games prices are still up in the air. We will have to wait and see what retailers actually do. I always felt if there was any ludicrous pricing it was online games. But we are seeing prices raise on everything else, game production requires high outlay of money, takes a long time, is high risk, has people doing the hard work who need pay rises like the rest of us. Welcome to the future, everything is more expensive we are only just recovering from a global period of high inflation and wage growth is just starting to catch up.

I would say it’s on track to get better but one leader who thought people were kissing his ass to make a deal got his ass kicked when people dumped US bonds. I just hope the 401k’s of our US brothers and sisters recover.

I feel awful for Nintendo though. This will impact Switch 2 USA sales for sure as there appears to be no negotiation. It’s very unfortunate timing to release a console right now.

I would have thought tariffs was to drive manufacturing back to America which is a reasonable goal. Funnily enough Australia was one of the last countries hanging on to tariffs for this goal (for electronics manufacturing) but some think the release of the colour TV killed off Australian tariffs.

Nintendo should just ship everything to Canada and people can drive over?

I had reservation about the ‘thin-ness’ and worried that the mouse /controller would tilt and lose contact. The case idea is the perfect solution.
Watching the Metroid prime demo though, it’s almost like they expect you to Witcher mouse only for brief periods.
Could also be total gimmick / Nintendo being Nintendo. On paper it’s a great idea!

These games have allegedly (rumour mill) been complete for years! And MP4 drops and unless you have a Wii still running there is no chance to visit MP 2 and 3. Please don’t release them (or TP) via GameCube NSO or I’ll be very disappointed. Waves fist at Nintendo (but only a little because I still want my switch 2)

I really admire the pun / play on banana with bananza… but how does this work in the Japanese translation? Probably the least important thing about the game but I can’t get this question out of my mind!

I’m shocked there isn’t a 3D Mario. But ultimately was blown away by the line up of games otherwise. As soon as you both talked about mouse mode it seemed wild to think that such a ‘thin’ device would work well. Sounds gimmicky at this point.

I have mixed feelings. I think this movie will be mediocre and won’t capture the magic of the game. Happy to be proven wrong but honestly I’m just super nervous this will flop.
