We do need a Metroid prime 4 trailer and release date. They will want to spruik it before April with a Metroid themed switch 1 to try crack the sales of DS at least
@Milk_ thanks for some insight into valve’s operation. I’ve got no problem with the steam deck, would happily own one but I would probably never have time to play it Clearly valve has done a lot right, but I’m a little surprised they got their sales figures wrong. Whether you have a lot or a few employees, that’s people who depend on you. It’s worth having accurate figures so you can pay them etc
Such a classic business move. We are responsible for millions of dollars in transactions and employ lots of people whose families depend on us but we can’t accurately track our income generation.
People on the other sites may think this article has been blatantly pro Nintendo, and there is a clear correction statement that this was based on valve’s original figures. Much like PlayStation 2, what business can’t keep track of their sales figures? I’d be embarrassed to be valve.
The reveal was super vague. Really just showed a new form factor. Didn’t even demonstrate the new features particularly well. Hints at mouse functionality but if it wasn’t for suggestive leaks, it was hardly obvious.
In terms of defining the switch generation (which is the article header)…
Definitely Doom/Witcher 3 in terms of amazing, bordering on impossible, ports.
Definitely Animal Crossing for pandemic gaming.
I think TotK / BotW in terms of peak Nintendo in this generation (which makes me lean to TotK over BotW).
Remasters probably deserve a mention, in which case Metroid prime or Links awakening.
Maybe a worthwhile mention would be breaking down of barriers between Microsoft / Sony / Nintendo which would for my mind be best summed up with Portal, or perhaps goldeneye.
Mario Kart 8 is probably the game of the generation. It’s sold from beginning to end.
And sure pick an indie title or two to best represent that area.
Otherwise I’m out. Can’t think of many other themes that define the switch generation uniquely.
Great discussion generating article though. How do people think switch will be remembered??
So many leaks. Nintendo must be happy for this kind of publicity… and it’s starting to work I think. Maybe Nintendo figures that since the hardware is fairly similar, underground leaks is enough and they are banking on most people being more interested in release games - which will be the focus of their reveal.
Most of these titles should have a bit of a following. I think switch will surpass the DS. And fingers crossed for PS2. I can’t believe there is still life in the console
Hate them both. Love the game. Considering there isn’t even a master sword in zelda 2, don’t even understand the sword which doesn’t even have a scale that makes sense.
Japan for the win similar reasons to the post above
My kids play a bit so mine is: TotK, overcooked, BotW.
A little disappointed echoes of wisdom and Metroid prime remastered didn’t make the cut
I played through BotW master mode, so that makes sense. But I think my kids just love terrorising villagers and koroks and it turns out they may have put 100 hours into that… the little psychos
Maybe my nostalgia for ninja gaiden NES is strong. But this ninja 1987 kinda looks like an inbred cousin of ninja gaiden. Hopefully the gameplay is intense.
@AmyTheBrawler yeah Nintendo deserves to have switch 2 leaked… they’ve dragged it out too long. It’s nothing short of a miracle that more hasn’t surfaced
@RetroGames even if it only appeals to current switch owners, that’s only 140 million-ish 🤣 But yeah, hear your concerns. Time will tell I suppose… and at the end of the day Nintendo first party titles will probs sell consoles and 3rd party support will keep it relevant. I’m more worried that Nintendo has burned out the Zelda production line and will have prime 4 for launch (not the most mainstream franchise) and they will need a banging Mario iteration to have a hope
Having worked in some toxic environments there are ways to deal with people in a supportive way and still get the desired outcomes. Clearly this guy was an unhappy employee. I’m not sure any of us were there to be able to dismiss his experiences so lightly.
Can only really vote for little kitty big city, stray and echoes of wisdom. Thought stray and echoes were excellent. Minor gripes around controls and menu scrolling aside
Went back and replayed BotW and TotK to decide once and for all which is better and had to go with TotK. That’s my sad gaming year summarised. 3 kids and a busy job. Adulting sucks
To keep the most true DS set up, I would say WiiU asymmetric play, but this won’t work with the current cradle set up. Also it won’t work for people who want to play on the go, so will probably need some second screen access when paused set up.
I actually think it will be very difficult without some modification to the base game to be honest

Re: PSA: 'Nintendo Switch 2 Experience' Invites Are Now Being Sent Out
Probably half the tickets are for press and influencers to be honest. Us plebs probably don’t add much to nintendo’s plans for world domination.
Re: PSA: 'Nintendo Switch 2 Experience' Invites Are Now Being Sent Out
Got rejected from Melbourne, Australia. Who am I kidding I’ll still buy a switch 2 day 1. Would have been nice to take my kids though.
Re: PSA: Don't Fall For This New 'Wukong' Game On The Switch eShop
That’s the state of the eshop. Haven’t we had articles on this?

I was about to buy 160 million steam decks but then the switch 2 announcement dropped

Yeah. What he says more or less applies to me
Re: Nintendo's Surprise Switch 2 Trailer Is On Track To Surpass 20 Million Views
The vast majority of people haven’t been watching leaks like we have, so it’s probably far more profound a reveal for most

But where is the lamentation of their women?

I think there was a ton of lost opportunity here
Re: Poll: Are There Any Good Lord Of The Rings Games On Nintendo Consoles?
Tip of the hat to the author. “May I have some mordor”? Dickens cross Tolkien. Well played

ITS ABOUT TO GET REAL!
Re: Team Ninja Gears Up For Its 30th Anniversary
Probably has nothing to do with team ninja, but the original arcade side scroller ninja gaiden would be cool

Gotta catch all ‘em sales. And beat PS2

I’m sure the sony CEO will miraculously find a receipt in the glove box of his car for 5 million PS2s sold in America
Re: 'Nintendo Music' Adds A Huge Zelda Soundtrack, Here's Every Song Included
God I hope you were able to copy paste that list
Re: PSA: If You're Into Switch 2 'Leaks', It's The Wild West Out There Right Now
Nintendo needs to pull their thumb out and do the reveal before they lose control of the narrative
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Okami
I voted Europe because 1) bias (that’s the version I had) and 2) I actually like both equally
Re: Video: Here's Your First Look At The Witcher 4's Cinematic Reveal Trailer
Looks epic. Chances of a switch 2 release?? Probably low

Switch is reaching peak Tetris though

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's NES And Game Boy Color Library With Two More Classics
Is NES Tetris is considered the definitive version for competition? I’m guessing emulated versions won’t replace this? Anyway, NES Tetris is exciting
Re: Round Up: The First Impressions Of The Sonic 3 Movie Are In
Wow sounds positive. My kids are going to lose their minds. I’m going to be hearing sonic themed questions for the next few months

@OwenOtter I can’t read that without hearing the music
Re: Review: Legacy Of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered (Switch) - Raziel Returns With A Feature-Packed Pair
I have a feeling this may not be approved for Australia? Not showing up at all in the eShop and is certainly the 10th now
Update for the aussies: Google says comes out 11/12 in Australia at 2am AEST
Re: Anniversary: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Is Now Six Years Old
Sadly I could just never get into smash. I recognise it’s a brilliant franchise but street fighter and tekken brainwashed me back in the early days.
Re: Review: Legacy Of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered (Switch) - Raziel Returns With A Feature-Packed Pair
Just looking forward to the intro with epic booming notes.
Also was a big fan of crystal dynamics back in the 3DO…. They did solid work in the mid 90s (loved crash and burn and total eclipse)

Re: Nintendo Download: 5th December (North America)
God I hope all eshop purchases come across to switch2
Re: Poll: After Three Quiet Months, Will We Finally Get A Nintendo Direct In December?
I don’t see it happening this year. I’m hoping the next direct will either be switch 2 announcement or Metroid prime 4 gameplay.
