Re: Steam Deck Sales Business As Usual For Valve During Week Of Switch 2 Reveal

timp29

@Milk_ thanks for some insight into valve’s operation. I’ve got no problem with the steam deck, would happily own one but I would probably never have time to play it
Clearly valve has done a lot right, but I’m a little surprised they got their sales figures wrong. Whether you have a lot or a few employees, that’s people who depend on you. It’s worth having accurate figures so you can pay them etc

Re: Steam Deck Sales Business As Usual For Valve During Week Of Switch 2 Reveal

Such a classic business move. We are responsible for millions of dollars in transactions and employ lots of people whose families depend on us but we can’t accurately track our income generation.

People on the other sites may think this article has been blatantly pro Nintendo, and there is a clear correction statement that this was based on valve’s original figures. Much like PlayStation 2, what business can’t keep track of their sales figures? I’d be embarrassed to be valve.

Re: Poll: So, What Did You Think Of The Switch 2 Reveal?

timp29

The reveal was super vague. Really just showed a new form factor. Didn’t even demonstrate the new features particularly well. Hints at mouse functionality but if it wasn’t for suggestive leaks, it was hardly obvious.

I think there was a ton of lost opportunity here

Re: Feature: 8 Games That Defined The Switch Generation

timp29

In terms of defining the switch generation (which is the article header)…

Definitely Doom/Witcher 3 in terms of amazing, bordering on impossible, ports.

Definitely Animal Crossing for pandemic gaming.

I think TotK / BotW in terms of peak Nintendo in this generation (which makes me lean to TotK over BotW).

Remasters probably deserve a mention, in which case Metroid prime or Links awakening.

Maybe a worthwhile mention would be breaking down of barriers between Microsoft / Sony / Nintendo which would for my mind be best summed up with Portal, or perhaps goldeneye.

Mario Kart 8 is probably the game of the generation. It’s sold from beginning to end.

And sure pick an indie title or two to best represent that area.

Otherwise I’m out. Can’t think of many other themes that define the switch generation uniquely.

Great discussion generating article though. How do people think switch will be remembered??

Re: Talking Point: Is The Switch 2 Going To Be Too Big?

timp29

So many leaks. Nintendo must be happy for this kind of publicity… and it’s starting to work I think. Maybe Nintendo figures that since the hardware is fairly similar, underground leaks is enough and they are banking on most people being more interested in release games - which will be the focus of their reveal.

Re: Feature: Nintendo Switch Year In Review 2024 - Our Most Played Games

timp29

My kids play a bit so mine is: TotK, overcooked, BotW.

A little disappointed echoes of wisdom and Metroid prime remastered didn’t make the cut

I played through BotW master mode, so that makes sense. But I think my kids just love terrorising villagers and koroks and it turns out they may have put 100 hours into that… the little psychos

Re: Eagle-Eyed Fans Think They've Spotted The First 'Switch 2' Image In New Satisfye Trailer

timp29

@RetroGames even if it only appeals to current switch owners, that’s only 140 million-ish 🤣
But yeah, hear your concerns. Time will tell I suppose… and at the end of the day Nintendo first party titles will probs sell consoles and 3rd party support will keep it relevant. I’m more worried that Nintendo has burned out the Zelda production line and will have prime 4 for launch (not the most mainstream franchise) and they will need a banging Mario iteration to have a hope

Re: Rate Your Favourite Switch Games Of The Year 2024

timp29

Can only really vote for little kitty big city, stray and echoes of wisdom. Thought stray and echoes were excellent. Minor gripes around controls and menu scrolling aside

Went back and replayed BotW and TotK to decide once and for all which is better and had to go with TotK. That’s my sad gaming year summarised. 3 kids and a busy job. Adulting sucks

Re: Talking Point: What Would Be The Ideal Way To Play DS Games On 'Switch 2'?

timp29

To keep the most true DS set up, I would say WiiU asymmetric play, but this won’t work with the current cradle set up. Also it won’t work for people who want to play on the go, so will probably need some second screen access when paused set up.

I actually think it will be very difficult without some modification to the base game to be honest
