Re: Random: StreetPass Fans Are Hunting For A Super-Rare Puzzle Swap Panel

timp29

I would have to charge and fire up my 3ds. I travelled through Japan in 2014. Could it be on there? Should I check?

I remember getting over a hundred street passes at Disneyland Tokyo probably in March/April 2014. This was better than the birth of my child!!

It will be a few days before I can check this… I’ll keep you posted.

Re: Here's Your First Look At The Gex Trilogy For Nintendo Switch

timp29

@Cipher36 loved way of the warrior. White zombie doing the sound track was immense. Road rash had sound garden on the sound track too. The 3DO was a pretty good system.

Crash and burn was another game I played a lot of

I second your vote for 3DO and salute your brilliant taste in games… I played almost all of your list A LOT

Re: Reaction: A Direct That Delivered, And Shows That Switch Still Has Plenty Of Pep

timp29

Carbonara…

Even though much of this is not for me, there were a significant number of games which have huge followings.

Also Nintendo managed to keep so much under wraps… new Mario brotherhood game, new Zelda game, MP4 less kept secret but still a huge deal. That stray game, I knew nothing about because I don’t own other consoles but former GOTY contender… that’s pretty big too.

So I have to give this a 10. Quality of games is high, but more importantly Nintendo kept this all under wraps.

New Mario, new Zelda, new Metroid, dragon quest etc. It would be hard to top this without the switch 2 reveal direct having similar catalogue + Mario kart

Others have started speculating on switch 2 release now and to add my 5 cents, they would be crazy not to aim for coming into Christmas 2025… peak sales period, lots of time to keep manufacturing units and time for ports… lots of ports

Re: Video: For 365 Days, We Took Our 2DS Everywhere Just For StreetPass

timp29

I loved street pass on my 3DS. Best ever street pass was Disney Land Tokyo. Had to stop every 30 minutes to clear through the next 10 street passes. Annoyed my wife no end (edit: this was 2014 and I had no idea there was a >10 limit introduced in 2016 - thanks for that gem Zion). At the time I was living in Cairns in Far North Queensland in Australia, maybe a town of 100-150K people which would yield ZERO street passes no matter what I did - and pre covid this was a tourist Mecca / party town.

Prior to that though I would occasionally go to street pass meet up events and it really did encourage me to keep my 3DS on me everywhere I went as a 30 year old.

So I think street pass is actually a really positive feature, both community building and encourages you to use your device (a positive for Nintendo).

I endorse street pass for switch 2 👍

Re: Talking Point: What Other LEGO Zelda Sets Would You Like To See After The Deku Tree?

timp29

Deku tree is disappointing, but I think I will have to buy from a collectors perspective. A larger scale set ie hyrule castle is almost certainly in the works.
I hope they do a set from each major 3D Zelda, and a 8 bit tribute to the original.
OoT - deku tree
MM - the moon or the mask?
WW - the boat set, I think a lego ideas submission had it rocking on the waves way back when
TP - wolf link
SS - ??
BoTW - guardian or hyrule castle
ToTK - Zelda dragon with master sword

Re: Video: One Year Later, Our Video Team Share Their Thoughts On Zelda: TOTK

timp29

I’ve basically finished a second playthrough, just farming to get fierce diety set maxed, and almost have full hearts. Then I’ll stomp ganons face again. Second time through was no better or worse, but I found BOTW better the second time. Sadly that comparison will always loom over TOTK’s legacy. It’s a great game but the lesser sibling

Re: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Celebrates First Anniversary With Special Artwork

timp29

I have to admit, second stage ganon power bar was epic.

The journey of the master sword was some great storytelling. However, the rest of the story was a bit of a letdown, and it’s still a little jarring if you try to join the BOTW and TOTK stories any more than superficially.

TOTK is a great game, I can’t deny it, it’s just such a shame that BOTW came before it as it is just a bit better.

Re: Nintendo Acknowledges That Successor Announcement May "Impact" Switch Sales

timp29

Hopefully the longstanding rumour mill of prime 2 and 3 being ready and HD WW and TP being ready are true. Easy money for nintendo.

I actually hope Metroid prime 4 is a launch title for switch 2.

Who cares about ps2 numbers anyway. A portion of their sales were primarily as a dvd player and Sony has already moved their lifetime sales figures once. Switch has sold like hotcakes including during a global financial slowdown because of the pandemic. Someone put up that graph of Nintendo profits in the switch era the other day… I think that’s the metric that shows who the real winner is.

Re: Talking Point: Would You Want To Reuse Your Joy-Con On 'Switch 2'?

timp29

The big reason for joycon backwards compatibility would be if you can get a cheaper model of switch2 without joycons from a money saving perspective. Cost is always a barrier to uptake in a new system.

Otherwise I would think most would be better off with new joycons, but there is definitely merit to wireless backwards compatibility only.

Re: Rumour: 'Switch 2' Said To Be Fully Backward Compatible With A Larger, 1080p Screen

timp29

My switch is on its last legs, the charging dock only works about 50% of the time, so if there is backwards compatibility switch2 will be a day 1 purchase for me. I’ve mainly gone digital over physical too so fingers crossed that doesn’t backfire on me and the transfer between units is seamless.

I sincerely hope that NSO comes with a dump of new content and doesn’t continue this pathetic trickle. Virtual console on the Wii was the last time Nintendo got it ‘right’ and ironically was what brought me to this website originally hahaha
