Re: Switch 2 Users Are Reporting Instances Of Their Consoles Overheating

stevenw45

I had the overheating issue with the rtm release of the Nintendo switch. It was to the point of where the screen started to warp.

Hopefully the Nintendo switch 2 isn't having that issue. We don't want Nintendo releasing a mid generation refresh of the console just to fix another heating issue that their hybrid consoles are having.

Re: Review: Nintendo Switch Online GameCube Controller - The Return Of The King

stevenw45

i love having the GameCube controller on the Nintendo Switch 2. unfortunately Nintendo forgot to add a select button to the NSO version of the controller.

because of this i have to remap the controller since some games require it. for example, Super Mario Odyssey uses the select button to access the map for the different levels. however, remapping a button or two for better access to the start and select buttons (as needed) is acceptable.

its too bad Nintendo can't release updates for a selection of their games to make full usage of the NSO GameCube controller without the need of remapping the controller for the different games.

now that we have a GameCube controller for the Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo should update Super Mario Sunshine to support the controller. they make it so that the Super Mario 3D All Stars version of Super Mario 64 so why isn't making updates for other games to make usage of the NSO versions of the Nintendo 64 and GameCube controllers.

it would make a nice gift for Nintendo Switch 2 owners which is needed since there was very little launch titles for the console. and Nintendo Switch 2 versions of select games to not count as launch titles.

Re: Poll: Are You Happy With Switch 2's Screen? Because Some People Certainly Aren't

stevenw45

I haven't used my Nintendo switch 2 in handheld mode yet and I still haven't used my Nintendo switch 1 in handheld mode.

If image blur is going to be an issue then maybe Nintendo should give us an option to limit the frame rate on the console.

I'm surprised that Sony or Microsoft haven't done something like that yet. You would really think there would be some sort of option that will allow you to set the console to OLED or LCD mode if you would like instead of being forced into automatic system detection.

At least some systems allow you to enable or disable HDMI-CEC. At times I find it annoying but only because certain positions of it are forced on you and some of the defaults go against the user...

Re: PSA: Here's How To View The Iconic GameCube Startup Screen On Switch 2

stevenw45

its too bad that Nintendo can't make that boot animation the startup default for those who wish to have it. i don't want to hold down the left analogue stick to have that animation. i would like an option to make it the default.

it would also be nice to have an option so that animation can be used for when starting up the Nintendo switch for those who have a GameCube NSO controller.

Re: Want To 100% 'Welcome Tour'? You'll Need To Cough Up For Some Accessories

stevenw45

At least we can tap ...---... to skip unplayable tech demos and mini games.

They should add 1-1 scale versions of all of the levels in super Mario brothers as well as many of the other super Mario 2D platformer games on the NES and SNES.

It would also be nice to have full screen versions of the games if where every level shows up in full from the left to the right of the screen.

It would make an interesting game play mode for the older 2D platformer games

The Nintendo Switch 2 welcome tour game should be updated to include Nintendo's older gaming systems.

It could be called "Nintendo gaming history museum tour". It would be nice to have the tech expo app include all of the gaming systems and their accessories.

Just picture moving from the Nintendo switch over to the Nintendo switch 1. Or better yet, moving over to the Wii, the GameCube, or even the Gameboy Color.

However, not only will you have to finish certain goals to move into the next, you will have to find certain hidden items or references to not only unlock the different exhibits, but to make them findable. (a.k.a. they won't even be built until you meet the prerequisites.

Re: Video: 10 GameCube Games We Want On Switch 2's Online Expansion Pack

stevenw45

If they bring over the GameCube version of animal crossing on NSO then hopefully it will include some minor updates.

Or better yet, they can release a new version of animal crossing for the Nintendo switch 2.

The new version of animal crossing will start out like the original but unlike the original the landscape will naturally evolve over time.

For example the map may increase over time, terrain type may change or will have better control over how it gets changed.

The train station will get updated as time goes on with the option of adding an airport. Possibly even getting a recycling center instead of having a town dump to deal with.

And Tortimer will eventually ask you to take over (assuming you are on good behavior). (That includes changing the clock time to get things done faster.) And yes, he will be able to take his job back if you are misbehaving....

Re: Community: Which Switch 2 Games Are You Wishlisting?

stevenw45

I can't wait for the newest Mario Kart. The Nintendo Switch 2 editions of the Zelda games just gives me a reason to replay some of my older games.

I would be more excited about GameCube games coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 but I still have my GameCube around with a collection of great games. It's just too bad that I am in need of replacing the console's internal coin battery.

If Nintendo finds a way to make their NSO variants compatible with the GameCube itself than everything will be perfect.

Re: Nintendo Confirms Switch Controllers Are Compatible With "Switch 2 Exclusive Games"

stevenw45

i wonder if the NSO GameCube controller will work with the Nintendo Switch as well even if it it can only be used in Super Smash Brothers Ultimate.

Hopefully the NSO GameCube controller will be usable with games other than the GameCube NSO app. it would be nice to use it with Mario Kart World and other games on the Nintendo Switch 2.

Hopefully Nintendo will release an update for the Nintendo Switch pro controller so that it can be used to wake the Nintendo Switch 2 from sleep mode. (it is the only feature missing from the controller...lol)

Re: GameCube Games Confirmed For Nintendo Switch Online On Switch 2

stevenw45

with Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2 being ported over to every new Nintendo gaming system since they were released on the GameCube, it would be interesting to see the two games make an appearance on Nintendo Switch online. (with Minor updates)

I wonder if Nintendo will released an updated version of the GameCube controller adapter for the Nintendo Switch 2. or maybe the NSO versions of the GameCube controller will include an adapter so that they can be used with the GameCube. besides Nintendo said that support for the Nintendo GameCube controller adapter on the Nintendo Switch was an accident.

Hopefully soon they will add Mario Party 4, 5, 6, & 7 just like they added Mario Party 1, 2, & 3 to the N64 NSO app. but for now i am waiting for Luigi's Mansion to be added. i wonder what regional version of the game they will include? or will they included minor updates to the game so that it gets the best from all of the different regional variants. for those who never noticed each regional variant has a different difficulty level for the hidden mansion mode.

Re: Rumour: New Switch 2 Rumour Makes Wild Claim About Mysterious 'C' Button

stevenw45

It's nice that Nintendo might be allowing us to use the switch 1 as a second screen for the switch 2. However, can we please have the option of using the Wii U gamepad with the Nintendo switch 2 as well.

For all we know that Nintendo plans on sunrising us with Wii U backwards compatibility. (Accessories and digital games only)

However, it may just be a 'C' button. We had them on the Nintendo 64 and the GameCube got the 'C' stuck.

But, I prefer the possibility of long overdue backwards compatibility. For all we know Nintendo might possibly start the direct with the 'C' button just to mess with us. Besides, they want us to 'C' the console and not the games.

Re: Nintendo Announces 'Virtual Game Cards' For Switch, Unlocking Digital Lending

stevenw45

when i first heard Nintendo saying "Virtual Game Cards", i thought that we would finally be able to copy over our games from the physical cartridges to the console

however, i guess their idea is okay even though i may never use it.

by the choice of words that they used it shouldn't effect a gamer from playing a game on a console as long as the account that make the purchase is associated with the system regardless of which user is the primary.

the primary console system that Nintendo added a while ago started creating limits on sharing digital games. due to the choice of words that Nintendo used this new feature should have very little effect on sharing games on systems with multiple accounts.

all the new Virtual Game Cards system does is allow you to share games with other users in which do not have your account on it. its just basic licensing.

Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo currently already have the same game sharing limitations across accounts and systems. the biggest change that the Virtual Game Cards system will do is make sharing games across consoles easier with the unfortunate downside of transferring ownership of the game to a new person for a limited time; stopping you from being able to play your own game from your own account.

Re: Talking Point: What Would Be The Ideal Way To Play DS Games On 'Switch 2'?

stevenw45

Nintendo should just add backwards compatibility with Wii U games. Having digital only backwards compatibility with the Wii U would be acceptable. Besides it would be nice to put the old console's accessories to use.

Having compatibility with the Wii U game pad or having it so that you can use your phone as a controller would help with porting over Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS games. But first I would like to see a GameCube game or two available via Nintendo switch online.

Re: It's Official, 'Switch 2' Will Be Backwards Compatible

stevenw45

having backwards compatibility will help me make it so that i won't have to have too many gaming systems connected to my TV at the same time. i already have 5 gaming consoles connected to my TV; having 6 might be a little too much.

backwards compatibility with the Nintendo Switch is great and all, but maybe we will get lucky and they will add backwards compatibility with digital Wii and Wii U games. however, they better make it so that all of the NSO controllers work with the Nintendo Switch 2.

Re: Random: Someone's Figured Out How To Run Custom Code On Nintendo's Alarmo

stevenw45

nice to know that custom code can be run on it. can it be used to fix the volume on mine. it doesn't go up that high despite what the settings tell you. at least the motion sensor works well. (and wakes me up as it should...)

its nice having mario on the face of the alarm clock, but can we have one of his friends too. maybe, peach, bowser, boo, or luigi. or possibly have link and mario at the same time.

Re: Random: Oops! It Looks Like Banjo-Tooie's Idle Demo Is Sped Up On NSO

stevenw45

The Xbox port of this game has the same issue and was not this fast. The N64 had a speedup issue as well, but only was only present when widescreen mode was enabled. The issue in the other versions of the game didn't cause the demo to speedup this much.

Hopefully Rare and Nintendo will fix the issue by Christmas. Hopefully other issues as well. And maybe Microsoft will be nice as well and fix the Xbox ports of the Banjo-Kazooie games.

The Xbox ports and the N64 games have the same base set of issues. Certain issues only appear in the Xbox ports because they are being ran in an emulator as well as differences in button mapping and forced/updated widescreen support.

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's N64 Library Next Week

stevenw45

finally, they added this game. the next RareWare game on the list is Diddy Kong Racing. before playing Banjo-Tooie, i might replay Banjo-Kazooie first.

hopefully they will update the games so that the Stop 'n' Swop functionality has been added. and for all we know they will be updating the note collection system in Banjo-Kazooie with the option of reverting it back to when desired. The notes only reset every time the player re-enters the level because of limitations in the hardware, but some of those issues have been fixed before the N64 was discontinued in favor of the GameCube.

Nintendo could have updated that gaming mechanic when Banjo-Kazooie was originally added to NSO but they didn't. it was already fixed and updated in the xBox version.

Hopefully Banjo-Tooie being added to Nintendo Switch Online is not a sign that Microsoft made a deal with the devil so that they could help Nintendo with the Nintendo Switch 2.

for all we know Microsoft is dropping out of the console wars in favor of partnering up so that they can produce what they always wanted; the Nintendo xBox...lol (a console the is not only backwards compatible with all xbox systems, but is also backwards compatible with all Wii, Wii U, and GameCube games, and accessories)

or for all we know an updated version of Rare Replay will be released on the Nintendo Switch 2.

Re: Switch Online's Expansion Pack Promises "Excitement" In 2025

stevenw45

for all we know this could mean that the Nintendo Switch has some sort of GameCube backwards compatibility. something like Nintendo giving out GameCube update DVDs or whatever that allow us to update the original GameCube so that select games can receive updates.

or for all we know the Nintendo Switch 2 could have sort of Wii and Wii U backwards compatibility system that will allow you to transfer your digital Wii and Wii U games over to Nintendo Switch 2.

for all we know NSO subscribers may receive an update to their consoles allowing them to use Wii U controllers or whatever. (this being the worst cast scenario)

Re: Rumour: Nintendo Might Be Gearing Up For A GameCube Controller Comeback

stevenw45

i wonder if this means that there is a possibility of getting an updated GameCube controller adapter for the Nintendo Switch (with Nintendo Switch 2 compatibility) that will allow the system to properly recognize the GameCube controllers instead of them being misidentified as Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers.

it would also be nice if they did something so that they would be compatible with the GameCube (via Bluetooth adapter or whatever).

Re: Super Mario World Lego Set Revealed, Here's A First Look

stevenw45

this set is almost perfect. (its only missing the bonking action that Mario does to make Yoshi stick his tongue out. however, that may be a bit much.)

now we just need additional Super Mario World Lego sets. maybe a set portraying one of the boss battles. maybe the first one were Mario is fighting Iggy on the boat.

the boat would be on a double track type this. one allowing the boat to move from left to right and right to left. then the secondary one would allow the boat to tilt left and right.

then there would be a track on the boat itself with moving platforms for Iggy and Mario to stand on

Re: Famicom Controllers For Switch Are Now Up For General Sale In Japan

stevenw45

it is nice to know that the Famicom controllers for the Nintendo Switch are now up for sale in Japan. now Nintendo just needs to make them available to buy in the U.S. having both the NES and Famicom controllers would be great.

and maybe soon after the Nintendo Switch 2 hits the shelves, we might just get a new variant of the GameCube controllers. or at least possibly a updated version of the GameCube controller adapter that lets the system recognize the controllers properly.

Re: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Update Now Live (Version 1.0.1), Here Are The Full Patch Notes

stevenw45

nice to see that they fixed some spelling issues. however, they still have a few more of them to go.

hopefully soon they will update the game to 60 frames per second.

or maybe they will add something to the gallery that will let you see the dialog differences between the two versions of the game. for example hooktail has a different weakness in the GameCube version of the game.

@SuperBro64 I've never noticed a badge duplication glitch in the Nintendo Switch remake until today but i might give it a try. i noticed a similar glitch in the original, but that just raised the cap limit for collecting badges. unfortunately it creates an issue were the save game data becomes corrupt. the glitch is cause by certain codes when using an Action Replay to cheat.

Re: Video: Don't Be Fooled Into Buying Fake SD Cards For Your Switch

stevenw45

i have never had the issue of where a SD card was falsely advertised as such. of course then my taste in technology can be very costly and i have the tendency to keep my electronics until they die on their own instead of phasing them out when the newest piece of tech comes along. (lets just say that at one point i used to use a 20+ year old HDD with my Wii U for external storage...)

fortunately i know how to fix this damned storage capacity issue. long story short, it is possible to format a drive as if it has a higher or lower capacity than it actually has. it is an easy fix but not always worth the trouble these days. dealing with KB and MB is a lot different than dealing with GB and TB.

Re: Super Mario 'Mario Kart' LEGO Releasing In 2025

stevenw45

maybe the Lego Mario Kart is just a tease for the newest mario kart game...lol

@SplatRay001 Isle Delfino sounds nice. but what version of it? the one where Mario has to clean up? or the one he finally cleaned up...lol

maybe next they can release a scale model of Luigi's mansion made of Legos.

Re: Random: Some Rare Fans Are Upset About The Latest Switch Online Announcement

stevenw45

i am a bit disappointed that they did not add banjo-tooie to the list of games available through the Nintendo switch online subscription.

i never even considered that they would add Rare Replay. but that's only because i already knew that they were not going to do so. not now, anyways...

i heard rumors about how rareware was working on a new banjo-kazooie game. assuming that they are doing so, we may have to wait until then to see rare replay on the Nintendo switch.

Re: LEGO Animal Crossing Launches March 2024, Five Sets Announced

stevenw45

i guess nintendo is done with the Lego Super Mario sets.

i probably won't get any of the animal crossing sets unless they create actual models of the different buildings like they have with the lego creators expert sets.

just imagine having your own animal crossing town made out of Legos. i would probably have the sets referencing the different places from the GameCube version of animal crossing.

if they do make model buildings, i'll probably purchase them and have an entire table displaying them all. for all we know they may make sets for the different dirt, river, beach, and sand tiles.

then we would really be able to truly create our own animal crossing town.

these sets are fine, but i want a actual animal crossing set; one that will give me a challenge. i got a lot of the Lego Super Mario sets, but they are setup to look like actual Super Mario brothers levels.

Re: Luigi's Mansion 2 HD Gets Spooky On Switch Next Summer

stevenw45

other than the new princess peach games, this is one of the few 2024 games I'm looking forward to. now Nintendo just has to release the original Luigi's mansion game over to the Nintendo switch and the trilogy will be complete.

and (unfortunately) i never finished playing the second Luigi's mansion game. mostly because playing games on the 3DS started to hurt my hands for if i tried playing games on the system for more than 40 minutes at a time.

like others i also have a dislike towards how it got multiplayer modes. it would have been nice for them to have added bonus features like allowing us to play as peach instead. (I'm sorry Mario, but its time for your girlfriend to return the favor and save you for a change...lol)

(she is tired of you and wants to trade up...lol its been 30+ years; i think she can save herself from Bowser by now... why don't you search another castle and find someone new! lmao)

peach saving Mario for a change is more of a bonus round idea for the first Luigi's mansion and not the others. unfortunately Luigi, King Boo is out for revenge.

Re: Video: Let's Talk About Those Switch 2 Rumours, Then

stevenw45

@larryisaman

I meant a dedicated handheld system. Unless you count the lite version of the system, the Nintendo switch does not count..

I know it has a handheld mode, but I rather keep the unit in its docking station and play the games on the TV.

Can we move onto the possible launch titles? I'm tired of hearing rumors of the hardware specs. Maybe we will see Luigi's mansion 4.

Re: Video: Let's Talk About Those Switch 2 Rumours, Then

stevenw45

@johnvboy

i'm not crossing any fingers (or toes). i know it's a pipe dream, but it could happen. of course then its more likely that Nintendo will get back into stereoscopic 3D, if only for a game or two. of course then they could also try to do something with VR. unfortunately, i can only think of a game or two that would be worth it. other than that probably not.

Re: Video: Let's Talk About Those Switch 2 Rumours, Then

stevenw45

@electrolite77

its a possibility of them making handheld gaming systems again, but the most they can get away with is a smartphone version of the New Nintendo 3DS.

there is an audience for a Nintendo smartphone, unfortunately Nintendo would only allow themselves to create a smartphone edition of the New Nintendo 3DS and due to many reasons they would probably never end up releasing any games for it unless they are tied to the successor of the Nintendo Switch.

as you may or may not remember there were (very) few GameCube and GBA games that had features tying them together. unfortunately those features were really never used.

Re: Video: Let's Talk About Those Switch 2 Rumours, Then

stevenw45

@johnvboy

we know that it has to be more powerful, i highly doubt that Nintendo would try to keep using the same 8880 forever....

but you don't have try try to kill my optimism for me wanting them to go back to having dedicated gaming consoles running along side handheld gaming systems.

for all we know we can end up with the "Nintendo Switch U" or the "New Nintendo Switch".

Re: Video: Let's Talk About Those Switch 2 Rumours, Then

stevenw45

maybe the successor to the Nintendo switch will be a dedicated console with possible backwards compatibility with Wii, Wii U, and GameCube games.

i have a slight dislike towards the hybrid console concept, but partially because i never use it. i liked it better when Nintendo had both portable gaming systems and dedicated gaming systems.

maybe with the Nintendo Switch 2, we might see two base versions of it. the first one being a dedicated console and the other one being a handheld gaming system.

or better yet, maybe Nintendo will bring back the Nintendo 3DS class of devices and give us a smartphone version of the Nintendo 3DS.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Pikmin 4?

stevenw45

the underground caves are nice, but we need more above ground areas. maybe we could get get a DLC of some sort that allows us to play through areas from the previous Pikmin games.

in Pikmin 4 we are trying to rescue so many people; adding the option to explore older areas makes sense.

so far the only thing that i hate about the game is the forced tutorial at the beginning of where you play as Captain Olimar. we only have the need to learn the controls after we create our character and start rescuing everyone.

and where are the onions for the rock and winged Pikmin? at least they brought back purple and white pikmin. the white pikmin also seem to be missing one of their skills.

Re: Who Needs Switch Pro? New Dongle Promises To "Instantly Upgrade Switch To 4K"

stevenw45

i don't even have a 4K TV so 4K output is useless to me.

besides, now adays, some 4K TVs can automatically upscale video to 4K when needed, but its on;y available on larger TVs 4K up-scaling isn't needed on a 32 inch TV. its just not worth it.

having too many pixels on a small screen distorts the image. sometime having a smaller amount of pixels is better, besides our eyes can't even detect all of the colors, pixels and whatnot that are shown on a 4K TV. its just too much information.

Re: Now Parents Are Getting Their Kids To Sue Nintendo Over Joy-Con Drift

stevenw45

if the following is true: "children cannot be bound by the terms of the EULA because of their age", than we may all get screwed over.

for example, i guess that means that children can steal money from their parent's bank accounts and spend it as they please and no one can do a thing about it. where else is the child going to get the money from to file a lawsuit against Nintendo (or some other company), the bank?

Re: Random: Console Modder Makes "Fake Portable GameCube" Mock-Up A Reality

stevenw45

the only issue with the GameCube was that is couldn't play DVDs like the other consoles. Nintendo could have created a DVD player accessory like they did with the GameBoy Player. of course then it was also a bit annoying that a boot disc was required to use the GameBoy Player. its too bad that Nintendo never thought about releasing an updated version of the GameCube with the GameBoy Player software built-into the console.

Re: Video: MVG Takes A Closer Look At Nintendo Switch Online's N64 Update

stevenw45

i only played three games on the N64 on the Nintendo switch online subscription and they are Paper Mario, Mario Kart, and Banjo-Kazooie.

to me, Banjo-Kazooie runs just as it did on the actual hardware with the exception of the save states. the only thing missing from the game right now is wide-screen support. unfortunately the feature may never come to N64 games on the Nintendo Switch Online subscription.

Mario Kart runs almost as i remembered it with the exception that i forgot how gaming mechanics in the Mario Kart games change slightly in every entry into the franchise.

back in the day running into a tree would cause a bad accident or a car crash, now the Karts just bump into them as if they were nothing. an option needs to be added to go back and forth between different styles of how items work and how the Karts respond to different items.

Re: Banjo-Kazooie Is Available Now On Switch Online's Expansion Pack

stevenw45

the save states on the Nintendo Switch are great. it helped me get through the game 45% or more faster than usual. the save states feature helps (a lot).

after playing over 1.5 hours of game play, i found a glitch near the level Mad Monster Mansion. Its similar to the bee glitch near Click Clock Wood, but now we can explore the mansion as a pumpkin.

now Nintendo just needs to release an SP version or two of Banjo-Kazooie; one with an updated note system to match the XBOX version (this can be added as an option in the game through an update for if Nintendo wants), a second one that allows you to start the game with all of the moves from the beginning, and another that allows you to explore Grunty's Lair as any of the transformations that you would like. its not their problem if you (decide to) get stuck at the bottom of a pool of water or something as a Pumpkin, a Washing Machine, or a Termite. (a.k.a. Mumbo's magic doesn't wear off for if you start to get to far away from the level)
