Re: Shadow Of The Ninja - Reborn Is Getting A Demo On Switch

speedracer216

Just played the demo. Very polished. But it's definitely not a remake or reimagining. ----Think of it more like a sequel. --- Lots of new mechanics, different level layouts, and lots of new items! My son is still finding secret moves I didn't realize we're there. Only thing the same is bosses and some enemy types.

Re: Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster Physical Edition Getting Wide Retail Release

@-wc-
I agree on the sound. All the reviews say it's the definitive way to play Final Fantasy 6 because it has real vocals and symphonic sound. Which can be fun in its own right, but to me the 16-bit graphics are perfect marriage with the 16-bit sound of the Super Nintendo. Not to mention the nostalgia. So that I wouldn't actually want it to sound different! I'll stick with my old cart.

@locky-mavo
Exactly. That last horrible trailer with foul-mouthed edgelord monkeys, weirdly sexualized characters, and terrible writing... they can keep it.

As much as I love BG&E, I would rather have no sequel than THAT sequel. Whoever is on the team now has a complete misunderstanding of the source material.

@Tayrailbridge
I buy OST CD's when possible and officially mp3's when possible. It seems easy and I wish nintendo would just upload (for purchase) current soundtracks and old ones (like Star Tropics) in 8bit form that never had official releases. But they don't even do that with all their old games.
I'm afraid of they DID do it, it would be another subscription tier or separate subscription.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Luigi's Mansion 2 HD

speedracer216

The main downside to me is not the lack of new features. The graphical overhaul is nice if not mind blowing. I just didn't like the mission structure. The open exploration of the mansion in the first game, even though some doors or hallways are locked off at first, made it so much more mysterious! The second one was fine, but I'm planning to sell my 3DS copy and not buy the switch version.

Just keep going back to the first one on gamecube!

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

LUIGI was the best part of this. Give me a sequel that is actually the game of his story!!

But on the whole I was underwhelmed. You have to realize it's a Mario game with a certain style of humor. It's not for everyone. I love GameCube and just played the original; beat it earlier this week. I could not stand all the back tracking. In town, in travel, in dungeons, etc. Also how enemies suddenly only give 1xp so leveling is downright out. I found myself skipping all sidequests to just finish. Sounds like that is only partially mitigated, which is too bad.

I didn't think the story was that great, mainly because everyone talks too much but isn't that funny (to me). I love RPG's so I love reading dialogue, but this just isn't my style.

I'm an obvious minority, just saying cuz no one seems to mention this. It's only fun if you like that style of humor. I think the Mario and Luigi series is much funnier.

Now what I DID love - and made it worth finishing -
...the variety in chapters was fun.
...The final dungeon was fantastic and challenging with good puzzles, so it definitely finished strong.
... the Yoshi partner is awesome! His movement and his dialog. I always made sure to finish bosses with him for the cutscenes.
...LUIGI !!!!!! Give us his game!

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Endless Ocean: Luminous

If it's anything like the one on wii, you just have to know what you're getting into. Relaxing and spacious, do a lot or do a little.

My son just bought the one for Wii the other day. He's 12 years old, super high energy, yet loving this exploratory ocean game as a change of pace from tears of the Kingdom

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give 'Princess Peach: Showtime!'?

speedracer216

The movement in the sword section felt so good that it gave me very high hopes. Countering and everything. But then you realize you have so many hearts and most things are one hit kills.. the Slick movement is meaningless. I can close my eyes press forward and a and beat the whole level.

That's what made it a 6 for me. It made me wonder why they made it so easy for when there's so much polish and fun movesets... but nothing rewarding to do with them.

Maybe if we're lucky we'll get Daisy: Dread next.

Re: Talking Point: As A Nintendo Fan, Do You Really Need To Play The Virtual Boy?

speedracer216

HOW TO PLAY: I own it and still play Mario Tennis. It is FAR more comfortable to NOT lean into it, but rather, lay on your back with it propped on your chest resting on your face. Unlocked everything in Mario Tennis and Wario Land that way.

Imho, I would rather play VB Wario Land again before the GBC ones, even though they are awesome too. Sadly I sold it. So maybe that's nostalgia talking.
