Re: Don't Pay Over The Odds For A SNES Classic Mini, Urges Reggie Fils-Aime

speedracer216

if 100 people want it and they make 100..... ebayers buy all of them to get those 100 to pay. It's almost like you have to make double so that the ebayers can only sell half of theirs and return the rest when demand looks low.

it's confusing so i get the problem. but Nintendo has to blame themselves for part of it because they did this, it would seem, on purpose with Amiibo. so everyone gets scared about each new product in case they miss it.

Re: Video: Rayman Legends on Switch is Practically Identical to the Wii U Version

speedracer216

@RyanSilberman

I was honestly shocked by how fantastic it was. So many smiles dawned unexpectedly. So many pause and "you gotta come see this" moments. Akin to DKC:Tropical Freeze or Luigi U.

Only bought it for Wii U because it was clearance. Thought I didn't like Rayman. HAHA turns out I was just plain stupid. Easy to skip if you have it for Wii U, but a great game. Perhaps a NEW Rayman will be hot on its heels...

Re: Feature: The Switch Report - Six Months of Nintendo's Hybrid System

speedracer216

@JaxonH
I admit my play-time with Switch is limited. I still buy games for SNES more than anything. I think that's what I'm still looking for in a console and the world is passing me by.

SNES has no rumble, no internet, no apps, no voice-chat, no DLC, no VR, etc. etc. etc......... but it got every killer game.

I feel like Switch's library at this point is Zelda, ports, spinoffs, and indys. Not that those aren't great and I'm PUMPED that there are so many available... but it will ride or die based on Mario, Metroid, etc.

Still hard for me to accept that Nintendo can't be my "only" system anymore.

Re: Feature: The Switch Report - Six Months of Nintendo's Hybrid System

speedracer216

All the early concerns have gone unfixed.

- Memory limitations are still causing problems.

- Build quality stories have quieted, but weren't really addressed.

- and we're still in the same old "scaled back or skipped" for third party

- no one wants or needs HD rumble. coulda put that money into GB storage or processing or .....

that said, Nintendo always has the positives of

- 1st party

- SNES mini... er.. .well sorta

and... hm...

Re: Celebrate The 30th Anniversary Of Street Fighter With This Pricey SNES Cart

speedracer216

I LOVE the idea of remaking carts and would be tempted if for no other reason than to encourage that practice, especially for rare (Earthbound? Hagane?) or unreleased (Starfox 2?) games to get another chance.

A lot of us still play the original hardware. But $100 for a cart of a game that is readily available for $10 on ebay just because it's "collectors"? This is not what I asked for.

Re: Nicalis Confirms Game Boy-Style Platformer Save me Mr Tako: Tasukete Tako-San For Nintendo Switch

speedracer216

I love retro games. SNES is the one I still collect for. Not as nostalgic for GameBoy..... and I'm all for classic-style games too. So 1-up for this. Just as long as we also get modern stuff too. Though to be honest so much of today's gaming is "Rated M for imMature" where they shoehorn sexuality and violence to make us feel "hardcore"........ that a return to gaming that was fun because it was creative is pretty welcome to me. Couple that with stuff like Metroid Prime 4 and Switch scratches the itch a lot more than other consoles, imho. Though I don't have one

Re: UK Media Outlet The Guardian Aims To Settle The 16-bit Console War Forever

@NerdNoiseRadio
I can tell this is a passion point for you. In fact, do you have a website (i saw your youtube) but I swear I read an article from you a couple years ago (or a series of articles?) on the 16-bit war and tech details of the systems. If that was you, I remember it being easily the best piece I've read/seen on this stuff precisely because it was a straight comparison without the "snes is better!" fluff.

For my part, yes I was joking. SNES is far and away my (subjective) favorite system. That's why I laugh at these "debates" which are actually just opinions. even for NintendoLife to say "finally answered.... by a bunch of people's opinions". lol. Thus my list of top 5 systems was just various ways to say SNES. sorry for grinding your gears, was just being funny (or not). btw, i have a SNES and Genesis hooked to my main tv still.

Re: Soapbox: The SNES Classic Edition Pre-Order Farce Proves Nintendo Hasn't Learned A Thing

speedracer216

I know i'm really late to the convo:
But why can't Nintendo take pre-orders directly BEFORE manufacturing? Then make how ever many people paid for? Doesn't that immediately cut out the scalper because there's no line, everyone can just get one if they want. What am I missing here? scalpers could order 500 and would be wasting time cuz everyone else can already order there 1.

Re: Review: Troll and I (Switch)

speedracer216

i'm guessing the 4 is because...

Voice acting is mostly ok - 1
Game is playable (tech issues, but not broken) - 1
Game has intriguing concept (if not execution) - 1
Pity for a team trying their best and falling short - 1

4/10 but please try again! learn some lessons, take another crack at it!

Re: Poll: 99 Games and Counting - Are You Pleased With the Switch eShop Library?

speedracer216

Seems they're aiming to be a 1st party machine with a penchant for indies.
AAA 3rd parties will pass them by as usual and Nintendo will be the "other console" in most houses. That went well for wii in terms of sales... and shovelware and we missed a lot of the best multi-plat games.

hoping that changes for switch, but in the meantime it seems like the big releases are missing while we get all these smaller e-shop releases.

Re: Random: When Fans Go to the Next Level - Check Out Alex Kidd in Miracle World 2

speedracer216

how is this possible? copyright issues? or not because he's not doing it for profit? I never understand. like it's technically not cool but if the company doesn't say anything then bob's your uncle?

because i LOVE the idea of:
1. games we never got getting new physical releases for their original systems (starfox 2 carts?)
2. new games/sequels for old systems getting carts (rayman for snes?)
3. re-releases of popular games, like a new run of carts (earthbound?)

Re: Hyperkin Reveals HMDI SNES Clone, The Supa RetroN HD

speedracer216

Hardware instead of software emulation huh? So Different than the Retron 5 or Supaboy cuz those are software right?

I'm intrigued by hardware style clones for my Super Famicom carts if it allows translation patches so I can play legit copies of the game.

Wish there was something like a game genie where I could plug a game into my actual Snes through it and apply a patch.
