I went and got the flu and it turned it into a 5-day weekend for me! Instead of the endless grinding of trying to 100% Xenoblade 3 that has consumed my life recently, I decided that as long as I have the TV to myself I'd do something bold and play Metroid Prime Remastered. No regrets!
I would buy this collection if it included Sega CD game. Despite being a HUGE JP fan as a kid/teenager/still, that was the only game I ever actually owned, and although it wasn't... great (though finally finishing the game after a billion tries back in the days of no internet was probably the most satisfying thing ever)... the nostalgia alone would make it worth it. Maybe.
...Because I want to get an extra 3% points at the electronics store. Also I'd might as well wait until my next paycheck. Also also It'll probably go to my kid for Christmas or his birfday. But oh boy I can't wait to eventually play it!
Even without this event, the Seattle aquarium is one of the best I've ever been to, though I might be biased because that's my favorite city in the Americas and I miss living there dearly.
Ahh jeez, one of my students talked about this game today. I bet it's just the start of a deluge. I try SO HARD to tell them that there are lots of amazing games on the eShop that deserve more love, and most of them don't even have the words "Human" "Fall" or "Flat" in the title!
I will totally buy them both as part of a two-in-one pack that costs half the price of either game alone! Now that I put it on the internet it MUST happen, right???
@MooseTinsel Whenever people say "Japan gets the best stuff", I usually interpret it as "Tokyo gets the best stuff". None of the cool stuff that Japan gets ever comes anywhere near the part of the country that I live in.
@Kekshook I would shell out several months' worth of salary to play Realm of Impossibility on my Switch. And then my wife would leave me. Probably not worth it, but yeah, there are a bunch of Commodore 64 games I'd love to play on my Switch but after seeing this I doubt it would ever be within the realm of possibility. Get it?!?!? ...Sorry.
Saturn Bomberman is my favorite game of all time, and I'm still convinced that no Bomberman will ever capture that magic again. Bomberman R was good enough for a Bomberman game, but nowhere close to the 2D classics of old. I still want to give this game the benefit of the doubt at some point, but I'll definitely be waiting for a sale.
@Solomon_Rambling Way back in ancient times when I didn't have an overwhelming backlog on my Switch I was trying to unlock everything in Bomberman R, and I had a pretty good system going. Then I decided to calculate how much time it was going to take me to finish my goal, and it came out to something like 50 hours of playing the same level repeatedly. Needless to say it didn't happen, and I seriously hope R2 isn't designed the same way.
There was a game that I played maybe once or twice in the tiny arcade at the tiny local airport when I was a kid, but I had no idea what it was called and only barely remembered anything about it. Years later I had a friend who worked at a game shop and had a modded Xbox with pretty much every game ever on emulators, and a group of friends and I were just trying out all kinds of random stuff. So I said, "there's this game... with a guy with a whip... and some big monsters... and... uh... they had it at the airport a long time ago". The airport clue was exactly enough for him to say "hey, that's Dark Adventure!", and he immediately booted it up, and... it wasn't quite as good as it was in my memories. But the mystery was solved. Then over the years I forgot about the game again, but the memory of having my friend find it for me turned out to be better anyway. And then yesterday, I found it on the eShop as the newest release as part of the Hamster Arcade Archives! Now I am going to buy it and be slightly disappointed all over again, but at least this time I'll never forget it again.
I had to do a significant culling of my collection before I moved away to another country forever. Part of that was getting rid of my Dreamcast and all its games and accessories, which was... painful. What's weird, though, is that the single game I decided to keep was PenPen TriIcelon. Granted, I loved that game and had a lot of good memories of playing with friends, but I had even better memories of and more love for ChuChu Rocket!, and for some reason didn't keep that one. I'm sorry, ChuChus!
To be fair, this Porkymun is based on the spotted garden eel, which Japanese people (or at least people that work in aquariums or aquatic-themed places) are obsessed with. It's name in Japanese is "chin anago", which literally translates to "penis eel". I mean, they are super cute, but that name is just unfortunate.
Also, I just saw this plush in a crane game the other day and immediately thought to myself how I needed to not have it in my house. Now, thanks to the internet, I know why I thought that.
How cool would it be if, instead of Minecraft randomly showing up in the top 10, it was Metroid Prime and/or Dread? I choose to believe that I live in that universe.
I'm still desperately trying to finish this game, but I'm currently obsessed with "soul hacking" all the named monsters. There's just too much stuff to do!
Also, I got my limited edition soundtrack yesterday! Good thing I have SO MUCH free time to listen to 9 CD's worth of music, a lot of which is probably still spoilery to me!
@mlt Sadly, I'm guessing X won't connect to any of the other games until 4~9 have all be released. It's in the name, afterall!
Pyra/Mythra is my all-around favorite character in the game, and Min Min is easily in my top 10. Every other DLC character for me rates somewhere between "who?" and "I have absolutely no interest in the game that character is from". Okay, fine, Piranha Plant is pretty cool. At any rate, I bought the game and all the DLC and barely played it. Then something like a year later my son started playing the game and I finally got hooked and completed it 100% (as in, there's basically nothing left to do because I got every single spirit to level 99, among other ridiculous feats). But the boy still wants to play it regularly, so yeah... if there were more DLC released I would absolutely buy it, even though there's probably like a 1% chance I'd have any interest in the characters included.
I just posted this in another thing before I saw this thing... but yes, I got them on release day in Japan, though I was sure that doing something dumb like going to work before trying to find them would mean I'd miss out. Then week later I found that they were still in stock, even though they were already marked up to 200% the original price on Amazon Japan.
I had an unusually late day at work on the day Pyra/Mythra were released, but seeing how they were already sold out online, and knowing how quickly Amiibo sell out, I rushed to the big electronics store on my way home and bought a set before getting back on the train and getting home in time to not have to show my wife that I spent ¥4000 on a set of plastic models of ladies with giant swords and giant-er boobies. Then a week later I went back to the same electronics store for some other reason and found that they were still in stock.
I downloaded Fortnite once years ago and deleted it about a year later without every having played it. I love Futurama so much that this ALMOST makes me want to do that again.
This game reminds me a lot of Infini, which is one of my top-5 favorite games on Switch. Basically it sounds like a must-purchase for me, so gasp I might not even wait for a sale!
I haven't made it very far because I'm STILL trying to finish Xenoblade 3 (and then Metroid Prime, and then... well, you get the idea), but so far I love it. What I don't love is the 2-player mode... I bought it for my son so we could play it together like we did with Pikmin 3, but since he won't let me be first player I find it's more entertaining to check the weather on my phone.
I read the title and immediately though "I bet Human Fall Flat is #2!" I guess 17 is still pretty impressive considering how long it's been around. Man... I wish Japanese people were better at finding good games in the eShop.
Ooh! I'll probably buy two of these, be horribly disappointed when they turn out to be the same thing because despite the price you can't see what's in the box, and then refuse to buy any more!
This is one of approximately a billion games on my 3DS that I never finished, which is a shame because despite the stressful control scheme I thought it was pretty awesome. Also because I still carry my 3DS with me semi-regularly but never get around to finishing any of those games.
I've probably complained on Nintendo Life AT LEAST a million times (or... actually maybe more like 5) about how it costs money to get your JoyCons fixed in Japan. Then a couple of months back a friend fixed my old drifty JoyCons. No money for you, Nintendo.co.jp!
I don't care if Mario Kart is the most popular Nintendo racing game; I hate popular opinion! I would actually love to buy Mario Kart 800 or whatever number it's up to now on my Switch, but I only have so much time and money for those expensive 1st party Nintendo games. A new F-Zero game, on the other hand, I would buy with no hesitation.
Oh lord... my 5-year-old recently discovered bath bombs at a 100 Yen store. They're pretty fun, but if you're trying to collect them all that 100 Yen adds up pretty quickly. Then there are the ~500 or so Yen Yoshi bath bombs, which are adorable, but... he doesn't need to collect every color. So yeah, when he inevitably discovers these Pikmin bath bombs I guess I can say goodbye to my retirement fund.
Well crap, now I wish I hadn't gotten my original JoyCons repaired because I don't REALLY need more, but these are beautiful. Though I do wish they had done purple-pink (BEST) or yellow-green (ALSO GOOD) instead.
The first thing that popped into my head when I saw who wrote this article was "Wait, Kate? Great!" But I won't post that comment here because I have standards.
I can't believe I've never seen the European or Japanese versions before. The European one is pretty awesome, but I have a ton of nostalgia for the American version (other than that dumb quote), because it feels closest to the Dreamcast version, which is easily the best.

@Yosher You'd love Japan. People line up for anything "new" or "popular" or "because there's a line of people". They could open a new convenience store and people would line up for hours to get inside, and the start of the line would be in front of the exact same convenience store just a little down the road.
I really like the Euromerican design, but their creepy lizard-like hands are unsettling. On the other hand, the Japanese design is great but I feel like if you touched one of those Yoshis you'd get the worst static shock of your life. Tough choice.
