It's funny because it's poisonous!

I can't believe I've never seen the European or Japanese versions before. The European one is pretty awesome, but I have a ton of nostalgia for the American version (other than that dumb quote), because it feels closest to the Dreamcast version, which is easily the best.

I ran home on To'tK's release day to to sit down play Bo'tW! ...For the first time ever. I bought it like 4~5 years ago and it got lost in the back log, mostly because I knew I'd spend hundreds of hours on it and never finish my other games. So this seemed like as good as a time to finally try it out. I'm only a few hours in, but it's really good! How come no one ever told me before??

I don't consider myself a huge fan of Castloids (man I love that term), but I own like 6 games on this list, have maybe only played 2 or 3, and have something like 10 more on my wish list. Maybe I like them more than I thought. Or I want to like them.

I really like the Euromerican design, but their creepy lizard-like hands are unsettling. On the other hand, the Japanese design is great but I feel like if you touched one of those Yoshis you'd get the worst static shock of your life. Tough choice.

@Cashews If all of these games received 8/10 and were selected by more than one Nintendo Life staff member, calling them "boring to the extreme" seems a little... extreme. "Horribly over-priced", maybe. But probably not all of them. At any rate, I would love to play any of these games, but the backlog has other demands.

Re: Teslagrad 2 And Teslagrad Remastered Bolt Onto Switch Today

It's been a few years since I played the first game on WiiU, but I seem to remember thinking it was an amazing game other than the ridiculously frustrating boss fights. Especially the last boss... I think I tried that thing like 30 times before I finished it, and the game stopped being fun long before that. At any rate, if I hear good things about the sequel I might try to block those bad memories and give it a chance.

Re: Review: Figment 2: Creed Valley - Charming Action Puzzling, But Sluggish On Switch

I just finished this with my 5-year old, and I feel like this review is pretty unfair. Yeah, it stutters at times, but the performance was nowhere near as bad as the review makes it out to be. The game looks and sounds absolutely beautiful, and performance issues didn't affect our enjoyment at all.

Side note: After playing the whole game together, we were at the last boss when my kid said he wanted to go to the bathroom, so we paused it and he went, and then I took my turn, and when I came back the credits were rolling. Oh cool, thanks for waiting, son!

Rabbits are me second-least-favorite animals after horses, but I absolutely love the thoroughness of this article and I might have to bump them up a notch. Now I have to decide what my previously third-least-favorite animal was.

After finishing a chapter on Xenoblade 3, I decided to take a break and play/delete all of the demos and free games on my Switch. During that time my son became obsessed with Smash Brothers, which I never really got around to completing, and then I became obsessed with it. Recently I finished everything in that game 100%, and just last week I finished the thing with the demos. So I finally got around to booting up Xenoblade 3 a few days ago and had no idea what I was doing. No surprise, because my last save data said October 2022. Good job, me!

Re: Talking Point: What's The Best Year In Gaming?

kurtasbestos

Is it even possible to choose? These days, there are so many fantastic games that get released every year, but I can't possibly purchase them all, and I have a hard time playing the ones I do purchase.

That being said, I went with 1997 because a bunch of great games came out on Sega Saturn and back in those days I actually did have the free time to play all of the games I owned.

Re: Talking Point: What Makes A Really Good Demo?

I recently (many months ago) decided to take a break from whatever chapter of Xenoblade 3 I was on to play all the demos I had downloaded so that I clean up my SD card. It was going nicely until I got to Triangle Strategy, which was way too long (side-story: actually my 4-year-old got obsessed with Smash Brothers, which led me to decide to finally get around to playing/completing that game, which took months but man-oh-jeez I absolutely destroyed it and finally got my money's worth for that game). It was interesting... but it's all like "thank goodness that old war ended and everything is peaceful", when obviously something is going to start a new war, but the demo drags on with endless conversations and by the time it ends you don't get to know what actually starts the war, so it almost seems like peacetime will just continue on forever. But mostly, it took a really long time to finish the damn thing, and it was like 80% dialogue. I tried a little bit of the other demo for that game, which focuses more on battles and jumps the story around a little more, and though it's not quite as in-depth as the first one I tried, it seemed like a much more effective demo, if the goal is to convince me to buy the full game.
