Re: How Well Do You Know The Nintendo DS?

kurtasbestos

I thought that would be relatively easy since I own 4 DSsses, but I think the problem is that they're all DSis. DSies? DSiusses? I bet the REAL reason I didn't do all that well in the quiz is because I don't know how to pluralize "DS".

Re: Talking Point: What Would Be The Ideal Way To Play DS Games On 'Switch 2'?

kurtasbestos

I keep having fantasies about a dual-screened Switch 2, because man oh jeez I would love a DSwitch. I don't even care about playing DS games on it. I mean, there are SO MANY DS games that I loved, but I already have enough games to play without replying the old ones, and I would love to have new games in a dual-screen format. If there's some way to play handheld+TV like WiiU, only less annoying... then holy crap I'll buy 11 of them day 1. Or, more realistically, 1 of them on day 11.

Re: Opinion: Chrono Trigger Isn't The Only Great Time-Travel RPG On DS

kurtasbestos

I absolutely loved this game, and still get some of the music stuck in my head from time to time. Then I bought the limited edition on 3DS and never finished it because I was letdown by the various changes they made (we've got a strong female character... let's make her sexy this time!)(no stereoscopic 3D even though it doesn't seem like it would have been hard to implement!)(gacha items!)(it's all in Japanese! ...no wait, that was just me being lazy because I can read Japanese but I'd rather not if I don't have to). At least I got a cool artbook! ...with sexy pictures of the characters that don't fit the near-apocalyptic mood of the game. Still... I'd love to give this game another go and will definitely buy it again the next time it gets remade.

Re: Review: LEGO Horizon Adventures (Switch) - A Beautiful But Basic Build Of Sony's Series

kurtasbestos

My opinion doesn't count because I've never played more than a tiny bit of one of those Star Wars Lego games with a friend, but never owned one, but still... my biggest complain about Lego games is that they feature normal video game polygonal environments with brick-built stuff thrown in. This game is entirely Lego, and despite the mediocre reviews that actually makes me want to play it, especially since I'll never play the real version. Into the wishlist, then!

Re: Review: Super Mario Party Jamboree (Switch) - Only The Best Game In The Series

kurtasbestos

I've never owned a Mario Party game, and the last one I played was... one o' them Game Cube-era games. But my best friend's wife worked on this one so he keeps trying to trick me into buying it (I avoided it with the previous one), and Nintendo Life's review tells me it's time to give in to peer pressure.

@Friendly My kid is 6, and we play all kinds of games together, but the problem is that he cries when he loses. So I let up on him and he's like "play for real!" So I do and he cries when he loses. Kids are dumb. Still, I'm totally going to take my chances with this game! Or take my chances with him, I guess.

Re: Random: A Brand New Game Boy Cartridge Is Launching... From Green Day?

kurtasbestos

Man. Dookie is a classic, so I went to the website and listened to all the samples and I thought it was kind of amazing. I can't imagine a lot of people would be able to get use out of the player piano roll, but I'd love that Minidisc because I still have a player. Or I could just record the album onto a blank MD myself, unless I already did that years ago.

Re: Mini Review: Conduct Together! (Switch) - An Endearing Puzzler That's Fun In Multiplayer

kurtasbestos

I bought this game on sale for something ridiculous like $1 a couple of years back, and found it to be... okay. It was fun, but once I started trying to get the best rank on every level, there were tons of them where I'd have it all figured out but the way the passengers show up randomly combined with the punishing time limits made it incredibly frustrating. But apparently not frustrating enough for me to power my way through and finish the game 100%. More recently, my son booted this game up and then immediately gave up on it, but I noticed that they seem to have added a ton of DLC content. I'm almost tempted to find out more, but... neverending backlog and all.

Re: 36 Longest Switch Games Worth Playing To The End

kurtasbestos

These long, long games are the reason I'm struggling to complete my backlog. Though today I just finished my my 60th game out of 118 on Switch. Next up, should I attempt to finish a bunch of shorter games (that always turn out to be longer than I expected), or put in the final grindy hours needed to finish Xenoblade 3 100%?!?

Re: Nintendo Announces Official Switch Joy-Con Charging Stand

kurtasbestos

Well jeez, I always kinda wanted one of these (but didn't really NEED it), and after looking at the pictures I was like "hay you could use it as a controller!" Then I was like, "wait... why didn't they just put a charging port in the contoller-attachment-thing that came with the system in the first place??? Still, it might be nice to have a 1st party charging option I guess.

@CapitalQ Yeah, I was wondering that, too... if we can use current Joy Cons with the next Switch then releasing this now would make a lot of sense. Sort of.
