It just shows how well Ninty have been doing in UK when this is considered a quiet week - I can still count 8 first party titles in the top 40 and then plenty of other Switch games. This would have been an awesome week in the dark days of the WiiU

It’s odd they aren’t using DLSS upscaling to get it up to 4k on switch 2. Maybe they’ll patch it in later once they’ve had longer with the dev kits.

This certainly boosts Titanic Scion up to near the top of my want list. Hopefully other publishers will follow suit.

@Pat_trick what? This is like paid DLC and a performance boost to boot. They need to recoup the associated costs. No mental gymnastics required.

In an ideal world these could be an additional option not a replacement for the full game on cart.

@Overzeal yeh thanks I understand that. So I have presumed I will still be able to play the game even after the servers have gone offline provided it doesn't need to revalidate every so often with said servers and ofc I still have the download. This is the same for digital. Bearing in mind we can still redownload Wii titles I am not too concerned about suddenly not being able to play or redownload these games in a decade or 2. And provided they don't need to be periodically revalidated they should be good for life IMO even after servers have gone.

@Abrammchi While I'll really don't like the idea of £70/$80 games I'd much rather commit that money upfront for a full and high quality game than a cheaper game designed around money grabbing microtransactions or subscriptions.

@stuie1234 You can never stop people doing this, however if there is adequate supply far fewer people will pay these prices so the scalpers will have to reduce their prices to sell. It's a free market based on supply and demand. Hopefully for once the supply is somewhere near the demand!

Hang on what? Where have you heard this? If you have the game downloaded then you’ll be good to game for decades provided you keep the game key card, even with no internet, is my understanding.

@Abrammchi how did we get where? For context Turok for N64 released at $79.99 in ‘97. Let’s not even talk about the cost of NeoGeo games.

I’m pleased for these guys to have what looks like another hit ready for launch. 5 performance modes - love this!! I’ve enjoyed every Shin’en game I’ve bought and will probs get this near to launch even if I play MKW a lot more - I want these guys to have my money. Just wish Nintendo would hand over the F-Zero keys to this team. With Ninty’s oversight and finances I think they could make an absolute beast of a game.

@HammerKirby Was there any first party N64 expansion pak games with 240p / 480p toggle options? Considering 480p ran like dog most of the time this was a clear performance option in my mind. I remember Perfect Dark and Star Wars Episode 1 Racer had this option but obvs not first party. Otherwise definitely first party Pal GC games had 540i 50Hz or 480i 60Hz options. This could be forced to 480p if you know what you’re doing 60Hz being the way to go. Does that count as performance options?

@Koxen the c-stick is full analogue. It uses the same mechanism as the main stick. Look it up. There are 8 directional groves in the plastic housing sure but these are guides only.

@wiiware would you prefer the pro controller to not be compatible? Surely that would be more of a d><k move?

I’m happy to enjoy DK without wishing it was a new Odyssey certainly looks like the EPD team have poured a lot of love into it. Let’s let the Kong have his moment. I wouldn’t expect a mainline Mario 3D until holiday 2026 at earliest. Perhaps 2026 will see a new 2D Mario title and a new 3D title pushed back to 27. I’m just as excited for Luigi’s Mansion 4 tbh, hopefully a 2026 title.

Imagine you developed an amazing invention that took a lot of time, money and resources to develop. Then just when you think you come to reap your rewards some company has copied your invention and undercut your selling price because they didn’t spend the R&D costs etc. yeh you’d be pissed. Game mechanics count as inventions. Stopping plagiarism doesn’t stop true inspiration. That’s why it’s called inspiration

I’d normally buy a new console at launch with 2-3 big games and then a few indies. This time I’m getting just the one game at launch (MKW) and will wait and save to pick up some others in the autumn, depending on how they review . I can live with that. Global macroeconomics are uncertain and Nintendo need to maintain their profit margins. Let’s remember nearly a third of the world’s population still have no access to the internet and here we are moaning about $10 extra per game

@OwenGamer22 isn’t it a case of putting the new one and re-downloading all ya games? Might take a while but can download them as and when you need them

I said I wasn't going to watch it but I caved and now I'm more pumped than before! Notice that helicopter at the end? I love the photo shoot in front of the original 8 characters on the billboard. Did you notice the giant waves on that night race? Was getting Twilight City vibes! So happy to see a lot of wave race action!!!

I have a TCL QLED and while I’m impressed with the image quality and game master, VRR and ALLM, the OS is sloowwwww. Not that that matters much for gaming.

@Poco_Lypso are you talking about CD Projekt or Nintendo? It sounds like you’re talking about the Zelda Switch 2 optional upgrades for people that already own the games. You’ve paid for Switch 1 games that will still work in Switch 2. You can choose not to buy optional upgrades. I see no problem here. They need a return on the work to make the upgrades.

Also “give us paid upgrade”? Do you mean provide the option to buy an upgrade? We can always vote with our wallets.

@Poco_Lypso I guess it depends on the size of the update. If it's just a tweak to get it running and a slight performance improvement then yes sure making that free could be a good move for the company to promote customer relations and to squeeze out a few more sales. If it's a big performance update to get the best out of the new console then I for one would be happy to pay for it. Something in the region of £10. If they release a new exclusive Switch 2 edition that's been reworked with all new bells and whistles I probably wouldn't double dip but would be happy for those that get to experience an improved version of such a monumental game.

I hope it’s 15 minutes of WaveRace mode - but I’m not going to watch it anyway because I don’t want anymore spoilers.

For those thinking how this might impact sales, the DS did pretty well with download play. Console and Games were obviously much cheaper but still. I wouldn’t want to guess if it’ll hurt sales or not. However I’m hopeful we’ll see this implemented on many games to lessen the blow of how expensive there are.

This is brilliant! Download play is back - sort of - and works with the OG switch. Ingenious move.

@Hank_Scorpio same here. GRID, Alien and also RocketLeague get a lot of play time in my house. Hopefully they’ll get sorted. I’d even be tempted with Switch 2 edition patches for these games to beef up their performance some what. GRID auto sport could do with some love. Great game.

This isn't their first direct sequel console...For example NES--> SNES. GB--> GBA. DS-->3DS are the most obvious ones. Perhaps he is confused because in those cases they went with adjective/prefix (super and 3) and 'advanced' instead of the boring number 2. (Still wish they'd gone for Super Duper Switch instead of Switch 2).

I really hope they flesh this out into a good full game that gains enough traction to sustain an online community for the life of the Switch 2. If only as wheelchair sports get no love and just seeing this game may help to break down some barriers and stigma around para sports in general. I’m surprised this isn’t mentioned much.

@bleeflooflah my thoughts too. This needs more attention. Could be inbox in new messaging system. Although wouldn’t that be in GameChat function? Could it be casting to TV perhaps? Possibly through the dock. Certainly the big rectangle makes me think TV and the curved lines are going towards the TV not away. I would have thought though that if it was casting the curved lines would come from under the TV as if from the console in your hands. Intriguing
