Personally I’m very happy the Fifa license will go elsewhere. Over the years EA’s FIFA had become turgid both in gameplay and new ideas and it only sold gangbusters every year because people wanted that seasons’ player roster and it was “uncool” playing last years game. I’m looking forward to hopefully a talented dev freshening up the game up. Make it more fun! More arcadey!

Woah there! What did I just watch?! I know it’s horse**** but I was grinning the whole way through. Could be fun in the right crowd though (for 10 minutes).

I really enjoyed the first game and thought the DK DLC was excellent also. I was excited when they announced the sequel but I haven’t got round to buying it yet because I have enough to be getting on with and I’m waiting for that mega discount to draw me in. If I wasn’t anticipating the mega discount I probably would have bought it by now.here lies the problem

I enjoy actually playing and appreciating games more than complaining about them. Am I weird?

The thing is I’m exceptionally good at unintentionally killing my Pikmin - which makes me very sad - so these beautiful flowers wouldn’t last long in my house

I remember playing the original PoP back in the day. Tight and hard platforming action. This music doesn’t match PoP - not even close. If this is trying to be a Metroidvania then I’m not convinced by the trailer. Metroidvanias give a sense of loneliness steeped in atmosphere, exploration and discovery. This looks like pumped up platform action with a gloss of PoP paint and incongruous music. Different genres but could still be good.

Until Pikmin 4 is in my switch I won’t believe it’s real. Nope.

@PtM How exactly? 50M for a great game available on multi platforms vs 30M for a great game available on a single platform. Two great games. Awesome sales all round. Is that the context?

I am truly very excited about where the series will go next. BoTW/TotK world is the archetypal Hyrule. Lush green fields etc. I’d love to see a very dark open world next. A bit like Termina was to Ocarina’s Hyrule but darker still. Plus it’ll be on the Super Ultra Dolphin Switch which in itself is exciting although I’m happy with TotK’s performance on switch so far. If someone had told me a decade ago that Zelda was going to be the gold standard for open world games in the near future I would have laughed my head off. Yet here we are!!

The only game I disagree with is TLOU. Because it’s more an interactive story with some gameplay elements. It may be the epitope of interactive entertainment but it’s not really a true game in my opinion. Tetris on the other hand is all game and no fluff - timeless, addictive and (probably) the greatest IMO.

It’s just missing the masterpiece of Superman 64.

@Olliemar28 yes good idea - it gives a better overall picture. A rough count shows 23 of this top 40 were on Switch and the vast majority of them are exclusive titles. This shows the Switch is in some seriously rude health in the UK baby yeah!

Please let me explain why the N64 controller is the best…. Please listen. It has the only stick in which the direction you move your thumb very closely matches the direction the stick moves. And this is because of the placing of the stick on the middle prong. All other controllers you have to move your thumb forwards and left to move the stick forwards. It’s annoying as hell. Especially the ridiculous placement of the sticks on PS controllers where you have to move your thumb left to move the stick forwards (WTF!). To help overcome this problem Nintendo added the octagonal groves on the GC sticks and Wii nunchuck to guide you because your thumb movement doesn’t match the stick direction. But these grooves have been lost from WiiU onwards. Sad face. So for this reason above all else the N64 controller is king. Also it’s much easier to find N64 controllers with decent sticks now as OEM replacement stick parts are available.

I don’t mind switch sales starting to drop off now. Bring on the Switch 2 (aka UltraDolphin).

EU for me. Looks classy. The others look a bit boring.

My kids love Illumination films and we’ll be going back to watch this Mario movie again. I’m happy for Illumination to go ahead and do a sequel, or a DK or Luigi’s Mansion movie for sure. Illumination are great at making films that kids want to watch which is fine by me. Seeing the look on my daughters’ faces during the entirety of the film is what it’s all about for me. They loved it so I loved it. Please stop bashing Illumination!

I have reclassified this game as a Free-to-not-buy game. It’s a new category reserved for “physical” games with shady practices.

I’ve been on a Zelda blackout for months now so I’m gonna let this drift by…. I want to experience the game all by myself by ya know actually playing the game.

I’m impatiently waiting for the new console. Super Ultra Dolphin Switch or whatever.

Tbh honest F-Zero is a masterpiece and still looks stunning to this day (force 480p with Swiss baby and mClassic that ****) so it doesn’t really need a 10/10 remaster. Eternal Darkness could do with the 10/10 remaster treatment with a few tweaks and quality of life improvements.

Eternal Darkness - the game I’ve replayed the most. F-Zero GX the second greatest racing game (behind WaveRace 64 obvs)

But what happens at the end when there’s that funny noise and Mario rises up and then he just reappears in the tunnel with the mushroom?! What?! That’s surely cheating, my brain hurts now

I’ve just tried the original Smash on an overclocked N64 with delta-islands CPU mod. It’s sped up and Jezzzus it’s awesome!! Just need some friends to play it with now…

@N-MCMXCIX NSO games aren’t cloud games. You can play them offline. They are emulations.

@Midna totally agree!! Let’s have a few neglected IPs given some love for the fans. They don’t need to sell tens of millions. 1-2million sales can surely make it profitable while appeasing the long time fans. F-Zero would be a fairly safe bet surely Nintendo? Personally I’d like to see WaveRace. Make it happen please!!

How has it come to to this? How?! Why?! Unfortunately I can’t see Sidebar Games ever recovering from this shambles. I still haven’t started my copy of the game. I’m waiting for some major updates that improve the story progression/cohesion. I’m fearful to start atm

Beautiful. Am I more excited for this, my physical copy of MP remastered or TotK? I just can’t decide. What a year and it’s barely started

@electrolite77 the console’s RGB output is really good so if you’ve got a TV that can accept RGB over scart you’re good to go.

This is cool but you know there’s this awesome machine that plays Gamecube games. You can pick one one up really cheap around ~£25-35 on eBay. It’s called a Gamecube. Add the picoboot mod if you really need to live on the edge and you’re set for life. Perfect

@theModestMouse I know surely it’s a 10 right?! Such a masterpiece of gaming that showed the way for FPS on consoles and how to do couch multiplayer like never before.

@EarthboundBenjy indeed they are. However there are some good OEM replacement parts now for the parts that wear out and they can recreate the original tight feeling. Stick gears, stick bowl and the stick itself. The guy at Console Refresh has great refurbed controllers.

Will buy. Enjoyed Gunman Clive on 3DS so this is an easy buy. Don’t care if it looks a little generic I want to support the devs.

@jrt87 I’d say actually the Switch’s huge library of quality games is very appealing and The average consumer won’t care about the specs when they see Splatoon, Animal Crossing etc in HD glory. we’d all like the switch to have some more grunt under the hood but right now that’s not stopping the juggernaut. I wouldn’t say the appeal is lessening but rather it’s transcended to mainstream appeal. Also its USP IMO is not as simple as being a portable device / hybrid. It’s USP is being able to play quality family friendly titles on a portable / hybrid device. The perfect marriage for mainstream success.

I’m happy to wait for the Switch’s successor. I’m not calling it switch 2 just in case Ninty go rogue and release some left field device that leaves behind the hybrid design. I hope not but this company is as mad as they are genius.
