Sorry to inform everyone but the Nintendo hierarchy are kindly waiting for me to finish my backlog before launching the Switch 2. Please be patient. My backlog is disgusting.

Jesus I was taken by surprise with this Partner Showcase. I want nearly half of the games announced!! With this one being top of the pile with World of Goo 2 and Endless Ocean

I have zero expectation for anything that I’ll be interested in. I hope I’m wrong.
EDIT actually a Cadence of Hyrule sequel would get me excited.

Pre ordered the full version with the pin, notebook and bag from the Nintendo store for my self - can't wait!
And yes of course I'm going to let my daughters play!

I want MP4 to be a Switch 2 exclusive launch title. None of this cross gen stuff. I want to be blown away. Some more shiny remasters this year to add to my backlog will suffice.

I love a good stretch too. It’s great for me aging back. But I feel you’ve stretched too far this time.

My two girls are really excited about this game now after seeing Mermaid Peach and it has nothing to do with how much leg is on display. And I can’t wait to play with them which also has nothing to do with how much leg is on display.

I was waiting for the inevitable blue shell at the end and Metroid Prime remastered to come steaming through from last but alas missed opportunity.

I’m predicting a Princess Peach Nintendo Direct or a mini Direct in Feb with no new console reveal. Then in Summer an announcement for the new console with the official Switch 2 trailer (direct) in autumn for release spring 2015.

I wish I could temporarily forget all 3D games and go through the 2D to 3D transition again. Oh my, I doubt any leap forward in gaming will ever coming close to that sense of amazement for me.

People are going to be so shocked if they do their usual and release something out of left field no one saw it coming. Perhaps a portable console the size of a couple credit cards stuck together that sits in your wallet and transmits to mixed reality glasses. I so hope they stick to the Switch idea and beef up the specs

Does this point towards new hardware being released Spring next year? Free up server space for launch title Metroid MMO? Where we are all bounty hunters trying to hunt down Samus.

If Nintendo wants the Super Switch to sell gangbusters and it has the same form factor and USP as the original then BC is essential IMO. If BC isn’t included the first year of console sales will likely be slow especially if they don’t release new genre defining games like BoTW was for the Switch. Metroid Prime will sell no doubt but it’s unlikely to sell as much as Zelda/Mario/Pokémon etc. Having said that we have no idea what they’ve got up their sleeve. Their next device may not be BC because the games are beamed directly into our brains - we have no idea. I jest but you get my point.

I wonder if they tried the 3DS games on switch with VR labo. They could have released a 3D collection. Anyway I remember playing LM2 / dark moon every night for a few weeks and thinking how polished the game is. I really enjoyed the humour and thought the 3D effect was great. Shame stereoscopic 3D gaming has died

@sanderev exactly this. The 3DS game looks great on the actual 3DS screen. In this blown up comparison video obviously it’s not going to look so good

@larryisaman but the switch in docked mode isn’t the same as a portable console outputting to TV.

@Piyo the missus asked me to dust the front room the other day so I picked up my xbox and held it in my hands as I moved around the house. It really makes a good hand held portable dust catcher. You should try it.

BTW only one other person has mentioned Wave Race. Unacceptable behaviour! We need more Wave Race

Great game great game Great game. Timing the boost takes a bit of practice but once you nail it it’s awesome

Umm what? Playing the original game - warts and all - on a 50inch HD TV is not how is was originally intended. Stick it on a 20inch 4:3 CRT and it looks so so much better.

Switch 2 doesn't need to innovate for the sake of it. However we all know Ninty will likely do something totally left field.
IMO Super Switch: More powerful without affecting current battery life. Backwards compatible which includes pro controllers and possibly even original JCs as well. Improved new JC design. NSO titles carry over. Make it Indigo. Done. 200 million sold over the next 6-8 years. Oh and don’t forget the amazing software of course but that’s a given.

I hope they take the same specs as the PS5 and squeeze it into a Switch sized portable device with a 4k screen and infinite battery power.

@Cashews I think I am butt hurt that they haven’t updated one of their many great racing IPs for a decade or so now. WaveRace, F-zero, DKR, 1080, ExciteTruck/Bike, Pilotwings etc.

@Otoemetry yes that’s why the first new isn’t capitalised. I was simply making a reference that it looks quite similar to the old New.

Nintendo have done unbelievably well getting their big IPs back to the top of the gaming world. However I really hope the house of waluigi appreciates that without the more niche titles like Pikmin those big IPs and their gaming portfolio can very quickly go stale. For example if the new New Super Mario bros is too similar to the old New Super Mario bros this could start a downward trend of same old same old and people starting to ignore Ninty titles again.

They’ve done really well diversifying their overall exposure with the Mario Movie, theme parks etc but they need to diversify their gaming catalogue again and strike while the iron is hot.

TLDR bring back Wave Race already!

Every day kids are growing up and getting into gaming. It’s an endless supply of potential buyers.

In 2021, 694,685 new babies were born in the UK, so I think it’s safe to say well over half a million kids have come into this world in the UK every year over the last few decades. That means there’s a lot of new brains awakening to some form of entertainment every year.
I think it’s also safe to say Ninty does amazingly well at reaching a high percentage of those fresh brains.

I secretly want the sales to start dropping off now to entice Ninty to release the SuperUltraDolphinSwitch.

@EvilSilentFrame I’m totally with you. Pikmin 1 was so pure with isolation, discovery and survival against the clock being the main themes. I’ve really enjoyed the P4 demo and can’t wait to play the full game but I do wish it had more of that sense of isolation.

I thought the first one was:

Find me a massive game like TotK which isn’t grindy at times when you are rushing to 100% completion. After years of gaming frustration I’ve learnt to enjoy games organically at my own pace - it is my precious spare time after all - rather than constantly feeling like I’ve got to 100% everything as quickly as possible. Back in N64 days I was trying to 100% every game (good game) that was released for the system. Imagined trying to do that now?!

How dare you make me choose between my children. I love them all equally yes even the mushroom Pikmin.

Countering scalpers is easy in theory. Make more units so that they are always available through official channels then scalpers will have no demand, lower their prices and eventually move on to something else.

I’m all for time pressure! Pikmin 1 time pressure gave it an edge. Although it was an easy game so the time never really came into it but at the start it certainly got me thinking about efficiency and multitasking. More time pressure please!
