Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Donkey Kong Country Returns HD?

WheresWaveRace

@speedracer216 you didn’t have to blow. The Wii remote doesn’t have a mic. You pressed crouch and shook controller to make DK drop and blow. Yes the shaking controller was a bit different and not everyone’s taste. I concentrated on getting good at a firm quick shake and beating this rock hard as nails awesome game. Unless are you referring to 3DS version? That would make sense

@1UP-HUSKY it’s more to gauge the initial reaction than flame some console wars isn’t it? How else can we gauge the reaction of the general public who don’t have a moaning YouTube channel? I was only explaining to my nephew yesterday that consoles are utterly ridiculous. The gaming industry needs Nintendo and dare I say it Nintendo needs healthy competition to keep them innovating.

Re: Poll: What Do You Think Of Donkey Kong's Redesign In Mario Kart 9?

WheresWaveRace

@Smithicus I think it’s more likely 8Deluxe was internally referenced as the 9th mainline console game which means next up could be 10. But what about Live Circuit I hear you say? Yes indeed. And the arcade versions? Oh now, it’s getting messy. Whatever, they are finally getting ready to lift the lid on a new console version! Whoop!

Re: So, Have You Pre-Ordered Donkey Kong Country Returns HD For Switch?

WheresWaveRace

@Qwiff this is easily just as good as Tropical Freeze. While I’ll hand it to you that LM3 is objectively better in most ways than LM2 and I understand not wanting to buy LM2 port this is different. (Id recommend playing LM2 on 3DS anyway for the 3D effect). But DKR is one of my favourite games from the Wii era and is every bit as good as TF. Unless they bodged this HD port ofc.

Re: So, Have You Pre-Ordered Donkey Kong Country Returns HD For Switch?

@DiamondJim I’m not rebuying it - I have the Wii original and loved the hell out of it back in the day but don’t feel the need to buy it again. My view is this release is mainly for the people that haven’t played it before to get to enjoy a brilliant game. My nephew wasn’t even alive when the 3DS version (!) was released and he’s getting it (I insisted as obviously I wanna pop round and show him how to DK properly).

Re: Genki Claims The 'Switch 2' Joy-Con Can Be Removed By 'Brute Force'

WheresWaveRace

So you’ll telling me the force of someone’s thumb press is enough to prise apart but with the whole hand you need to brute force it off? Something smells.

Edit: while I understand grip strength can be very strong this is Nintendo, they would design it so that kids will be able to disconnect the JC without the thumb press strength of an adult.

Re: Nintendo Switch 2: Everything We Know About Nintendo's Next Console

@Euler I agree they are more likely to go with a creative name more representative of whatever the new thing is about the next version that they want to emphasise. I just think if they choose to go with a numbered entry again I think they’ll consider it to be the 10th or even 11th version of MK when you add MKTour into the mix. IIRC they went with using 7 as it’s considered a lucky number in many places around the world and 8 as it makes a figure of 8 track. If there’s an extreme element perhaps MKXtreme! Who knows. I sure hope it looks and feels different to 8D.
