Re: Mario & Luigi: Brothership Was Rated Well Ahead Of Its Release

WheresWaveRace

Pure speculation but possibly when they submitted for the rating they were hoping to have Switch 2 ready for this holiday season and this game would have been a summer send off. Then delayed M&L release to fill some of void left by pushing the SuperDooperSwitch back to 2025.

Edit: and I really want the console to be called the superdooperswitch now that I’ve said it.

Re: Japanese Charts: Mario & Luigi Sail Past The Competition

WheresWaveRace

@roboshort good point. With the financial aspects considered why have Sony opted to make an expensive and likely to be quite niche product that’ll piss off and confuse the customer base. The PS1 and 2 sold gangbusters because they were good value first and foremost. IMO Sony have lost the plot.

@Serialsid thanks for the info. If sales do drop off to a few thousand next week as most expect the pro model really isn’t going to grow the user base that much and surely it’ll piss off those that have recently invested in a standard PS5. Not sure the (niche selling) PS5 pro is a smart move. Anyway I certainly won’t be getting one. Saving my pennies for the super switch.

Re: It's Official, 'Switch 2' Will Be Backwards Compatible

WheresWaveRace

Amazing news. Expected but still amazing. Now let’s hope for some performance patches for existing Switch games that boost performance. Guess this will be up to the devs if it’s indeed possible unless Ninty has done some performance magic that works on all Switch games. However Can only see that being a post processing up res effect maybe via DLSS. Improving frame rates would surely need the code reworked through patches.

Re: Masahiro Sakurai Confirms He's Working On A New Game

WheresWaveRace

Smash could do with a longer rest til the next game otherwise it will go stale. If some switch OG games inc smash get a boost in performance / DLSS up to 4k on Switch 2 maybe the next mainline Smash can launch the switch 3. There’ll be an huge appetite then. I’m hoping this new game is something totally new. And I’m hoping he’s given the space, freedom and time to perfect it to match his vision. The guy is a living legend.

Re: Random: Nintendo's Museum Might Be Emulating SNES Games On Windows PC

WheresWaveRace

I once spent £50 on a game that cost hundreds of thousands to develop and distribute so I can do whatever I like with the game ad infinitum because it’s my game right. But holy mackerel the nerve of the actual developers doing what they like with their own IP that’s not allowed!! Jesus effing C- (throws toys and kitchen sink out of pram).

Re: Zelda: Echoes Of Wisdom's Overworld Appears To Include Links To The Past

WheresWaveRace

@batmanbud2 what? The surface landscape is totally ripped up with so many new features like caves, wells etc. then there’s a whole new massive map in the depths with insane verticality. And then the sky islands to boot (again insane verticality). BoTW’s map was pretty much 2D. Therefore once you add that up, ToTK’s map is nearly x3 the size and tbh is actually quite daunting.

Re: Random: The Latest 'Switch 2' Rumour? Scroll Wheel Shoulder Buttons

WheresWaveRace

@BiscuitCrumbsInMyBed I so hope this is true. I want the QoL sensor to dictate what smells are released. For example the smell of Camomile and Lavender to help me relax during RE4Rmake (or should it be the rancid smell of rotting flesh?). Some delicious cooking smells like frying bacon during Cooking Mama. The smell of salty sea air while cruising round Marina Bay in WaveRace4. The smell of freshly cut grass in Zelda. Actually the more I think about this the more I want it!

Re: Californian Law Dictates Storefronts Be Honest About Digital Game Ownership

WheresWaveRace

@Tempestryke yes that’s my exactly point. When download servers go off line downloaded games should and will remain playable forever (provided the game can be played offline of course). People seem to be in a right state thinking buying a game digitally means you can only play it while the game is available to download. Which is utter nonsense for most downloadable games.

Re: Californian Law Dictates Storefronts Be Honest About Digital Game Ownership

WheresWaveRace

I don’t understand the uproar here. With digital downloads you own the storage media containing the downloaded data that makes up the game you have a licence to play. Which is basically the same as owning an official cartridge containing the game data that you have a licence to play. And as long as you can play the game offline you should always be able to play the game. Live service games are the problem but that’s the same whether the base game is digital or physical. This clarification is to make sure the storefronts correctly reflect the copyright licensing law. Nothing really has changed. It’s always been you buy a licence to play the game. Same with music heck even books!!

Re: Rumour: Supposed 'Switch 2' Design Photos And Specs Surface Online

WheresWaveRace

@Jalex_64 thanks that’s good info. I’m hoping for a DS to 3DS style transition where the form factor is fairly similar (but not essential), it’s obviously more powerful and has that wow factor. I’m not suggesting they put in a stereoscopic screen but that was the wow factor of the 3DS. What is going to be the wow factor this time? Rumoured Second screen? although I’d love to see it, it’s not going to bring the same wow.
