Re: Poll: What's Your Favourite 3DS Model?

WheresWaveRace

I remember at one point I was cycling between playing Luigi's Mansion 2, RER and SML3D with the 3D cranked to the max ofc and a sprinkling of Metroid Fusion through B/C as well and thinking what a great rotation of games on such a great console. Happy times. Isn't funny how video games can make us feel. Love love love the 3DS.

Re: UK Charts: Mario Tennis Fever Serves Up A Decent Debut

WheresWaveRace

What I’m impressed with here is that most multiplatorm games in the charts are selling well on S2 despite its far smaller install base and weaker specs compared to PS5. Reanimal selling 18% - for a demanding modern game - is encouraging in my view. Dragon Quest 38% - nice. Split fiction 33%. Add to this the success of the first party titles and I think this is a great start in UK and will only get better when some big hitters come. These numbers show there are plenty S2 consoles out in the wild in UK and a thirst for multiplatform games. All this talk of consoles not selling in UK… I’’m not so sure. Numbers look good to me.

Re: Video: Pragmata Demo Side-By-Side Graphics Comparison (Switch 2, Xbox Series S, PS5)

WheresWaveRace

@Mattlong78 I’m sort of the same as you but lots of people like these detailed comparisons and analyses so I’m happy they exist. I do get sucked in sometimes and have to pull myself out and think how far games have come. I was there at the start. Ultimately all the technological wizardry means nothing unless the game is fun. And this Demo is fun so … nailed on purchase I think.

Re: Nintendo Showcases Every Switch And Switch 2 Partner Direct Game In New Infographic

WheresWaveRace

@AppleBlade you make a good point. Difference is the S2 is selling -even without some massive system sellers- and some people will no doubt pick up the odd third party port they may have missed on PS5/xbox. I think the third party support has made a good start on S2. Problem with WiiU was third party games didn’t sell so support dried up rapidly. Hopefully these games on Switch 2 will sell and keep the momentum going. I’m doing my part.

Re: Turok Is Back, And It's Bringing The Hunt To Switch 2 Later This Year

WheresWaveRace

@ToniK I hope this is good. The original (£70!!) 1997 game holds a special place in my heart. It was part adventure with light puzzle elements, part FPS and part horror. Yes that fog! What’s beyond that fog? A bloody T-Rex! Holy moly, I’ve only got a bow and arrow and a pretty useless pistol with limited ammo. Ok maybe I’m overplaying the horror part but being chased by a raptor in 3D coming from 2D gaming was unbelievably special back in the day. I really hope this is good!

Re: Metroid Prime 4 & Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment Sales Get Off To A Slow Start

WheresWaveRace

@AlanShore I see where you’re coming from with the price but that’s quite a claim that only Nintendo-only players enjoyed MP4 with zero to back it up. MP4 is very well polished and in my experience, enjoyable game. Not a buggy mess like a lot of the more ambitious and supposedly high quality titles I’ve played elsewhere. Yes I’m a PS5 and Switch gamer that liked MP4.

Re: Upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 Games & Accessories For February & March 2026

WheresWaveRace

My last day 1 RE purchase was RE4 on GC which blew my mind. So absolutely pumped for RE9 and will pick up 7&8 as well at some point. Although it’ll be digital for me. None of this GKC nonsense.

Edit: having said that the generations pack is so cheap. I didn’t realise it was all three titles! Thought it was just 7&8. Holy mackerel that’s good value.

Re: Switch 2 Sales Reportedly Struggled Over The Christmas Period

WheresWaveRace

My view is as they front loaded the sales a slight drop off was somewhat inevitable plus with macroeconomic headwinds etc I’m not in any way surprised sales might have slowed. But still it is the fastest selling console of ALL TIME. Personally I’ve been more than happy with the game selection so far with - presumably - some big hitters in the works (3D Mario, Pokémon etc) to get the juices really flowing. Also with games like RE9 coming same day as other consoles the future for strong third party support is (fairly) bright. I’m a happy customer and I’m looking forward to 2026. The cherry would be a new WAVE RACE!

Re: UK Charts: Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Clings To The Top 40

WheresWaveRace

Finished MP4 this weekend and enjoyed every second. Plus as it's not a long game I am already looking forward to re-running on hard. And I must say I think the hate towards the game is overblown. I so hope MP5 has been greenlit. I can see Retro building on what they've tried to achieve in MP4 but nailing the format next time with some more open elements yet retaining the classic Metroid immersion, exploration and interconnected world.

Re: Poll: So, Now The Dust Has Settled, How Did You Find Myles MacKenzie?

WheresWaveRace

Meh, hardly annoying at all. Also you can turn off tutorials which takes away some of the hand holding - but not Myles on the Radio it must be said. The game is not trying to be MP1, it’s a little different and I like the intention. I do wish the biomes were interconnected and the desert area a little more imaginative but apart from that it’s a very enjoyable and beautiful game in my opinion. 88/100

Re: GRID Legends: Deluxe Edition Is Racing Onto Switch 2 In Early 2026

WheresWaveRace

@Danrenfroe2016 depends on the car. I have burnout paradise as well and the difference in handling between the cars in Burnout is pretty minimal - arcade racing. GRID autosport is much more authentic in terms of handling which varies massively from car to car and is as close to a driver sim as we’ve got on Switch. Can tweak the car set ups to suit your style etc. It’s a driver’s dream and hits a lovely 60FPS in performance mode. I just wish the online didn’t die so soon after launch.
