Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (27th December)

TYRANACLES

Today I beat Metroid Prime 4 and I enjoyed the final battle pretty well. One annoying but I had with the game was one area in the fire realm i couldn’t find a way to return to it after the boss battle there. I couldn’t get the good ending because I missed an item there so I was a bit bummed about that but I had a good time with the game, I do wish some things had been done a bit differently but it was worth the time and I’m glad we got another game in the series.

Now I’m starting a play thru of fire emblem engage. I’m having fun in the battles but I could do without the story.

Re: Review: The Rogue Prince Of Persia (Switch 2) - A Worthy, Approachable Follow-Up To Dead Cells

TYRANACLES

I do love prince of Persia games but I’m a bit fatigued on this genre. I tried it on gamepass and had a decent time with it. Maybe I’ll pick it up someday but I can wait on this one. I already have Dunjungle preordered to play and have yet to try Hades 2 or Absolum, so those will keep me busy. The Lost Crown was a masterpiece. I beat it recently and I really hope Ubisoft continue off of that game with something.

Re: Talking Point: Does It Bother You That Big Games Companies Are Using GenAI?

TYRANACLES

Yes I have a major problem with it. I feel like we are slowly being conditioned into being like cattle who can’t even think for ourselves. If this continues I think youll see more and more people lose their jobs/identity/ and everything that makes each person unique. All could be lost for the sake of making it easier and more efficient to churn out whatever muck is on the menu that week.

Re: Feature: Games Of The Year 2025 - Nintendo Life Staff Picks

TYRANACLES

It’s pretty cliche but Donkey Kong and Metroid are my two favorites of the bunch here. DK I’d say was my game of the year but I’ve enjoyed a good number of titles. Prime 4 is really good as I’m a good bit into it now but I had very high standards for this one. I don’t like it as much as 1 or 3 for sure but I like it better than echoes so far. Mario Kart world was very similar to Metroid for me, good but it pales even more for me from the last two games. Marvel cosmic invasion was great fun and I’d like to return to it one day but I blasted right thru it quickly, unlocking almost everything. Fantasy life I was also a very decent suprise for me since I’ve never played the previous one, I really should return to it.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (20th December)

TYRANACLES

I’ve played Fzero 99 quite a bit, I haven’t played it in sometime but it’s been great to revisit. Prime 4 I’ve made some more progress on. I’ve got the third key now. It’s been decent but I can see why some are disappointed in it. It’s just a little too confined in some of the zones and then the traveling thru the desert section is pretty forgettable. I love the concept of Samus on a space hog but this could use a bit of work if they ever revisit that idea. I also finally cracked open Rune Factory Guardians of Azuma. This is my first game in the series but I’ve liked it pretty well so far, it does seem a little in the easy side even in the hard setting, and farming seems really streamlined. I love the setting tho, it reminds me of okami.

Re: Best Nintendo Switch Marvel Games

TYRANACLES

I’d say marvel ultimate alliance is my favorite of the bunch here, tho I’m suprised not more have chimed in on cosmic invasion as their favorite. It’s very good also but has a shorter play time. I really would like to see another ultimate alliance one day. I’d like to see them make one without some of the frustrating parts like the jumping thru laser beams sections.

Re: Video: LEGO Batman: Legacy Of The Dark Knight 'Official Heroes & Villains Trailer'

TYRANACLES

This looks like a mix of the rocksteady arkham games with hopefully a big open world Gotham city to explore like the first marvel game and all the films rolled into it. I’m definitely always excited for more Batman. I’d like to see Lego go for some other licenses tho just for something new. Lego Ghostbusters, Goonies, Looney Toons, TMNT, a solo Spider-Man outing would all be cool.

Re: Japanese Charts: Sorry Samus, Octopath Is The Best-Selling New Release This Week

TYRANACLES

Well that’s about right for Japan and Metroid, it’s never been a major player over there. It’s doing decent in the west from what I gather. I started it this week but I’m still very early on, I just got certified to ride the bike. I’m having a good time with it so far. I will say for a prime game I would’ve hoped we were at a grander scale by this gen, definitely not a bloated and empty open world, but this one does feel a bit confined in places besides that vast lonely desert. That really could be my biggest gripe, but so far I’m happy with it and I just hope we get more from this series but also the 2d games should have their place to.

As for now I rank them Prime 1,3,4,2.

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's N64 Library With Two Classic Platformers

TYRANACLES

@Suketoudara is love that but they also need to bring the mystical ninja from snes on over. I really love that game.

I wonder if we will ever see the turbografx and cd system on here considering we got that on the Wii VC. Having all those great shooters, a couple of good pinball games, an addictive RTS, and my favorite Adventure Island and classic Castlevania would make it a worth addition.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Metroid Prime 4: Beyond?

TYRANACLES

Well my copy is set to arrive today so I haven’t tried this out just yet but I’ve loved the prime games of old for the most part, echoes was good but I didn’t love it. I will say the hand holding and linearity could be an issue with me but I’ll just have to see for myself. I did really like fusion after all, it was linear but being a 2d gba game it was snappy and just a joy to explore through the different environments.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (29th November)

TYRANACLES

I beat the campaign of Hyrule Warriors AOC a few days ago so I’ve mopped up most of the side quests but now I’m at a place where I can only farm for materials to get any further. I put it down and went ahead and started the latest release Imprisoning War. I love what I’ve played of it so far, the mechanics have gotten deeper and it runs much smoother. The one thing I feel I’m going to miss is the amount of side content that opens up on the map as you move along. I’m still early into it but so far it seems skimpier in that department. My daughter will join me on a battle or two I’m sure and maybe I’ll sprinkle in some Overwatch.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Kirby Air Riders?

TYRANACLES

@Medic_alert your comment is kindve how I’m leaning on this one. I’ll try it out some more but I’ve played thru the story mode once so far and I’m liking this games presentation but the core gameplay I’m lukewarm to it. It’s a bit chaotic at times and I feel like I’m out of control at times similar to how I’ve felt in some of the Sonic games at top speed. I never tried Air riders back in the GC but I think I like Kirby’s adventuring games much better.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (22nd November)

TYRANACLES

@Zuljaras you are missing the essential Game Genie in your photo there…how on Earth did you beat Spider-Man without one??

I beat ninja gaiden 4 during the week so now I’m playing bits of mystery heroes on Overwatch and Kirby air riders is staring at me in the shelf still in the plastic I may give it a spin as well.

Re: Nintendo Download: 20th November (North America)

TYRANACLES

I have Rtype, Kirby, and Bubble Bobble sugar dungeons preordered. If Tomb Taider definitive edition gets a physical release I’d happily get that as it’s a classic. I will be preordering Neon Inferno next week. For anyone who hasn’t checked this game out, I highly suggest looking into it. It’s one part side scrolling contra-like shooter and another part gallery shooter like Wild Guns. It looks fantastic.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (15th November)

TYRANACLES

Today I wrapped up prince of Persia and the forgotten crown and what a great time that was. I may go back to this one if I ever pick up the dlc. Also I played through three more chapters in ninja gaiden 4 and a little time was spent with wobbly life with my daughter, I get a sense of simpsons hit and run with that one every time I take my pastel colored car and careen off a bank into a fire hydrant.

Re: Digital Foundry Covers The "Disappointing Tech" In Pokémon Legends: Z-A

TYRANACLES

Performance and graphics had nothing to do with me not purchasing this one. This Pokémon actually has a problem for me that none have quite had before but it’s that it feels so confined. I just don’t like the idea of hunting Pokémon only in this town. It kindve sucks the wind out of the sails for me keying back on the exploration into a big open and wild world. They could’ve kept the Pokémon hunting in the city and still had the wilderness surrounding it. I’ll still get this tho if they bring out some substantial dlc addressing this and of course in a proper physical release, like they did with sword/shield or Scarlett/violet.

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (6th November)

TYRANACLES

I’m all over the place right now. I’m primarily playing a few games on gamepass right now so this weekend it could be any one or two of these. Ninja gaiden 4 I’m still working thru. I like this game pretty well despite all the gore. It’s a challenge and action packed. Prince of Persia sands of time has been my favor of the games I’m playing on the service this round. I’ll most likely play on this one some more. Such a good quality game that I do already own physically on switch. Nine sols I’ve just started and I’m conflicted about it. I see a very good quality game here with interesting characters and story, but the combat is pretty tough where you take damage parrying but you want to do that to build up your meter to release a powerful attack. I’ve barely started that one but I am intrigued. Steamworld build is a fun city builder that is quite simple and easy to get the grips of, can steamworld do no wrong? Besides whichever gamepass game(s) I continue, this one I own, but wobbly life with my daughter has been a hit. We played on this sometime ago and completed most of the main game only to return to it after seeing it had updated to find the new space expansion. It’s been wonderful with so much to do. It’s a fun goofy little game full of exploration and keeps us laughing so I’ve been thankful for that.

The most interesting part of my weekend tho will be the new puppy we are going to suprise my daughter with. She wanted one forever and we’ve tried fish and a giga pet which she has handled both with such great care we decided it’s time for a pup. It’s her birthday and she doesn’t suspect a thing as we’ve been hiding it at friends and families homes for weeks and that has caused a bit of a problem as everyone is becoming attached but they know how much this means for her. I cannot wait to see her reaction to the puppy coming in late to the party in a present after we wind down.

Re: Upcoming Nintendo Switch 2 Games & Accessories For November & December 2025

TYRANACLES

@mlt those were terrible. I still want to go back and play thru origins because I love the setting in Egypt but those segments really screeched my progression to a halt. Odyssey doesn’t have those and I had a fantastic time with it, it’s a very long game tho. Valhalla I tried but put down pretty quickly for some reason. Both of those don’t have the present day segments so maybe this one won’t as well.

There’s plenty here I’m looking forward to. Metroid, Kirby air riders, Hyrule Warriors, Terminator, hades 2, octopath 0, Yooka, and mortal kombat, double dragon are all preordered. I’ve also got the good old days preordered that’s not out yet for this month and cosmic invasion I will definitely get whenever it’s available.

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Animal Crossing: New Horizons - Nintendo Switch 2 Edition?

TYRANACLES

I’m not really sure. I love Animal Crossing but I’ve kindve got my fill of this iteration. I’d much rather they’d held off and saved their resources for an all new one. It looks like more home designing and fluff to decorate with or clothing to wear is all that we’re getting here. The game consoles would be so much cooler if it didn’t have to be linked to your online account. If anything I’m more discouraged that we won’t be seeing a new animal crossing anytime soon.

Re: The Binding Of Isaac Is Heading To Switch 2 With A Full Physical Release

TYRANACLES

@SillyG well said. Binding of Isaac I played years ago on the Wii U without any real knowledge of what all was on there but I find decapitated babies, themes of child abuse, and all the blasphemous content it has to be distasteful and offensive. Needless to say I put it down and never went back. It’s a personal choice, and anyone who steps on you for what you believe in are the ones with a problem.

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting Hyrule Warriors: Age Of Imprisonment?

TYRANACLES

I’m not the biggest musuo fan either but I have liked the Zelda games quite a bit. I guess it’s the characters you get and the music is really good and production top notch. I’m excited for this one and really am interested to dive in with some of the new mechanics I’ve seen them show off in the battles with the zonai tech.

Re: UK Charts: Pokémon Legends: Z-A Is The Smallest Retail Launch Since 'Let's Go!'

TYRANACLES

Im still holding off on this and waiting to see what the dlc does for this game and then maybe I’ll buy whenever they release it all physically. For now I don’t think I’m missing much. For me the biggest drawback for this game is being stuck in a drab old city the entire time. The immersion is shot here. I want to catch a Mr. Mime shaking an apple tree not resting on a park bench.
