@Joeynator3000 I bought Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise of the Dragons yesterday for $9.99. Haven't gotten to play it yet, but if that's your jam, I think free would be a great price for it
@Zeebor15 Thanks for the info. I think I was thinking of Epic Mickey: Rebrushed. I haven't played it but loved the first time I played it and assumed this one was a better version.
@AG_Awesome Thanks for letting me know it is on sale. I have such a backlog that I haven't checked the eshop lately. This is one of the ones on my radar. For $10 if it isn't good I won't be upset. Have a great day and thanks again!
@UltimateOtaku91 Same for me with Jordans. I started collecting but then the bots started buying everything before I could, so I gave up. I heard that nike started a program that allows people that have been registered with the app and bought shoes before to have priority, but I've already moved on.
I would have liked it better if they had made it so the windows were the black parts of the eyes. I feel like it is too disjointed having the windows cut out all through the design.
@Member_the_game Yeah, it's just the two of us now. And I'm back in the US so probably not "FIRST" again for a while. Although sometimes I do pick a game that has no reviews and comment there so I can be the first all by myself. It's like that old twilight zone episode where the guy loves to read, and ends up all alone with all the books in the world to read, but then breaks his glasses. Not so much the glasses part, but the being all alone and no one will ever see it. haha
Have a great day! If this gets to 69 comments, you get a puppy... or so I've heard.
With all of the closures, and with Nintendo actually doing so well, I wonder why they have not been on an acquisitions kick since they are so cash rich. I would think that some of these developers would be good enough that Nintendo wouldn't mind bringing them in to bulk up their library for switch 2. Not saying these three studios in particular, but in general. With so many closures in the industry, it seems like a prime time for Nintendo to pick the best of the bunch to bring in house to start developing for Switch 2. Think of how many dormant franchises that Nintendo has that could be revived with more talent. The first two games that come to mind are always Eternal Darkness and Geist.
@WheresWaveRace I blame CERN. I know there is a another Reality where we have had 4 sequels to the game, and each one of them messes with our minds more than the last.
I definitely think they can do it if they have one big release per quarter, and 2 smaller releases. By that I mean if they have Mario Kart, then the next quarter metroid, then the next quarter zelda. Then on the slower months have Pushmo collection, A mario party/sports style game (that is less graphically intensive), and then even have more help from like Namco/Bandai or other companies to fill in the slower months. I still feel like a remake of the 3DS Kids Icarus game would do very well on Switch 1 or 2. And then the Christmas 2025 game is: Eternal Darkness! Geist will come out for Halloween. Calling it now.
It makes sense. This game is HUGE and everyone that plays it loves it. Why not get your game featured in one of the top rated games of 2024? Very smart cross promotion. My only complaint about these is that you can only do one set per franchise. I might be weird, but I like my things to match so the fact that if I choose Shovel Knight for one set, the rest of the sets cannot also be Shovel Knight. I don't like the hodge podge. But I think I'm an outlier so good for everyone else.
@DanijoEX-the-Pierrot Thank you for the Madworld reference. I have no idea why Sega hasn't re-released this game. It was one of my favorite on the Wii. The art style really spoke to me, and it was good waggle fun.
Never heard of this, but definitely will give it a try. As a kid I LOVED all fighters, but SFII, Darkstalkers, and Samurai Showdown 2 were my 3 favorites. I haven't really played any since SF IV on the 3DS and SNK Heroines on the Switch. This one looks interesting though. If it's free to try, why not?
I agree with others, video games are a luxury. No one NEEDS to have the Switch 2. I'm a huge fan of living in the USA. I spend most of my year between there and China (which I'm currently in). I love living in China as well. The thing I can say about the USA is even our poorest people are rich compared to a lot of the world. I'm not saying our poorest have BMWs but even a lot of our poorest people still have food (maybe not the best), shelter, indoor plumbing, a wireless smart phone, a refrigerator, a stove, a microwave, and a lot even have a car. Our poor live pretty well compared to a lot of other countries and we shouldn't take that for granted.
Is the US Perfect? No. But, I'm very happy living here and I think all citizens should take the time to appreciate all we have.
I hope to have a switch 2 as soon as the Splatoon 4 edition comes out. No matter what the costs, I'll buy it Day 1. Why? Because I have budgeted money to buy this for the last few years. I knew there would eventually be a Super Switch or Switch 2 so I put money aside. Even $10 a week for 2 years is over $1,000. So when it comes out, the only game I'll probably want is Splatoon 4 and a Mario Game. I have enough backlog of other games to play.
If they had gone the route of Lego Dimensions, this game could have been a hit (been reading about it since my first discovery of this game a few hours ago). What made Dimensions great for me, wasn't so much the toys to life aspect, but it was how well it played. And it had so many different series I could play. I mean I could team of Dr. Who with Marty McFly and Superman. Who doesn't want to see that?
This game lacking couch co-op was probably the biggest bummer. And you should be able to have multiple characters to switch through at any time (like with Dimensions). Me and my ex used to play on Wii U all of the time. I would use the pad and she would use the TV. Dimensions is literally the ONLY game she ever played other than Splatoon and Mario Kart. If I look at her play time, it was probably 10 hour Mario Kart, 5 hours Splatoon, and 100 hours Lego Dimensions. We really loved exploring that one and finding every last thing in it.
When I saw it was Starfox 64, I had never seen the Japanese box before. I thought, "no way anything beat's this iconic box" and then saw the Japanese one. It's AMAZING! I think what seals the deal for me is the "Space Outlaw" Around the badge. Even though I never thought of them as Outlaws.
I'd honestly completely forgotten this was even a thing. And it came out on my birthday when I'm always looking for something new to play. It's really messed up if they called people back from vacation just to sack them.
@dmcc0 I got it on Mobile instead of my Switch for just this reason. I can say I TRULY enjoy Balatro. So my rule for myself is that I can't play it at home, but anytime I'm out, (like have a break at work or flying) I can play it. I'm now allowed to drive in China so I'm usually in a Didi (their version of Uber) so that game is the perfect game to play in short 15 minute spurts.
I somehow do not even remember this game. I have Adventures on the Gamecube, but never got this one. Seeing people talk about it now, I feel like I didn't miss anything.
@RogueSpyke I'd just laugh at them. If someone is bothered by what I pay for on the switch eshop, then their life has to be missing something. haha I was more saying it as a joke. But there is a chance I'll buy this one. I'll probably wait until the end of the year thought to see if there is any new Animal Crossing news.
@gcunit Correct, but I would hope that is they were taking more time to work on it, that it would hopefully ship either finished, or in a much more polished state than it is today.
@Member_the_game Oh you don't know???? They arrive at your door and give you a free kitten.
I don't ever stress first. I am usually in the US so on this site I'm very rarely first. But now I'm in China which means my time zones are 13 hours different so I've had the opportunity.
The only real benefit to being first is that everyone sees your comment. So if it is good, there is a lot more interaction. When some of these articles have over 100, they start getting skipped over. But trust me, I've never lost sleep over not being first. It was more of a surprise that I was almost first. haha
Looks like a cel-shaded "The Messenger". By the way, if you have not played The Messenger, HIGHLY recommend. I'm usually not into these style game, but it had me hooked from day 1.
@IceClimbersMain I REALLY almost fell for the comment removed. I was like, how did you do that and still get 30 likes? I know it's silly, but made me smile. Thanks for the bright spot.
100% this is the right thing to do. If I was into these kind of games, I would reserve next year's asap because I know it will be a fully functioning game. Develops should be rewarded for admitting things aren't ready instead of shipping half done projects.
I mean, this is embarrassing to say... but I kind of want to play this. haha Is it time to start lying to people and tell them I have a niece that uses my switch?
@Olmectron I'm more surprised that no one is talking about the WiiStation and how after making billions in sales, got sued by a small African nation that had already trademarked "Wii Station" for their brand of portable potty.
That company used their newfound income to buy Atari and create the Atari Panther. This single handedly made Gabon the most rich country in Africa.
@Whirlwound If you've never been on a plane, here are some starter tips: Push the steward(ess) button every 5 minutes or so. They like to feel needed. You should IMMEDIATELY take your shoes and socks off on the plane and try to put your feet between the armrest to the seat in front of you. The people around you on a flight LOVE random "yelps!" or "We're all going to die!" First person to get sick in an air sickness bag, hold it over someone's head and then Squish it as hard as possible so that it explodes wins $1,000. Good luck!
(Also, please do not do any of this.) Good luck on your first flight. I still remember my first. I wore a dress shirt with a necktie and blazer because to me it was important to look nice. I still dress rather nice for flights because I feel like I should respect the trip and the fact that we have come so far in humanity that I can visit anyone in the world.
So I remember back in the day, when new systems came out, Nintendo would drop the price of the old system. I think if they really wanted the record, it wouldn't be hard to drop the Switch price by $100 and "clear out" just enough inventory to make the switch the number one all time.
@DiggleDog I have yet to play this one, but do have the two other mario parties on Switch. 8 is my all time favorite so it is nice to read that this one is in their league. Thanks for the comment.
Mad World was one of my favorite Wii games. I think it would easily do much better on the Switch. I feel like Sega missed the ball by not updating that and "House of the Dead:Overkill" for the Switch. There isn't anything really like Mad World on the Switch. Maybe make it even more over the top and even add cartoon boobies to it to make it it's own thing. I mean HotD:Overkill had grandma boobs haha
I'd also like a re-do of Eternal Darkness and Conduit.
@Koxen You answered it yourself. After the Super Switch would be the Ultra Switch, and I honestly think the N64 would have done better had it been called Ultra 64. But what do I know? haha
@BigE I was for calling it the SUPER Nintendo Switch. But I'm of the generation that went from the NES to the SNES so for me, knowing the Super Nintendo was coming out (we didn't have the internet, so I got my info from Nintendo Power, GamePro, EGM, etc.) and I instantly knew that it was going to be a huge upgrade from the NES. I could see that the graphics were going to be even better than the Genesis and TG-16; so I was HYPED!
I realize that may be lost on the younger generation, because the the internet we can pour over every detail before launch, but back then it was all curated by Nintendo unless "Quarterman" had an "inside source" giving us some gossip.
I hated the faced on the Japanese one too. It's a box that it's ugly, but it's not. I don't know how to explain it. I actually thought this one would be closer than the 87% to 13%. I know this just launched so let's see how it turns out after a day? 70/30?
@tobsesta99 Curious what you didn't like about it? It's been so long since I played it, but I loved the story of it. And I thought the play mechanics were fine. I actually liked it better than either of the two Turoks
I'm not mad at these rankings other than I would have Shadowman higher. Shadowman was one of my favorite N64 games. Hunting the urns (whatever they were called) to powerup was fun, and then backtracking to find new levels.
I loved my Wii, and I love motion controls, so an updated sensor would be great. As someone else said, I'm sure the tech has gotten way better since in almost 20 years.
As far as upscaling, wasn't that the rumor for the Switch PRO, that it would have a base that could upscale. Now the difference is AI instead of another chip in the base. I would LOVE to be able to buy a "Pro" base with an added processor that I could plug the switch into, and see an immediate power boost. Instead of replacing consoles, we could replace bases. (I know that doesn't help the portability, but I don't need the BEST graphics on a small handheld, but nicer on my TV would be great. (80% of my playing is handheld anyway)

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Super Ninja Boy
I really like them both, but went with Japan's. Super Chinese World is just hard to beat.
Re: Mario Movie Scores A New "Limited-Edition" Steelbook, Pre-Orders Live
I still buy Blu Rays (I like physical media) and had not bought this. I think I will now. Great movie and this package looks great!
