Re: Talking Point: Is Knowing A Game's Ending Really That Bad?

SoIDecidedTo

For me, some games I just enjoy the experience and do not care about the ending so much. Like a Mario game I know he will save the princess. Other games, if I 100% love the gameplay, if someone spoils the ending I will still enjoy it because I like the game, but for others if I know the ending I stop playing. Like for "The Observer", I was REALLY looking forward to this game. I got it when it went on sale. I played it for a few hours and was like, "I think I know the ending already". I looked it up and I was right. That game didn't have enough to the story to make me care since I had already figured it out. Where as if the gameplay was better, and the writing had been better, I would have wanted to see how we got to the ending.

I think the only time I'd 100% not want to see the ending is if it spoils the story. Like if it had 2 players to chose from. And you play as one, but the other is with you the whole game. Then you find out at the end, it was the player you didn't chose who is the bad guy the entire time.

Re: Talking Point: Do You Want To See Colourful Cartridges Return For 'Switch 2'?

SoIDecidedTo

I still buy carts for all of the BIG games I want to play like Zelda, Mario, Splatoon, etc. I mostly download indie games and games that are on deep discount on the eshop that I would have never bought physical anyway. I think if it is done sporadically, it's a great idea. Splatoon carts should be in color. So should pokemon. But I do not need all games coming in colors.

Re: New Star GP's Retro Racing Speeds Onto Switch This March

SoIDecidedTo

@Poodlestargenerica I liked N64 better than PS, but I always enjoyed Peak Performance on PS. And I liked the first Midnight Club on PS2. Then Sega had Sega Rally on Dreamcast and I also liked the 24 hours of Daytona (or whatever it was called) where you could actually race a 24 hour race. So I agree, a lot of the best racing games came out many years ago. But I see what people are saying, I do not need bleeding edge graphics, but would like something that looks better than what I can play on my phone, unless it is going for the pixelart style of Outrun.

Re: Soapbox: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Straight Up Fails In Just One Respect: Accessibility

SoIDecidedTo

@Pete_Stooge I actually think it is way more popular than the comments section here will show. It is easy to virtue signal anonymously on a website. It make the person who wrote it feel good, and like they are making a positive change in the world. However, most people with a dissenting opinion will not write, because they do not want to get bombarded with hate and being told they are wrong and being a jerk. It's easier for those people to just abstain from writing. It took me several hours to decide if I would post my post or not because I didn't want anyone at-ing me with negativity. But at the end of the day, I thought it was important for people to see dissent expressed in a non-attacking way.

Re: Soapbox: Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Straight Up Fails In Just One Respect: Accessibility

I'm a big fan of the 80 - 20 Rule, aka Pareto Principle: The 80-20 rule, also known as the Pareto Principle, is a familiar saying that asserts that 80% of outcomes (or outputs) result from 20% of all causes (or inputs) for any given event. In business, a goal of the 80-20 rule is to identify inputs that are potentially the most productive and make them the priority.

So with Nintendo, this still fits the bill. 20% of their clients will spend the most money buying games. Before anyone comments, this is not an immutable fact, but it's just a business principle that a lot of companies go by. So Nintendo spends the majority of their efforts making games for the majority. Every layer of accessibility costs them money to implement, and will it bring any added benefit to them as a corporation? Because at the end of the day they are in the business of making money.

In an ideal world, it would be GREAT if every game had button mapping. It would be great if every single human could play every single game they wanted to play, but it is not an ideal world. It is a world where Nintendo has brought us a lot of the best games ever created. And what sets those games apart, is usually the controls.

If I as an artist want to paint my picture a certain way, I should be able to. I shouldn't have to change the colors because some people are color blind and won't appreciate it as much as the majority who have no problem. Consumer products are made for the majority.

In conclusion, it would be great if Nintendo could make every game accessible to every person, but if they do not, that's ok, there are still hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of games that do. So once can pick one of the other games and play that. I bought Tears of the Kingdom the day it came out. I still haven't opened it yet. My life is still pretty good. I want to play it, but if I never get the opportunity, I'll live.

We as a society can never truly make everything all inclusive to everyone, but we should always respect those that want to be included, but that doesn't mean we have to do what they want.

Re: Feature: 8-Bit Wolf - Remembering The NES Game Teaching Kids To Conquer Wall Street

SoIDecidedTo

@Ryu_Niiyama EXACTLY what I was going to comment. I still see no problem with working hard and trying to make as much money as possible, but at the same time being responsible with your money. Not to go on a rant about the education system, but I feel that it doesn't teach financial literacy, or how to cook, or sew, or build anything with our hands. When I was in High School, we learned all of those things. I remember learning how to balance a checkbook in 5th grade, and learned how to play the stock market in 10th grade.

This article has actually made me want to find this game and play it.

Re: Summer Days

SoIDecidedTo

So not comments yet so I can say FIRST!!! haha actually I'll give a review of this game.

First off, this is the first time I have ever played a game like this so I have nothing to compare it to. It is an interesting genre for me. I feel the dialogue is sometimes TOO much, and goes on for too long, but it was interesting to see how the game changes based on decisions I made. There are multiple endings. The bad ones are where you are rejected, the good ones you end up in a relationship, and there is a spicy bonus ending if you play your cards right. For nudity, it shows breasts but nothing below the belt. There are not a lot of photos in the game. I think it wouldn't have been too hard to add a few more to fit the situations better. Like different positions when out to eat, or when in the store. It would just match the dialogue better. At the end of the day, I would say I give this a 5 out of 10. If you have never played a game like this, and you want to try one out, I'm not mad that I bought this (it was on sale, well worth $1.49 or whatever I paid).

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Viewtiful Joe 2

SoIDecidedTo

Agree with everyone that says there is nothing pervy about this. I went NA because the action looks intense. It shows Sylvia as an action person that is doing damage, and not just eye candy. I have no problem with her being eye candy. I do not see where we have gotten to a point in society that violence is fine, but finding someone attractive is bad. haha

Re: No Gravity Games Is Giving Away 12 Free Switch Games This Month (North America)

SoIDecidedTo

So I usually do these every year, and most of the games aren't great. But some of the games are fun little time wasters. Can I think of any of their names? Nope. But like there is a puzzle game that is great when you want to spend 20 minutes and not think, and just zone out and have something to do. For me it is usually on a flight when it's in that time period of meal time so that I do not have to worry about being too engaged with what I'm doing.

UPDATE: Downloaded todays game: Nonograms prophecy and it is simple to play and a fun time waster. This is something like a sudoku style game to me. Something I can look at for a few minutes if I have time, but no obligation to complete at once. I think it needs a better tutorial, but once I figured out what it is asking, well worth the price I paid... free.

Re: Poll: Which Of Rare's Classic N64 Games Would You Like To See On Switch Online?

SoIDecidedTo

Jet Force Gemini was my first choice. Then I saw you say that it is coming! Wow! I DO hope they fix one play mechanic. I didn't like that if you left an area, and then revisited it, you had to save all the bears again before you left. Once all are saved, that area should be "Clear". My next choice is Conker. I LOVED that game. Sad but true story, my parents cancelled and didn't come to my University graduation, so I didn't go either and just stayed in my apartment and played Conker all day. It was still a good day.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Contact

SoIDecidedTo

This one was VERY tough. They are both awesome covers, and both make me curious about what the game is about. I had to go with the Japan/US one in the end. I'm glad to see the poll so close which means I wasn't the only one trying to make a decision. I like the logo on the European one better. It's just the other cover really got my attention the second I saw it. I wanted to know what this was about.

Re: Zelda's Voice Actor Would "Love" To Reprise Her Role In The Live-Action Movie

SoIDecidedTo

Of course she would. Do you know how much bank she would make from that? This is a non-article. It's like saying, "Brian won the lottery today, but would SURELY love to win again sometime". There is no possible way this woman would say, "Oh, do the movie voice? Nahhhhh, I don't want to be in a movie and make a lot of money. I'd much rather stick to the scale for videogames".

Re: Super Double Dragon

SoIDecidedTo

The "Play with your background of choice!" made me laugh. The exclamation point like this would be one of the 3 most exciting things about the game is awesome.

Re: CATAN - Console Edition

SoIDecidedTo

Catan is one of my all time favorite board games. I like the ability to connect my phone so only I can see my cards. I play a lot of game on Board Game Arena. I think if i'm playing local, I'll just play the physical game instead of the video game, but still a cool feature.

Re: Team Ghost Is Victorious In Splatoon 3's 'Splatoween' Splatfest

SoIDecidedTo

@LXP8 I have! The first splatoon was the reason I bought the Wii U. I played it so much my wife said, "You love Splatoon more than me". We are now divorced... but I still have Splatoon... and Splatfests... so maybe she was right! haha (all jokes aside, me and her get along well and she will even joke on me sometimes to see if I'm happy having more time for Spatooon).

Re: PSA: Don't Forget The Meaty Downloads Required For Metal Gear Solid's Physical Edition

SoIDecidedTo

@Chaotic_Neutral for me it is that I have limited memory on my switch. I have a massive memory card in it, but I also have a lot of games that I have downloaded onto that card that are beefy, because I bought them digitally. I travel a lot. For example, I bought the new Zelda in Bali for my 16 hour flight back home. Imagine how sucky it would be if I popped the cartridge in, and then found out I couldn't play the game because I needed to download. For me, the whole point of buying cartridges is to A> not have to download onto the card, and B> I can share with friends. My neighbor bought Mario Odyssey after borrowing mine for a week. But some games we don't want to buy, we just want to play once or twice, Like maybe Mario Party. So if I buy a cart, let me friend borrow it, and nothing can be played, it's limiting the use. Hope this helps explain why I'm not interested.

Re: Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 2 Taps Out Of Prior Release Date As Devs Announce Minor Delay

SoIDecidedTo

I really dislike games that are boxes with a code inside. Also not a fan of games that I buy that I still have to download anything to play. I have a TON of digital downloads on my switch. But games I really enjoy playing I buy physical, Like: Mario Party, Splatoon, Super Mario, LA Noir, etc. The reason being, that at some point the digital storefronts will be gone. If I have the cartridge, I can still play the game for as long as the system works. Which looking at my SNES, is over 30 years.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Professor Layton And The Unwound Future

SoIDecidedTo

This is one of the hardest ones for me so far. I think they are all great. In the end I went with North America, but there is no wrong vote. That European box is gorgeous as well. I actually like the colors of the Japanese box better than the US, but the US Title graphic is amazing. It sealed the deal

Re: 'Mario Red Edition' Switch OLED Launch Doubles System Sales In Japan

SoIDecidedTo

For me, I already have the Regular Switch, the Splatoon 2 one, the OLED, and the Splatoon 3 (Haven't opened that one yet). The red one doesn't do much for me, just like the Zelda and Pokemon ones didn't. I know they all do the same thing, but I just buy what I like. I may end up selling the Splatoon ones later, or I may keep them for my collection. I definitely think that Nintendo could sell more units in this last year of life if they did something like they did with the N64 where they came out in 5 colors (or ever how many). I'd really like an orange switch since it's my favorite color.

Re: F-Zero 99 Updated To Version 1.0.2, Here Are The Full Patch Notes

SoIDecidedTo

I'm still looking for my first win. I came in 2nd during my very first race. Since then I've been top 25 twice, maybe thrice, but usually I'm one of the last ones not to crash out. I think timing the SuperBoost is something I need to work on, but not sure where the best place is to use them. What seems like the best place to me isn't doing much.

Re: Talking Point: Would You Buy A Digital-Only 'Switch 2'?

SoIDecidedTo

So I have a TON of digital games, but I still like physical. I have a few friends with Switch and we share games. That can't be done with digital. Also, digital storefronts disappear. I LOVE Eternal Darkness, had that been a digital only release, I would no longer be able to play the game I loved if I needed to re-download it.
