They say the physical copy will have the entire game on the cart. I want to support developers doing that so I'll buy that day 1 when it comes out (even if it's after the virtual release)
I think my only qualm with this is that it is STILL hard to find Switch 2 systems in the wild. So for people that really want to play the game, and get it on Switch 1, they won't be able to upgrade immediately when they finally get a Switch 2 (which could still be months away).
But at the end of the day it doesn't matter. Most likely anyone playing on Switch one won't want to revisit it later anyway. It's not an evergreen game like rocketleague or splatoon.
I loved playing the Virtual Boy at K-Mart as a kid. I was too poor to buy one. I never had the neck pain or anything, but they had it on a shelf that was the right height for me so I pretty much would stand up straight while playing.
Now that this is coming to the switch two, I'm looking forward to see what happens. I was wondering if since the switch 2 has more power if nintendo would try to make a 3d game labo for it. Apparently they will.... but not the way I intended.
I STILL remember renting this for my SNES and being SO excited to play it. I love cats and this was a cat with an attitude. About 20 minutes in I hated it. THEN I was like, well it must be bad on SNES, let me rent the Genesis game.... Also terrible. I had forgotten how bad these games were until I saw this.
In all honesty, I'll never buy a Genki product now. It was such a messed up thing to do in my opinion.
It's like when I was a little kid, and before Santa came my sister would say, "You're getting Sim City (for the Super Nintendo) from Santa". It ruined the surprise of Christmas morning. I still enjoyed the game, but ruined the moment.
I still got a Switch 2, I still enjoy it, but I agree with others that the direct would have been way better if I never saw anything about it.
So here's the thing for me, The American one hit a nerve with me as a kid. Even though I hated the game, I remember the cover and the commercial "The future is forsaken, the future is forsaken, the future is forsaken". It's like Phlanx on the SNES. Seems like a terrible cover but it's probably one of only like 5 games for the N64 the I can close my eyes and remember it exactly.
@Lord Just curious, have you played DK yet? Or the Mario Kart? I'm actually not that into mario kart any more.
In other news, I think the library is awesome because Cyberpunk, DK, and then ALLLLL the games from Switch. Like even Splatoon 3 looks WAY better on the Switch 2. I'm surprised, I didn't expect a difference. But I notice details that I never noticed on the OLED. So the fact that the Switch 2 has backwards compatibility is MORE than enough games for me. The Switch 2 could only release one game a month and I'd still be happy for a year. Of course after that I would start to expect more. But for now, the back catalog is massive and now I can start Zelda Totk and see what that's all about.
This reminds me of when NFL 2k5 released for $20 and was a vastly superior game to Madden 2005 (which I think was $50, but maybe $60). This, of course, lead to the NFL signing an exclusive with EA that really sucked. Especially playing Madden on the Switch 2 this year, I REALLY wish there was another option than this laggy ish.
I think it's smart to put this game at $20. I'm sure they will sell a lot even at $50, but at $20, I think they'll more than make up for the difference. And for the developer saying he can't give his game away for free... (eye roll) There are a LOT of numbers between free and $19.99 (around 2000 of them). So why not price at $6.99, $9.99 or $12.99.
@JJtheTexan Dude that's awesome! Let me know what you think. You may be glad you didn't break the seal. I was so hyped for this game when it came out, I still remember the add campaign, "The Future is Forsaken". But playing it, I hated it. Can't remember what it was now, but I just remember being so bummed that it wasn't what I thought it would be. But I was a kid, what do I know? haha
@9_10DOH64 That's awesome. I'll try. It sucks that they turned off in game screen recording so I can't show all the jitter in lag which is completely unacceptable in an offline mode game. And this is handheld so no issues with upscaling or anything.
If it is as "good" as Madden, HARD pass. Madden is Trash on Switch 2. I can't imagine paying any more money for any EA Game until they fix Madden. I can't believe this site gave Madden an 8 when it is laggy in single player offline mode.
Oh, and to piggyback my last comment, even the menus are broken. If you go into look at the stats, you can only go one direction, unlike the older games where you could toggle between different positions by doing L and R buttons, this one you can only go one way. This is SO unintuitive and a huge step back. Also, on defense, you can only cycle through players one way, instead of being able to go back and forth between players between snap. Accidentally hit the button too many times (because of the lag), too bad. You now have to hit it 10 more times to get the player you want instead of just hitting another button once to go back.
This game seems like it was made by people that never played Madden. Again, I haven't bought one since the Wii, so maybe the "New Generation" likes this aggravation, but this has been the worst video game experience I've had for a $70 game ever.
If Nintendo allowed refunds, I would do it. How do even the LOADING screens have slow down and jitter? If the loading screen is so bad at scrolling, just put a static picture with a tip about gameplay.
Also, now way to cut out all the cinematic stuff. You have to hold down A to skip it. I've now conditioned myself to just hold down A after almost everything so I can get right back to the play call screen and sometimes it still shoes in an interstitial even though I held A. I just want to play the game with no fluff.
Also, game needs a huge tutorial for new players on all the clutter that they have. It seems I need to do 14 things each week before the game, from scouting to assigning attributes to everything else. There should be a way to just play the game and have the game automate all the clutter that we don't want or need. I get that there are people that WANT to assign their scouts to different sections, but it's something I have no urge to do. I know this seems like a rant, but I just want people to understand what they are getting into before they buy the game.
And if I'm wrong on any of this and there are options to fix the things (especially turning off all the fluff between plays), please let me know. Thanks.
I was so hype for this game, but consider it garbage. DO NOT PLAY FULL PRICE FOR IT! I don't think it's worth more than $10 to be honest. I feel ripped off paying $70. I REALLY wanted a good Madden game, but overall, this has been the worst controlling video game I've played in years, and the I feel like it is borderline shovelware. How did it get an 8 on here? If I was being GENEROUS I would give it a 3 out of 10. Maybe there is something I'm missing.
I hate that it takes 5 minutes to even get to the game because I have to go through the set up of an EA account JUST TO PLAY THE GAME OFFLINE. With all the lag and jitter when playing solo, why would I EVER torture myself with online play?
I need to look again for a tutorial, but seems very unintuitive for all controls. It's like playing football in wet sand.
Maybe I'm just going through "culture shock" since I haven't played a Madden in a decade, but I would rather play Madden on my Wii than this garbage dump. It's just not fun.
I will edit this and update it if I change my mind, but for now, I would highly recommend NO ONE buy this game unless you REALLY liked how good (BAD) Quarterback Club 1999 was on the N64 by Acclaim.
I think even if this game was $5, right now I'd say it is overpriced. I'll try again later this week and I really hope that it gets a patch to make it more fun and easier to play.
I 100% agree with you @9_10DOH64. I wish I had saw this before I paid the $70 for it. This is the most garbage game I've played in roughly 10 years. Madden on the Wii was better.
So many things wrong, the controls are as bad as NFL QB Club by ACCLAIM!!!! from 1999.
The incessant need for "realism" so I can't go from play to play to play without the inbetween chatter is annoying. I've turned off the volume of the game. (If there is a way to make it automatically take you to the play select screen after ever play ends, please let me know).
The music is lame since they bleep everything out. If you don't want cursing in the game, DON'T PICK EXPLICIT SONGS!
This game takes 5 to 10 minutes to set up just to get started with the game. LAME.
Can't capture screenshots or videos, probably because they KNOW this game is broken.
Play selection sucks. I like the old school madden where i pick formation, and then pick package, and play.
I have NO idea how to do read options. Every time they just hand the ball off when I'm trying to pass. No tutorial at all on how to play the game.
Players are so sluggish, like everyone is running wet sand.
The game has jitter and lag when playing ONE player OFFLINE!
I really wish I could get a refund on this. If I didn't just spend $70 on it, I would probably never play it again. I should have bought physical so I could sell it. I would gladly take $50 for this garbage now.
It sucks because I was SO HYPE FOR THIS GAME!!! I've literally been waiting for time to play it. How does Madden ruin Madden? It really makes me wish Sega could do NFL 2k25 for the system. No matter how bad that would be, it's probably better than this. Seriously, control reminds me of Quarterback Club 1999 on the N64 (whichever one had Farve on the cover).
BUYER BEWARE! 1 star.
I'll try it again later this week and really search for a tutorial that explains everything. Maybe I can find a way to make it better, but the sluggishness makes it borderline unplayable at the moment.
I would love miis in it since it makes more sense to have real people in wheel chairs instead of robots. I mean, to me the whole concept of them being robots makes no sense from a real world design perspective. If you were going to do a game like this with robots, tank treads make more sense.
The Messenger for $3 is a STEAL! It's like if you took the best parts of Ninja Gaiden on the NES, and then made them better annnnnd added a ton of humor.
@Yosher I have the switch 2 and really the only game I've been playing on it is Splatoon 3. I haven't tried mario kart or DK yet, but guess I should at some point. haha
But I write to say that for a lot of people maybe there isn't much of a reason, but just playing splatoon 3 on Switch 2, I notice a lot of details in the characters and their wardrobes I didn't notice on the OLED. I know that's a minimal thing, but that game is all about the vibe, it's cool to see.
Also, I feel lucky to have gotten one. I tried online every day and no luck. Didn't have them in Best Buy or Target either. But, just happened to find one in Nintendo New York. I think if they had more systems, they would have already sold 5 million.
This sucks for developers, but honestly as an end user, this doesn't bother me much. I have SO many games in my back catalog for switch 1, that I have more than enough to play for a year, and to be honest probably 3 years. haha Of course I'll look forward to a new game when it comes out, but I haven't even started Donkey Kong yet, and bought that the day I got my switch.
The first time I ever saw X used as "Cross" was on the NYC subway probably around 2009 or 2010. It was a fashion company (I think H&M or some other cheap fashion brand) that was doing a cross promotion with a designer. I called it eks then until one of my fashion friends said it is "Cross" which is like "in collaboration with". I thought it was stupid then, and all these years later, it is still stupid. X is eks or it is ten. Nothing else.
I'm usually not into violent games, why I play Splatoon instead of other shooters, but this game looks so over the top that I might partake if it comes to switch 2. Speaking of violent, why hasn't Sega re-released Mad World?
I played this for pretty much the entirety of a Los Angeles to New York flight, and it was a great time waster for flight, but by the last hour of the flight I had switched to something else. So many of the courses are almost exactly the same. But I do love the hease of jumping in to play.
I thought the animation looked bad. I was imagining trying to time the punches but something seemed "off". Not sure what it is. At 60fps it should be so smooth. I do miss Puncheout. I've bought every one ever released. I liked it on the Wii, and that seems like something easy to port to the Switch, and use joycons for the controllers, or just use regular controls.
I might actually get this. I haven't bought a Madden game since the Wii, but used to LOVE it as a kid growing up. I thought NFL 2K was better at the end, but then EA gobbled the license up completely. I haven't bought an EA game in ages, but I feel like getting this just so they'll maybe make College Football on the Switch 2.
I don't think it's bad at all. When people use Nintendo's games at any event, there are people that may construe this as Nintendo sponsoring the event or having something to do with it. Why wouldn't a company want to protect their IP and brand name. I'm not saying this speedrunning company is bad, but I've never heard of it. What if there are Nefarious actors doing competitions with Nintendo games and it paints Nintendo in a bad light. I get people's point that Nintendo should let everyone use everything because they are a big company with a lot of money, but one of the reasons Nintendo has a lot of money is because they protected the brand.
@SuntannedDuck2 I agree on your points. And that's a good call on the fact it could still be rated M instead of T. I hadn't thought of that. I mean, what about having two different versions of the game? It's something that has already been done on the switch with Waifu Uncovered and Waifu Discovered 2 where the eshop version only showed tatas and the Retail Boxed version was completely uncensored showing full nudity.
I'm just of the mindset that if Mortal Kombat (which was one of my favorite games as a kid) allowed full gore and dismemberment, then showings some skin isn't so bad.
I think this could actually be fun if you can use normal controls. Like L and R to activate that wheel to go forward. Then A to pass and B to shoot. Hold down ZR for turbo and all of a sudden we have 3D Wheelchair NBA Jam.
I went with Japan just because Blast Dozer sounds cooler than Blast Corps. This game always makes me laugh. I rented it from Movie Gallery as a kid. I didn't realize someone else had already beaten the game so there was nothing for me to do. I thought it was the most boring game ever. It was years later when I watched someone play it on Youtube I realized my mistake. haha
If only the switch had a game in this genre that is one of the best games ever made. And if only that game had a sequel that is also magnificent in so many ways. And if only there was a way to have those same games upgraded by the publisher so that they would work on the Switch 2. Maybe even throw in some app support on the official Nintendo app. But unfortunately nothing like that exists so here we are only dreaming about what might have been.
I bought the game when I bought my Switch 2 on Tuesday. Haven't opened it yet, I've had no time to even play the new Switch. But I am looking forward to playing around with it. I don't have any interest in beating it, just want to put a few hours in and see if it has a good hook. I should pop in Odyssey first to get acquainted.
@Coalescence I agree. I believe the whole thing is faked for views. I mean he actually did it, but he did it for views and 15 minutes of fame and he got it. Good for him. I would never think to spray paint, but a nice model paint might work. My old school SNES controllers I painted with model paint. It may still be too thick for a game cart though. I think it would keep it from sliding in and out, but it would look way more professional.
@ShieldHero I'm with you on all counts. I think they shouldn't censor anything. If someone doesn't like it, don't buy it. Someone else a while back mentioned having everything in the game, and at the title screen you could choose if you want M rated version or T so those easily offended by a little skin can play without losing their ish.
Also, Agree that being able to block publishers would be AWESOME!
I've always wondered why Nintendo doesn't absorb more companies. They're cash flush and they obviously need more software. If Microsoft didn't want perfect dark, sell rare whole to Nintendo. I'm sure Nintendo could use them. Nintendo should also launch a sports division again. 1080 snowboarding, waverace 64, Ken Griffey Baseball, and Kobe Bryant Basketball could ALL use new installments.
@Jack_Goetz 100% correct. It's wild to me that 35 years later we can still debate this. I remember playing them on NES. MM2 was one of my FAVORITE games, and when 3 came out, I enjoyed it, but still thought 2 was better. My friend Chad agreed with me and John swore 3 was better. haha
I wish they would add Saturday Night Slam masters to this. I also wish they would make a new version that played like a pure wrestling game and extended that universe.
I went US. If Japan had been split off by itself, I would have went Japan, but the whiteout of the Europe version is really offputting to me. It just looks like they forgot to finish it.
I feel like I already know the answer is NO, but in case anyone knows stuff I do not. I have played most of the Maximus Cups. I have two switch (OG and an OLED). I thought they had all synced for the unlockables but I noticed that one switch may have 20, 21, 22, and the other has 23, 24, 25 for the unlockables from the Maximus Cups. There is no way to combine them, right?
@JohnnyMind That's my thoughts. about 3 years in they can release the "Bounding Worlds" DLC (or whatever they will call it) and then have a new world to race in that will be a crossover world.
I REALLY like the Japanese one, but had to go US. The art style is striking. Usually when I can't decide which one I like, I think "Which one would look best as a poster on my wall" and the US one would be a rather cool conversation piece.
@Yosher Well said. I have no urge for physical carts that are just digital games. I buy carts because I like knowing that 20 years from now I can still play the game. Kind of like I can still play my Super Nintendo games.
I want the games on the card. Game key cards are ridiculous. Just buy digital if you want that.
I'm also in the camp that I have enough games on switch 1 to play that I want to see how they look on Switch 2. Other than any splatoon titles, I may not buy any games on Switch 2 for the first year.

Re: Hades 2 Launches As Timed Console Exclusive On Switch & Switch 2 This Month
They say the physical copy will have the entire game on the cart. I want to support developers doing that so I'll buy that day 1 when it comes out (even if it's after the virtual release)
Re: No Switch 2 "Upgrade Path" For Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined Planned
I think my only qualm with this is that it is STILL hard to find Switch 2 systems in the wild. So for people that really want to play the game, and get it on Switch 1, they won't be able to upgrade immediately when they finally get a Switch 2 (which could still be months away).
But at the end of the day it doesn't matter. Most likely anyone playing on Switch one won't want to revisit it later anyway. It's not an evergreen game like rocketleague or splatoon.

Re: Developers Reportedly Still Struggling To Get Switch 2 Dev Kits
This sucks for developers, but honestly as an end user, this doesn't bother me much. I have SO many games in my back catalog for switch 1, that I have more than enough to play for a year, and to be honest probably 3 years. haha Of course I'll look forward to a new game when it comes out, but I haven't even started Donkey Kong yet, and bought that the day I got my switch.
Re: Opinion: We Need To Talk About X Games
The first time I ever saw X used as "Cross" was on the NYC subway probably around 2009 or 2010. It was a fashion company (I think H&M or some other cheap fashion brand) that was doing a cross promotion with a designer. I called it eks then until one of my fashion friends said it is "Cross" which is like "in collaboration with". I thought it was stupid then, and all these years later, it is still stupid. X is eks or it is ten. Nothing else.
Re: Suda51 Is Eager To Get His Latest 'Ultra-Violent' Game On Switch 2
I'm usually not into violent games, why I play Splatoon instead of other shooters, but this game looks so over the top that I might partake if it comes to switch 2. Speaking of violent, why hasn't Sega re-released Mad World?
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Chibi-Robo!: Park Patrol
I kind of agree with the guy that said Australia should have been included if the US one had the Wal-Mart sticker on it.
I went US but thought this one would be very close. Guess I was wrong.
Re: Revived Publisher Acclaim Is Teasing Something For Next Week
@Suketoudara Did you every pay BMXXX? That was a really fun game for me. It wasn't as good as Tony Hawk, but I found it enjoyable.
Re: Review: Gear.Club Unlimited (Switch)
I played this for pretty much the entirety of a Los Angeles to New York flight, and it was a great time waster for flight, but by the last hour of the flight I had switched to something else. So many of the courses are almost exactly the same. But I do love the hease of jumping in to play.
Re: He-Man Is The Next '80s Icon Getting His Own Stunning Arcade-Style Retro Revival
They said 4 playable characters... I think that must be at first. I be others will come via dlc.
Re: This Super Punch-Out!! Style Game Is On The Way To Switch, Here's A Look
Re: Review: EA SPORTS Madden NFL 26 (Switch 2) - EA's Gridiron Series Finally Plays Ball On A Switch Console
Re: Nintendo Won't Let Charity Speedrunning Event Use Its Games Without Permission, Because Of Course
Re: Nintendo Sends Out Second Game-Key Card & Physical Game Survey
Guess the survey is already over. I tried the link and it no longer exists.
Re: Nintendo Has Seemingly Taken Further Steps To Combat 'eSlop' On Switch 2
@SuntannedDuck2 I agree on your points. And that's a good call on the fact it could still be rated M instead of T. I hadn't thought of that. I mean, what about having two different versions of the game? It's something that has already been done on the switch with Waifu Uncovered and Waifu Discovered 2 where the eshop version only showed tatas and the Retail Boxed version was completely uncensored showing full nudity.
I'm just of the mindset that if Mortal Kombat (which was one of my favorite games as a kid) allowed full gore and dismemberment, then showings some skin isn't so bad.
Re: Nintendo Announces 'Global Jam' Demo Event For Switch 2 Online Members
I think this could actually be fun if you can use normal controls. Like L and R to activate that wheel to go forward. Then A to pass and B to shoot. Hold down ZR for turbo and all of a sudden we have 3D Wheelchair NBA Jam.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Blast Corps
I went with Japan just because Blast Dozer sounds cooler than Blast Corps. This game always makes me laugh. I rented it from Movie Gallery as a kid. I didn't realize someone else had already beaten the game so there was nothing for me to do. I thought it was the most boring game ever. It was years later when I watched someone play it on Youtube I realized my mistake. haha
Re: 'The Knightling' Has Gone Gold, But The Switch Version Has Been Axed
If only the switch had a game in this genre that is one of the best games ever made. And if only that game had a sequel that is also magnificent in so many ways. And if only there was a way to have those same games upgraded by the publisher so that they would work on the Switch 2. Maybe even throw in some app support on the official Nintendo app. But unfortunately nothing like that exists so here we are only dreaming about what might have been.
Re: UK Charts: Donkey Kong Bananza Is A Hit, But Sells Less Than Half Of Super Mario Odyssey
Re: Random: DK Enthusiast Breaks Switch 2 In Bananas Spray Painting Job Gone Wrong
Re: Pokémon Legends: Z-A Is Getting Its Very Own Switch 2 Bundle
Hopefully this means a Splatoon bundle will be coming too! I hope it is actually themed though other than just including a game code.
Re: Hitman: World Of Assassination Has A Hidden 'Performance Mode' On Switch 2
@PJOReilly please let us know how it goes. Super curious about this. Now wondering if it will work with other games too.
Re: Nintendo Has Seemingly Taken Further Steps To Combat 'eSlop' On Switch 2
@ShieldHero I'm with you on all counts. I think they shouldn't censor anything. If someone doesn't like it, don't buy it. Someone else a while back mentioned having everything in the game, and at the title screen you could choose if you want M rated version or T so those easily offended by a little skin can play without losing their ish.
Also, Agree that being able to block publishers would be AWESOME!
Re: Splatoon 3 Offering Four Exclusive Icons To Switch Online Subscribers
These are rather dope. I just now found out there is a splatfest this weekend. Guess I know what I'll be doing.
Re: "It's Heartbreaking" - The Pokémon Company Tech VP Joins Industry In Criticising Microsoft Layoffs
Re: PSA: You Can Play One Of The Greatest Platformers Of All Time In Street Fighter 6
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Duel - Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles
I went US. If Japan had been split off by itself, I would have went Japan, but the whiteout of the Europe version is really offputting to me. It just looks like they forgot to finish it.
Re: Nintendo's President Apologises For Not Being Able To Meet Switch 2 Demand
@GalaxyGreg Where are you located? Maybe this is your time to become a scalper.
Re: Nintendo's President Apologises For Not Being Able To Meet Switch 2 Demand
@Not_Soos I haven't been able to find one online or locally since launch. Neither Best Buy, GameStop, or Target has them.
Re: Tetris 99's New Maximus Cup Sees The Return Of Four Nintendo Themes
I feel like I already know the answer is NO, but in case anyone knows stuff I do not. I have played most of the Maximus Cups. I have two switch (OG and an OLED). I thought they had all synced for the unlockables but I noticed that one switch may have 20, 21, 22, and the other has 23, 24, 25 for the unlockables from the Maximus Cups. There is no way to combine them, right?
Re: Where Are Mario Kart World's Non-Mario Racers? Producer Kosuke Yabuki Has The Answer
@JohnnyMind That's my thoughts. about 3 years in they can release the "Bounding Worlds" DLC (or whatever they will call it) and then have a new world to race in that will be a crossover world.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Donkey Konga 2
I REALLY like the Japanese one, but had to go US. The art style is striking. Usually when I can't decide which one I like, I think "Which one would look best as a poster on my wall" and the US one would be a rather cool conversation piece.
Re: Forget Switch 2 Game Key-Cards - "Full On-The-Cart Physical Releases" Are What People Want, Says Publisher Lost In Cult
@Yosher Well said. I have no urge for physical carts that are just digital games. I buy carts because I like knowing that 20 years from now I can still play the game. Kind of like I can still play my Super Nintendo games.
Re: Third-Party Launch Games On Switch 2 Reportedly Sold "Very Low Numbers"
I want the games on the card. Game key cards are ridiculous. Just buy digital if you want that.
I'm also in the camp that I have enough games on switch 1 to play that I want to see how they look on Switch 2. Other than any splatoon titles, I may not buy any games on Switch 2 for the first year.
