Re: Soapbox: 'Switch 2' Doesn't Really Need Backwards Compatibility

SoIDecidedTo

@larryisaman I 100% agree. I REALLY hope they call the next machine the SUPER Nintendo Switch. That would take my gaming life full circle. Therefore everyone would KNOW it is a new switch. They could even bring back the slogan, Now you're playing with power, Super Power. Everything is just RIGHT about it. I may be in the minority here, but I still played a lot of my Wii games on my Wii U. It was nice not having to have two systems side by side. That's actually where I played Mario Galaxy 2 for the first time, and even a few bargain find Wii games. Having the Switch 2 be backwards compatible would make it a day one purchase for me.

Re: Soapbox: FOMO Nearly Ruined Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom For Me

SoIDecidedTo

I bought this game the day it came out, had every intention of playing it on a 16 hour flight, didn't play it then, and still haven't played it. I really like being outside in the summer months, so once it gets to be cold out, I'll start playing. I have no expectations, and since I never played Breath of the Wild, I think I'm going to really enjoy this.

Re: UK Charts: Disney Illusion Island Makes A Lukewarm Debut As FIFA 23 Dominates

SoIDecidedTo

@Dr_Lugae I completely see your point. I just look at how marvel movies are doing now, and they are going down and down. And how the Little Mermaid remade did poorly (Still made a ton of money) but people automatically called others racist for not being cool with race swapping. Like in China they didn't see it, and people said they were racist for not wanting a black mermaid, but it wasn't that, they just thought it was stupid. It only made $3.7 million but then Spiderman Across the Spiderverse made $42.5 million even though Miles was the main attraction.

All in all, I'm not saying either side is right, but there are people that refuse to see anything they picture as "woke" which is why Mario SMASHED it at the box office.

I agree with the Barbie thing, but there is 40 years of pent up demand for this movie, so women were going to go see it no matter what. I've seen so many people dress up in pink to go see it. Thanks for your comment though. I guess this is enough politics for a game site, haha. I just thought that cashews has a good point that maybe it won't sell as many copies because disney no longer seems to push the same values as a lot of their buyers.

Re: UK Charts: Disney Illusion Island Makes A Lukewarm Debut As FIFA 23 Dominates

@Cashews My apologies. I was not trying to infer you were. I was just pointing out that people, do, in fact get culture from the media they consume, and was not trying to state your opinion one way or the other. I've just seen more and more boycotts of disney things since they went "woke". I'm not saying that either side is right or wrong, and again, my apologies for not writing my thoughts better. I had just woken up and thought I was stating it a different way. Whoops!

Re: UK Charts: Disney Illusion Island Makes A Lukewarm Debut As FIFA 23 Dominates

@Rainbowfire I believe movies, tv shows, and music had driven culture for the last 40 years. However, the last 5 to 10 years is becoming more driven by social media so I think the commenter had a point. Disney has been pushing an agenda for the last few years and it is hurting them in films, in their theme park business, and now it may be hurting them in games. People just want to use entertainment to relax, not be preached to.

Re: Bandai Namco Announces Character Pass 2 For One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4

I really want to like the show. But the acting just seems bad. The action looks pretty good, but luffy delivers his lines like he is reading them from the script. There is not emotion. Nami also sounded like she's reading the script. Sanji was good though. I'll give the show a shot because maybe it is just bad editing for the trailer that makes things seem bad. I WANT this to be good.

Re: New Star GP Brings Retro-Inspired Racing To Switch Later This Year

SoIDecidedTo

@Expa0 I agree, I hope the recommended race lines can be turned off. If so, this could be pretty cool. I kind of wish it was more than 10 racers as well. 16 would be nice. If this was on sale for $10 it was be an automatic purchase from me. I'm not saying it isn't worth more, but I'm just not into racing games that much, but this reminds me of the old school games.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Donkey Konga

SoIDecidedTo

@FullMetalWesker Dude! This one is the best! Thanks for the link.

My original comment was just going to be if I was the only one that saw the 3 people on the NA box art, and wondered whatever happened to them? Did they go on to model for other things, or is this the highlight of their career, and they still keep a copy of the game on their book cases for their friends to see when they visit.

Re: Mario Movie Sets New Box Office Records

SoIDecidedTo

I haven't seen it yet, but want to. I've heard that it is just a good fun film with a lot of fan service and there is no agenda or "woke" politics in it. I think there was a huge pent up demand for something that you can take your family to and not not have to worry about having anything preached to you about. Hopefully studios realize that we just want to be entertained when we go out.

Re: It's Official, SEGA Is Buying Angry Birds Maker, Rovio

SoIDecidedTo

@Greatluigi I had held out hope for so long that someone would make a hack so it could play offline. It's one of my favorite match games ever. Maybe if one day I'm rich I'll figure out how to have someone make one. haha I saved the game on my old phone and still click it from time to time to see if any way to connect.

Re: It's Official, SEGA Is Buying Angry Birds Maker, Rovio

SoIDecidedTo

I hope they do better with them than they did with Demiurge Studios. I loved Sega Heroes, and that game was killed too soon because of greed. I hope Sega doesn't become even greedier with this acquisition. Which I am not privy to what actually happened between them deciding to part ways but Sega Heroes was the only mobile game I've ever spent money on and it will be the last.

Re: Talking Point: Which Nintendo Franchise Should Illumination Tackle Next?

SoIDecidedTo

Splatoon is my first choice. Then my next would be Star Fox, and then Luigi's Mansion. But honestly, from the list I would probably be interested in almost all of them other than Donkey Kong. I loved the DK Country games on Snes, and loved DK as a kid, but he no longer holds my interest. I'd also love a Wario movie. That could set him up as a future villain.

Re: Poll: What Did You Make Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom's Final Trailer?

SoIDecidedTo

@LikelySatan Yeah, it's tough to say. I got my switch when Splatoon 2 came out. I mostly played that and rocket league until Animal Crossing came out. BOTW looked amazing but I just didn't think I would have the time to put into it. Then I got Odyssey when it came out but still haven't beaten it so confirmed I wouldn't have the time. However, this game makes me think I will take time for it. I wish it came out a couple of weeks earlier. I'm going to China for a month and do not do online gaming there so this would be a great game to play in the hotel.

Re: Talking Point: What Is The Best Special Edition Switch Console?

SoIDecidedTo

I voted for Splatoon 3 one, as that's the only one I've bought. I REALLY like the Animal Crossing one, and think it is BEAUTIFUL, but It didn't convince me to buy a new system. I already had the switch OLED and bought the Splatoon 3 one, so even though I thought I liked the AC one better, I didn't buy it so obviously I do not know myself well. haha

Re: Splatoon 3 Reveals Brand New Special Weapon For Fresh Season 2023

SoIDecidedTo

Yeah, The curling stone is like a nerfed seeker. I used it with my roller now just so I can have some kind of range with my roller. What I liked about the seeker special was that I think I could send out 7 or 8 seekers at once, so on a narrow stage like Camp Triggerfish or Walleye Warehouse I could unleash them all while my teammate tried to advance the rainmaker and it was just enough distraction to get us that extra push. I also liked the original Killer Wail (Sp?) for narrow stages or on Hammerhead Bridge. It would often get me a quad.

Re: Life Is Strange 2 Brings More Magical Realism To Switch Next Month

SoIDecidedTo

@Bass_X0 Got it, thanks. I remember the kids in cages thing. I always thought it was weird that the "not sending their best" thing was taken out of context. He was talking about the coyotes that smuggle people in, but still, I see it's a bad look. And Biden is still working on the wall so I guess no matter who the president is, it's all the same. haha Thanks for explaining. I've never heard of the game so was just curious. Thanks for answering without being political.

Re: Life Is Strange 2 Brings More Magical Realism To Switch Next Month

SoIDecidedTo

@Bass_X0 Not to get political, but how were Mexicans treated during the presidency of Trump compared to how they are treated under Biden? Please pardon my ignorance, just do not understand what happened during Trump? FBI data shows that is has been similar under Biden and was similar pre-Trump. So was curious what the game inferred was happening. Not being political, just wanting some clarification. Thanks.

Re: Video: THQ Nordic Cooks Up A New Gameplay Trailer For AEW: Fight Forever

SoIDecidedTo

I don't care about WWE or AEW. I was a WCW fan growing up and old school WWF through the attitude era. Don't care about the PG stuff. I can say all the games on N64 were stellar. I actually thought this game looked nice. I'm surprised everyone is saying it looks so bad. Of course my favorite wrestling game right now is Wrestling Empire which is not known for it's graphics, but that game is FUN. And I care more about Fun than graphics.

Re: Feature: With Sales Outpacing Pokémon, Why Is Splatoon So Popular In Japan?

SoIDecidedTo

So I got the Splatoon/Smash Brothers Wii U as a gift. I wanted it for Smash Brothers, because I thought Splatoon looked stupid. I was incredibly, incredibly wrong. Splatoon was the most played game on my Wii U and I posted so much about it on the Splatoon Reddit they grew to want me to shut up. haha I imported the clothes from Japan when you couldn't buy them in the US. I still buy their splatfest shirts. All and All, this game just speaks to me because I do not like violent shooters. A few years ago I just got tired of all the lifelike violence and I do not think shooting people is a fun excursion. I do not like glorifying violence. But with Splatoon, I'm not killing people, i'm popping squids with ink, not bullets. So I can get my shooter fix without having to watch gore and violence. The music is dope, and the variety is amazing for the weapons and clothes. This is my favorite game series ever and I look forward to new content.
