This was my #1 most anticipated game when I picked up a Switch 2, but I have to admit I’m having doubts now after the reviews. I’ve just finished DK Bananza after finding that a bit boring and forgettable by the time I rolled credits, and that game was universally praised. After Mario Kart World and DK disappointing slightly I’m now really worried about this and it’s putting me off a bit. Gonna watch some more reviews to make up my mind, but really not sure.

Well that is certainly a take. For me personally, I won’t touch a game if I know it’s used generative AI for anything. And that opinion is not going to change.

Never played a DQ game before, always been tempted but gotta say this one looks awful from that non-fan perspective. The trailers have all been really weirdly paced, the art style is awful and the voice acting seems to be even worse. I guess maybe they’re not going after RPG fans that aren’t already engaged with the series but so far I’ve been really put off by what I’ve seen.

DK and MK:W are the only games on that list I’ve actually played, but I wouldn’t give either of them the award, personally. Both good, but not GOTY good, IMO.

I'll be waiting for YouTube, but exciting either way!

Would have been more interested in a new game than ports, but ah well - still cool for anyone that enjoyed them back in the day.

Nah, not remotely interested in the Dynasty Warriors style formula. Though I will say the storylines to these games seem infinitely more interesting than the actual BotW / TotK narratives.

Glad to see updates continuing, but at the same time the rewards feel a little pointless.

Would love to give this a go sometime, but the 30fps limit is a bit of a dealbreaker for me. Hopefully they can sort an update. I understand the “elitist” comments to a degree. But I have limited time and money available for games these days and unless it’s something I’m absolutely desperate to play, I think optimisation and performance are a perfectly valid reason for picking game A over game B if I’m looking to pick something up for my Switch. There’s lots of games out there that are all worth my time and money and I don’t think it’s elitist to consider 60fps a considerable advantage when trying to decide what to play next.

Picking this up as soon as I can, missed it first time around but was on my wishlist pretty much from day one. About time to fix that.

I was super excited for CrossWorld, but absolutely hated what I played in the demo so haven’t gone near it. Bored of MK World for now as well so I’m currently weighing up whether to re-buy MK8 or just wait for Kirby Air Riders. I’m hopeful that Nintendo is listening and working on some killer updates or DLC for MK:W but not banking on it, either.

So glad to hear this - I was really shocked when I downloaded the demo, completely put me off buying it. Will re-download and take another look.

Very pretty, but incredibly derivative. The Catbus and little Totoro/cat blob thing are so blatant. But I do love the concept of being shrunk down into your own charming little bric a brac world - if you ignore all the obvious imitation then it looks a lot more interesting and charming than Animal Crossing. To say I’m wary would be an understatement but interested in keeping an eye on it.

Weird, maybe because I wasn’t a Nintendo diehard growing up, but I loved the original, waaaay better than I expected even with Chris Pratt on board. And I watched the Bob Hoskins one in theatres so I’ve seen the full journey, so to speak. Just managed to get my own kids into it recently too (7 and 4) and watching it with them was loads of fun. Very much hoping I can drag everyone out for the sequel.

I really can't get my head around the idea that anyone would care in the least about the "lore" of DK, or really most Nintendo franchises. For me 9 times out of 10 it's just a vehicle for whatever gameplay mechanics the geniuses have dreamed up and I really don't think of it beyond any of that.

@Wewewi Same here. The only other reason I play these days is because one of my kids is train obsessed and likes having a tour of the game world by hopping onto the back of the in-game train for a full circuit of its route! Other than that, its just got a bit boring and I wish I’d kept my copy of MK8. Ah well. Hopefully it’ll get the expansion treatment sooner rather than later.

My gut says early 2026 but I’ll be chuffed to bits if it’s out by Christmas.

Great preview, really gave me a sense of a game I honestly don’t know much about. Sounds like it has a lot in common with the arcade games I most loved as a kid so I’m really excited about it. Would love a demo/network trial.

The Touryst has been on my wishlist since it first came out and I’ve always been a little annoyed at myself for not picking it up. I’ll be day one this time though. Awesome news.

45 minutes Is insane, unless there’s like a Nintendo Treehouse style demo attached. Either way, absolutely wild and I can’t wait. Very excited for this and Sakurai rarely disappoints.

I would have given anything for Sonic Mania 2. Gutted.

It’s fine, but it’s got nothing on Richard Jacques’ OST from Transformed. I’m a bit biased though I guess, as most of this is from the games I didn’t like. Would love to see (and hear) some stuff from the 2D days instead.

Seems pretty pointless if you're not a top tier player, which I 100% am not. Shame.

Nope. Got a ridiculous backlog already and there’s not enough there to tempt me away from any of the other stuff.

Super cute, my kids are a little old for most of it now but keep an eye out to see which stuff makes it over here. We bought a bunch of baby Ghibli stuff when we were last in Japan though so our two still got some cool stuff at least!

So excited for this. Never got the original on Switch 1 before I sold it, and it’s right at the top of games I wish I’d played. Picked up a second hand copy as soon as my Switch 2 preorder went through.

This is a nice surprise, always enjoy these indie directs! Whether Silksong is there or not…honestly I’m not placing too much hope, but it’s possible. It’s possible they could be waiting for gamescom though, as well.

Either way, looking forward to it.

Been hoping for a 60 FPS Switch 2 update for Octopath Traveler 2 but if that doesn't happen, then this'll do.

Looks lovely and gameplay seems nice. The name is a bit silly and the voice actor that fairy sounds awful, but still interested. Haven't played an Octopath game before either and the previous two have been on my wishlist forever so may well grab that if the reviews are good.

Would love to get this but won’t pick it up without a Switch 2 patch. Might grab it on PC eventually I guess.

Switch 2 patch would be a huge motivator for me to finally buy this.

Very excited for the game. Originally had no interest in physical edition gimmicks but have to admit that super premium one is triggering some serious nostalgia driven desire. The comic with the Sonic CD inspired cover especially!

Nope, it looks really boring from the trailer so haven’t given it any thought after the showcase until now.

Eventually, maybe, if I can find a cheap copy of the original Switch cart that I can upgrade. The camera stuff looks like it would be fun for my young kids but I’m not paying full price for that novelty. Got the Kirby upgrade pre-ordered and I’ll be buying Donkey Kong next time I buy a full priced release.

I can't imagine a world where this move is any good, but hey - will be interesting to keep an eye on at the veyr least.

I like the idea of the game but everything I’ve seen of it makes it look very bland. Can imagine the novelty wearing off after a couple of sessions. Might give it a try but I’d say it’s unlikely.

@metal1K Oh fair enough, I must have read wrong - thought I saw someone saying that's why the new ROG Xbox thing didn't have OLED either. Still, I think the price was justification enough, probably.

I really don't care either way - I'll be super happy if they do add some more Nintendo franchises, mainly because it will hopefully mean cool new tracks - but if it never happens I'm not going to lose sleep over it. Currently racing as the dolphin, woop woop.

Yeah, it's a bit silly and I do miss the all-SEGA approach of SR Transformed - but the game looks lots of fun and my kids will LOVE that Spongebob is in it. They can enjoy that while I indulge in some SEGA nostalgia, so it's a win-win for me.

From what I understand, adding OLED would not only have increased the cost but also impacted the battery life significantly. Both of which were kinda at the limit of what was acceptable, IMO. So I completely get why they compromised with the screen tech. To my layman eyes the screen looks good but I’d definitely be interested in an OLED version eventually if they can give it a respectable battery life.

@Drago201 Yeah, this. Would be very surprised if there was anything totally new. Resi Requiem alone will eat up a lot of time, I expect (and I am 100% OK with that).

Well, I was hoping for some substantial gameplay reveals and it 100% delivered. Never bought a DK game before but I'll be all over this one, looks like loads of fun! In so many ways it seemed like what a light-hearted game about the Incredible Hulk would be if Pixar made it. 10/10 from me.

Imagine if we got Skies of Arcadia. Here's hoping.

Not a DK fan in particular so the characters don't matter to me in the slightest. What I'm looking for is a gameplay hook that goes beyond simply bashing holes in stuff, as cool as that looks in quick bursts during the trailer. There needs to be a point to it beyond "Hey guys! How many bananas and gems can YOU find!?"
