Re: Round Up: All The Games From The Nintendo Direct Mini: Partner Showcase - September 2020

Monster Hunter is always good, and Ori was a nice surprise. Hades is great but already have it elsewhere. Very excited for Balan Wonderworld but the Switch version looks awful so I'll definitely be getting that for another platform.

Sniper Elite, Rune Factory, The Long Dark, PGA, Empire of SIn, Disgea and Fitness Boxing all looked dire. So a mixed bag for me, with more bad than good.

@Balta666 Happy bithday!

My gut feeling is Mass Effect for this one, and of course the Monster Hunter gamer that's been no-so-subtly rumoured. Although with Monster Hunter World being compatible for PS5 I'm not sure I can get particularly excited about a Switch game, but we'll see.

Makes sense really, just a shame the in-game monetization is so awful, but hopefully they'll address that one day. Haven't played since probably January this year but I'll be tempted to pick it up on other platforms if I can keep my current items etc. It's a fantastic game so I'm sure I'll get the urge to play again at some point.

Re: Talking Point: Are You Prepared To Spend $70 On The Latest Games?

SegaBlueSky

I'd definitely be prepared to pay more, but it would have to be for a game that I thought really deserved the extra expense, with a certain level of production values or massive gameplay scope. So something like The Last of Us 2? Absolutely, I'd have paid a bit more for that. Can imagine something like Cyberpunk costing that much too, and if you're into that game, I'm sure it'd be worth it.

But if I'm brutally honest, I can't think of any games on Switch that would justify that price tag. In fact I've avoided a lot of first party titles because of price. As a result, Switch is a mostly secondary gaming platform for me that I've mostly used for playing smaller indie titles.

Re: Wonderful 101 Kickstarter Backers Hit With Customs Charges And Handling Fees

@russellohh you’re quite right that investor is the wrong word, but you’re not a customer either. You’re a backer and Kickstarter are careful about their phrasing there.

I haven’t paid more than retail price for anything I’ve kickstarted, which has included three games and probably three or four books so far. All have been cheaper than retail price (at launch anyway). It’s not something I’d do all the time but for the right project it’s a useful tool. That said, I don’t think the Wonderful 101 was the right project, especially as they admitted they didn’t need the money to do it and we’re basically using it as a preorder. That’s what put me off backing in the first place and that gut instinct has proved correct, sadly.
