Re: Futurama Crashes Into Fortnite Today

Roibeard64

@Daggot older Millennials (such as myself) were in teens when it launched in 1999. It was popular off the bat (the simpsons connection had everyone interested in it) with people in my school, my friends, team mates and likes of cousins etc. Younger millennials would have grown up with it being on TV. Even if original run ended in 2003 it was repeated alot on likes of Sky etc often paired with the Simpons

Re: Video: These Replacement Joy-Con Sticks Fix Drift Issues, But How Do They Feel In Practice?

Roibeard64

Joy Cons drift folks regardless of how well you take care of them. Got 3 sets and the launch one never have but the marip party ones I used up until oled ones did quite quickly. Nintendo repaired them though been fine since. Oled ones are main ones since and no drift. It's more luck then anything I've mates with launch ones that are their only controllers that are working fine after triple digit hours spent in games. Others who bought new pair experience it within 6-9months.

Re: Microsoft CEO Says He Would "Love To Get Rid Of" Exclusives On Consoles

Roibeard64

People really are reading far too much into that statement and not taking it as its whole. Would love to doesn't mean it's realistic to do so and then theres the second part which alot of people are ignoring which makes the point Sony has made console competition all about exclusives. Which in fair it has but its in no way going give up that competitive advantage.

Of course Xbox would love a world without exclusives as its very much lacking them and if everything that came out on ps5 was on xbox who would buy a ps5 when you could have them all on xbox plus gamepass.

It's really just saying Xbox is forced play the exclusives game by Sony which is true. Xbox wants to become a games service really with likes of Gamepass

If Nintendo dropped exclusivity that would be absolutely market changing , it would become more like Sega post consoles with the possibility of it only focused on making handheld consoles. Either way not going happen unless something bad happens like 2 wii us in a row

Re: PlayStation Boss Doesn't Think Call Of Duty Appeals To Nintendo's Core Audience

Roibeard64

It's all just silly rubbish. Yeah CoD isn't as big on nintendo platforms as likes of PS and Xbox that's true but doesn't mean there's no audience.

Sony is just humiliating themselves at this point begging to stop the deal Pretending that the entirety of the gaming market is CoD focused but ignore the PC market that's magically a separate market and Nintendo doesn't count either cause they like Mario.

Trying to create a niche market of high spec consoles that consists only of Ps and Xbox where everyone is obsessed with CoD to the point that nothing could compete with it ever and ps is the underdog dispite outselling xbox and hoarding exclusive games, dlc and content on ps.

Like they could make CoD exclusive to Xbox and that's evil them using money that way, oh we paid so FF is Playstation exclusive on consoles please applaud us.

Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Sonic Origins Plus

Roibeard64

So they added Game Gear games groan always clunky and unloved and no master system versions of them to help with screen crunch or additional megadrive ones like spinball, mean bean machine and Sonic 3d. No sonic R or the fighters. No sonic advance.

So basically extra 10 to play as Amy (and knuckles in sonic CD) that's pretty lame and should been in base game all along.

Was more value in sonics gamecube megadrive collection and sonic gems. If they aren't going to upgrade the games throw them all in.

Re: Shuntaro Furukawa: Switch Successor Will Utilise The 'Nintendo Account' System

Roibeard64

Xbox all xbox one downloads carried over and some backwards compatible games bought on 360 too.

Playstation ps4 games carried over to ps5. Some have an upgrade feature which can be free or paid depending on title. Some odd previously purchased ,ps2, psp and ps1 games providing they are on their classic catalogue which is very few at present.
Nothing for ps3 games. You can only stream them with paid membership

Wii to wii u had the system transfer than the vc had the discounted "upgrade"option.

Switches successor better have backwards compatibility at this point. Like wii u and switch were so different and Nintendo so behind on online features I accepted it but now there's no real excuse.

Re: Dolphin Emulator Steam Release "Indefinitely Postponed"

Roibeard64

@ATaco think of it this way I could buy Mario's latest game or I could go download sunshine and galaxy.
If I choose the former Nintendo loses a potential sale.
Those two examples Nintendo released on switch briefly, and other games may be released in future think of recent advance wars remake.
Nintendo as a company doesn't want it products to be available for free as it devalues them and can affect future plans.
We don't know Nintendos plans either maybe a gamecube mini or its coming to nso or twilight princess is planned for a remaster etc.
They don't want new releases competing with their old ones for free and they want to control how and when they release products.
It's a bit like the old disney vault system attitude

Re: Dolphin Emulator Steam Release "Indefinitely Postponed"

Roibeard64

Another case of someone pushing the matter well beyond Nintendos line in the sand. (Admittedly they are way less tolerable, more protective and proactive that alot of other companies but i cant imagine Sony allowing a ps2 emulator either or sega allowing it to effect its mega drive cash cow ) but who actually thought putting it up on likes of Steam would go unchallenged.

Re: Sega Looks Set To Raise Its Game Prices Up To $70

Roibeard64

Persona and Bayonetta are the only games I'd consider at full price from Sega now (by way of Atlus and Platinum)

Sonic games since forces ive learned to just wait for a sale in 3 to 4 weeks time, Yakusa and monkey ball etc gamepass/plus or a maybe particular big sale.

Nothing much else really from Sega interests me anymore

Re: Switch Online's N64 App Has Been Updated (Version 2.10.1)

Roibeard64

@TruthisRare thats not what @Rooty wrote and you can callout piracy (which let's call a spade a spade here, is what you're engaging in and promoting unless of course you already own a legitimate copy of all those games which would then be perfectly legitimate ) without supporting every policy decision Nintendo ever made. It's not one or the other.

You prefer Nintendo make them available to buy rather than stream fine that's your opinion and while many will agree it doesn't make Nintendo evil for not doing it or make piracy suddenly perfectly legal.

Regardless i suspect most of us consider it morally okay for people emulating games which just aren't available to play anymore at all but let's stop pretending if every nintendo game was put on eshop that your emalating right now you would rush to buy them all before every touching the emulated ones again.

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp?

Roibeard64

Gave it a 9 as I love advance wars and it's a real joy to play them again.
Only problem I have is muliplayer is too limited and that's the one area they dropped the ball.
Art style was bit odd at first but few missions in it clicks.
Not sure why people are complaining about VA as it's about standard usage for these games ie characters outside cutscenes say things like look, hey or commander followed by walls of text.
Most dialogue I'm skipping over any way as it's alot of what's an airport, and x is doing y let's stop them.

Re: Mario Movie Expected To Surpass $1 Billion At The Global Box Office

Roibeard64

Happy for it. Personally thought it was just the on the good side of decent not great, apart from jack black nailing every scene he was in. Though it's a huge hit with my friends kids and in fairness it's very much geared to the under 13 crowd.
I Personally feel it was a 3 out of 5 stars unless you're young in which case it's 5.
Also before people complain that I'm not giving it an amazing score in my mid 30s, I loved films as a kid and teenager that critics hated.
I was right to enjoy them and critics weren't wrong about their flaws I just never cared.

Re: Advance Wars Switch Dev Thanks Fans For Positive Reception, Calls Release A "Life Dream"

Roibeard64

Almost 50% through advance wars 1 now. Was unsure of the new arr style at first but few missions in it clicked. The board game look of the map I'd actually forgotten until reading these.
Very few other changes (like yellow comet is now called gold comet understandably, though my brain always wants to say golden comet)

Only criticism I have are multiplayer could been handled better

Re: Advance Wars Switch Dev Thanks Fans For Positive Reception, Calls Release A "Life Dream"

Roibeard64

@Don it did indeed and then became gameboy wars but the series has had a strange run in japan since it was introduced to the west. The original was delayed there possibly not to compete with gamboy wars 3 which was released at a similiar time. Eventually advance wars was eventually released there as 1 and 2 double pack. Days of ruin wasn't released in stores over there either but instead was a club nintendo reward for 3ds years later. Only dual strike I believe had a no issues launching there.

Re: Nintendo Hacker Gary Bowser Has Been Released From Prison

Roibeard64

Damages are what a Judge has determined as the amount his actions in breaking the law cost Nintendo, not what he actually made doing so. Which seems to arround 300k or so.
He broke the law and wasn't a small fish doing it, realistically he was never going be able to pay back the damages in full in his lifetime but that's not the point, it's meant to reflect the damage he did and yes it's punitive by its nature.
But that's what laws are, some people only obey them because they know there's a punishment for not.

Re: New Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp Trailer Welcomes Back Orange Star

Roibeard64

@Snatcher the originals were very good games on the GBA and had sequels on the Ds one was very similar the other one had completely different art style and tone.
They were very good but you have to be interested in turn based strategy games to enjoy them eg likes of Fire emblem, Final fantasy tactics and Wargroove.
Outside of nintendo circles the series isn't hugely known and has been dormant for over a decade now so I wouldn't expect alot of general ducussion outside nintendo sites.
