No real issue with the price of console its where i expected it to be but really just knock 10 usd/eur / 8 gbp off those game prices and it would be fine. Should be 60-70 really.

DLC done right is never a bad thing as it gives me more content for games i enjoyed rather than waiting for a sequel and I've no problem paying for same when its decent. I did for last two Snash bros and Mario Kart 8 on Wii U.

Dlc done badly would be dlc that's pointless or was developed as part of the original game development and split off to sake it separately or is on the game and is just a paid unlock code or basically paying to unlock things quicker.

Either is optional though.

So its not tied to your account then rhis seems way better than a code in a box which has been an increasing trend for alot of 3rd parties lately.

I collect most amiibo but I can't name these characters off the top of my head at all. Like theres so many classic street fighter characters that are gaming icons such as entire cast of sf 2 so why these 3 first.

You don't have to pay the store, the transport, the cost of manufacturing the game cart and box for digital. They should have always been cheaper.

I knew game prices had to go up, ps5 and xbox already went up few years ago but thst said it seems 10 euro too much of an increase here in Ireland.

Here in Ireland it's up for preorder now for 90 euro which is a few cent short of 100 usd

Ps5 and Xbox series X already reached these heights about 2 or 3 years ago where I live.

I can see why they did it to prevent scaplers buying up the Japanese stock for resale elsewhere. The Yen has been weak since at least 2020, salaries just dont go up often in Japan and its their home market.

Not that I like price hikes on games but I'm a bit confused by the attitude some folk have that games should be bigger, better, longer and look amazing but still cost what they did in 2017. With everything else more expensive it was also going happen.

Also digital games should have always been cheaper to their physical versions as they don't have as much cost yet all 3 of the big console makers priced them the same outside of sakes.

Maybe it streams to the new Dock while in handheld mode.

Did people think the switch 1 would just disappear entirely the second they announced the switch 2. Like backwards compatibility and huge install base means it will be arround for the bulk of a year surely.

Possibly the least excited I've ever been watching one just a whole lot of underwhelming nothing announcements for the mobile games followed by a mildly interest trailer with a vague far off release date.
Very unimpressed with 90% of it , got most excited when I thought Ruby and Saphire were about to be released on NSO only for it to be a champions May and Brendan release for Masters...

In Japan companies are reluctant to increase prices as the public is very price focused. However the increased cost of manufacturing etc has lead to companies having no other choice in recent years,so you will often see on news public explanations and apologies by companies when they have to increase the price even when the increase is minor.

Like firered and leafgreen was 2004 and heartgold and soul silver 2009 so remakes of these remakes are justified in my opinion.

Black & White was 2010 and b&w 2 was 2012. A combined remake of these games would be good too.

I believe it was 5% for digital and 1% for physical. So was handy thar once in a while you'd have 10-15 there.(mostly go physical for switch).

The games about 8 years too late like Pops aren't big snymore and the whole toys to life look the game had is very dated

I had a megadrive when I was much younger, I personally prefer the all stars racing approach over team sonic where its just sonic characters as I get to see characters all throughout Segas history, some of which rarely appear these days but the n ew shinobi means there's hope for some.

Why does Sony think that every Ps2 ever produced was a sale. Surely console must have had some kinda failure rate even if very low percentage of units. There surely would be units produced that weren't sold but rather replaced a faulty unit etc

No surprise, I don't know why people can't understand that nintendo is protective of its IP as its basically the thing their business is entirely based on sure its the thing that kept the Switch selling.

If you can get Mario, Zelda, Pokemon and few others elsewhere nintendo goes under. So they are never going let anything potentially slide just in case it has a dominio effect of weakening their protection.

Wasnt much surprising about ps4 or ps5. Think ps3 biggest surprise was the price too.

Convenience trumps all. We can all post here how we all try to buy physical games but if you're commenting on a gaming website you are more a gaming enthusiast than our typical Joe public gamer.

I think realistically ps6 will ditch physical games and that will start the true endgame of physical gaming just like on the PC

A Sega subscription service hmmm is this why that megadrive collection was delisted as well as a load of backwards compatibility sega games on Xbox and some Dreamcast games were also even delisted off steam there in December.

Frankly I can't see myself paying for segas version of the nso. I've got the two mini megadrives and a few sega collections already on various consoles.
They have milked everything out of those megadrive games at this stage.

Nintendo is pretty good for backwards compatibility particularly with its portable hardware.

Wii played Gamecube and wii u played Wii too so definitely was expecting unless switch 2 turned out to be something completely different, I dunno like an Oculus

Switch 2 is a bit of a boring name but it's very clear name, nintendo obviously learned from the Wii U.

@stephanxliko could be because Ireland is in the EU but not part of the Schemgen area. UK is of course not in EU anymore so could be the logistics of supplying a non schengan country and a non EU country.

Plus there's no actual specialist games stores left in Ireland to supply. Game left ages ago and Gamespot left more recently. Smyths toys is basically the biggest game store" now. Some other electronics places do games but very limited selections

Metroid Dread, Mario Odyssey, Smash bros ulimate and Fire emblem three houses are definite switch games for me

Games will be all digital sooner or later. My bet is one more console generation and physical games won't be a thing. There's only like 3 stores [2 of which have very limited selections) and amazon I can go to for physical games.

It's a shame but there's some perks to digital games too.
-Generally available for longer
-Sale reductions tend to be far better throughout the year
-they require huge physical storage space
-disc or cart can't be broken or lost
-ease of access to play.

Bad side is the online stores would be a monopoly, prices don't reflect as much as a saving as they should need for more memory , no second hand marker and big one is if the ecosystem goes down .

In fairness every time I go to the cinema these days even on a recently released film the screening is only about 40% full. Doesn't make sense to keep in cinemas only now for too long

Nintendo has to come down hard on the big ones that actually cost it sales.
These are the ones that break the unwritten rules, of course Nintendo don't come after everyone that emulates a Snes game but providing access or tools for free switch games costs Nintendo. Another rule seems to be if you charge money then Nintendo comes after you.

As a company they have to protect their products and also their ip otherwise they potentially could lose some of it.

There's no real harm in owning a copy of a game and using a rom to play it in better performance but that's not what's going be the majority. If new Nintendo games are available for free people will stop buying them.

The some of these would never buy arguments are silly too. Nintendo not a charity or a right. It devalues their games and leads to others purchasers going so why am I paying so if its so easy to pirate it.
