I want a Mega Man game in the style of X with a proper ducking mechanic. Even Castlevania has that. Bonus points if it has a 360° aiming system like Metroid Dread.
I love mega man but I do always get frustrated by how it always sticks with the original limited basic move-set. There’s some room for modernization there!

Wishful thinking: the removed games are getting out-sourced remakes/remasters and Platinum are leaving it up to those studios to post it as their work on their own site. 🤷‍♂️

Glad I put this down for a few weeks. I rarely replay RPGs so good to know I’ll be going back to a “refined” version when I get to it. I got sidetracked with DQIII around the holidays but will definitely be going back to Fantasian.

Holy crap!! Never saw this coming! I had this back in the day and it’s pretty good if I remember, once you get the hang of the drifting around corners/turns. I remember loving the car designs too…

If they were copying colors, branding, and whatever else, sure, Nintendo has a right to step in. But this is literally just a name, nothing more.
For the first time, I gotta say, Nintendo pursuing trademark/copyright in court and losing was correct and justified.

Yeah I had a LOT of fun with the original 3DS version back in the day. I still have my copy and now I want to play it again. I was pretty close to 100% it before I put it down.

I love the Nintendo music app so much.
Haven’t played this game yet but maybe once I hear the soundtrack I’ll be tipped over the line to finally give it a go. …Aaaaaand maybe I’ll just wait for the next mainline game…

I’ll take the Sun and Moon soundtrack next please! Those are still my favorite in the entire series. It had everything and I think it was Pokémon fully realized and perfected at its peak. Massive Pokédex, the Alolan forms were cool, the Z-moves were my favorite feature to ever grace Pokémon (it was like your Pokémon could turn super saiyan.)

Exciting for Sega fans but by simply recalling the corporate direction with subscriptions these days, it's hard to get excited. Must temper expectations... If this becomes a subscription, I'm going to be very angry. But if it stays as an account, I'll probably sign up but I don't want more launchers and signing into stuff. It shouldn't be a requirement to connect to online to play single player games and stuff.

Let’s not forget the majority of NL readers are NA so it’s easy to understand why the NA cover wins. That being said, I voted for NA/EU. Nostalgia is my undying friend. 😁

All I’m asking, and I think I speak for a lot of folks, is would it have killed them to at least say “Based on the work of the original development staff, Retro Studios” instead?
That’s all they had to do. Mentioning specific names is a plus but then they have to extend the credits scene even longer.

I have no doubt there is some truth to this and I bet the devs love doing stuff like this. They know fans are scraping and digging and shredding for any bits of info. I think it must surprise them how fast people online can solve stuff though. I know it surprises me!

What if Nintendo’s next system somehow interfaces with Wii U and 3DS and this is a “read-between-the-lines” kind of thing where they’re really just telling you maybe don’t mod your system just yet.

I just watched a gameplay video or two and it looks awesome. Right up my alley in terms of the setting and style. Wasn't on my radar really until now. I'm definitely buying this after I get paid!

The screenshots ya’ll selected make it look so dark and almost like an N64 game, which is a bit off-putting for those who haven’t played it.

Luckily, I have it on 3DS and that’s where I’ll be playing it for the foreseeable future. It’s a great game worthy of any DK fan’s time!

Soma is INCREDIBLE. It’s one of the most memorable games/stories I’ve ever experienced. I beat it what feels like forever ago and I honestly still think about it, it’s such a cool story.
Not really ratcheted up on the horror side as much as it is just pure mental/thought-provoking.

This is great! I want the game released on Switch in the worst way. I had it on GameCube and bought it for Wii U but never really ever got that far in any time I played it. It’ll be brand new for me, more or less, and I’m dying to give it a go on Switch! Come on, Nintendo!

This gets me so irritated. It’s not the copying in itself, it’s the use of AI and the trickery trying to deceive folks, and the sheer cluttering of the shops with literal trash. I have no respect for these people.

I think NSO is priced very fairly considering it gets you the cloud saves, music app, and NSO/retro games.
That being said, I’d without a doubt just buy the games outright if I could. I’d muuucccchhh rather not have a subscription.

I definitely want it but I don’t want to spend $60 on it. I bought the same game on 3DS for much cheaper, half the price I believe, so it’s quite difficult to justify.
Will likely buy it on sale or with some kind of voucher to bring the price down a bit.
I think $50 would’ve been much more fair and would’ve gotten them an instabuy from me.

@NinChocolate every time I see your avatar in the corner of my eye, I think it’s Courage the cowardly dog, then realize it’s Kirby. It’s almost exactly Courage colored and expressed.

What if this is all a real Switch 2 (I.e. “New” Nintendo Switch like “New” 3DS) but there’s an actual real next gen console coming also that Nintendo will announce. Like this is a real decoy in a way. Legendary.

Ok…. I fought tooth and nail to avoid dropping $$$ on the NES one. That was hard enough for me. Now they go and do this. All it’s going to take is one too many beers one night and this will be arriving on my doorstep a few days later. Thanks Nintendo, you’re a master-craft at draining my wallet.

Switch 2 isn’t very Nintendo. What is, is Super, New, U, SP, Advance…

Well, that’s certainly something. Very unfortunate for these folks, especially not being able to prove you opened it and saw that.
Now everyone has to play the part of the unboxer culture and film themselves opening things so they have proof of this.

In my defense, I just woke up. But also, what’s my excuse for this type of thing other times of the day?

This is really cool and very Nintendo. I’ve been wanting to play Majora’s Mask again for awhile but I’m crawling through Ocarina over the past few months. I’m probably going to play on 3DS, not NSO, since it has all the QOL features. So many games have come out and I’m really trying to make a dent in my back catalogue!

I want more Blaster Master :/

To my knowledge, there is no other game quite like Punch-Out so it seems silly to can it.

Thanks for all the great articles, reviews, soapboxes, moderation, going to Japan and documenting your store visits… the list would be big if I actually kept one, but keeping it simple, you are and probably will always be the site I visit multiple times daily. This community is great and it’s just fun to interact with like-minded Nintendo fanatics.

I acquired so many games the end of this year. I’ll HAPPILY give my wallet a much needed break.

@TCKuma came here to say the same thing! I’m 5 in and I’m thoroughly impressed and enjoying it.

I’m about 5 hours in and I’m loving it! Some slight performance hiccups, notably as the camera pans around scenes but otherwise it’s a smooth 60 on switch.
I really want to try/play DQIII too but there’s no way I have time for both. 😫

I would be so mad if I were the dev.

I’m working on a game at the moment in my spare time and at this rate it would take years to complete and come to full fruition.

If someone copied my game name and concept and was trying to mislead and divert money I thought I should earn after all this hard work, I’d be livid, especially if no response was given by the owner of the shop.

I have no sympathy for the copy cats and I hope they receive the full business end of the law here. I also hope Nintendo does something, perhaps more proactively, with the new system. In the end though, every game that gets on the shop and every transaction that happens, Nintendo gets a cut I think, so I can’t see them being in a hurry to stifle that income.

This nails the style I look for and is truly what I consider pixel art.
I’m not trashing the pixel style of say, Hyper Light Drifter, or Moonlighter, but those styles don’t really do it for me. This style here though looks authentic and tasty.

While on topic of NSO, I wish they would make the NSO apps check in automatically, or at least if I check one in, check them all in. I got burned one time on a flight because I hadn’t checked in all my NSO apps and therefore couldn’t play games in them because it couldn’t verify my subscription.

Am I missing something? Is there a way to just check in with all the NSO apps in one go?

First thing I checked was if there were one-hit deaths. That’s a negative and so I’m definitely buying this. I bought waaaayyyy too many games (on sale) this past month (seriously though) so far but this one is at a pretty good price point so I’m doing it.

I heard there is a glimpse of the Switch 2 tucked away in the Silo level of Goldeneye. You have to blow up a secret wall and it’s on a table in there or something.

If I could go back in time and not do this kind of thing one of the previous years, I would.
My “Redownload” tab in the eshop has a few ….”stains”… that won’t come out. I’m never going to play those games I got for free in there and I wish I could just hide them or get rid of them. This is like that recent article NL just put out about all the stunted games on the shop.
If you like these kinds of games, more power to you! But if you care about having these in your history seemingly ^forever, I’d avoid it.

^ I say forever because with rumors of this eshop rolling over into the next Nintendo gen, I would assume my history will follow right along. I want those games out of my history!!

Ok now this I’ll be listening to!! I frequent Ocarina of Time and Star Fox and I’m 100% adding this to my rotation. Whoever thought of and approved making this music app are geniuses!

I listen to game music a lot and I don’t always sync it over to my phone because… well it could be embarrassing sometimes… but having it segregated over to this app and available as needed is so cool. I’m also someone who hates the idea of streaming things but for this it works well for me. It feels so Nintendo.
