Basically has everything I need. I love the way this looks so far so I’ll be adding this to my list. Will be checking out the earlier titles as I’m not familiar with them! If all goes according to plan I’ll be buying the Operation Night Strikers compilation!
JUST ANNOUNCE IT FOR SWITCH ALREADY YA’COWARDS!
I was hyped to 100% reading the article, then I dropped to about 80% hype when it was mentioned no consoles announced yet. It has to release on Switch, right?
We need more onrails shooters like this!!! This being from the OG crew bumps it to the top of my list.
Edit: from the sounds of it, I’m glad I avoided watching the trailer. Screenshots and description look and read solid though. 🤞
HELL YES!! I am SO happy I waited buying these!! I was hoping they would release them like this! Absolutely buying this collection physically. I have 1 on 3DS and I really enjoyed it so I can’t wait to finally play the others.
This soundtrack is really good and I always love when game studios and devs release their game soundtracks on Bandcamp. I’m going to buy this later today when I get to work. I’m getting Tunic/Hyper Light Drifter vibes and that’s a really good thing… I’ve been mainlining shin megami tensei v’s soundtrack (❤️) but I think I’ll be switching over to this for a bit.
Oh cool, my least favorite design choice in Scarlet/Violet is now literally real.
I may argue, it pulls it off better in real life than it does in the video game somehow. I just don’t care for the “anthropomorphic” stuff Pokémon is doing: bags of garbage are Pokémon, melting ice cream is a Pokémon, a piece of hardware is a Pokémon… a Pokémon that somehow is a motorbike? Seems weird and uninspired to me.
That being said, I’m always open to the next game. Hopefully they get back to some cool design choices like the original 151 or some of gen 2.
Good news for me as someone who was waiting for a discount on this one! The game looks great (and I loved the demo) so I’m likely buying this very soon.
This is great!! I adore this game so it’s really nice seeing these improvements. I’m due for another playthrough, I usually go for one once a year around summer.
Someone, or a group of folks, would have to play every game ever to compare them to one another and have the ability to reference specific things between them within an “arms reach” at a time to determine plagiarism. For as much as I despise AI in general (artistic plagiarism, long term impacts on the human mind, environmental impacts, etc.), this would be a great way to utilize it: comparing games before they get published on storefronts. It’s really embarrassing that these storefronts allow it but again, I don’t have a good solution for it other than using AI to run them through and “check” them.
I am so happy to see Demonschool on the list. I keep reminding myself it’s coming and I’m so excited for it—the devs really seem like they’re cooking up something special.
It makes me want a Devil Survivor remastered double pack or something on Switch. Those games are also something very special!
I often do end up eventually selling an old console but this one I won’t be selling. I have a lite and a regular launch day. I may end up selling the lite but we’ll see. My wife got me my Switch for Xmas in 2017 so that’s got a lot of sentimental value for me. If she gets me the 2, and the 2 truly plays everything from 1, maybe I’d sell the original.
Honestly kind of tempted by Backrooms lol I love the horror concept of the whole back rooms thing, so it sounds neat, but whether or not it translates well into a game is what I’m wondering. Will watch some gameplay footage to determine…
Literally reading this article as I stand over the sink, mouth washing. If the game is giving people chills, it goes on my list! Will be checking this out; I have no idea what it’s about.
I was already excited, having skipped this one back in the day. But after reading this article, it got me even more hyped, no, pumped, no, full on Xeno’d.
I always heard you don’t get a skell until late in the game but from the sounds of it, that’s not the case. Can’t wait to play this!
Very happy with these updates but they seem like they should have been part of the base game. I haven’t played it yet because I assumed this was going to be how it went after release and it seems I was right. I’m happy with my choice because when I finally do play it, and believe me I will, it’ll be a better version than the release version.
Ok now they have my attention. I love Gundam but I also have only really seen a few episodes here and there of Wing, iron-blooded orphans, and endless waltz. I just love it but know next to nothing about it. Does that make any sense?
I beat this game when it came out in N64 only once. I was working toward a second completion on 3DS but never finished it…
That being said, I can’t even believe there is a debate here: the 3DS version has the bombers notebook improvements, which alone makes me choose that version. It’s by far the better version (because of gyro aiming, sharper graphics, portability…) unless I am really missing something…
…I keep meaning to go back and beat it. Someday I’ll fire up my 3DS and give it a go again. It’s not my favorite Zelda but also not my least favorite. That feeling of the constant time limit/impending doom is such a double edged sword… I can’t deal with it sometimes!
Because Shinobi 3 is my favorite and what I consider the best in the series, I hope this plays like an enhanced version of 3. There is clear progression from 1 > 2 > 3 and I hope that continues onto this one. Take everything from the previous games (3 especially) and expand upon it.
@brunojenso without any other port or version to compare it to, my experience with Rogue Flight on switch has been a delight. It’s buttery smooth, and fast-paced, if nothing else. It’s not like 4k sharp but I was never caught off guard by anything because I couldn’t see it or it was too blurry. Sorry, it’s hard for me to answer the question well because it’s the only version I’ve played. It’s one of my favorites on switch right now though! I’ve been recommending it to everyone.
I didn't even know the first one existed! I LOVE Star Fox and this barrel-rolled right past me. My go to for my fix on Switch has been Rogue Flight (a FANTASTIC game in its own right) but this looks to be more Star Fox and I'm all for it. Going to add to the wishlist and check for a sale. Buying this ASAP!
My only complaint is the slow drip feed. Honestly, it’s great otherwise, I have no other complaints. I understand they can’t just release a game a week, they’d blow through their catalogue pretty quickly, but this release schedule is SLOOOOWWWWW. Still, at this point, no plans to cancel my sub.
Wow I was not expecting this and it appears I am not alone. I am 100% listening to this tomorrow at work. In fact, I’ve been playing game soundtracks exclusively while at work for the past month or so. When the next King Gizzard album releases that’s when I’ll go back to “regular” music but for now it’s been parasite eve and shin megami tensei v, all the way, every day.
I voted go back to the SOTN style but we all know for that to be possible, Iga would have to come back. But Iga is and has been working on his own stuff.
So, I’d be interested in a new side scroller style that doesn’t play it safe and that doesn’t try to just reboot the whole thing and “start from scratch.” That being said, I’m interested in another SOTN style or a 3D lords of shadow style but really hoping it’s a like a Metroid Dread 2.5D kind of thing. Ok I’m clearly all over the place here… I just want a new Castlevania game that is purposely nostalgic but also tastefully breathes new life into the franchise but is respectful to it.
@RupeeClock that’s the one! I know NintendoLife covered it once or twice but the dev(s) are posting lots of progress on Bluesky so I’ve been following it. I can’t wait for that one!
For as excited as I am, I might be fine waiting until the initial hype dies down and get it around the holidays. I have such a massive backlog and I’m generally still very happy with my launch day switch and switch lite. What’s really going to break me on that though, is if Metroid is a launch title. I’ll get in line so fast and eat my words.
@NicolausCamp holy crap, seriously?? I wasn’t aware of that, last one I played was X4 on PS1! I’m going to check that out… I have the X collection on Switch but never played X5 or beyond. 😬 But yeah that’s definitely the direction I want to see things go…. A few more options in the move-set and keep the ability to gain armor upgrades that change your appearance.
I want a Mega Man game in the style of X with a proper ducking mechanic. Even Castlevania has that. Bonus points if it has a 360° aiming system like Metroid Dread. I love mega man but I do always get frustrated by how it always sticks with the original limited basic move-set. There’s some room for modernization there!
Wishful thinking: the removed games are getting out-sourced remakes/remasters and Platinum are leaving it up to those studios to post it as their work on their own site. 🤷♂️
I know you have to draw the line somewhere but BAKERU should be up top with the “main” ones! Cannot wait for my physical copy so I can finally give it a proper go.
Glad I put this down for a few weeks. I rarely replay RPGs so good to know I’ll be going back to a “refined” version when I get to it. I got sidetracked with DQIII around the holidays but will definitely be going back to Fantasian.
@Serpenterror world driver championship’s graphics were insane at the time (to me.) You’re right, this era was amazing for racing games; all different types with rally, kart, jet skis, motor cycles… good times
Holy crap!! Never saw this coming! I had this back in the day and it’s pretty good if I remember, once you get the hang of the drifting around corners/turns. I remember loving the car designs too… Going to play this tomorrow morning!

Yeah I had a LOT of fun with the original 3DS version back in the day. I still have my copy and now I want to play it again. I was pretty close to 100% it before I put it down.
I love the Nintendo music app so much. Haven’t played this game yet but maybe once I hear the soundtrack I’ll be tipped over the line to finally give it a go. …Aaaaaand maybe I’ll just wait for the next mainline game…
