That’s disheartening. I had it preordered (in America) but quickly realized I was going to drop it once Fantasian comes out so I cancelled for now. Will be 100% getting it at a later date. I don’t want to be part of the problem! It looks like the best HD-2D game so far and I don’t want to miss out.
Solid drop!! I’m so close to ordering the Genesis NSO controller. I beat Landstalker a few months ago and that was the first time I had done so since the late 90s. Maybe my second time ever beating it. It was like revisiting a dream… I’m going to be playing these as well
I check this site religiously every day, multiple times a day, and I never saw that the first released last week. How did I miss that?! This is great news! I bet, and have a feeling, we’re about to get Donkey Kong 64 dropped ….And while on topic, I bet Conker shows up on the Mature 64 app…
I just sold my 3DS launch edition copy of Perfect Chronology and I regret it. I am hoping it comes to Switch as a port and that’s what drove me to sell it while I could get a nice price for it. Anyway, hoping it comes to Switch!
Cassette Beasts is such a good game. It's familiar but does so many things different in such interesting ways. Like using fire attacks on metal enemies or using water on fire enemies changes their elemental properties, etc. I love that you can learn more than 4 moves... the soundtrack is phenomenal... Definitely my Pokémon killer. I need to go back and finish it, I was really enjoying it.
Interested to see new content! Didn't know that would ever be a thing.
I’ve finally sunk my teeth into Xenoblade Definitive Edition on switch and even though I’ve played it on Wii and 3DS, it’s hitting so differently on Switch. Im enjoying it sooo much more than I have in the past. I got Mario & Luigi and Xenoblade the same day and haven’t been able to put Xenoblade down to give Mario and Luigi and try. And I was more excited about M&L! Point being, I’ll be getting X next year so hopefully it at least connects to the first!
Well this came out of nowhere! I’m going to be getting this after I read some reviews. The 88% on Steam is very promising but I take NintendoLife reviews as one of the final words almost always :: hint hint :: so hopefully there is a review soon. I’m always down for these kinds of games so hoping it does well!
@roy130390 @rozetta I’ve come to learn that the people who refer to the game as a walking simulator have never played it and/or would rather just keep replaying the same open world Ubisoft-athon call of duty regurgitated nonsense over and over. Kojima is the only one I can think of that’s actually doing different things and expanding boundaries.
My Brothership order didn’t even ship yet from PlayAsia! 😫 Expected… but I’ll be having a delayed start on that one. Can’t wait to give it a shot though; the Mario & Luigi games were some of the best experiences I’ve had with the 3DS. Dream Team and Paper Jam were my favorites.
I was hyper excited about this game but I’m not so sure now… I’m sure I will absolutely buy it at some point but I’m dropping it down off the “buy now” list where it’s been for almost half a year.
I have that Goblin Slayer TRPG coming next next month which also looks fantastic.
The next one I’m looking forward to is that R-Type Tactics Cosmos game coming out.
@RupeeClock If the new Metroid Prime isn't a switch successor launch title, I'm going to be shine-sparked. Don't get me wrong, it wouldn't be the first time I'm shocked by a decision from Nintendo but that would be a massive missed opportunity. It might even be a dual-system launch ("Switch 2" version and OG Switch version.)
Honestly not happy about the random encounters but that’s not a deal breaker for me. Any other game it might be but I know I’m going to love this I was really hoping to beat Mario RPG before this but it doesn’t look like that’s happening now!
I’d almost want to see them do a Star Fox Metroidvania. Not a side scroller but more or less an “open world” that I can fly around in and land to get out and walk around if need be. Like, a better version of Starlink. Then again, I’m fully okay with another purely on-rails take on the series but if they’re looking for something new, I think that is the natural progression route.
@RupeeClock that was my gripe; the game was utterly beautiful and brimming with detail and then it made you view smaller zoomed in areas through that little gamepad screen. Although I think it was a cool idea, it 100% took away the immersion in the environments. It would’ve been cool for a few levels as a “gimmick” but having to do it so often hurt the experience overall.
I see it as: it’s Nintendo’s music and Nintendo has the resources to build something like this so why not? Why should they have cuts being taken from another company (Apple, Amazon, Spotify… ) to host their own music when they can just do it themselves. I like it.
My personal collection includes: All NES castlevanias, Rondo of Blood/Dracula X, Castlevania 64, Shinobi 3, Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Kirby’s adventure, blaster master, Tunic, Earthbound, Vengeful Guardian… I will likely listen to the Nintendo app for Nintendo stuff where able, but for everything else I’m going the personal collection route since a lot isn’t Nintendo. That being said I totally get why Nintendo is doing this and I think it’s a smart (and fun!) move.
I'm not going to lie, I play video game music more often than I like to admit. If I get burned out my favorite bands, I go for the NES/SNES/Genesis/N64 soundtracks. I have a nice library on my computer. I'm not the biggest fan of streaming but I WILL be partaking in this.
@Ooyah @thor8467 Ha! It's a solid game! Granted I don't think I've ever beaten Quest 64 (or, "Holy Magic Century" — man, I love that name!) but I really used to love renting it weekend after weekend back in the day. I think it holds up and is done well enough playing it on my emulator over the years.
Have you played Return to Popolocrois: A Story of Seasons Fairytale on 3DS? I felt the battle system was similar on there and that was half the reason I enjoyed that game so much too. because it reminded me of Quest 64/HMC.
I pre-ordered the Analogue 3D the other day so now I'm on the hunt for my final N64 carts I want to round out my collection. Quest 64 is one of them! I will beat it this time!
@thor8467 I think I fall in the minority that I liked Quest 64. I thought it was a fun game! Thanks for this, this is helpful I'm pretty sold on X now, it seems critically acclaimed across the board. I know it doesn't mean I too have to like it but I'm willing to give it a fair shot and make my own opinion. I'm considering revisiting the first one again now as well. Why Nintendo/Monolith Soft, why must you do this to my wallet!?
Another trailer that offers nothing for me: Nothing showcasing the game or how it plays. Just slow pans of (very) dark scenes and a voiceover. I heard of the game but know nothing about it other than "survival horror RPG." Guess I'm off to Youtube to do my own research and find a gameplay video without commentary.
@Dpishere Odd for sure... Considering the QOL improvements you can get with those remasters. But, can't and won't complain because I do like having the muddy graphics sometimes when I feel like taking a time travel to the old days. Turok 1 and 2 were among my favorite N64 games so I'm pretty happy. Never played Shadowman until the Nightdive remaster.
@MeloMan Ok, this is helpful! Thank you for answering... I'm probably picking this up. I'm watching gameplay videos and it really looks solid. I have the 3DS one with Shulk and I skipped X on Wii U so it'll be brand new for me. I appreciate it, thanks!
ugh, this series never clicked with me because of the combat but now that they're basically all on the system, I feel obligated. These games looks so good and are built with quality but I just would rather a more final fantasy 7 remake style combat system. Serious question, has anyone played Quest 64? Would you compare that Xenoblade's combat? I enjoyed Quest 64 so maybe I will enjoy Xenoblade after all?
I thoroughly enjoy the game, especially around October/November/December. I usually play it heavily around now and then delete it after this holiday stretch. I just don’t care for mobile gaming so I ultimately delete it to free up room, etc. I did sink hours upon hours into it though! It’s really fun and because it’s October/November/December again, I just redownloaded it and plan to buy it at the discount when able.
Here just sitting and waiting for that sweet-looking Goblin Slayer game to release. Supposed to be tomorrow according to my calendar. After I post this comment I’m going to check and see if that’s still true. I expected to see that game mentioned in this article so now I’m nervous it got delayed!
UPDATE: Now releases 11/15 according to US eshop. That’ll be a tough, the week after Brothership releases. :: goes back to sitting and waiting ::
I wish Paper Mario was in this 😫 Having that extra button really amped up the difficulty for me in Paper Jam. Every enemy had that 3rd angle of attack and really kept you on your toes. I’ve been meaning to go back and play that one again, it’s so damn good and represents the pinnacle of these games having that third button. Anyway, still excited for this one regardless as it looks fantastic! Should be fun on my switch lite around the chilly months
I feel like all the horror games are releasing at once! Other years I feel they are generally hard to come by, or you need to replay older games. Will pick this up eventually after SH2, FAITH, Mario RPG… yikes… Mario and Luigi brothership, Dragon Quest…. Bakeru… River City girls 1+2, Fantasian… ooof… I just realized I have quite a wave of games incoming in the next few months. It will prove difficult to find time for all this!
I had completely forgotten about this game! I was waiting for a review either way but this solidifies the deal. I’ll be getting this and somehow finding the time between Silent Hill 2 and Mario RPG to play it.
I’m debating going physical with it or just sticking to digital 🤔
UPDATE: went digital with the 10% launch discount. Can’t beat that with a vat of holy water or a boomerang cross…. Errr wait this isn’t Castlevania.
I’m playing through silent hill 2, and in between finally playing Mario RPG and I’m LOVING that. Well, his first statement (rather, the interpretation of it being his last project) was enough to make me immediately pull the trigger in the physical Fantasian cart I've had in my online cart for weeks. I figured that was how I would honor his years of work! This is great to read! He should continue as long as he wants and work on whatever he wants. He earned it.
I'm maybe halfway through Silent Hill 2 remake and I've had about as much of mannequin enemies as I could take! TRIGGERED! I think I will just stick with my Silent Hill 2, but maybe on a sale I'll get this. It really does look pretty solid!
