Re: Konami's Metal Gear Producer Would Love To Work With Hideo Kojima

ChromaticDracula

For as much as I love, and loved, MGS, Death Stranding has really come full center for me. It’s an incredible game and story that I can’t wait to see fleshed out more.

What I’m saying is that I’ve moved on and so has Kojima. Yes, MGS is beloved and cherished but I would much rather Kojima keep pushing boundaries and making new things rather than revisiting and rehashing. He’s one of the only creators making actual new content and innovating. Revisiting MGS at this point is like that sad weird 30-something going back to their high school after they graduated and telling kids “I was amazing back in the day!”

Re: Mario & Luigi: Brothership Box Art Has Been Officially Revealed For Switch

ChromaticDracula

I love the M&L art over the years. It’s honestly the perfect shade of red and green for the brothers and it is so tasty and pleasing to the eye.
The M&L games seem at home on 3DS, likely biased because that’s where I’ve played most of them, and this art looks right on the money. It would be soooo cool if Nintendo put this on a white Switch case instead of the standard clear.

Re: Aspyr Is Bringing Another Classic Star Wars Game To Switch This August

ChromaticDracula

This is awesome!!
This game wreaks of GameCube/PS2 but I’ve played the “port” on PS4/5 over the years and it’s still fun. Definitely clunky and maybe a tad obtuse but it’s so fun once you get your grips with the quirks. I’ll be buying this knowing there are some improvements, even if they’re slight, and deleting that port off the competitor’s console

Re: Review: Perfect Dark (Nintendo 64) - Perhaps Not Perfect, But Still A Remarkable Achievement

ChromaticDracula

I don’t have any issues with the NSO FPS games and that’s probably because I grew up with them.
I only wish Nintendo would implement a dual stick control option because I found these to be mostly unplayable without the N64 controller. let’s get real here, I’m not about to go portable and bring my N64 controller with me so I can play in tabletop mode.

Controller stuff aside, I’ve had no issues with anything else really. Plays just like I remember and that’s pretty great.
Nintendo: if you’re going to add save states as a modern feature, follow through and please also add modern dual stick controls options.

Re: Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance Has Topped 500,000 Sales In Just Three Days

ChromaticDracula

All the double-dipping and full price for DLC stuff aside, the actual game is incredible.
I was really into the original but this new version is just so much more enjoyable.

They’re different price points of course but how did ya’ll feel when you got Pokémon Red/Blue back in the day only for them to release Yellow one year later? This Vengeance upgrade at least released a few years after. The jump from red/blue to yellow was ~1 year

Re: Switch Online's Latest N64 Release 'Perfect Dark' Appears To Have Some Emulation Issues

ChromaticDracula

Not to be that person but I’ve been playing it and I haven’t had any personal issues with it. Like, it plays like I remember but it looks nice and crisp and all that. I really don’t see why this person is saying it’s unplayable. I’m playing it every night..?
Controls are a little tough (with aiming, because of the analog stick, in particular) but I’ve been having a blast.

Anyway, hope this stuff gets patched so the hecklers can finally get some sleep.

Re: Nintendo Switch Vs. Switch Lite - What's The Difference?

ChromaticDracula

...Came here to start eyeballing if I want to go all in on that Zelda Switch lite that was just announced... 👀

I can never give up TV gaming but having a second, more portable system, would be nice. I never take my OG switch out of the house, it's just not "portable" to me. But a Lite is... and it's tempting...

Re: Poll: What Review Score Would You Give Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance?

ChromaticDracula

Hands down there should’ve been an upgrade option for folks. Like, how can you slap your “early adopters” in the face like that?

However, I don’t think it’s fair to deduct points for that reason because the game itself is insanely solid. I’ve played a ton of the entries in this series and this one is by far my favorite ever. Being able to run around and see the enemies (no random encounters ❤️) is great.
I love love love the main character and everything is so fleshed out and it runs great on Switch.
I wonder if we’ll ever get 4 or 4 apocalypse remastered or anything…

Re: Review: Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance (Switch) - Even Better Than The Stellar Original

ChromaticDracula

Well, folks, if you were following along (and I have no doubt you were not) with my posts, I've decided to just get this again on Switch. It does not run worse, it packs in all new content, and most importantly,. I can play this handheld when wifey is using the TV, watching interview with a vampire and house of dragons.
I so want to experience this game with the crispy PS5 graphics but not being able to play handheld is a killer for me.
I've restored my preorder and I'm excited for Friday! Thanks for the review, @SwitchVogel!

Re: The First Review For Shin Megami Tensei V: Vengeance Is In

ChromaticDracula

@PinderSchloss This is exactly why I cancelled my preorder altogether. I will just decide what version to get after I read specifically about the performance on Switch.

I loved the game and I have no issues with it on Switch but I'm looking to freshen things up in my own way by playing it in a different form, whether that be improved performance on Switch or the very graphically tasty PS5 version. I'm 99% sure I'm getting it on Switch but I just hope it doesn't run worse than the original. I just hope I can still snag a launch copy with the steelbook if I wait a day or two after release.

Re: Random: Shin Megami Tensei V Continues Heavy Metal Collabs With Slipknot

ChromaticDracula

This release has been rollercoaster ride: I bought the OG on Switch back when it first came out and I absolutely love it.
I of course was shocked when this new version was announced and I was like, "Ok.. this is weird that it's not DLC but I preordered the game so here I goooooo" and preordered on Switch.
I've since cancelled my Switch preorder and now have it preordered on PS5. I did that because I don't know if the Switch version will run any better and also because I want to experience the game in a different way with those new crispy tasty graphics.
Now I'm second guessing again because I really want this on Switch so I have handheld play options. I don't want PS Portal. I think I'm going to cancel a go the Switch route again.

This all comes back to Atlus not being clear and up front about stuff, specifically with the Switch version. As long as the new Switch version doesn't run worse than the original, I'll be happy. I'd love some Switch GAMEPLAY footage... I just don't want them pulling some crap like "the first half of the game is on the cart and the rest requires a download" or the game somehow runs choppier or something...

Re: Nintendo Announces Acquisition Of Shiver Entertainment

ChromaticDracula

@Serpenterror This list is awesome! I don't think I realized there were so many other studios behind some of these ports. Like, for example, I thought CDPR ported Witcher 3 to Switch. OK, I'm honestly motivated to edit my comment above because some of these studios deserve more credit. Thanks for the enlightening!

Re: Nintendo Announces Acquisition Of Shiver Entertainment

ChromaticDracula

2 standout companies that have done incredible porting jobs are Night Dive (my favorite) and Panic Button. Can’t say I’ve heard of Shiver but I also haven’t played Mortal Kombat or Hogwarts so… there’s that.

I love the way Nintendo handles things like this, setting an example and all. So graceful.

Re: Dead By Daylight Teases New Castlevania Chapter

ChromaticDracula

I thought dead by daylight was like… sort of a dead game at this point. I tried it and it was janky as hell, coupled with the fact I hate online games, it was an instant uninstall.
It feels akin to someone making a new playable character for the first Ghost Recon on PC. Like… ok cool but why? Vampire Survivors collab made sense and so did that other side-scrolling rogue game collab but this feels weird.
I just hope this is leading to something like building hype for Castlevania 64 on NSO or their own volume 3 collection with it or something.

Re: EA Apparently Exploring The Idea Of In-Game Ads In Traditional AAA Titles

ChromaticDracula

Unbelievable. Just make games. Why are you trying to profit off every pixel? It’s fine if done tastefully but it’s definitely sounding like it’ll be full-blown speed bump/eye-wall ads. Watch them do a thing like having you have to speak a phrase into your controller’s microphone to get past the ad and continue to acknowledge that you watched it. Wouldn’t surprise me.

Can’t spell bad without ad.

Re: Nintendo Discontinuing 'X' Integration On Switch Next Month

ChromaticDracula

@Thomystic I feel like Nintendo having a twitter account at this point is more like a placeholder. If Nintendo themselves didn’t claim (and hold) it, someone else would and start posting random stuff. I think Nintendo actively still uses the account too but I was thinking they can never actually back out now because wouldn’t that maybe free the account up for grabs, if even after Z amount of years?

Re: Nintendo Discontinuing 'X' Integration On Switch Next Month

ChromaticDracula

YES PLEASE. NOW PLEASE BRING BACK MIIVERSE!!
I don’t speak for everyone but I’ve long deleted my Twitter account once it was announced that Musk was taking over and I have no regrets. I won’t support that laundry airing nonsense and what that wasteland has become since.
Same with Facebook and them with the trying to be discrete but failing miserably at spying on me crap.
I know most places have my data anyway by now but I try to limit what I can and take back a little control at least.
Miiverse was by gamers, for gamers, and well thought out and fun. I like that kind of environment. Bring that back please.

Re: Rocket Knight Adventures: Re-Sparked Crashes Onto Switch In June

ChromaticDracula

@Dualmask although I know what you mean, I think the inclusion of rewind and save states do go a long way.
I can play these on my Analogue Pocket but the Genesis core lacks save states and rewind so there goes that. Being able to play these officially and with those features is pretty good. I can already picture what the up-res’d graphics would look like or what style they’d have likely picked and it makes me want to puke.
(likely heavy mobile game-style, specifically that style that they used in the Fire Emblem mobile mobile game.) yuck.

Re: Review: Wrath: Aeon Of Ruin (Switch) - Impressive Quake-Like FPS Is A Bad Fit On Consoles

ChromaticDracula

Ugh the fast paced stuff is hard to digest. I am not a PC gamer and I was really looking forward to this but the twitchy controls seem tough to come to terms with. The large levels seem kind of cool to be honest, kind of like Turok 2 which admittedly are also quite too large sometimes but at least you have a map…
I was really looking forward to this but I might have to pass on it now.

Re: Paper Mario: TTYD And Luigi's Mansion 2 HD Estimated Switch File Sizes Revealed

ChromaticDracula

@sanderev I’m sort of in the same boat… I love having a physical collection especially for the “rare” games like ones from Nintendo or limited run, etc., but it’s really hard to stick to physical only when you can often get digital variants for so cheap on sale.

To make matters worse, Nintendo first-party games can often be found cheaper buying used (eBay) and are more expensive on the eshop or digitally. Most third-party games are more expensive physically but cheaper digital when there is a sale.
It’s hard not to have a fractured collection and you sometimes just can’t pass up a good deal when there’s a digital sale.
